He throws the files on the faces of his two employees who were standing opposite him, fear written all over them, which he care less to notice, no one can tell what he is capable of doing once he is angry even him don’t know this about himself too, but right now he won’t care less if he didn’t get am answer. “did you read this properly before bringing it to me” he asked no one in particular “AM I NOT TALKING TO SOMEONE “ he shouted hitting his hand on his office desk, “Mr Donald, we did and we crossed check it many times” Mr Paul his finances manager spoke out, “oh really, then why did you bring it to me knowing fully well it full of rubbish, Mr Paul you have been working here for almost 15years now and you know this better then anyone, now tell me how come that sum of money will be missing in the company account and you are just finding out now, answer me” he was getting inpatient with their silent, no one has dare stolen from him before, they know how he is with his money, he prays he catches that man or woman who dears to provoke him, only God knows what will be the fate of that person. “sir, we have crossed check everything properly, but there is no record of missing money" Mr Samuel, the manager spoke this time, “so are you saying the money disappeared" “no sir actually it was loan out" “loan out?" he asked in disbelief, even if both were much older than his as Mr Paul will be on his late 40s also with Mr Samuel he doesn’t care less when he comes to his affairs, with what they told him it was confusing, he didn’t remember loaning out money to any one, his approval is always needed before a loan can be given out mostly huge amount of money, he rested his back comfortably on his office chair, entangling his fingers together. “this is getting interesting" he said more in a mocking sound, “continues please" “well sir you see, when we found out that money was loaned out we began to check all the records then we found this” Mr Paul brought out a file and gave it to him, he collected it and went through it sitting up, Mr Paul and Mr Samuel glimpse at each other from the corner of their eyes, as they wait patiently for their boss Mr Ethan Donald to go through the files, both of them has been working for this company for a long time also with most of the workers, and have put all their time in making sure that this company grows but yet he (Ethan) can never get satisfied with their hard work, he can get you fired with a little mistake, since the pay is good they don’t mind working for the devil himself. CloudWorld technology is one of the biggest and richest technology company all over the world, with breached all over the world with the headquarter in China, they are producer of all kinds of technology but can only be afforded by the wealthy, Abuja branch is one of the biggest branches in Nigeria, and that is where Ethan love to spend his time if he is not traveling round the world. “ WHAT” Ethan voice rang all through his office, he just can’t believe what he is reading right now, “when did this happen and why wasn’t I informed“ he asked in fury, “sir this happened before you took over your grandfather’s company and mange it with yours, if you see it was written there that this took place 10 years ago” Mr Paul tried to explain, “of course I can see that, am not blind, tell me something that is not written here” Ethan said in anger, Mr Paul wanted to roll his eyes but he dare not “sir the only thing we know are all written there, there was only one eye witness and that is your father, so we will suggest you ask him before we can do anything.” Mr Samuel added. “get out, I will call you when I need you” he wave them away with his left hand with his right hand still holding the book, “ yes sir” they ( Mr Samuel and Mr Paul) both responded before heading to the door, as soon as they exit his office they did the sign of the cross before heading to their offices. Ethan didn’t bother to look up as his eyes were still gum to the file in his hand, he still can’t believe he wasn’t aware of this, he has started his company at the age of 19 while he was still in school, he learnt everything from his grandfather who was a genuine in business, at the age of 22 his grandfather passed away leaving his company to him, so since he couldn’t run two companies at once he decided to mange both companies together and since then he has been expanding making himself number six of the youngest billionaire in the world, his dream is to be the best that is why he put all his time and effort in the success of his companies and don’t tolerate failure and incompetent employees but with this new development he doubt if he knows anything that goes round his company. “ Rockage Cooperation, who are you that my grandfather will loan you such amount of money without thinking twice” he has heard the name but show no interest since both don’t specialize in since business goal, but since it involves his money, yes his money then he must find out everything about this company that took a loan without paying back for the past 10 years and he was going to start with his father since he was the only witness when the agreement was made, “ dad, here I come”. Continues.. . “ yes, of course, I will be in London tomorrow, you don’t have to worry, see you at the meeting then”, Ethan took the phone away from his ear, the driver has been driving for the pass 10 minutes heading to Ethan father’s house, sitting on the passenger sit is Rachael, Ethan personal assistant (PA), Rachael is a 25years old young man who has been working for Ethan for two years now, he is diligent in his work and he tolerate things that Ethan throws at him, Ethan sometimes wonders how Rachael is able to keep up with him this long, all his personal assistants that were before him hardly spend 8 months with him, either he fire them or they quit but for Rachael it’s different, maybe one day he too will grow tired of him, they all do. Ethan can’t seen to remember when last he stepped his foot on his father's house, after the death of his mother when he was six years old the relationship between him and his father died also, he hate remembering the event that made it that way and that same event has made him like this and he has learnt to live this way, he was 12 years old when he was taken to live with his father’s parents Mr and Mrs Donald, his father’s father Mr Donald has taught him everything about business and everything about life, he so wish many times that his own father was the one that got his back like that but all is in the past now. He thought to himself. This made him to smirk “father I don’t need your money, I am so riches than you, I wonder why you can’t see it, I want Mr William to pay back the loan in full and he will” with this said he turn to leave. “ Ethan “ his father voice stop him “ son, I know what you want to do but please don’t “ Mr Jonathan pleased, in as much Ethan refused to turn to his father “ I will bring Rockage to the ground if Mr William refuses to