When Mr James tried to depend himself as Mrs Okeke rain curses on him, Emeka became furious and slapped him on his face. The slap came as a surprise to him, he least expected it. Never in his wildest imagination did he think such thing would happen to him. He nurse at his hurting cheek and looked at Emeka in shock.
Mrs Okeke surported her son's action and asked him to do more. Emeka walked Mr James out of their house and asked him never to darken their doorstep again.
Mr. James left for his house feeling very bad. All he wanted was to save his late close friend's family from a pending doom but they have turned coolval stories the table on him and tagged him an enemy. He wept in the comfort of his room. He was too ashame to tell his family what he experienced at the Okekes' place. He kept quiet and pretended all was well.
The Dee day for the marriage ceremony eventually came and Ada and Chief Eze got married traditionally. It was a big society marriage that was graced by lots of dignitaries both home and abroad. Ada became Chief Eze’s wife and she went to live in with him in his big mansion. She has lots of servants at her beck and call and everything that would make life comfortable was at her disposal.
Chief took her to the Bahamas for their honey moon and they came back several weeks later for Chief to resume work as a busy executive. Ada remained at home as a housewife. She has plans to do something to earn her own money but for the main time, she wanted to relax and enjoy herself as a billionaire’s wife. She basked in the emphoria of the moment and live life to the fullest. She got anything she ask for at the snap of a finger. Life suddenly became sweeter than sugar.
She wondered what madness would have made her reject Chief. Life was sweet and with her new statue as chief's wife, it was sweeter.
The mansion was a large one and Ada acquainted herself with everything in it. She was the madam and every servants bow to her and obeyed all her commands.
Several weeks after, Ada noticed that there was a room in the house that was permanently locked. She wondered why it was so. She asked the servants about it and they told her it has been like that ever since they came to work in that place.
Ada became more curious about the room. She wondered why it was permanently under lock and key.
When her husband came back from work that night, she playfully told him that she has broken the doors to the room that was permanently locked. Chief threw her a shocked look.
“You did what,” he asked and immediately he stood up and ran out of their room. Ada followed him, she wondered why Chief behaved the way he did. Chief ran to the door of the mysterious room. He tried the lock and it was locked. He gave a sign of relieve as he looked at her.
Ada looked at him in bewilderment; she wondered what was in the room that made him so scared when she told him she has broken the lock. He looked scared. He looked like one that wants to faint. She knew something was not adding up and she wondered what is it.
“I just wanted to pull your legs,” she explained to him. I have no intention to open a door that is under lock.
His look and mood had changed and it was chilling and it hindered any approach to personal contact. Ada recoiled at the venom she saw in her husband’s eyes. “Don’t ever pull that kind of dirty joke on me again,” he warned sternly. “What were you thinking? Stay where I put you in this house. You see this room, don't dare go inside.". He warned.
Ada quickly went on her knees and pleaded with him to forgive her. Chief asked her never to go near the room again or try to open the door. He told her that the room was his ex-wife room and out of bound to everyone. He told her that his children kept their mother’s things in the room and didn’t want anyone to go in there not even him their father. They have their mother private things there and they don't want any intruder to trespass.
They left the place and went to their room but Ada was worried. What she saw in Chief’s eyes when she told him that she broke the key to the door was chilling. He also looked very scared as if he was hiding something. There was more to what he told her. She decided that she was going to go into the forbidden room one day and see things for herself. Until she goes into the room, she wouldn’t believe what Chief told her about it being his ex wife’s room. His reaction that night made her suspected that something is not right somewhere. Definitely, there is something Chief was hiding from her and it aroused her curioness. she vowed to know what Chief was hiding from her. What exactly was in that room? Ada planned to unravel it and it was going to be very soon……..
