I sat on my bed and reminisced for a while before sleeping. Throughout the weekend, I had fun chatting with betty and also, bimpe never ceased to initiate romantic chats with me, she will tell me how she missed me, how she also think about me and the likes.. on monday. I woke up early, I took my bath, I wore my already ironed cloths, I took my credentials and went straight to the bank. I located the branch and arrived there at 7:08am, I walked inside the building and met similar faces I saw the day I went for my offer letter. I joined them and we were all told to go into a room. I counted the new staffs present and we are about 38 in number. A man came inside, he introduced himself as the assistant project coordinator and he asked everyone to show his/her offer letters which we all did, after then, he obtained our names on a piece of paper and he left the room. During this period, I was busy chatting with betty and updating her about the happenings in the bank. At 10am, the man came back and divided us into 3 groups and he gave us a manual to read. He set up a projector and a slide and he told us we would be trained on our job roles that monday and throughout the week. Everyone got a chair to seat on, people who knew one another were socialising while I was just looking at people because I have no one to relate with. At about 11am, the training/seminar was about to commence. The assistant project coordinator picked his phone and called someone on his phone. Like two minutes later, the door was opened and a sound of "ko ka ko ka ko ka" began to emanate from the door, I turned around long with the other new staffs to look at who was playing beats with the heels of her shoe, behold, it was a moderately slim woman, she has a moderately big burst, a nicely curved hips, I micro gown revealing her laps and she has a nice cat-walk steps. She walked pass me and I could see her nicely "shooted" ass which was well packaged in her mini gown. From my view, this lady/woman should be 35years of age in maximum. She greeted us and walked to the front of the podium and stood beside the assistant project coordinator, they both whispered to each other for like 2 minutes and after then, the assistant project coordinator introduced her saying "Hi everybody, this is my boss, she is funmilayo and she is the line manager of this Unit.

Episode 2 Episode 2. "Good afternoon ma" we all echoed. She replied us and said " thank your stars that you guys are new staffs here, otherwise, I will just deduct 1,000 naira each from your salaries for addressing me as "MA", we all looked in amazement. She continued and said "yes, don't be surprised. In this bank, we call one another by names, we are all colleagues. If you aren't comfortable calling your superior by name, you can simply add MR or MRS or Miss as a prefix to his/her name. Is that understood?" We all replied by saying "yes". A team-lead and a sub team-lead was assigned to every team before the commencement of the training. We were told that we will be reporting to the sub team-lead, the sub team-lead will report to the team-lead, the team lead will report to the project/assistant project supervisor and from the supervisor to funmilayo the line manager. The training of the first day lasted till about 6pm and I was so tired. At the closure of that day, I switched on my phone and got chat messages from bimpe saying "onihaxy dear, how was the first day at your new work?". I was surprised on how she got to know about my new job. I replied her to let us chat when I reach home. She replied me that she won't be able to chat with me because she would be at home with henry. I was so happy and we ended the chat. The second day, we resumed our trainings and continued till thursday that week, at every breaks, I would always chat with betty and segun, giving them updates on my new job. Bimpe too would always disturb me with messages and I would be forced to reply her after numerous "HIl" In the evening after work, bimpe called my phone. EPISODE 4 After ending my chat with segun, I sat down thinking about all what segun said to me on phone, I made up my mind that I was going to face bimpe once and for all. He gave me some steps to follow and put me through on how to handle the situation. After eating dinner at night, I picked my phone and called betty. ME: hi dear BETTY: my love, how are you and how is work today? ME: fine but stressful. BETTY: eyah sowie, first week at work is always stressful, you know, trying to adapt to the environment, and so on.....I have really missed you honey. ME: ***confused. Isn't it the same girl I was told negative things about?*** same here honey. I can't wait to see you too. Can we see this weekend? BETTY: hmmmmm, I don't think so ME: why dear? BETTY: I will be visiting a sister in ikorodu tomorrow for her daughter's wedding, I won't return until sunday night. ME: really?, and you didn't tell me all this while?. Episode 7 ]Episode 7 The following day, I was just bored and worried at home, I just sat down and began to flash back to all that happened during the week. I thought of bimpe's accusations against betty, I thought of betty's decision to travel to Abuja and how the incident matched what bimpe told me, I thought of bimpe's past bad record of evil , I thought of her recent love feelings towards me, I thought of what segun told to me and I was just confused. "Could this be true?" " What if betty is actually dating another guy?" " What will then be my fate?" " Is betty hiding something?" " Will the dream scope of segun work?" " What if she broke the news to me that it is real?" " What do I do next?" " Will bimpe be an alternative?" "Will I