pay me my money" with this said he left. Vivian released the breathe she didn’t know she was holding, she looked at her husband who was still staring at the back of Ethan as he walk out of the sitting room, she knows Ethan was not bluffing but what to do now was what she don’t know. “ send a Email to Rockage cooperation, I want a meeting with Mr William once I come back from London", Ethan told Rachael as soon as they start driving out of the compound, “ yes sir” Rachael answered as he start to write on his notepad, Ethan gave his father house a last gales, never knows when he will see it again. ***************************** ROCKAGE CO-OPERATION A black SUV drove in the building of Rockage cooperation as it is boldly written at the top of the five storey building, Mr William is seen coming out of the SUV having a conversation on the phone, he looks younger with his blue suit, Mr Williams is in his late 60s but look much younger than that but his gray hair always gives him away, his personal assistant Mr Edward who is just on his late 30s came out of the building to help Mr William with his suitcase as that has been his routine for the pass five years he has been working for Mr William, they both passed the other workers with Mr William responding to greetings coming from his workers, Mr William is what you call a wonderful boss, he was loved by all his workers as he take their wellbeing seriously, to him money doesn’t come first. . So you will not be confused. . Continues part. . As soon as he enter his office which was on the third floor of the company building he ended his call, taking his seat he placed the phone on the office desk while Mr Edward helps in arranging the file in the suitcase on the office desk. “ any news from our investors in China” he asked picking one of the file. “ yes sir, I have scheduled a meeting one week from now, they will be flying down to Nigeria next week” he answered with a smile, “oh that’s good you have done a great job", this even made his smile grow wider, he always work hard to be appreciated by his boss Mr William, he opened a small file he has been holding since the arrival of Mr William and brought out a piece of paper. “sir an Email came in yesterday from Cloudworld technology worldwide“, he said heading the file to Mr Williams who took it with a surprise look. Mr William was silent, not knowing the next word to use, “ so” Ethan continue “ I will love to asked why you haven’t respected that agreement, I was told that you promised to pay monthly but there have been no record of that, so I asked why is that” he finished his sentence with one go, Mr William sign heavily, he knows what was about to go on but he wasn’t going to show defeat, “ well I understand were you are coming from, I know you wasn’t there when the agreement was made but as the CEO now you have every right to question, truly it is a huge amount of money and am deeply sorry for the delay of payment “ “ delay of payment” Ethan interrupted him “ you call 10 years delay of payment, let me refeze that, you decided not to pay because of course, your cousin is married to my father, did I get it right” “ I beg your pardon“ Mr William sound offended with the words of Ethan, how can he think such a thing, Richard and Edward gave themselves a gleam before focusing back on their bosses. Mr William tried to clam himself down, he knows misunderstanding will make matter worst, he was the older one there, “ I would have paid that money but my company is still passing through some crisis that hasn’t been resolved, but I promise to pay back once it's done", Ethan was silent for some time, not really considering what he said but was just acting up so Mr William will think that way, “no” Mr William was shocked with his answer “ you had ten good years of grace, grace don’t last for ever, I want my money within one week, failure to do so, we will then see in court, Richard here will attend to you", Ethan said getting up, he doesn’t want to push the matter too long even though he is having fun he has some other things to do, “how do you expect me to come up with that huge amount of money within a week” he asked in disbelief, “ Mr William, you will come up with it, same way my grandfather came up with it, I will hear from you in a week time, please do see yourself out” with that he left the office leaving Mr William dumbfounded. . (Till at Ethan office) How was he going to work this out within a week was his worries now, he knows Ethan will definitely won’t be able to see reason with him, he has just experienced first hand of his arrogant behavior, he exhale heavily before getting on his feet, Richard was waiting for both Mr William and Mr Edward so he could walk them out, he do feel sorry for Mr William as he has heard great things about the man but it was not his place to say a word. RESIDANT OF MR WILLIAMS Mr Williams walked into his living room and immediately sat on the couch resting his head on the inside back of the couch (The up edge of a couch) lost in his own thoughts. His wife Elena also known as Mrs Elena Williams descended from the stairs with a smile on her face but her smile was quickly replaced with a frown seeing the worried look on her husband’s face, she quickly walked to him sitting just right at his side and placed her hand on his lap, this brought him out of his thoughts as he was lost in them without realizing his beloved wife has sat close to him, he looked at Elena without saying a word as his mind was still occupied with thoughts, “ are you alright “ Elena asked, Mr William sign lightly before sitting up properly still not saying a word. “ please Williams, if something is wrong let me know” she pleased. Mr Williams has been in his office and on the phone since he arrived at his office in the morning trying to find who will help him with a loan that huge, that has been what him and his wife has been doing for the past days now but nothing has come out yet and he was almost frustrated with all the disappointing replies he and his wife have been getting, some promise to loan a little while others can’t help, even with all the money others have promised the amount wasn’t up to the money he is to pay Ethan, he has even went to take loan from the bank but he was refused because he doesn’t have any assets that is worth 45 billion dollars. He was already going crazy, he knows yesterday was the deadline that was given to him by Ethan but he couldn’t meet up, he was already hoping to see a court letter requesting for his presence any time soon, he has also called Vivian his cousin but still she wasn’t helpful, she and her husband can only help with little for that moment but they both have promised to try and collect a load from the bank on their behalf, he knows it will be easy for Mr Jonathan to be granted a loan because he does have assets even worth 100 billion dollars, and he pray in his heart that they should be able to help that way. Not up to two hours, barr John was seated in Mr William office