Security men yesterday
recovered five human heads
from the residence of a
community leader in Mangu
Local Government Area of
Plateau State generating
concern among residents of
the area.

The human heads were
recovered after a search of
the premises by a combined
team of soldiers and
policemen who stormed
Mangun village around 10.30
am following a tip off,
according to sources.

The security men who
reportedly came from Abuja
arrived in the village in about
five Hilux vans and
immediately cordoned off
the premises of the
community leader popularly
called Ardo and began a
search which yielded the
recovery of the human heads
hidden in the ceiling.

Eyewitnesses added that
some arms and ammunition
were also recovered from
the premises. The community
leader was said to have been
taken away with the human
heads and the arms found.
Chairman, Management
Committee of the local
government, Mr. Ifa Shikben
confirmed the findings and
the arrest of the Ardo but
could not give details saying
he merely stumbled on the
scene.

According to him, he was
returning from an armed
robbery scene when he ran
into the raid on the Ardo’s
residence.

Meanwhile, more corpses
have been reportedly
discovered in Wase Local
Government Area following
Wednesday’s sectarian crisis
even as the state
government expressed
concern over the outbreak of
fresh hostilities in some
parts of the state.

Sources from the local
government said about five
bodies were recovered
yesterday as the hostilities
between natives and
pastoralists worsened.
Condemning the resurgence
of violence in Wase, Jos
South and Barkin Ladi local
government areas, the
Commissioner for
Information, Mr. Yiljap
Abraham said in a statement
that they “appear
deliberately aimed at
plunging the state into larger
and perpetual conflict.”

He urged the people to
remain calm assuring that
government had initiated
steps to douse tension and
avoid a spread of the
violence.
