Chapter 3
I landed onto an ancient, dusty red
carpet. I looked around and saw that I
was located in the hallway of this scary
house. The wallpaper was all ripped, the
shelves were all hanging loosely from the
walls and all the ornaments were
smashed and only just about hanging on.
The air smelt musty and old and I swear
I heard a massive bang come from
upstairs. Then again though, I was so
scared I could have been imagining it. I
looked up and there before me were the
stairs. They were tall, towering winding
stairs. They seemed like they were going
up forever. They had the same carpet as
downstairs. Then suddenly, as if out of
nowhere, I saw a white figure about my
size run past the top of the stairs, almost
skipping in a little girl sort of way.
"Oh please, help me! Do you know a way
out?" I called desperately hauling myself
off the floor. I ran up the dusty stairs
two at a time in my desperation.
Somehow, I had been so eager to get into
this horrible house but now I was
absolutely regretting it and I hadn't even
looked around yet! I didn't intend to
either. When I reached the top of those
scary stairs, it felt like I was on top of
the world, But before I could decide
which direction to go in, a cold roaring
wind swept from out of nowhere and
knocked me straight off my feet, landing
me in front of a smashed in wooden door
that was slightly open. Inside I could
hear a scraping sound like someone
brushing their hair with one of those
really old fashioned brushes. I could also
hear a girl’s voice humming to a tune
that I couldn't quite make out. Even so,
it made my blood run cold.
"Hello?" I called into the silent, eery
room, putting my head round the door.
I could see the back of this girl she had
long black straggly hair which she was
brushing very slowly that reached her
back but looked really greasy. Her neck
was deathly pale with what looked like a
scar at the bottom. She looked like she
was wearing a dirty, ripped white night
dress, showing about an inch of her legs
and her bare feet, they were also very
pale and her toe nails were yellow and
overgrown. I did not like the look of this
girl at all, I had never seen her around
town or on any estates and she only lived
about two streets away. But I politely
said,
"I am so sorry to disturb you, but I have
ended up in this house and as you live
here, I was wondering if you would be
so kind as to show me the way out.....
Maybe?"
She stopped with her brush in mid air; l
tilted her head to one side for a moment
and then carried on brushing her hair,
humming the same odd tune. I thought
that she was maybe deaf as well as
seemingly simple so I decided to walk up
to her. I tiptoed across the dirty, murky,
dusty carpet towards her and just as I
was about to tap her on the shoulder
very lightly she spun around facing me.
She couldn't have made a worse mistake.
Her face was also deathly pale and her
forehead had wrinkly frown lines that
looked permanent, her eyes were blank,
yellow and blood shot, they had an evil
look in them. Her nose was crooked and
her bottom lip had a scratch on it. Or
was it a scar? She had very few freckles
on her pale cheeks and I could see that if
it weren't for her paleness, greasy hair,
and evil, witchy look she could have
been quite a pretty girl. There was
something odd about her and when she
took a step towards me it made me want
to run. But I couldn't.
I tried with all my power to sprint for
it, but I just couldn't move. It was as if I
was glued to ground. It was as if this
mysterious girl had me glued to the spot
with her mind power, and unfortunately
for me, this was only the beginning of a
long, terrible, living nightmare...