going through all the documents containing the agreement between Mr William and late Donald, there was silence in the office as both were lost in what ever they were doing, Mr William was waiting patiently for his lawyer to tell him the next step to take as it has involved the court, after going through the documents for about ten minute Barr. John finally dropped the document on the table exhaling heavily, “I won’t lie to you, this isn’t going to be easy my friend”, Mr William has known barr. John since their university of days, they are more than friends so he understands when barr. John says something like that then he will never disagree to it. “ so what can we do” “ there is absolutely nothing we can do, one, the money is huge, two, you couldn’t meet up with the agreement of paying the sum of 2 million every month, you haven’t paid even for once and it has been ten years, what do you think the court will say” Barr. John Stared at Mr Williams waiting for an answer but yet no answer came as Mr William had nothing to say. “Has he made any demands or given you any conditions or he just want you to pay back immediately” barr. She has just came back from a press conference she attended in Dubai and she is so happy to be home, she barely comes home for weekends because of her busy schedule and her studies but she always finds time to visit when she could. She picked up her phone that was just at the side of the bed as she sat up on the bed, she chatted with some of her friends for about fifteen minutes before deciding to go down stair, judging from the time her father might be home already, she headed to the sitting room but found no body there then she headed to her parents room, she was so excited to see her father and to tell him all the achievements she had achieved this passed months but her excitement died down when she got closer to her parents bedroom door, she heard two recognized voice talking more like arguing over something, the door was fully lock so it wasn’t difficult for her to hear their conversation, she stood close to the door, she hates enveloping on someone conversation but she just couldn’t stop herself from doing so. “ I could suggest we tell her, she is no kid, since the situation has gotten to this” that was her father Mr William voice, “ so what are you going to say, that you can’t protect her, you are her father, we are her parents and we have a parental responsibility to preform and that is what we will do” Nadia was trying to put the words she was hearing in together, she was sure about one thingthat whatever they are discussing is definitely about her and she could love to know, she then decided to show herself, she opened the door widely and entered, Mr William and Elena immediately stopped talking when she entered which she expected from them since they really don’t want her to know whatever that was going on. “ dad, mom, is everything alright” What do you think, is it right that she is told or is Elena right. . ETHAN’S RESIDENT He opened his eyes to the sound of his ringing phone, his eyes caught the alarm clock that was just placed on the nightstand, the time says 4:26am, “what the hall” he cursed under his breath, he rolled to the other side of the bed where the phone was ringing, picking it up from the night stand he gaze at the number that was showing on his phone screen, it was an unknown number, he wonder who would be calling his line at this hour, the caller wasn’t a business associate because his business line was a different one. Ethan has three different phones for different purposes, one is for his business associates, the second was for close friends and family that has quite a few numbers since he doesn’t keep friends and family close, the other one was for numbers that isn’t in the group of neither his friends, family or business, let just say unimportant numbers and that was the particular phone that was ringing which anger him because now he just have two hours to sleep before getting ready for work. He didn’t sleep early as he had some office work he brought home, no wonder his friend (Jack) calls him a work worm, he angrily pick the call placing it on him ear “ who is this” he asked rudely, Ethan doesn’t believe in staying silence to an unknown number until the person in the other ends speaks, Jack has cautioned him about it but he care less about it. “hello handsome” a lady voice was heard on the other end of the phone. The voice sounded familiar but he just doesn’t have that time to think of any similarity, “ who ever you are, you have one second to introduce yourself and the reason for you calling at this hour, and it better be important” “ you never change do you, always this rude, and that’s one thing that I like about you, so in control “ she said ignoring his angry tone. There was only one person that has always told his that, immediately he knew who was speaking with him, “ Nina” he asked nonchalantly “ oh my, you remembered my voice” she excitedly scream on her end. “Why call me this late and with a new line” “ well I misplaced my phone, no, it was stolen from me so I bought a new one, now guess what, I am back in Nigeria, so I decided to give you a call, I have missed you so much, I got you lots of wonderful presents and I know you will love them, I will come by your office later by noon, I know you miss me too, did you miss me” she said in one go “ are you expecting me to answer that” he said tiredly “no, because I know you miss me, so see you later” “ I won’t be at the office, i have somewhere to go to and don’t know when I will be coming” He really will be busy all day and doesn’t want any drama from the drama queen herself, “really don’t worry then, we will see when you are free, now sleep well, love you” she blew him a kiss before ending the call, Ethan took the phone from his ear starring at it, “ I hate this girl” he murmured angrily dropping the phone back on the night stand, all that while Nina was screaming her lungs out, out of excitement, he has be snorting silently, he just can’t believe she was back into his peaceful life again, he leaned his face on his two palms and exhale heavily before laying back on the bed, the day was going to be a long day. MR WILLIAM’S RESIDENT Nadia woke up with a smile on her face, she has missed her bed and home so much, she looked at the time that says 7:23, “ wow, can’t believe I slept that long”, Nadia was an early raiser, right from when she was little she was praised by her friends and teachers for her punctuality to school, she quickly got up from her bed and dressed the bed up, she washed her teeth the decided to take breakfast before taking her morning bath, she headed to the sitting room knowing that her father will be in the dinning having his breakfast since he also is an early raiser that’s why e never goes to work late, guess that’s where she go that from, her smile died down as she started hearing her parents arguing again with a low voice and it was going from the dinning, “who has