HARD SHELL

Aderonke is seen in the bush cutting fire wood, the strength with which she cuts it is quite unusual for a girl, this is her daily rutine. Aderonke lived in Oyo town durring the old westerns region, durring those times when we used to have premire as the head of each region in Nigeria. She is an orphan, and non of her relatives is ready to help her. The building in wich she lives is the only thing she inherit from her parents, other properties like money and farm lands has been taken over by her uncle, even the house might have even been lost to her uncle if not for the intervention of their compound chief. she live from hand to mouth, not going to farm means no food on her table. She work as a labourer when there is an opportunity. On one unusual day, Aderoke has no work to do, which means no food to eat. Mama Taiwo the food seller who use to buy her firewood has traveled to her village for her grandmother burier. Aderonke decided to leave house to search for what to eat, she decided to go to Oke's farm.

Episode 2: Oke is a teacher who work in a school very close to Aderonke's house, he is a standard six holder, there was no nursery and primary then they use standard so if you have standard six then, you can work as a teacher, and mind you, standard six then is better than today's secodary schools. Oke is a hardworking and serious minded young man, he also has a very big farm in which he works every evening and weekends. Oke had once saw Aderonke trying to cut a very hard wood, the wood was giving her hard time but she was determined not to leave the wood, unknown to her, Oke had been watching her all the while, he just grab the hand she is using for cutting from behind, she was terrified at first, but when he told her to let him continue with the cutting, her mind was calm. Oke helped her in cutting the wood and told her to alway come to his farm to take any anything she want, but Aderonke will never take anything other than firewood whenever she visit Oke's farm, she prefer working to beging for food.

Aderonke seems to be the only one on the road to Oke's farm, the road is getting darker and darker, cold air is coming from all direction, all the trees are dancing to the tune of the wind and the only sounds that can be heared are the melodious music coming from the birds. Aderonke is now in dilema because the journey to the farm is 1hour 45min or more, she has spent more than hour on the road. Suddenling a faint light apear from the direction of farm, the light seem to be aproaching and it getting brighter, oh! it is Oke's bike she said now that she can hear it's sound. Oke stop when he reach her side and ask why she decided to go farm when it is obvious that it is going to rain heavily, the wheather capricious she said. Oke and Aderonke go to Aderonke's house together, when they reach Aderoke's house Oke droped his bag and bring out some roasted yams and roasted corns, Oke tell her to take some corn and roasted yam, she hesitate at first but when he press on she accept, They eat and talk together.

And this girl is beautiful o, Oke said in his mind as he take careful note of Aderonke's anatomy. And sincerely speaking Aronke is a beauty to behold, every thing about Aderonke's anatomy is just atractive, she has this beautiful diastema that any man will readily go for, her body size is moderate and her beautiful face caps it all. Oke has always wanted to tell Aderonke about his feelings for her, but something always prevent him, he doesn't want her to think he want to take advantage of her, any time he has the opportunity is always after he had helped her. I will wait for an appropriate time, he said withing himself. 'Aderonke, can you stop going to farm? Oke asked has brake the silence in the room. 'I will die of starvation if I try it' Aderonke replied, ' leave that for me, I'll take care of it', 'how?', 'I'll be living money for you everyday so that you will be cooking for us, and the remaining money will yours', 'but I'm not your wife', 'did I say you are my wife? or are we living together?',

ok I've heard you', 'good, that mean I will have to leave 20 kobo for you, I think that will be ok for today and tomorow', 'sure'. Oke dips hand into his pocket and give two 10 kobo coins to Aderonke. It is raining heavily all the while, and this rain keeps Oke at Aderonke's house for not less than 2 hours before he was able to leave for his house. Day after day, the bond between Oke and Aderonke continue to grow stronger and stronger, the duo become the gossip topic in the community, some will say: Aderonke is a prostitute, she is using what she have to get what she want from Oke, some others will even add that they've caught them sleeping with themself, so as to make the story sweet. There was one chief Agoro who use to disturb Aderonke to marry him, now the rumour about Oke and Aderonke has now come to his hearing, and this infuriate him alot, as a reasult, he sent warning message to Oke, in which he asked Oke to brake any relationship he has with Aderonke.
