Chapter 3:
We were all frozen in place. And I do mean
frozen, like, not even blinking. This was a
haunted house, were they really aloud to drag
you away like that? Was that even legal? I
sure didn't think so.
We rounded the corner, expecting to see
Brianna sitting there, but she, and the clown
were gone. How was that possible? We were
like two seconds behind them. Jacob let out a
little whimper. I would have laughed, but
considering the circumstances I didn't feel it
was the right time.
"Jake, it's okay, I mean this is all fake they
couldn't have gone far," Lily said, rubbing his
back. Jacob leaned against the dirty wall, and
slide down to the floor.
"Maybe one of us should go with him to look,"
Nick stated, looking down at Jacob with
concern. I shook my head rapidly.
"No, we can't split up," I said, chewing my
bottom lip a little. Nick looked back up at me.
"We have too."
"No."
"Emily."
"NO." I said a little harshly, "Nick we can't, I
don't know what is going on, but I know they
can't do that, so something is wrong. We
can't split up now."
Hayley kicked the floor a little, looking very
uncomfortable. Nick just nodded weakly. I
was suddenly very tired, I just wanted to find
Brianna and get out of this creepy house.
"Let's go find her," Jacob mumbled, taking a
couple steps forward. We reluctantly followed,
staying silent the whole way. I felt a hand
touch my shoulder, and placed my hand on
top of it. I had assumed it was Tristen, but
when I looked to my left, there he was, hands
in pocket.
A small lump formed in my throat, and I
stopped walking. Slowly, I turned my head to
see what was touching me. There, stood a
man with beautiful brown eyes, and gorgeous
brown hair. His pale skin seemed to glow in
the almost blackness, and his sinister smile
was heart stopping.
"Helloooo," he said, stretching out the word. I
swallowed the lump, and blinked a couple
times before I screamed. The man laughed,
lifting his hand from my shoulder and
grabbing my wrist gently.
I screamed again, and this time I heard
voices. My friends had actually gotten far
while I was standing there, but they arrived
in no time.
"Emily?" Lily asked, eyes full of concern. Her
eyes widened in fear when she realized what
the problem was.
"Who are you?" Hayley asked shakily. The
man smiled again, then he tipped his black
top hat. The white silk gloves he was wearing
added to his whole look. He had on a white
dress shirt, a black vest, black bow tie and
black pants. A red jacket finished the look,
and it was obvious what he was.
A ring leader.
He let go of my wrist, and ran his pale fingers
through my hair. I froze again, and I saw
everybody stiffen.
"Ryan," he said smoothly. Tristen cleared his
throat and glared at Ryan angrily. Ryan just
smirked and continued to pet me like a dog.
"What are you doing?" Nick asked, scratching
his head. Ryan's smirk widened, and
he pulled me close to him. What the Hell?
Why was he acting like my fricken boyfriend?
"Well, Mr. Boulders, I'm pretending," Ryan
said, letting me go and pulled out a long stick.
Nick stiffened, and I realized why. Did we
even say his name in front of Ryan? Even if
we did we wouldn't have said his last name.
"How do you know my name?" Nick asked,
pointing an accusing finger at Ryan. He
laughed, pushing Nick's shaking finger away
from his face.
"I know all your names, Nick Boulders, Lily
Parch, Tristen Smith , Jacob Marley, Hayley
Lowen, Jeff Edwards, Emily Valentine and
Brianna Williams," he said, sending a wink
my way. I stiffened again, and let out a little
squeak.
"How?" Jeff asked slowly, pushing up his cute
glasses.
"That doesn't really matter does it?" Ryan said
chuckling slightly. He turned on his heel, and
walked away, red jacket flowing behind him.
I was tempted to go around the corner and
look for him, but I had a feeling he was gone.
"Let's just keep going," Jacob said, opening
one of the doors in the hall. It was dark
inside, and Jeff reached inside to look for the
light switch. The flouresent light flickered on,
and I realized it looked just like the one scene
from Saw.
The wall were white, and so was the floor.
The light continued to flicker, and there was
a vile, decomposing body smell. Because thats
what was in there.
Jeff froze, staring at the bloody mess inside
the room. There were chains, some still
holding people to the wall. Some just had
hands. Blood was scattered across the walls,
though it was dry, and there were
disconnected body parts, mostly arms.
In the corner, on the counter were jars and
jars of what I believed were eyeballs. Lily
started to gag, and ran back into the hall to
puke. I was suprised Jeff was as calm as he
was, being as he usually had a really weak
stomach.
"What... is... that?" Hayley choked out,
pluging her nose and pointing to something to
the left. My eyes searched until I found what
she was talking about. It was a body, a girl I
think. Most of her hair was pulled out, her
eyes were missing and her mouth was
dripping with fresh, deep red blood. The girl's
face had scratches all over.
This time, Jeff did throw up, right in the
middle of the floor. So did Hayley, Nick and
Me. I almost did twice looking at what just
came up from my stomach, so I quickly ran
out.
Everybody else followed, and Jacob slammed
the door shut, turning to look at us.
"You don't think that was Brianna do you?"
he asked, shivering slightly. Tears welled up
at the corners of my eyes. I haven't even
thought of that, but what if it was?
"I don't think so," Tristen whispered, running
a hand through his hair. Everybody turned to
look at him, but say anything else. We were
all okay with that being the final answer.
Nick walked over to another door, and slowly
opened it. He peeked inside, before closing it
and shaking his head. We walked down the
narrow hall, looking into doors, before each
one was slammed closed.
We can across the last door in the hallway,
and all entered the small room. I was
instantly hit with the smell of flowers.
It was a small room, with pink floral
wallpaper, and white carpet. The little pink
bed had a flowing white net above it, and the
curtains had small roses and lily's on them.
There, in the middle of the floor was a little
white table with fake tea and cookies on it. A
small teddy bear with a light blue bow tie sat
on one side, a bunny with a pink dress on
another, and on the last side was a girl, with
brown hair and a frilly white dress.
Her back was too us, and she wasn't moving.
Lily cleared her throat, yet the little girl
didn't move. Actually, she wasn't that little,
she just looked like it because she was
wearing a dress and sat at a small table.
There was also a creepy, childish music
playing in the back ground. It reminded me
of scary movies with possessed kids, and
shivered at the thought.
"Little girl?" Nick said, taking a small and
slow step toward her.
