.
Oftentimes, we hear what marriage is all about and
tend to put the responsibility on one party more
than the other (especially when it does not work
out). I believe it is very beautiful when you share it
with the right person – not the PERFECT PERSON. I strongly believe that each party is as responsible as
the other one and must participate in the best
interest of the marriage as a whole. There needs to
be a real understanding of the word ‘marriage’
before we launch into the deep. At least do your
research, learn all that there is to know and when you eventually get married, hope for the best. Let’s
discuss some of the “nots” about marriage as listed below:
.
1. Marriage is not a bed of roses – There is nothing simple about it. It is not an easy road
neither is it a bed full of roses. In life as we
journey, there are different routes that we tour
and even so, some roads are clear and good
while others are bumpy, dirty and terrible.
View marriage as a never ending road with the same attributes. Do not enter therein thinking
it will be paradise all the way. If you do, you
will be shocked and might not be able to cope
effectively.

2. Marriage is not about YOU – The ME syndrome has to die because you have to create room for another person in your heart, life and around you. When you make the focus to be about the other person, then there will be a balance and life will be easier. Imagine a partner thinking and putting the other person first and vice-versa, the result will be far greater than what we can imagine. Be a giver and not a taker!!

3. Marriage is not a competition – There should be no competition in marriage. If you take a closer look at the attributes of competitors, you will notice that they strife with one another because one person has to emerge as a winner but marriage is different. You are not to outshine or outperform the other person, both should work together as “ONE” to achieve a common goal. Continue leta..................

4. Marriage is not subduing your spouse – What would you achieve if you partner is failing and you are succeeding? You should be the helper of the other so that both parties can excel and fulfil their purposes. One partner should not tend to subdue the other or be jealous of the other person. You should always be happy about the progress of each other. . 5. Marriage is not a short term contract – Not at all, the statement “for better for worse” is actually truer than it may sound. It is a forever kind of a thing so there is no room for 2-10 year contract term. The expectation is for a lifetime!!