breakfast and fight” she thought to herself, yesterday they made her believe that it was their personal issue, an issue that has to do with wife and husband, even when she knew they were lying she choose to believe them, now they are repeating the same thing again, this wasn’t just some wife and husband issue as they have claimed and she was determined to find out what it was. Mr William has tried almost everything to persuade his wife in telling their daughter, Nadia what was happening but Elena was still adamant on her decision, he knew his daughter was a clever girl and she didn’t bought what she was told yesterday, he had hope Nadia could persist a little more so his wife could have no choice but to open up, he was disappointed when Nadia didn’t, this morning in the dinner he brought the issue up again hoping this time his wife could listen but just as before she refused which started another argument, They were trying so hard to keep their voice down because they knew Nadia could still be sleeping but their guess was wrong as the voice of Nadia made both to turn to the same direction. “Mum, dad, you both better tell me what is going on right now, and please don’t tell me it between the both of you because I never bought the lies you both came up with yesterday” she said calmly Elena and Mr William gazed at each other, they both were confused, they didn’t know what to say, Elena looked at her daughter trying to think of something but she knew her daughter will still see through another lies, the whole place was silent, they were all staring at each other, Elena exhale loudly knowing there was nothing to do but to tell her the truth “ Nadia, come sit, I and your father will tell you everything” Nadia looked at his father who nod in agreement to what his wife just said, with this Nadia move to a couch just close to her, Elena and Mr William joined her, each sitting on her opposite sides ( her left and right), she prepared herself to hear what they have to say, she just hope it’s nothing she couldn’t handle. “this can not be happening” Nadia said springing up from the couch, Elena and Mr William has just finished telling her everything leaving no stone unturned, they both took turns in explaining everything to her, she was silent throughout, listening to every words they were saying, she was indeed shock to learn all the things they told her, but she has always being a person that is always compose no matter what she face, she should be angry but she just can’t bring herself to feel that way because she really don’t know how to get angry, guess God wanted her to be that way, but upset yes she is, hurt, yes she is, she is hurt that her parents would keep all this from her, she understands that they were trying to protect her in some way but she is old enough to make her own decision, she was upset that someone was doing this to her father though she doesn’t blame whoever he is, her father was at fault in all this. “I have tried to reason with him but he won’t want to hear any of it “Mr William said seriously, “ it will be difficult to reason with him dad, who wouldn’t be unreasonable in this situation, dad, you took this loan ten years ago and an agreement was made but you broke that agreement by not paying a single payment to them” “ Nadia, you have no idea how it has been for the company this pasted years” Elena defended her husband calmly “ mum I understand but it was better we had manage then to be in this mass now and the irony of it is that I am the one that will have to pay the debt” “ I won’t allow that to happen, I know i was wrong but you have no business with what ever I did years ago, I will take care of this” “ but dad…….” Mr Williams stopped her from saying any more word by raising his hand, “I will be going to court today, they sent a letter requesting for my presence, don’t worry, things will fall in place” he caressed her cheek softly, he hope and prays he was right, Nadia knew this was not something that will be easily solved, she understands everything that was going on but she just hope her father pull thing off, she was going to allow her father do his part because she has her own plans, she was going to meet that man that feels he can use the situation at hand to have her as his wife. . . Richard is seen walking hurriedly to Ethan office with his note pad on his hand, he gently opened the door and went inside, Ethan is seen at his office desk working on his laptop at usual, he shifted his eyes away from the laptop to Richard as soon as Richard entered the office. “ sir the investors from Germany just called that they are in Nigeria and would love to hold a meeting with you today” “what………, I thought they are to arrive tomorrow” he asked in bewilderment “ yes sir the appointment was for tomorrow, but they changed their mind” “and you are just telling me this now” he barked at him Richard flinched at the sound of his voice “sir, they just called now to inform me of the change” Ethan snorted angrily, he hates not being prepared for something, he so wish to refuse them but he was a business man after all. “ what appointment do I have today” he asked a bit calm “ you have an appointment with the court by 2pm” “ what time are they coming” “ by 1:30pm” Ethan looked at his wrist watch, the time says 12:43pm, he signed heavily “call my lawyer, tell him to cancel the court hearing today, I will let him know when I will be free for that” “ okey sir. Nadia turned round she saw the same guy she saw not quite long, he knew her after all. “ you are Miss Nadia William, right” he asked as soon as he got close to her There was no point lying she smiled nodding in agreement “ I was told you want to see Mr Donald” “ yes, but I am not with any appointment, I have to take one before I will be allowed to see him” “ and the appointment has to be approved, if disapprove sorry” “ yeah “ she wrapped her arms together, she doesn’t know but it was really awkward at that moment, why was this guy talking with her, she thought, maybe he is hitting on her but she was one that don’t jump into conclusion. “ forgive my manners, I am Richard “ he said this extending his hand for an handshake, Nadia took his hands smiling “ am the personal assistant to Mr Donald” Nadia looked at him with surprise, God is really great, just when she has given up hope, God did his wonderful work. “ I can take you to him, that’s if you want” She was taking aback by what she heard “ you said” “ I said I can take you to Mr Donald, he will be pleased to see you” “ really” “ I think” Nadia can now understand why Richard was nice to her, of course, he is the personal assistant to Mr Donald, he always knows what happens around Mr Donald “ shall we” “ sure, thank you” Richard responded with a nod. . Richard leaded the way, both walked back to the hall, there was a surprise look on Tracy face as both walked pass, in no time they were at the elevator, it wasn’t a problem to find the elevator free because it was a private elevator use by Mr Donald