"What is it James?" John asked quizzically, staring into his eyes as if he could find the answer he was looking for in it.
"John, you won't believe this." he said excitedly.
"Believe what?"
"Remember my dog?" James asked.
"Yes, I do. What happened to it?" John replied.
"'It'? No, do not refer to my dog as 'it'!" James shrieked.
"Stop this suspense thingy. What happened to… her?"
"She was put to bed yesterday. She gave birth to 8 bouncing baby puppies" He grinned.
"What?" John shrilled. "Is that why you were running like a domestic animal? And who are you to them? Their father? I guess so." John said disappointedly.
"Stop being rude, man. You know how much I love my dog. Plus, I've got an even more exciting news." James replied excitedly, rubbing his palms together.
"What news?" John asked, folding his hands and posed in such a way that shows he was interested.
"There's this new girl in school, and I think you are gonna like her." James said winking.
"Haha. Funny. So? How does that concern me, James?" He said disappointedly.
"Well, I know you are gonna like her, and oh! She's pretty. Even Hannah would be…" James was cut short by Hannah who stood behind them.
"Even Hannah would be what?" She asked, looking beautiful as always. Hannah was dark in complexion, average height, and slender.
"Hey! Hannah. Good to see you!" The boys chorused.
"Save it! What were you boys saying about me?" She asked, standing arms akimbo.
"Oh, there's this school competition coming up next week and we thought that you would love to participate." James said, grinning.
"Competition? I wasn't aware." She said, looking at them suspiciously.
"Oh, maybe you came in late." James defended.
"Whatever!" Hannah said, diverting her attention to John who stood beside James. "Johnny boy, I missed you. I missed you so much." She said romantically.
"Oh, I missed you too." James replied, nervously.
"Really?" She asked with smiles.
"Yes, I do." He replied, trying to maintain composure.
"Awwn. I knew…" the school bell rang, stopping Hannah from completing her statement.
"Oh, I have to go now." He said, using the opportunity to dodge whatever she was gonna say.
John left dragging James along, who followed him like a 4-year-old child.
"Why did you do that?" James asked as they walked through the school corridor which was packed with students. "She's a Devil in a Sheep's clothing." He retorted, frowning.
"Hmm. Hot Devil, I agree. But, that's not the reason you left in such manner, is it?
"I'm just avoiding her drama." john replied.
"Drama? Hmm. You like her, don't you?"
"I do not."
"You do."
"I do not."
"John, are you gay?"
"Just shut your round mouth with annoying sound. You nutcase."
"'Nutcase'? Hmm. That's new."
John increased his pace as he hurried to class, leaving James behind. He walked absentmindedly, thinking about James' question. He was deep in thought when he bumped into a girl who was just leaving the class for the restroom.
"Are you blind? Do you need medicated glasses? Watch where you are going next time, moron." She shrieked, and the entire class, especially the girls turned to them to watch the drama. John's friends, who were equally watching the scene, gave him the "how could a girl talk to you like that" look. Of course he understood the look. He neither wanted to retaliate nor create a scene. But what could he do?
