Episode 1

"Tara!" Mimi screamed. "Tara look at me, please open your eyes, don't do this to me, please don't die on me Tara." She kept screaming as she shook her. There was no one around to help her out. It was a Friday night, everyone has gone clubbing. What would she now? She was so helpless.

After lecture that evening, she has gone to Crunches to get their dinner, it was Tara's turn to cook but she didn't want to stress her because she knew she was going to her boyfriend's house to do his Laundry. She just couldn't understand why girls keep working in the home of a guy they are not married to.
Love?
Mtcheeew!!!

What kind of love is that one. She, Mirabel Ojukwu will never do that for a man unless they are married. Even in marriage sef, she won't be doing his laundry always.
She got to their house with her book in one hand and a bag full of food in the other. As she opened the door, she got the shock of her life. Her best friend and sister was lying in her own blood. She had slit her wrist.
What happened?
She was so happy this morning when she left.
She didn't know what to do, she have to safe her friend, she can't let her die. She first checked her pulse before running to the room and tore a piece if cloth which she used to tie her wrist to stop blood from flowing.

"Wait for me Tara, I'll just step outside to get help, please don't die on me." She ran out to call for help.

*****************************

She sat in the hospital bed beside her friend and wept. Tara has been the sister she never had. She is the best thing that has ever happened to her. She remembered how they met.
It was a hot Sunday afternoon, she had gone to buy some groceries. When she came out from the supermarket she saw a ladyvcrying by the road side, she went over to her to know why a big girl like her is disgracing herself in public.

"Hey!" She called. "Why are you crying?"

She was wearing a veil, she looked up at her and their eyes met; that was when she realize how beautiful she was.

"I was robbed," said the girl. "They took everything from me including the money mama gave me for my books and allowance. Am left with nothing." She cried some more.
Mimi felt sorry for her. "Oh my!" She said sitting beside her. "I'm sorry, are you new here?"

"Yes, am a student in ESUT."

"You're a fresh student?"

"Yes."

"Wow!" Exclaimed Mimi. "Am a fresh student there too. Come, let me give you a ride. And don't worry about your stolen things. God will provide."
Tara looked at her, how will God provide, is he going to come down from heaven to provide for her? She's not a Christian and don't believe in the existence. "Oh come on, he doesn't exist." She answered her.

Mimi was taken aback. "Who? God? Of course the does exist. What made you think God doesn't exist?" She was brought up in a Christian home, her mother was one of the executives in the CWO(Catholic Women Organization), while her dad was a Deacon. She on the other hand was a chorister but stopped when she got admission. Why would someone doubt the existence of God? It's like an insult to God Almighty. 'Am sure this girl must have gone through a lot for her to think this way.' she thought and sighed.

Tara on the other hand was deep in thought. If not that this girl is her helper, she would have told her to shut the hell up. Where was Good when her father was burnt along with their house, couldn't he had saved him? Where was he when they were rejected in the church even when they were active members of the church. The church refused to help the when they were homeless, they even refused to let them spend a night in the church. They were treated like lepers and God was watching! Her brother Nnamdi is there suffering from one stupid illness. This one is here telling her about God. Mtcheeeew!!!! She hissed.

They became friends after that; Tara was a very intelligent girl, she helped Mimi academically while Mimi helped her financially. She bought food and clothes for her and also helped her pay for her hostel bills. She was ready to do more for her provided she helped her out with her studies. Mirabel Ojukwu came from a very rich home; her father, a politician while her mother a medical doctor. Her mother, Mrs. Ijenwa Ojukwu wanted her daughter to take after her and study Medicine. But she refused. "But mom, I don't want to be a doctor!" She protested. "I want to be an Engineer." "My daughter, medicine runs in the family. My mother was a medical doctor." Her mother had said. "That's not enough reason to study what I don't want to study. Please daddy," she pleaded with her dad. "I support your mother 100% Mimi, you won't have your way this time around and you'll have to do very well in your study or else...." Mr. Ojukwu left the word hanging. "Or else what dad? You'll stop paying my school fees?" She shouted. "Mirabel, don't raise your voice at your father!" Her mom shouted at her. Mimi looked at them. "I wish we were given the chance to choose our parents, I would never choose you!" She glared at themabd ran out crying. What kind of parents choose career for their child? Is it not enough that her mom chose all her outfit for her? She don't even have the right to choose what she wants to wear, what she eats, the kind if friends she keeps. Her mother practically makes decisions for her. At her age, she doesn't know how to cook or how to do the lundary. She remembered the day she begged their help Ekaette to teach her how to cook. They were on it when her mom came back. "What are you doing in the kitchen Mirabel!" Her mother shouted. "I'm learning how to cook mom." She had said excitedly thinking that her mom would be happy to hear that but to her greatest surprise, her mom flared up. "Ekaette, haven't I warned you never to allow my daughter in the kitchen??" Ekaette was shaking. "Madam...." She started but Mimi interrupted her. "Calm down mom," I had said. "I forced her." "You are fired!" She said to Ekaette ignoring her daughter. "What?" She was shocked as Ekaette knelt down begging and crying. "That's not fair mom!!!" "Mirabel! To your room. Now!" She ordered. She turned to the maid. "Pack your things and get out of my house." She felt bad after that day. That was why she decided to study Medicine and to work hard to avoid more problems; but it was such a difficult task for her; thank God for bringing Tara into their life, she will do everything to keep their friendship. Tara was not only her teacher but also her Savior. She donated blood to her when she had accident last year and lost many blood. Her blood type was rare, Tara was the only one who had her blood type and wasted no time donating. Her mother couldn't donate because she has ulcer. She will forever be indebted to her friend. Now, here she is; in a hospital fighting for her life and she couldn't do anything to help her. She has been through a lot; betrayer, loss, heartbreak and lots more. She hoped it hasn't happened again, she hoped she has not be cheated on by her current boyfriend Ayo. That's why she, Mirabel had decided not to give her heart to any man, she will be the one to used and dump men not the other way round. The doctor had told her she would be fine. Of course, she would be fine physically but emotionally, she'll suffer. This is the third time she has been heartbroken, the third time she has been cheated on, used and dumped like a piece of rag. First it was Emeka, then Zuby, now, it's Ayo. What has she done to deserve this! She's even more beautiful than those girls they cheated on her with. She was deep in thought when her phone rang. It was her mum. "Hello mum!" "I was expecting your call, why haven't you called like you promised?" "Am sorry mum, there was an emergency. I forgot all about it." "What emergency?" Asked her mother panicking. "Is Tara, she's in the hospital" "Why?" "Am sure those idiots have done it again mum. Ayo must have cheated on her. She tried to commit sucide." She said crying. "Oh dear! I feel for that girl. Please take care of her. She's suffering from emotional trauma, and don't worry about the bills, just give me the name of the hospital, I will settle the bill." "Thanks mum." "Is her parents aware?" "No, I don't know if she would want me to inform them. We will discuss that when she wakes up." "Okay, take care, okay?" "Yes mom." She said and disconnected the call. She looked at her friend. "Why do you have yo do this to yourself Tara? Is Ayo worth dying for?" "Ayo!" Tara called. Mimi got up immediately. "Tara! Tara! Can you hear me?" "Where is Ayo? I want to see him." "Just a minute, let me call the doctor." She said and ran out.
