A Lagos Island Customary Court on Thursday
dissolved the marriage between Nollywood
actor, Emeka Ike, and his wife, Emma over
alleged incessant battery.
According to a report by the News Agency of
Nigeria (NAN) Aproko, Emma, a teacher, had
on July 13, 2015 approached the court to
dissolve the 14-year-old marriage between her
and Emeka.
The Court President, Mr Awos Awosola, said
that from the evidence before the court, it was
obvious that the marriage was beyond
redemption.
Emeka Ike who had pleaded with the court not
to end the marriage because he still loved his
wife was found not doing enough to reconcile
with his wife, so the court dissolved the
marriage.
Emma has subsequently returned the bride
price of N300 that was paid by Emeka, but
the court awarded the custody of their four
children to the husband and ordered that the
wife must have unhindered access to them.
The mother of four children had earlier told
the court that her husband had been
physically and verbally abusing her all
through the duration of their marriage.
OUR UNRELIABLE APROKO reports a financial
expert says Emma actually owed Emeka more
than N300 if exchange rate calculation from
the year they were married to this day were
put into consideration; claiming 10 years ago
N300 is worth N2000 in today's market. The
finacial expert has asked Emeka to counter
sue his ex wife for financial cheating.
