Episode 113

"Are you frank?" the youngest amongst them asked me with a smile, while i smiled back
"yea i'm frank, Emeka sent you guys right?" i asked,
"yea bro" he replied while i stepped aside for them to enter my room.......

Sandra wasn't pleased that i was habouring three unknown guys that night, but she equally didn't complain while i also pretended not to notice her mood. The guys however were restless throughout the night and it was very obvious they were running away from something.......

The following morning, two of them left after thanking me, while the youngest stayed behind,
"guy abeg let me just stay a couple of days with you, i just can't go home abeg" he pleaded when the others had left.......

My heart was touched when i listened as he begged, cos he really was my agemate or even younger than i,

"okay you can stay few more days with me, but you will have to tell me what is chasing you guys" i said to him while he shruggled,
"no wahala, it's just that a guy was felled in school yesterday and all men picked race" he explained, while i stared at him in confusion,
"i don't understand" i heard myself say to him,
"someone was attacked in school, which made the school security and the police to be after us, but we really do not know how it all happened, but we ran in order to be on the safe side" he further explained, while i shook my head sadly,

"but do you think here is very safe for you?" i heard myself ask,
"bro your room is the best place to hide, because you be jew man nah" he said with a smile, while i smiled back as i wondered what could have led a young boy like him into such a group, cos he neither had the strength, statue, or behaviour of cultists, except for weed which he was very good in smoking........

Throughout the rest of that week Caleb stayed with me much to sandra's disapproval, while school authorities clamped down heavily on suspected cultists, as hostels were ransacked and many of them who couldn't run arrested. On friday morning the names of expelled/suspended students were displayed on school notice board, and we all rushed there to see for ourselves......

Tears dropped from caleb's eyes, when he saw the names of some of his friends among the expelled students, while his name appeared on the list of students who were to face the school senate.........

"i'm doomed" was all he could say to me, while I searched frantically for Micheal's name in the long list, but his name wasn't in any of them..........
