How to Ensure the Second Date ―When two strangers meet and the first embers of attraction are ignited, it opens up a brand new world of possibilities. After the hanging out a bit, exchanging contact details and all, it often takes a proper first date to determine the future of the relationship. So, the physical attraction is there, maybe you guys share the same circle of friends or some other interest, how exactly do you ensure this spark is fanned to a bright flame. Let’s have a run through of some first date essentials that would ensure you get a second date.

How to Get A Second Date

Dress appropriately

This can absolutely not be over-emphasized or over-stated. Whether it’s a formal affair, a walk in the park or a visit to a shooting range, your dressing must not be sloppy. The occasion would automatically dictate the form of clothes to be worn, and the personality of the people involved also goes a long way in doing this.

The clothes must be appropriate for whatever activity your date is built on, clean and neat clothes are necessary. If you are loving the person already and want to get a second date, you wouldn’t want to look dirty and dishevelled, for it is going to be an indication that you don’t take the person serious and, most importantly, you do not respect yourself enough to make an effort to earn the other’s respect. Clean clothes, well pressed or at least stretched, and well cared for hair are quite important. Think primary school Monday morning inspections.

Smell good

There are some major beliefs about attractions determined solely by an individual’s smell. Investing in (or borrowing) a good cologne, body spray or deodorant does not necessarily have to be bank breaking. But it does tell a whole lot of negatives about you, showing up for a date and stinking to high heavens.

We, humans, are naturally designed to enjoy certain smells and aromas, both collectively and individually. While your date might enjoy the aroma of the lovely food being served as well as you, the overpowering smell of some cheap roadside perfume might choke them to an asthma attack. Be tasteful when picking body scents, even if you don’t have any perfumes or sprays, make sure you take a good shower, so you smell fresh and clean. A little tip though — most girls love chocolate, and some statistics claim males like vanilla.

Get creative

Because you guys are just getting to know each other, the first date can get boring and awkward pretty fast. If you want the date to be interesting and make you get a second date, why not plan ahead and line up a bevy of fun activities that would keep you guys engaged all through the period. It doesn’t have to be money consuming activities like a movie plus lunch at the mall, it could be getting recent blockbusters on your laptop(or other devices), getting loads of popcorn and soda and watching them in an out of the way park. For people with instant chemistry, talking will come effortlessly if you can easily identify your joint interests and keep the conversation away from dissenting or touchy topics

Put away that phone

It’s no news that about half of 21st century humanity spend some fifty percent of their valuable time on their mobiles. While your phone might have been instrumental in planning the first date, you might need to put it away to ensure it’s successful and that you a chance to get a second date. Unless it’s an emergency, or you are sharing the contents of the device with your date, a device needs to be totally out of focus during a date. Most failed dates are symbolized by two people engrossed in their mobiles. It’s time to talk and get to know each other, do not waste it on tweeting about the date, and experience it in real time.

Take things steady

Romance novels and some movies glory in the sweetness of love at first sight, and being swept away by emotions on the first date. Life is usually much more realistic and slower, sorry. Even if the sparks are flying all over the place and setting the surrounding ablaze for miles on end, first date is still not the time to pick wedding colors and baby names.

Enjoy the process of getting to know each other and don’t rush headlong into commitments and oaths. Excessive touching and purposeful physical contact could also be alarming and extremely distasteful. You don’t want to end your date with a mob or police escort booking you for harassment. Keep all physical contact natural and subtle. Do not overpower your date by crowding them and getting into their space. Light and unconscious touches will portray your interest well enough.

Be you

Above all, in every situation and for every minute of every day, be yourself and do you. Acting like the person you think your date wants you to be is getting you nowhere fast. You either end up living a lie, or your date is put out by the fake you. So, no matter what don’t let the real you ever be hidden. And if the relationship doesn’t work, it was just a first date, there probably would be many more. You just might end up with a good friend in the meantime. And who knows what the future holds.
