BALLISTIC SYNCRETISM
One good thing about history is that it's ever
retentive and with her iron sceptre haunts offenders
of humanity even long after they have turned to bitter
grim ashes.
Any wonder everyone tries to have a page in her
never-ending or more appropriately ever
accommodating and all encompassing notebook?
History has opened propitiously for me and in its
wake filled me with this.
The world is in a constant state of flux and every age
tries to move with its problems;more crudely and
less hypocritically its vice, its frailties and particularly
its dwindling morality.
The whole world suffered a wrong view on sexuality
just because Sigmund Freud sold his ideas and
history hasn't forgotten him yet. From bouts of
territorial expansion of crude world monarchs to
struggle for world power and dominance which
donated the two world wars we've ever had. A little
further brought us to the embittered slave trade and
the following checkered reality of colonialism that left
on its track record scores of human victims. Further
forays landed us to the sore of religious violence that
on its own flagitiousness,heightened life's
contingency.
In my own African setting, the biafran war spear-
headed the continent's own tragic flaws only because
tribalism was enthroned at the cost of mutual
telepathy. Needless to say,the dictators' role had lent
the scene a more bloody quality. A fact that triggered
Soyinka's "A play of Giants",riddiculing their myopic
brute insensitivity and ignorance.
Drawing home in picturesque, the contemporary saga
buggling peaceful souls remains the US Supreme
Court ruling on the legalization of same sex union.
What more could we make out of this mess?
The world is degenerating in morality and principle
to put it mildly. This is in a bid to be fair to lovers of
perversion, setting life free from every primordial
hardship at the cost of their moral worth.
Critics might ask what is my business on this? But let
it come to you once and for all that evil is evil even if
everybody does it and benighted in the anonymous
authority of we. And that good is good even if nobody
does it.
In not wanting to say, know that as Dante Alighieri
(famous Italian writer and poet) would always
say:"The darkest place in hell are reserved for those
who maintain their neutrality in times of moral
crisis".
My take on the US malady is simple. It is unholy, not
sacrosanct and devoid of morality. May they also not
be in a haste to forget that history is noting as
well, that thinly veiled virtue of theirs,if at all they
have,over malevolent clairvoyance.
I hope my African compatriots would not be swayed
into partaking of this mess as a way of legislation
sometime.
