MUSIC FEELING

I rubbed my sweaty palms together due to nervousness,I took a deep breathe,my mouth forming an O shape as I exhale gently to calm myself,I looked at the cue to recount,am the 5th on the line and probably the last,my heart was thumping hard against my chest like its gonna break down the wall and fall out,
"calm down boy." the guy standing infront of me said,I just looked at him unable to say anything,"it seems this is your first time."
"yes" I managed to say,he smiled and patted me gently on my shoulder before turning front again.I could hear the voice of the person singing and she has such a wonderful voice that I almost turn back,'is my voice good? Will they like anything I sing?' I kept asking myself this questions.
In a bid to distract myself,I tried to reflect on what lead me there,what makes me go to the music contest.It all started 9months back.
"wow! You've got a great voice." Talat said jumping on my laps and I have no choice but to rest back on the sofa,she crossed her hands around my neck and stared at my eyes,her brown eyes piercing mine,connecting into the deepest part of my soul.
"uh,I don't think so,I think I have the most horrible voice ever." I said looking away from her..
"well,I guess you're right." she said feigning anger and turned her face aside..
"Talat,look at me." I turned her face towards mine and gave her a kiss,"you know I don't mean that,I'm everything you say I am and I have everything you say I have." I couldn't help but smile at my words,'she always act childish.' I thought.
"thanks sweetheart,hmmm,how about you go for a music contest,I bet they're gonna love you,and with that wonderful voice of yours,they wouldn't be able to stop themselves from giving you a standing ovation." Talat said with a dreamy look,probably imagining how it'll be on that day..
"uhm darling,I don't think that's such a good idea." I complained..
"why if I may ask?"
"I only love to sing for you only,when I sing for you I feel comfortable but me,standing infront of about 100 people with a light directly above me while they watch?" I said shaking my head,"common,I wouldn't be able to utter a word due to fear."
"I understand you perfectly but please give it a try,you can sing a popular song,just blend it to your style." she said with a puppy look on her face..
"my style? Am not even a musician."
"you're not,but you've got your own style sweetheart,just give it a try."
"ook,I will think about it."
"baby," she stared into my eyes and continue,"you love music and music loves you,do it for me."
That was all I could remember before I suddenly heard a voice beside me,"you're going up next." A beautiful lady said,she's the one ushering us in one by one.
"ok,thanks." I appreciated and she smiled lovingly,I rubbed my palms together again(something I always do whenever am nervous),I felt sad immediately because the person who urged me to try the contest broke up with me 3months earlier.
"girl ah know uh oh that I let you down,is it to late to say sorry now." I heard the guy infront of me concluded sing and the place went silent,he sang Justin Beiber's SORRY,'the judges are probably passing their judgment' I thought silently..

After about 10minutes,the guy walked out smiling,he came to me and gave me a brief hug,"you can do this." he whispered into my ears.I entered the stage and shielded my face with my arms,this makes Everyone laugh,I felt embarrassed,
"I think you're new to this." A woman among the judges said,she's a popular musician but I've forgotten her name.
"yes,I guess." I said and she frowned..
"so,what song do you have for us,foreign or local?" she asked..
"my song." I replied and the audience burst into laughter,they probably haven't seen a naïve and foolish guy like me before.
"uh ok,I hope you impress us with this,'your song'" she said sarcastically..
I immediately became unsure of myself,I stared at the audience and became afraid,I scanned every one of them and my eyes fell on her,the reason I'm standing there infront of those people,and everything seems to disappear,leaving only me and Talat as I stare into her eyes.

I haven't finish singing when I heard the sound of applaud,it was so ear deafening that I didn't even hear my own voice again,I became aware of my environment and saw everybody standing,even the judges,everybody shouting,with tears on almost everybody's eyes,it was awesome,I felt alive.I looked at where she sat and she's got this 'I told you' look on her face..
The judges commented,and they all were impressed,not by the lyrics only,but also by my voice,the voice I thought was awful.After everything,I was set to go,I hugged the guy(who was infront of me) and collected his number before we went out separate ways but not after telling "you finally did it", I was about to stop a taxi when my phone vibrated,with a message which reads
"THIS FEELING IN MY HEART FOR YOU BABY BOY I AM SURE" A big smile spread accross my face.