and of course Richard when running an errand and his business associates, the lift from the down floor to the top floor where Ethan office is located was a silent one as none said a word to each other, Nadia was a little nervous, she was trying to be brave but it wasn’t really working, in no time the elevator stopped, the door opened to reveal another hall, there were people busy with one thing or the other, they walked passed them with some saluting Richard, while some girls was throwing dead stare at her, she wondered why girls are always insecure when female visitors come to visit their boss. “ please wait here let me go in to inform him” “ okey thanks” Richard left her and walked to a door just few meters away, they are away from the hall now and there was no one around, she sat down on the chairs that are meant for visitors, she prayed things goes the way she planned. “ God help your daughter” Richard rang the little bottom just at the side of the door, this was what he normally does when Ethan isn’t expecting him, he was happy that he was able to find Nadia, he doesn’t know but he really want his boss to get married to Nadia, with what he had heard about her maybe she will be the savior to his boss, after the day he went with Ethan to Mr William office and he made the request to marry Nadia, he went and dig deep into the details of Nadia and he was impressed with what he saw, so he just has that faith that Nadia might just be that woman for his boss. “ come in” Ethan voice ushered him in, he opened the door and went in, Ethan has been on his laptop since he finished the meeting with the Germany investors, he didn’t even went for lunch as there was lot of work to be done, he just can’t leave some important things for anyone because he was use to doing things himself. “sir, there is someone here to see you, I told her to wait while I inform you” “I thought I don’t have any other appointment again for today” “you don’t sir, but she came unannounced and she really wants to see you” He immediately stopped what he was doing, “she” he thought, immediately his mind went to Nina, “ I thought I told her not to come today” he said this more to himself, Richard was confused at this remark, was his boss communicating with Nadia. “ tell her am busy, I will call her when an free” “ yes sir” he responded disappointedly “ and one more thing, tell her I will have lunch with her tomorrow by 2pm, so remain me tomorrow to have lunch with Nina” “Nina” he was totally confused now “ yes” “ I thought her name is Nadia” It was Ethan turn to be confused “ who ss the she you were talking about “ “ Nadia William sir” How could she come to see him, a quick smile was seen on his face. “ let her come in” “ okey sir “ he said with a big smile on his face, he quickly went out to get Nadia, “ he wants you to come in” “ thanks” Nadia walked with Richard to Ethan office, it was time to meet the one that want to be her husband. Now their face was only few inches away from each other, they were this close that they could feel each other breathe. “ do you know what I can so to your father, your family, if you refuse to marry me” “ I won’t be your wife” “ are you sure about that” “ I know what I want and you are not part of the things I want” He was getting angry now but he is trying to control it, Nadia tried to stand up from the seat but Ethan quickly placed his hand on the chair handle, preventing her to move. “ do you know I can get any woman I want, do you know the women I have taken to bed” “ I don’t care, I am not going to marry you, you can’t force a woman to be your wife, it just don’t happen” “I can see you are as stubborn as your father, well we are going to do it this way, I will give you a week to reflect on your word, just one week, like you said I can’t force you to marry me but I can definitely make you to marry me” with that said he sat up giving room for Nadia to flinched up from her seat, she was breathing heavily now, she quickly composed herself as she was scared out of her skin that Ethan could do something to her, the way his office was she knew it has to be soundproof which is good on a normal circumstances but bad for her at that moment “ you can play any game you think you can play, but I will not be your wife” She is daring him now, an evil smirk appeared on his lip, this was going to be fun he thought “we will see about that” Nadia couldn’t get any words out of her mouth as she stared angrily at Ethan and Ethan staring back, “ it could be nice to call you, wifey” Nadia rolled her eyes to this and angrily left the office, she just can’t believe she wasted her time to come here, her father was right after all, Ethan can not be reason with but that doesn’t mean she will give up, this was now her fight and she pray for strength to fight it. The day of the court hearing was drawing near, Nadia and her parents have been working endlessly to come up with at least half the money and it was going well for them, Nadia was able to contact some of her friends she made while on some business presentation and also on her blog and they all gladly helped, some giving her some amount of money as a appreciation for the good advice she gave that helped them in businesses, how ironic that she was helping others business to stand while her parents business has been suffering which she intend to work on once she is done with Ethan. She was also able to convince Mr Jonathan, Ethan father for a loan too, at first Mr Jonathan refused for the fear that Ethan will be so mad and might do something stupid if he finds out but Nadia assured him that it will be a secret without both of them that even Mr William and Elena will not even be aware of it, Mr William and his wife was amazed at how their daughter was able to raise a large sum of money within days, they were so proud of their daughter and hope that her efforts will not go to waste. At the end of the week that was given to them by Ethan, adding the money that Mr Williams was able to find many weeks ago and the one he found now, they were able to come up with twenty-five billion dollars which to them will be able to convince Ethan and the court that they will be able to pay the rest if given enough time. Mr William went to Nadia’s room to see her, upon getting there he found her on her knees praying, Nadia has always been a good prayer warrior, her faith in God was so strong that she always pray before making any decision, to him he thinks that’s why many ways always open up for her, indeed God was at his daughter’s side, he walked in and sat at the edge of the bed gently trying not to make any sound as he wouldn’t want to disturb her prayer. IN THE DREAM Nadia opened her eyes but later shut it close because of the sun light that flashed on her eyes, she used her hand to shield her eyes from the sunlight as she sat up, the place was quiet, only the sound of birds were heard as they fly round the sea, she looked around and found out that she was in a beach but no one was around, how