I wasn't even given the chance to recover the slap and another one followed making me stagger back. A strong blow to my tummy followed and I fell on my knees unable to contain the pain. "You stupid idiot. You dare cheat on me. You dare bring your foolish lover to my own house. You take me for a fool, huh? You are the biggest fool here if you don't know." He kept kicking me with his leg as he ranted those words to me. I then realized that he might have found out Samuel came here but took it the wrong way.
"I'm not chea....." I wasn't able to finish because another kick followed. As he was hitting me, I noticed that Alex was standing by his door. I could see fear, pain and regret in his eyes. I was hurt to see my son that way. I gathered my last strength to raise my body a bit and kicked Nelson in the balls. He immediately stopped hitting me and fell down. I took the opportunity and ran to my son's room and locked it.
I hugged Alex tightly and told him to stop crying. "Open the door this minute or you won't like what I'll do to you" I heard Nelson yell behind the door. "Cynthia, don't let me break this door down" I was so scared. If he breaks this door down, he'll kill me. I squirmed. I heard him try to break the door but he couldn't so he stopped. After an hour, there was a soft knock on the door. "Cynthia, please open the door. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have reacted that way." I didn't say a word. "Please come out and let's talk" He said calmly. Why is he being nice and gentle all of a sudden? I asked myself. "Please Cynthia, I'm really hungry. Come ~out and cook something for me to eat" ohh.. so that's why he's being nice.
This man is really irritating. He wants me to cook *for him after everything? He's joking. After I refused to answer him, he left. I slept in my son's room that night. The next day, I ~came out of the room to find Nelson's absenc* e. I was extremely relieved. I went to the kitchen to prepare something but I heard a knock on the door before I got there. I opened the door and sa w Samuel standing there. I felt a sting on my face when I tried to smile at him.
But there was a deep frown on his face ~. "What happened to you Cynthia?" He asked with a worried look. I was about to lie but I heard Alex's voice. "It was Daddy Nelson. He beat mommy up yesterday". I turned a nd saw him walking towards us. "Please Samuel, you have to leave now. " Knowing Samuel very well, he still cared about me and would want to pay Nelson back but I didn't want that disaster. "No, I'm going to wait right here for that shameless man to come. And I'll.." "And you'll what?". Nelson interrupted. We turned and saw him standing there with his fists clenched.
