shadow of love episode 60

Created by Valentine Valentine in shadow of love 4 Dec 2019
During the ride home, i kept cursing myself. Wasn't i good looking enough? Or is there something wrong with me? Goodness knows I haven't felt this bad before. I know he saw it in my eyes. It was there for him to see, but he decided to ignore me, making me feel cheap and unwanted.
I stopped at a spa belonging to my friend and remade my hair, did the pedicure and manicure thing and left without having the usual saloon gossip.
I got to the estate gate and I saw them, the new estate lovers. They were at the suya stand, with Lois pointing at what she wanted while Leonard held her waist like she was going to fall if he left her alone.
I parked and got ready to meet my best friend, who had made no attempt to reach me since my discharge from the hospital. I was going to bare my mind to her and if Leonard dares to interfere, I'll so give him a piece of my mind.
I got to where they were standing and cleared my throat, they turned and I could see surprise written all over her face.

Lois: Uhm ..... Hi.

Me: Can I talk to you in private please?

She looked at Leonard who nodded and she held my hand. We walked to my car and got in.

Lois: How're you bestie?

Me: Bestie? How can you call me that when it's obvious I do not mean anything to you anymore?

Lois: Ah! How can you say that? I know I've not been the best kind of friend but I've been very busy. I .....

Me: You moved out of my place because I needed a quiet time to fix back my life. As if that was not enough, after I was discharged, you and Leonard stayed away from me. To think we are all living in same estate and you never checked up on me or even called to know how I was faring.

Lois: It's not like that.

Me: Then what is it like? I've known you and Leonard for a while now but look at Harry and Amber, people I met in this estate, looking after me like I was their own.

Lois: I'll refuse to be compared with anybody Pamela. I said it's not my fault I couldn't check up on you. I was so busy.

Me: With what? Lois, what is this thing that has kept you away from me?

Lois: Leonard and I are .......

She paused and looked away. It was clear. Leonard has taken my friend away from me. I remembered Harry saying they'll be going to Abidgan and I nodded.

Me: I prayed and wished for you and Leonard to be together. My prayers got answered and you both kicked me out of your life.

Lois: Nobody kicked you away Pamela, you pushed yourself away from us.

I swallowed hard and looked at her. She still wasn't looking at me.

Lois: How can you be so selfish? You kept pretending that you wanted me happy ......

Me: Pretending?

Lois: When all the while you had wanted Leonard. What kind of friend does that make you? Do you think I'll ever trust you again? Do you think I'll ever be comfortable around you?

She was saying trash or was it my ear that was hearing something else? Leonard has so brainwashed my friend against me and I'm not going to forgive him for that. Tears welled up in my eyes but I refused to let them fall. I'm no weakling and she'll see that.

Lois: ......... how do you expect me to still put up with you when you've never trusted me to tell me your true feelings? I couldn't bring myself to believe all that ......

Me: Then why didn't you ask me? If you claim to have known me from Abraham then I'm disappointed that you don't know me at all. Listen, I don't care whatever Leonard told you but get something straight here, you see Leonard, he'll so disappoint you in this life. I'm not going to try to prove myself to a friend who was never there by the ways so go on with your life. Is it Abidgan you guys are going or is it marriage you guys are planning? I don't care. Since you walked out, I'll pretend that you were never there and move on with my life. You may get out now.

Lois; You're asking me out of your car?

Me: Yes. And you better come and pick up the rest of your stuffs in my house. What's the difference between Claire and yourself? Or even Franca? You're the same lot as those two.

Lois: I .....

Me: No, you listen. A friendship without trust is not worth keeping. You've said it already, I'm a liar, I'm selfish, and other things you said but hey, don't you think a guy will go any length to get a girl on his bed? You'll come back begging Lois because Leonard isn't who you think he is.

A few seconds of silence reigned in the car and I looked out to see Leonard coming towards my car.

Me: I'll be leaving tomorrow by 10 or 11. Come pick your things before that time or I'll throw them out.

Lois; Pamela you .......

Me: Just get out.

Leonard tapped on the window and she got down. I turned on my ignition and drove home. How many hurts in a day. I'm so not keeping friends anymore. I'm so not trusting anybody anymore. What did Leonard tell her? That I wanted him? What? I packed in front of my house and killed the ignition, relaxing back on my seat. I closed my eyes and the tears ran down. How many disappointments in one day? On one hand, I've got Greg to think of and the other hand, I've got a friend who stopped being a friend today. It was clear I was cursed.
I fished for my phone to call my dad and then I noticed my phone was ringing. It was William.

Me: Hello Will.

William: How're you Pamel?

Me: It won't get worse but I'm fine.

William: You don't sound fine. Tell me, is everything okay with you?

Me: I'm fine Will.

William: If you say so. I called to know how you're doing.

Me: I'm fine. Harry is doing so well in turning me into a child. So I'm fine.

He laughed and I wondered what was funny.

William: You deserve all the care in the world bae. I'll be coming back next week. What do I get you?

Me: Anything.

William: Don't be like that. Tell me exactly what you want and I'll get it for you.

Me: A portrait of myself and a wrist watch.

William: Alright then. I'll talk to you later alright?

Me: Thank you William.

William: You're most welcomed my dear.

We hung up and I got down from the car, picking up my things which were in the back seat.
I got into the house and unpacked the bags, then brought my travel bag and packed in the things I would be needing for our trip to Enugu. I called Amber and she confirmed that we'll be leaving around 11am. I told her I'll be coming with my car but she said it wasn't advisable since I'm still recovering and that Harry won't like it.

I rearranged my room, cleaned the entire house since I was travelling. After I was done, I strode into my kitchen to cook dinner. I peeled the yam and put it on the cooker and went to the sitting room to call my dad. It's been ages I spoke with them. They didn't even know what has been happening to their daughter.

Dad: Hello my Angel.

Me: Good evening dad.

Dad: How're you my dear?

Me: I'm good daddy. How's mum?

Dad: She's good. Though she's not back from the supermarket.

Me: Oh! Today is Thursday.

Dad: Yes my love. So tell me, how have you been?

Me: I've been fine dad, just a little stress from work.

Dad: I don't know why you're so stubborn. I gave you work leave and you ......

Me: Daddy don't start now. I'll be travelling to Enugu tomorrow.

Dad: Tell me it's with that young man of Lincoln Dayzee.

Me: Dad! Anyways, if I come back, I'll visit. I've got gist for you.

Dad: You know my ears are always itching for such wonderful news.

Me: You're a gossip dad.

Dad: Good night my angel. Be safe for me okay.

Me: You too dad.

I hung up and checked my phone. A message had gotten in while I was speaking with Mr Bernard.

"I don't know what you've told her but do you ever think she'll believe you? She should be at your door anytime soon. Don't make things more awkward than it is already"