did she get here was what she didn’t know, determined to find her way out of this place she got up from the sand she has been laying on, that was when she discovered she was wearing a wedding dress, what was she doing on a wedding dress, she thought to herself, pulling up her dress she began to walk to no where in particular, she was already getting tired as the heat from the sun was really affecting her, she fell on the sand as there was no more strength left in her, she looked around again to see if there was any one that can help, that was when she saw a man’s figure, she was so happy that at last she wasn’t alone, “hey Mr” She called out but the man didn’t even flinch, he was just looking at the sea that was in front of him, she got up and started to get close to him maybe he didn’t hear her. “Hello, excuse me, do you have any idea where I am” She asked but just like before the man ignored her, getting frustrated she cried out again “ can’t you hear me” Just then the man began walking towards the sea without facing or answering her, she is yet to see the man’s face, “ where are you going?” she asked again but as before he didn’t reply but kept walking further into the sea, “ where are you going?, please stop” she said admit tear now, she was trying to process what the man was doing, did he want to swim or what, then it clinked to her, he was about to drown himself, “ hey stop, you are going to die” she called out but yet he didn’t listen but continue to walk further that the water was already reaching his waist, “ please stop”, with that the man stopped, she was happy that he listened this time, he stood there for few minute without moving, “ hello” she called again worrying why he wasn’t moving, that was when the man turned and the face of Ethan came to view, his clothes was dirty, he looks so unkept and he was crying, she gapes in shock of what she was seeing, “ Mr donald”, Ethan turned facing the sea again he continued walking towards the sea, with terror of what was about to happen she tried to run to get him but her legs refused to move, she fell on her knees now in tears calling out to Ethan for him to stop but he keep moving until he was swallowed by the sea, “ noooooooooo, Ethan” DREAM END “His name is always the last thing I say before waking up, and I always wake up scared like its real” Mr William wouldn’t find any meaning to the dream, as he too was also confused. “ this dream is very complicated, you in a wedding dress but no wedding and on a beach with no one, he is on dirty clothes and in tears and he drowned himself, Mr Donald will never wear something like that, and cry, I doubt if he even knows the meaning of the words tears”. “ that’s the point father, and I continue seeing same dream every night” “ don’t think too much about it, I really can’t help you with the meaning, just pray to God that it’s meaning is not something evil, in time he will explain it to you more clearly ok” “ okey” she said not sure if she has the time to wait for it to become clearer, she has to know what the meaning of the dream that has been giving her sleepless nights means. “ why don’t you try and eat something ok” Nadia nodded in agreement, getting up with her father as both left her room. THE NEXT DAY Mr William entered the sitting room feeling devastated as he slowly walked to one of the couch and collapsed on it, he leaned his face on his palm as he sobbed quietly, he has just come back from the court and the outcome was didn’t go well, Barr. John walked into the sitting room standing just close to him friend, he was the one that drove Mr William home as he couldn’t drive after the bad news he got, Barr. John placed his hands on his waist as he exhale sadly. Elena came into the sitting, “ what happened, how did it go?” she asked no one in particular, she was scared seeing the sad look on Barr. To Ethan everywhere moved in slow pace, he couldn’t remember when last he was hit by anyone, all his hurtful memories of the pain he has went through came pouring down on him, then the anger and then the rage, he was so going to kill Nadia for having the thought to slap him. Immediately Nadia slapped Ethan, jack spring up from his seat, he looked shocked but he quickly got himself as he rushed to create a blockage for Nadia so Ethan could not do anything stupid, he knew Nadia was done for, and he was just in time to prevent Ethan from hitting Nadia as him hand was already on the air few inches from Nadia’s face, Nadia was shocked relieving she was almost slapped by Ethan if not for the intervention of the young man that was now standing in between her and Ethan, she stepped back as Ethan was trying so to push through the young man to get to her, Ethan eyes was now blood as he stared at Nadia, how dare she slapped him, and how dare jack block his way preventing him from dealing with her. “ how dare you, how f**king dare you” Ethan barked angrily as he pushed forward but was always pushed back by Jack, “ man, you need to calm down, and you take her out of here” he shouted at Richard who has been standing there transfix, he quickly got himself and hurriedly dragged Nadia out of the office, “ haaaaa, am fucking going to kill her” Ethan shouted in rage heading for the door but jack was fast enough, he blocked the door preventing him from getting out, he knows his friend was on the edge now and nothing could stop him from exploding. “ get out of my way” he shouted at jack “ you need to cool this off, okey,” “ she slapped me” “ I know but please calm down, you are not leaving here until you are calm” “ okey am calm” he said trying to behave clam ” no you are not” “ I said an fucking calm” he snapped at jack “ no you are not” jack barked at him Ethan with annoyance went to his desk in one go throwed everything to the ground, he was so angry right, he can’t just get over the thought that he was just slapped by a woman. “ what is wrong with you miss Nadia, do you know what you just did” Richard fired at her as soon as they got into the elevator, Nadia wasn’t pleased with what she did but at the same time didn’t regret it, Ethan deserves more than that for putting her father in his present situation, she ignored Richard not interested in what he was saying . “ look I know you are angry but you went to far, you just put a lot of people in problem” Nadia looked up at him not understanding what he meant “ what do you mean?” “ he will definitely ask how you were able to pass the front desk, the second and third desks then the security without being stopped or questioned, and it will all fall to me, I was the one that passed the order that no one should question you whenever you come around, am definitely going to get sack, he will sack somebody, if not everyone “ That was when it hits her, that’s why she was able to get through without no check up “ oh my God”, she believed everything that Richard told her, someone like Ethan will definitely do as she was told. WILLIAM’S RESIDENT Nadia got home after hours of driving clearing