start girl-hunting all over again?" Different thoughts and question began to flood my heart and I was getting confused the more. I looked at the clock and it was 7am, I picked my phone and wanted to call betty, I just don't know where to start from and how to present and arrange the dream, I had to drop my phone again to engage in another round of thinking. At few minutes to 8am, betty called me and I was afraid to pick up because I still don't know how to present the dream or react to her on phone. After the fifth missed call, she sent me a text telling me she had left home for ikorodu. I remained silent and moody inside the room and decided to watch a movie. I was watching the movie until around 12pm when Adebimpe initiated a chat and I responded, I began to flow along with her chat and before I knew it, I was already two hours gone on the keypad, I was just smiling and laughing as bimpe was cracking so many jokes and I reciprocated, I suddenly found adebimpe interesting on chats that I was carried away and I forgot that she was once my sworn enemy. At around 3pm, I decided to call betty and apologised for not picking her calls on the grounds that my cousin took my phone out, I tried breaking the dream to her but I found my heart skipping beats and I decided to let it go that day. The following week, I resumed back to the bank and continued with my project and working well to meet up with the daily targets and to also get along with funmilayo my boss whom I stayed at her entrance. During break on Wednesday in one of my chat sessions, betty told me she would be travelling on friday morning. ME: friday morning? That's next tomorrow? BETTY: yes dear, I will definitely miss you honey ME: sweetheart, I will miss you more. I don't even know how to cope with your absence. BETTY: don't worry dear, I will be back soonest ME: when will you be back? BETTY: can't really say, but at most, I will stay for two weeks. ME: ok dear. That reminds me. BETTY: what is that dear? ME: *** gathered courage*** I had a terrible dream about us last night. Episode 8 Episode 8 On thursday morning, I left home for work as usual. I got to my desk in the morning and resumed work. My heart was filled with worries, fear and anxiety as I became uncomfortable on my seat. For some moments, I would just stare into the ceiling and soliloquies with account packages on the table unattended to, at a point, I was shedding tears and I don't know it, the fear of "is this how I will loose betty?" filled my heart and I couldn't concentrate on anything. My temperature was raised immediately . At around 10am, I got an envelope on the notification of my system. It was a message on my microsoft outlook, I opened it and discovered that it was a message from funmilayo which says "onihaxy, see me in my office immediately". I got scared and I was so worried. From the history of funmilayo that I was told about, I heard that she is very dangerous and bossy, she is rude, arrogant and deadly, she doesn't send for staffs anyhow and every of her subordinates feared her as she can fire anybody, I also heard that whenever she sent such mail, its either she wanted to fire someone or she wanted to serve someone a query. She ought to have travelled out for her Msc since she finished service but her dad vowed never to sponsor her unless she obey his will. Episode 16 EPISODE 16. The next day which was sunday, I was so anxious to see my new apartment that I didn't go to church that morning. I trekked to fadeyi and took BRT to maryland. From the bustop, I crossed to the side where bikes used to stay. I gave them the description given to me by bimpe and I board a bike and was dropped infront of the building. it was a storey building with a fence surrounding it. I knocked at the gate and a young man came to open the gate for me to come in. He enquired about who I am and I told him my sister got an apartment here on my behalf. I showed him the receipt bimpe gave me and he smiled and said "your sister or your wife?". I was like, what do you mean sir?. He replied, "I'm the caretaker of this house, and when our agent brought this lady to me, I told him I'm not giving out the apartment to a single lady or a single guy because I needed someone who would take care of the compound, then she told me its her boyfriend that would be staying here and that she would be coming around often. So why are you denying her?". I just laughed and was just speechless. "You guys of these days sef, I don't just know why you like to deny your spouses and call them your sisters" he further said. I just laughed and joked over it as the man took me to the apartment. I entered and saw that it was a room and parlour selfcontain with an inbuilt bathroom, kitchen and toilet. "Chaiiii!!!! I don upgrade", I checked the room and found a new mattress, rug and some other items, I was just so overwhelmed and my joy knew no bounds. I returned to mushin that evening and I informed my cousin that I got an apartment in maryland. He was so surprised because he knew how much I earn but I lied to him that it was sublet to me by a friend who relocated to another state and still has 6 months rent left. I moved in the following week and was going there every evening after work. Bimpe suddenly became someone I can't do without chatting and talking with. We were so close and intimate again as if she wasn't the same bimpe who was once my greatest nightmare. We would always talk in the morning when she get to work. We would chat sometimes on break when she Is less busy, and we must chat in the evening. I found myself getting more attracted to her but I keep trying to resist any feelings towards her. I also