TITLE: F.L.A.M.E.S

CHAPTER 17
:
Joey, spending a night not only in Ella's house but
in her room, on the same bed wasn't something
both would worry about at their age because they
were besties. The light of the room was totally off,
therefore, there was nothing visible except a green
light from an air conditioner.
Joey occasionally crossed his leg on Ella's but
when she noticed the last one, she jumped up and
put on the light immediately.
Joey jerked up. "What's it Ella?"
"What were you trying to do?" she queried too
glaring into his eyes.
"I don't get you"
"I felt your leg in between.. I mean across mine"
"And what are you insinuating? That I tried to take
advantage of you?" Joey asked but Ella remained
quiet as both stared into each other eyes. Ella felt
guilty of saying what she said while Joey felt
embarrassed even though he was beginning to
develop feelings for her.
"Ella," he began with a low voice. "what happened
is just a mistake. It was done unconsciously and I
mean no harm. Anyways, I'm sorry" he gently went
down from the bed pulling a blanket with him, laid
on the floor and covered himself.
Ella didn't know what to say anymore, so she also
laid on the big bed alone, covered herself and put
off the light. She couldn't help it but to feel guilty
of accusing him wrongly. So she said in the dark
quiet room, "I'm sorry, Joey"
He didn't reply rather changed a sleeping position.

THE NEXT DAY
As Jake prepared for school, so as Dave did.
On the other hand, at the residence of Ella, she had
woken up before Joey to prepare breakfast. When
Joey woke up, he didn't see Ella rather saw a
paper on her bed. He picked it up and read thus:
GOOD MORNING, BESTIE. TAKE A SHOWER, DRESS
UP AND COME DOWNSTAIRS. Joey smiled and did
as she said.
A few minutes later, he came downstairs and saw
her at the dinning table serving fried egg, bread
and tea then joined her.
"Good morning, Joey"
"Good morning, Ella"
Both sat down.
"Breakfast is ready"
"Thanks" Joey began to eat with her silently. Ella
still wanted to apologize about the previous night
event but didn't know how to start. As she
wallowed in that thought, Joey broke the silence
saying, "Why did you drop a note for me?"
Ella smiled, "We are use to it" she replied.
"We?"
"Yes, I mean my mum and I"
"Interesting" Joey returned the smile as the
tranquillity returned back to it's state again.
Just then, Ella stopped eating. "Joey, I'm really
sorry about last night" she finally said waiting for
a response.
"It's nothing in as much as you remain my bestie"
Joey replied.
"Of course we are" Ella resumed eating happily.
"But I wonna ask you something"
"What?" she became curious then suspended her
food again likewise Joey.
"I know you aren't gonna lie to me, are you?" he
stressed.
"No" Ella shook her head negatively wondering
what could be his question.
Joey looked into her eyes and asked, "Did you kiss
Dave at the Fun Hall yesterday?"
Ella suddenly became dumb. How would she tell
him the truth? She knew she wouldn't, so she said,
"No we didn't kiss"
"Okay" Joey resumed eating again.
"Excuse me" Ella dressed up in a short while, ran
downstairs, picked a paper, wrote a note for her
mum and dropped it on the centre table. "Let's go"
she said glancing at Joey who smiled at her
character. "Why are you smiling?" she caught him.
"It's actually romantic to leave a note for someone"
Joey replied as both were heading outside.
"Silly boy" Ella smiled and threw a car key to him.
"You drive"
He caught the key, entered and drove off instantly.

At school, Dave was the first person to meet Joey
and Ella immediately they stepped down from the
car. They weren't looking happy at all and he knew
the reason. Therefore without waisting time, he
began to explain. "Listen guys, I know you're upset
because I couldn't make it to the sleep over night
we planned. The heavy rain caused it and,
moreover, I couldn't get a taxi coz I never wanted
to come with a car which.."
"Hey," Ella interrupted him waving her hand across
his face. "Always giving excuses" she walked out
while Dave shook hands with Joey.
"So how did it go?"
"Fine, but there was no movies. We just ate and
slept"
"You slept with her?"
"What do you mean?" Joey glared at him. "I slept in
her house" he clarified then both walked out
hanging their bags behind them.
Just as Ella walked on a long passage, she sighted
Jake also coming from the opposite side. Seeing
him, she remembered Joella's Inquisition which
Jake had not created an opportunity for the
answer. Her heart began to beat faster.
On the other hand, Jake tried as a much as
possible not to be carried away with her beauty
and attractive steps until both met each other....