her head and mind which she needed and walk straight to her parents bedroom, she quietly opened the door without entering, her mother was sleeping at the other end of the bed just close to her father still on the clothes she was wearing in the day, she must have cried herself to sleep, her father too was also sleeping. she closed the door quietly again and headed to her room, she took off her clothes leaving them just laying on the floor of her bedroom, she went to the bathroom to have her bath, she closed her eyes as the cold water touched her skin, this was what she needed, a cold bath. Maybe it will make her to forget what she has done few minutes ago, she drifted into her own thought, “ how am I going to do this, God please help me find a way, my parents can’t lose everything, what if it’s my fault, I should have just agreed to marry him when he asked, God please help your daughter”, she didn’t know when the tears starts pouring out from her eyes. After about 15 minutes in the bathroom as she spent most of the minutes there crying and talking to God she came out, she put on her pyjama, it was just 7pm but she too decided to sleep, maybe a good sleep will give her a good idea that will help her and her family, she was about to climb onto her bed when she heard a knock at her door, she opened up to see one of the maid. “ good evening ma’am” she greeted bowing her knees and head “good evening, what is it?” “there is someone on the landline that want to speak with you” “okey am going, thank you” she said trying to think of anyone that will possible call her on the landline, she went immediately to the sitting room where the land line is and picked it up. “ hello, Nadia William speaking, who is this please” she spoke into the phone “ Good evening Miss Nadia, it’s me Richard” She looked at the phone surprisingly then placed it back on her ear “you said who are you again?” she asked again trying to be sure she heard the name correctly “ it’s Richard, Mr Donald PA or rather ex PA” Nadia was shocked with the relaxation, “ he sacked you” “yeah he did” “ am so sorry, this is all my fault” She has been apologizing to Richard even before she left Ethan’s company, Richard should be angry with her but here he is calling her, he just doesn’t know but he have the urge to help her. “ that’s not a problem, things happens, but that’s not why am calling you” “ no, then what is it?” “ I really don’t know why I want to help you but I just want to, if you want to help your family, there is only one person that can help you do that” Nadia mood lighten up to hear that there might be a way to help her father “ what is it?” “ it’s not what, is who, there is only one person that Ethan does listen to and that is his godfather, senator Philip “ “ Senator Philip, I know him, I have met with him on one occasion, he is Ethan godfather?” “ yes, if you are able to talk with him, he might be able to help, do you want to give it a try” “ yes of course, but how do I meet him?” “ he is hosting a party tomorrow evening in Lagos , if you are willing to go I can get an invitation for you” Getting am invitation latter for Nadia won’t be a problem, that the benefits of being Ethan’s PA, Nadia contemplated on what Richard told her before finally made up her mind, she will do anything to help her parents. “yes am in” “ but mine you, Ethan will be there so try to avoid him, you target is Senator Philip “ “ that won’t be a problem” she said confidently “ I will call you tomorrow so we will make preparation” “alright, but why are you helping me?” “ like I said, I really don’t know, talk tomorrow” The line ended, she dropped the phone contemplating on all what Richard said, she knew it wasn’t going to be easy but she will do anything to get her family back on their feet, she prays in her heart Richard was right about what he said, maybe God is answering her prayer after all, she headed back to her room, she needed to catch some sleep for her, tomorrow is going to be a long day. “Lagos, am going to you”. . Nadia and Ethan (Marriage contract gone wrong) . Sequence 15 . Written by Joy Osamudiamen . So sorry guys for the late posting of this episode, was really busy so couldn't have time to write, I hope I will be able make it up to you guys by posting two sequence for today. Please don't be offended. . Continues... . Nadia exhale tiredly as she dropped her luggage on the floor of the hotel room she has occupied, she has just lounged into one of the hotels in Lagos state, she just have hours to prepare for the party of Senator Philip who she has gotten the location and invitation card from Richard, Richard had called as promised to inform her that he has left some package for her in the hands of her security, she was indeed grateful to Richard now everything was in her hands, she sat down on the bed looking around the room, she was impressed with the room design. She snorted angrily remembering the event that took place in the early hour of that day at her house. EARLIER THAT DAY There was a knock on the gate, the security quickly rush out from his quarter, he first looked through the small hole that was made on the gate and found three men standing close to the gate, he opened the gate stepping out of the compound as he closed the gate behind, this he normally does for security reasons. “ Good morning gentle men, how may I be of help to you” he asked “ Good morning, I am detective Lucky”, the head of the small group responded “ we are from the Nigeria Police Headquarter, Louis Edet House” he said this as they all brought out their ID cards showing it to him, he nodded after seeing the ID cards. “ we are here to see Miss Nadia William, is she at home?” “ yes, please come in” He ushered them in, detective Lucky and his men walked in after thanking the security, who immediately leaded them to the front door of the house, a maid opened the door after the security rang the door bell twice, he told the maid same thing that detective Lucky said and she too allowed them inside the sitting room, the security went back to his post after that. The maid offered them seats which they declined politely, without wasting time the maid went to Elena’s room to first inform her, she will be the one to call her daughter because she didn’t know what her small ma’am has done that attracted the attention of the police. Elena was surprised to hear that some police men was at her sitting room asking for her daughter, this was the first time such thing is happening, the maid had gently knocked on the day which was opened almost immediately, she had lower her voice as she passed the information to Elena, Elena without waking her husband as he wasn’t in any condition to handle what ever reason the officer were here for, she descended the stair with a worried look on her face, in no time she was facing the officers. “Good morning officers” she greeted them as soon as she approached them, they in returned responded to her greeting. “ I am Mrs Elena William, I was told that you