THE KILLER'S BURIAL
Episode Two (18+)

By: Alfred Wysdom Obioma

Dad would drop us off at school, take mum to her office before going for his business. But that was the last time such happened. We all waited in vain that morning. Uncle Gilbert was the one who went to their room after much waiting to discover their lifeless bodies. It was the beginning of great sorrow for Lisa and I....... Who was the killer of our parents became the big question on everyone's lips......

It was a very dark moment for my sister and I. Uncle Gilbert has been with us in the house for many years. Infact, he's been our parent's cook even before we were born (my sister and I). No one could possibly point an accusing finger at him. It wasn't food poisoning, yet everyone wondered how their deaths came about. Uncle Ike and uncle Gilbert were both arrested by the law enforcement agency for interrogations, but were later released due to no substantial evidences. Dad and mom were buried few weeks after, then my sister and I returned to life without our parents, our mentors, our hero and heroin. It was a new phase all together in our lives coolval stories.

Uncle Ike stayed back in the village after the burials, promised to visiting us from time to time. We went back to the city with uncle Gilbert, who now became a father and mother to us. I was the next of kin to my dad, everything he owned were willed to me, even though some were in my sister's name. I was still a little boy in the secondary school, though almost rounding up. Uncle Gilbert knew much about dad's business, so he handled them really well and saw my sister and I through secondary and University education. Dad had the plans the that we (my sister and I) did our university education abroad and uncle Gilbert was able to do that. And really handled dad's business as though they were his. He played the roles of dad and mum, he made sure we didn't feel their absence. Even though we will forever miss their absence no matter what uncle Gilbert did.

Uncle Ike always visited as promised, he was always asking after our well being. He forfeited all interests in the land dad told him to stay away from and built on the one dad gave to him. He left my own land for me. Uncle Ike was really a nice uncle, I never in a day put in mind that he or uncle Gilbert were responsible for our parent's death. That was why their deaths remained a mystery to me until I discovered who the real killer was.

I graduated from a prestigious university abroad, likewise my sister two years after. Uncle Gilbert put me through things I needed to know about dad's business and then handed over everything to me. I became the C. E. O with many staffs under my watch. I struggled to pick up, but uncle Gilbert was always there to put me through. My sister got a job with an oil firm and was doing pretty well. I handled dad's business for a year and got acclimatized with the whole thing. One day, two years after I became the CEO of dad's business, I called uncle Gilbert and invited uncle Ike to inform them of my decision to settle down. I really wanted a woman that will come in and relieve uncle Gilbert of the many chores he had to undergo everyday. Lisa (my kid sis) was always busy with her job. I brought the woman I wanted settling down with and introduced her to them. After the introduction, she stayed the night in my place to go back the next morning. I woke up only to discover she was dead.
