*Noah's point of view*
I didn't know what to think. For the first time in my life, I actually felt fear. I wasn't even scared when my father left or when Drew cane and threatened me. No, I wasn't..
But the thought of loosing Casey, not knowing where she waa, drive me to the point of insanity.
I couldn't breathe, my heart wanted to leap out, but I had to be strong.
"She was standing here right now" Anna said, she was talking to one of the Mall attendant. But I couldn't talk to anyone, my mouth couldn't even open, I was too much in a shock to talk my mind only thought of Casey
What if Drew had gotten a hold on her?
What If she was kidnapped?
What if?
A crash drew my attention while I was running around, searching under the shelves.
I turned towards the noise, obviously Anna hadn't heard it because I could still hear her talking to the attendant.
I walked towards the end of the shelves and find a doll, the exact doll Casey had been staring at on the floor.
That means she was here, why was the doll on the floor?
She wanted it right? So why abandon something you want?
I walked carefully, not making any noise when I heard some hushed voices, quickly I recognized Casey's, I picked up a candle stick on one of the shelves and moved closer.
"My daddy says I'm big, very big" I heard her say, she didn't sound in danger but I knew better. She was a kid, she could be talking to a serial killer and she wouldn't know.
I hid behind the shelf and peeped.
Standing beside Casey was Theo, the mechanic from the racing spot. One of my dad's closest friends.
"Whereis your dad, he would be looking for you don't you think?" Theo asked, handling Casey a teddy bear. "Here, they last longer than those dolls, you can name him whatever you want"
Casey took the white fluffy teddy bear from Theo with a grin. "It's not a him, it's a girl"
Theo chuckled before turning to my direction, "Noah?"
I didn't want him to see me, because he'll know that Casey was my kid. And I didn't want him to know that.
"What are you doing here Noah?"
"See, see what this man gave me!" Casey squealed, raising up the teddy bear to my face.
"I came to get some goods" I said, ignoring Casey but she didn't seem to mind, and continued petting the ready bear.
"Who's she to you?" Theo pointed at Casey, and I stiffened, hoping Casey didn't hear, but she was still petting the bear, all her attention on it.
"She's my neighbor's kid, he asked me to pick her up from school" I said, glancing away to avoid eye contact.
"Hmm, well she's a good kid. I wanted to get a screw, you're coming tonight for the semi finals right?"
"Yes, I'll be there before midnight to warm up. Please get the car ready"
"Sure do". Theo said, walking off but giving Casey one more glance.
"Where the hell where you?" I shouted, turning to Casey whose head snapped towards me.
I bent down to her level and shook yet shoulders carelessly. "Where did you go? Why did you run off without telling me?"
The fear in Casey's eyes didn't move me one bit. She had dropped the doll already. And her eyes brimmed with tears. I couldn't fall for that now.
"Do you know what could have happened if you met someone else, someone who could kill you?"
I shook her harder.
"Never, ever do that again, ok?!!" I shouted.
For a second, everything was quiet before Casey burst out into tears. She had covered her eyes with her hands and her body shook from crying.
What have I done?
"Noah!" Anna came rushing towards us, the mall attendant running behind her.
"What happened? Why us Casey crying?" She knelt beside her and wrapped her around her arms.
Buy I couldn't speak. I had been so angry and poured it out on Casey, I didn't even stop to think that I shouted at her and gripped her too tight.
No I had been so caught up in my anger and I failed yo see that I was hurting someone else .
Not just anyone, but my daughter, my two years old daughter.
The sight of Casey crying, and Anna trying to console her you're my heart to a million pieces, I couldn't stand and watch this.
I walked away, out of the Mall and rested my head on the wall.
I couldn't do this. I couldn't. What was wrong with me?
What the hell was wrong with me?
Casey hadn't even stayed with me for a week and I was already winning worst dad of the year.
Pouring my anger on her, or Fuck sake Noah! That was your kid in there!
As much as I tried to believe I could apologize and make amends, there was that voice at the back of my mind telling me I couldn't do this. I just couldn't do this anymore.
I couldn't take care of Casey. She was too fragile, kind and innocent to be tainted by me.
A notorious, bad boy. I couldn't take care of her and worse if Drew got his hands on her, I had to give her back to Andrea before I destroy her life.
I has to send Casey back to her. I couldn't do this anymore.
The door to the mall opened and I saw Anna walking out, the mall attendant was putting all the goods into a small bus and Casey was beside Anna, not looking up at me, she stared at her shoes, her fingers in her mouth and I wanted to rush to her and hug her and apologize.
"If it isn't Noah Bricks, fancy seeing you here at the Mall" A voice said behind me and I turned to see Drew, a cigarette between his lips and a smirk playing along.
No. No. No. Drew was here, in front of me and Anna was walking with Casey towards us. Dreq was going to know I had a daughter.
Fuck!
