A strong scent, which I perceived to be an anticeptic, hit my nostrils and my eyes fluttered open. I looked ~around and saw Samuel sitting beside me. He immediately got out and I heard him yelling "Doctor, doctor, she has finally woken up" the doctor quickly rushed in and checked something above me. I still couldn't comprehend what was going on. Why was I in a hospital bed? ~And why was I feeling an excruciating pain in my head? Did I faint due to my stressful life or what?
As I was mentally asking myself these questions ~, everything started to play in my hea d. Nelson and the prostitute, our heated argument and the wooden center table hitting my head. I instantly felt a sharp pain in my ~head as I relived that moment. "Are you okay?" The doctor asked out of concern as she saw me wince. "I'm fine doctor" I managed to say. She smiled at me. "You'll be out of here in no time. I can see from your face ~that you hate hospitals". She wrote something down and left. Samuel came back with food after some few minutes and started serving me. It was when the aroma hit my nostrils that I realized that I was ~really hungry. I started devouring the food right after I was served. It was boiled yam and garden egg stew. "So where's Alex? " I asked after I had finished eating. "he's with Gina. I didn't w ant ~him to see you this way. You'll see him when you get discharged." I nodded as he explained. I was curious of the whereabouts of Nelson but I didn't want to ask. "He ran away a ~fter what he did to you. The police is looking for him at the moment ." He said as if he read my mind. I ~nodded again. "Cynthia, I don't know why you even married this man. He has done nothing but caused you pain and suffering. Gina told me ~about all the things you go through everyday with that man but still refuse to file for a divorce. You have ~to divorce him immediately." He said looking at my face all this while. " Okay, I'll divorce him. What's the first step?" I confidently ~said. I could see Samuel was somehow surprised. I'm sure Gina told him there was no way I'd divorce him. That was true. I used to believe that people change and ~that Nelson would . But not anymore. He wasn't ready to change.
Samuel got a call from someone so he went out to receive it. He came inside looking very happy. "Nelson has been caught and he'll go to jail very soon" He uttered happily.
