THE EXCURSION. Part 1 (Non fiction)
Back then in school.
We went for a social excursion in Badagary, Lagos.
To this resort center, a popular one in Badagary.
The students that paid were mostly female while we had very few male including me.
The journey went wrong because of the hold up we were buried in, a five hour journey turned eternity and it was an unfortunate circumstances on our own part because it was meant to be a day excursion.
We got to Badagry in the midnight.
Some minutes to 12 am
Meanwhile, I was eyeing a fine girl in the school then but all my effort went futile, Fortunately for me, she was part of the journey.
"See as God dey epp pesin"
I sat closed to the window and I offered her a seat beside me.
"Will sitting with you give me two lives?" She said rudely and went to sit with her friends.
"Chai, some ladies can be rude sha" I pondered
She would stare at me and laugh out loud with her friends, I was ashamed of my self, no escape route, we were all caged in the bus.
We got to the resort and we were denied entrance because they had closed for the day and it was already late.
The social committee pleaded with the management to allow us spend few time and leave because if they didn't, our journey from Osun state would be in vain.
After a lot of deliberation, we were allowed in and we were told that we only have an hour to spend before we leave.
It was something to reckon with, we went in and had little fun.
I approached this fine girl again as a coconut head I was and asked to have few seconds with her.
She snubbed me again and made me a laughing stock.
"Me a final year student is what this fresher is doing like this? Did she even know my GPA? Nonsense!"
Our 1 hour was over and we were told to go back into the bus for movement. This time, it was few minutes to 1am.
We all converged back to our meeting point and boarded the bus. This resort center shut their gate and we moved.
It was a total black out in the Midnight, no single bulb or light was on in the community.
Suddenly, we heard car horn blaring behind us, my heart started beating fast.
I thought they were armed robbers.
"What did I have that is valuable? Only my GPA"
It was an official car from the resort center, the driver stopped the bus to hear what they have to say.
The social committee met with them and they discussed, we were all seated looking curious in the bus.
The expression on the social committee looked worried and scared.
"What is going on? Are we safe?" These questions ruminated in my mind.
Immediately I started remembering the horror films I used to watch and how vampires or monsters would speed out of the bush and start casting people out of student bus.
"Oh lord help me, my imaginations must not come to past" I prayed.
