A short story by Adebayo Abass Charliebryn

I woke up today feeling off,my whole body seems cold, colder than a corpse embalmed in the mortuary but I didn't see it as anything,I took it as one of my conditions cos most people always complain of my body temperature for its coldness.

Its just like all other days, normal with nothing to be afraid of,nothing to complain about than me waking up late for lectures, but today is a bit different because there was no lecture and I planned to go visit my parents at home,I checked the time "7:03am" I muttered, that's too early for a lazy sleeper like me.

I got ready at exactly 7:45am and headed out, locking my door like There's something not to be stolen inside but in reality, there's nothing,I headed to the park where I'll board a bus.Everything suddenly look weird and slow, like the earth was put in a slow motion, but at thesame time nothing felt out of place.

25minutes later,we were on the road, the ride was smooth and steady, the driver sure knows how to handle his steering and make his passengers feel at ease without the fear of any impending danger.I'm not the conversing type so I opted for music on my phone,I was about putting my earpiece on when it suddenly opened, like a door.

The small boy I intentionally gave a knock, the small girl I beat just because her brother beats me,the crying girl I bought chocolate for to stop her from crying, the old woman I help carry firewood....it just kept coming like a film you fast forward,it all happened within seconds and before I know it,I was standing beside me.

I saw people coming down to have a pee, some remained in the bus just like me,I caress my cheek softly,I looked so peaceful having my head against the chair with my eyes closed,my precious earpiece hanging on my ears and my song "how many minutes(tributes to all)" playing on it slowly,It felt like a heavy burden has been lifted off my shoulder,I caress my cheek one more time then I turned back.

I turned back to see a large market before me,many people coming to bye things from every angle, both good and bad goods, some even came without buying anything, they just come, look around for a while and go.I sighed and looked down to see some bags of goods beside me,some goods are already rotten while most of it are still in good state.
"its time to go home." I heard someone say behind me,I looked over my shoulder to find a handsome man, wearing complete white with white hairs,I sighed again.

"Am I ready to go?" I asked him without turning to face him,I heard him sigh

"the time you put on the record is out,its time to go home." he said as he moved closer to me and carry my goods.."your master is waiting, its time to go home." he said as I turn and followed him slowly..

He noticed my sober mood and said to me in my mother's tongue.."aye loja, orun Nile" meaning "life is a market, heaven is our home."
All I could do was nod and follow his steps, wondering what I'll meet at home.

THE END

Mehn, can't believe I finally put my pen down,I was feeling somehow as I was writing this, strange right?,it looks short but it passes a greater message than it looks, only if you allow your inner mind to access it can you make a sense off it..

Thanks for everything guys,I appreciate you all..Coolval22 for life..
