Let's discuss the gender equality bill.
No fights, no insults.
Do we really need to pass a law in Nigeria to make women equal to men?
Do you think an average Nigerian woman is ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with men?
Let's talk

As a very traditional African man, I don't support such bill. Women are already gaining from many policies ranging from job preferences, social rights, Ministry of women affairs etc. What again do they need ??, For me I think they are already more favoured in the society unless they now want men to be their houseboys, the way they have turned the whites

Men and women may not be equal physically. They may not be capable of doing all the things the other gender can. A woman cannot generally do as much physical labour as a man (generally). Neither can a man take care of a baby as a woman can. Each gender has a function of its own, some jobs which each can perform better than the other. The point is that the term gender equality is the licence to expect the same level of humanity from both, and to expect equal respect for both genders and respect for doing their own duties in society.

one thing to know is that if women can be equal to man there will be no respect again from the wife to her husband and it may lead to crisis in the family and the children too will suffer it.

I Think They Are Almost In The Same Level With Men..But I Think Male Should Have More Than The Female, but It Would Be With Proportion, maybe On A Ration Of 60 To 40 The Reason Is Not Far-fetched,its Because Women Tend To Be Extremely Domineering When It Comes To Issues And Sometimes Sentimental.Men Can Be Detailed Even Though Women Are Sometimes Too.So To Cap It All,the Man Is Suppose To Be A Step Ahead Of The Woman.

This thing called gender equality is just an illusion.........no matter what happens men are always past women God made it so from the beginning so no matter how unfair we think it is....we can't do nothing about it

Me as a person i dnt believe in gender =lity, once dat happens den there is going to be a big problem. Cum to look at it even without it d rate of divorce is getting high day-by-day so wen such is now been approved den women will not see any need why dey should get married once dey r able to give birth to 2 children den dey think dey will be fine or doing more better on their own than staying under d roof of a man dat will be controlling dem. I rest my case

I didn't see it making sense for men and women to be equal.

I believe we need to undastand d concept of gender equality first. I strongly agree with Uche Jombo's explanation of what gender equality is, but if what the bill will be enforcing is Queen of Ooni's concept of it, den its a total waste of tym.

The moment they make such law, things will started getting ofhand. reason be that there are some ladies/women in Nigeria that wish for nothing else than to be the commanding men with a tap fingers. how easy with it be for them if such law get made?, even the law has not been made, we are seeing a wife that stand as a head for her husband(though with terrestial power). To me I believe there are good women that won't misuse the chance but for those that would take it as an opportunity to unleash their anger on men on the name of 'revenge'. It won't be good if such law is made.
