Siwes Boss wants N15,000 I.T Allowance scrapped.

The Director General, Industrial Training Fund, ITF, Prof. Sambo
Longmas Wapmuk while speaking before the Committee on Civil Society, Labour and Sports at the on- going National
Conference revealed that the fund currently owes an accumulated
debt of N12million to students in its Students Work Experience Scheme, SIWES.

According to him, this was as a result of under- funding from the federal government and called for total scrapping of allowance payments since the government
is not meeting up with the demands.
He however advocated that SIWES
should be retained and called for
understanding on the part of parents saying N15, 000 for the
period of 6 months training for the students was not too much sacrifice for them to make.