talked with betty and she told me she won't be coming back to lagos that weekend, I felt disturbed at first but bimpe's company reduced the pain of not been able to see my love on weekend. Up till thursday, segun's number wasn't going through and mails weren't delivering. I became so worried and I called one of his girlfriends whom I have her contacts, she told me "segun!!!!, don't even ask of him from me again onihaxy, I don't have anything to do with him again, its been long we broke up". *****hmmm sege bad guy!!, e don chop this babe and run be that******. I became more worried that I became uncomfortable and don't know what else to do again. At about 5:30pm that evening, i was at work when I got a call from someone. ME: hello CALLER: hello, good evening, ME: good evening. CALLER: am I speaking with onihaxy? ME: yes, who is this? CALLER: ok good. CALLER: He purchased a stolen phone from someone, ME: a stolen phone? CAlLER: yes, that's not all, the phone was inside a SUV and both the car and the phone was stolen at the same time. So the phone was traced to him. So he has been charged for armed robbery. ME: huuh, when did it happen? CALLER: since last week. ME: where is him now? CALLER: he is in the police custody and may be charged to court any moment from now unless we find the person who sold the phone to him or we settle the police so as to prevent the case from getting to court, but I'm not sure the second option will be possible because the owner of the phone and car wanted the matter to get to court, ME: heeeeeee. CALLER: since I'm the lawyer working on his case, he gave me your number to call you and inform you about what happened to him. ME: eyah, I have been trying his line since last week and it wasn't going through. I have been so worried. CALLER: yes, the phone is with the police. let's just keep praying we find the seller of the phone because he eloped immediately he heard segun was arrested. ME: ok sir, thank you sir, is this your number? CALLER: yes ME: ok thanks, I will save it and give you a call. CALLER: no problem. Bye I became so weak and restless. "He must have been badly beaten by now" " Na crime to buy phone from someone now oo" "I just wish I can see him right way". " He must have been seriously injured by now". I was so lost in thoughts until one of my team members came to my desk and banged the table, that was when I came back to reality. I just managed to finish my daily target at work that day because I wasn't happy and I wasn't myself, my only best friend is in police custody and might go to jail. Funmi noticed my mood that day and enquired about what was happening to me but I told her I was fine. I closed for the day at 6pm and I went home. I was still worried and unhappy, I thought about everything that had happened between us, how we have both went through the thick and thin together, everything we shared and I was shedding tears as my best friend was on his way to jail. I prepared noodles that night and I couldn't eat it. At around 8:30pm, I picked my phone and wanted to talk with the lawyer and I discovered my phone was off, I then remembered I switched it off immediately after receiving his call when I just didn't feel like talking to anyone. I switched on the phone and I got a message from the lawyer saying "hi, I have been trying to call you but your number is unreachable, please call back when you get this message". I got scared again and was thinking what could be happening, I checked my airtime balance and found just 4naira credit on my phone, I flashed the guy and he called back. ME: hello, I just saw your message, my phone has been off since. TUNDE: yes, I called you but your number wasn't reachable. I wanted to give you updates after leaving the police station this evening. ME: ok, what is the update?, any good news?, has my friend been released?, TuNDE: the police said if we are able to raise 100k before friday evening which is tomorrow, he will be released and the police will forget and scrap the case. ME: haaa, that's too much money oo. TUNDE: you just have to act fast, because after tomorrow and the money is not available, he will be taken to court on monday morning, and from the look of things, its likely for him to get atleast 6years jail. ME: ok, have you made any contact with his relatives? TUNDE: no, none of his relative is aware, he said he doesn't want them to know about it so as not to put them in tension. ME: haa, TUNDE: please, don't inform his family please, only his few selected friends are aware of it. ME: so what do we do now? TUNDE: just try and arrange for the money and send to me tomorrow morning so as to work on it faster. The earlier the better. ME: I don't have that much at hand at the moment sir, what do I do now? TUNDE: just try and send the money to the account number I will send to you as a text after this call, its very important if you don't want your friend to go to jail. ME: ok sir, let me see what I can do TUNDE: just do something fast about it. And please, don't inform any of his family please. ME: ok sir TUNDE: ok, I will call back tomorrow morning. Pls try and get something before then. ME: ok sir TUNDE: bye. A text came in after the call and I checked, it was an account number from the lawyer. I sat down on my bed and I started thinking of where to get money before the next day to send to this lawyer. The only person that came to my mind was bimpe. "But how do I tell her that I needed that huge amount?, and the worst thing was that how do I tell her I needed it for segun?. On the other hand, I began to think this could be a scam. How can someone be locked up and his family would not be aware of his arrest?.
