"i'm sorry for my phone which went off earlier, seems like my phone have developed a little fault cos it just started going off every minute today" i apologised and explained to mirabel{chinwes roomate} when we later met in school an hour later and she smiled in understanding, "its ok just that i was kinda surprised when your number{phone} went off" she said to me as she sipped the malt i bought for her...... For i had taken her to a small shop at the back of school cafe that morning in order to have a quiet talk with her, "who really was that guy i saw in your room that monday i visited your hostel?" i asked her, for i still was really dying to know the identity of the other guy who i saw in their room that monday evening and she smiled, "hmmm why do you want to know?" she asked me and i shruggled, "just only curious" i said to her while she gave me those silly look of her's which really was very typical of her and which i had not gotten to understand the meaning, "well the guy you saw is my cousin chuks a student of nekede{a federal poly. Situated outside owerri town}, buh, he really is crazy about chinwe though" she answered me, and i smiled in pain even though her words really hurt me for i couldn't really bear the thought of my chinwe hanging out with another guy, "but do you think she will still take me back into her life again?" i asked her as if she was in chinwe's mind and she just looked at me as if i had asked her a silly question which really was what i had asked and she shook her head, "forget about chinwe for i think she is trying to move on with her life unless you want to hurt yourself the more, for i doubt if she will ever take you back again, not after what just happened between you both" she replied while i looked down in resignation........
"I really had gotten fond of her, that i can't imagine how my stay in owerri would be without her company" i said to mirabel in despair, and she looked at me with pity, "don't worry i can still help out as a friend when you need company" she said to me in consolation and i thanked her, even though i really had nothing else in my mind that moment, for i was still hurt and bleeding from the pain which chinwe's parting words had caused me............ For no matter how strong one really is, you can never be prepared for the hurt and pain of a break up........ 'Unless' 'hmmm' unless..... You have truly stopped caring about the person for long...........
