The immediate past Senator representing Kogi East Senatorial District, Isaac Mohammed Alfa, has explained that his short stay in the Nigerian Senate was the resolve of the people’s mandate that voted him in 2015.

Speaking with DAILY POST in Abuja, the former lawmaker noted that the electorate were satisfied despite the fact that he recovered his mandate shortly before end of the 8th Senate.

He said the development has successfully dismantled “politics of godfatherism” in Kogi State.

Ahead of governorship election slated for November in Kogi State, the former Chief of Air Staff cautioned youth against violence, saying violence was as bad as politics of godfatherism he worked against in the state.

He asked youths in Kogi State to eschew all forms of violence ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in November, saying that thuggery and other vices would undermine the electoral process.

“I thank the people of my constituency in Kogi East and the entire people of the State for giving me the mandate to serve them.

“Even though my stay in the Senate was short-lived; the resolve of the people to defend their mandate raises my hope that working together the forces of political godfathers and imposition in the state can be effectively dismantled.”

Although, it is not clear whether or not Alfa will throw his hat into the ring and contest the governorship position; political observers in the state believe the odds are hugely in favour of the retired Air Marshall to clinch the title against a less fancied incumbent.