are looking for my daughter, did anything happened?” “ so sorry to disturb you at this early hour of the day, my name is detective Lucky, this is detective Andrew, and detective Frank, we are from the Nigeria Police Headquarter, Louis Edet House, and to answer your question, no, nothing serious happened, we are just here to ask some questions” “ some questions?”, she asked surprisingly, she knew the officer won’t say anything until they see her daughter, she trusted her daughter so what ever reason why they were here might be a misunderstanding. “ go call Nadia”, she ordered the maid that has been standing there all along, the maid bow and left immediately to call Nadia. Nadia came down few minutes later surprised to see her mother up so early in the sitting room with some men she didn’t recognized, there were worries in her mother’s eyes which she wondered why. She just woke up from that same dream again, she was just about to get up from her bed to pray again as she normally does only to be stopped by a knock on the door, when she was told that her mother called for her to the sitting room, she thought it was all about her father as she rushed down stairs only to meet her mother and three men who later introduced themselves as a police officer. “ what is going on?”, it was her turn to ask. “ we apologize for the disturbance, we could have been here yesterday but we decided against it as it was late already when the information got to us” “ what information?”, she asked not liking the feeling of what was happening “ we got a call from Mr Donald, I presume you know him?” he asked looking straight at her. “ yes of course” she answered him without hesitation, she felt something was wrong at the mention of Ethan. “ he called yesterday reposting a breaking and entry, he said you broke into his office yesterday, is that correct” “WHAT. I didn’t break into his office” she said surprise at what she was hearing. “ where you on an appointment” “ no but” “ we have you on camera ma’am” he said interrupting her “ Nadia, why would you go to Mr Donald office, why?” Elena asked Nadia, she was surprise and also a little disappointed in her not because she believed what the officers said but because she never expected she could be too dumb to go and see Ethan alone. “ mum, I didn’t break in, I was allowed in, you have to believe me” she looked at her mother with pleading eyes, Elena believed her, she knew Ethan was trying to get back at her daughter for some reason he took personal, she was more interested in finding out what happened between them that will make Ethan to take such step. “ am afraid you have to come with us to the station for more questioning” Fear took over Nadia, she has never been to the station before, either to visit a friend or for another reason. “ we will come with you people, but you have to give us time to properly dress up”, that was Elena that spoke, she wasn’t going to allow her daughter to go alone with some officers, she didn’t want to leave her husband but she is also her daughter, she took Nadia by the hand and headed upstairs, it wasn’t easy but she was able to convince Nadia to remain calm as she knew she was scared. ETHAN’S RESIDENCE Ethan was in his room dressing up, as usual he woke up early to prepare for work, there was so much to be done as Richard wasn’t around now, and he has to get to Lagos today for Senator Philip’s party, he wish he could refuse as he knew Nina will be there but of course he couldn’t, his presence is always at parties like this as the godson of Senator Philip, and beside it has been long he saw the old man. He knew he seriously needs a new PA, his personal secretary has filled in the gape of his PA after Richard left yesterday, he could have made her his PA but he prefers men, he has already made the announcement to his human resource manager to hire someone else for him, hopefully he will get one today, it always easy to find a replacement of any employee he sack, who wouldn’t want to work in his company. He shifts his attention to his ringing phone that was just few meters away from him, he walked to where it is, the name detective lucky was boldly written on the screen, he picked it up immediately knowing that the assignment he gave to him has been carried out. “ yes” “ we have her now in our custody “ “ good, one strand of her hair shouldn’t be touched, I repeat, not one strand, just give her some paper to sign or whatever, you know what to do” “ of course sir” With that he ended the call, a smirk appeared on his face as he imagined the look that will be on Nadia face now, this was just a little beginning of what he has in stock for her. PRESENT : AT SENATOR PHILIP’S PARTY Locating the venue Senator Philip’s party was to hold wasn’t very difficult for her, she was still inside the taxi she called to pick her up, she has been few minutes early but she still refused to step out of the car, the taxi driver wasn’t complaining as he will be well paid, there were already people that are all dress elegantly with colorful dresses, men were mostly on suits, she looked as herself thanking God that she has dressed properly and also elegantly. It has been an hours that she has arrived, she doesn’t know why she was still in the car, was she nervous?, she just couldn’t tell but there was this feeling in her stomach and she just don’t understands it, taking a deep breath she came down from the car and headed to the party, she has already paid the taxi driver few minutes ago when he was getting impatient, she has to pay him to keep his mouth shut, the party was held in one of the five stars hotel in Lagos, stepping into the reception hall after she has shown the security her invitation card. The place was already filled with people of different status, truly this is one big man’s party, now without wasting more time she set out to find senator Philip, she really needs to get everything done, she walked around observing her surrounding very carefully as she wouldn’t want to run into Ethan, her Long Gold Silver Sequins dress with a slash neck matched perfectly on her body bringing and putting her curves in their right places, with a silver heel, a silver purse and silver earrings, necklace and bracelet to go with it, she allowed her Brazilian body wave loose, she did a little makeup bringing out a beauty. After few minutes of searching , she saw him, Senator Philip, the man she has been looking for talking to one of his guests with a bond smile on his face, “ this is a great opportunity for me” she murmured to herself, taking a step she walked to Senator Philip, who has just finished talking with the guest as he made to move away from them, but Nadia approached him stopping him. “ good evening, Senator Philip”, she said with a warm smile on her face, extending her hand to him which he shook lightly also with a smile “ hello there, you are…” he Responded staring into the familiar beautiful face “ oh forgive my manners, am Nadia William, daughter to the owner of Rockage cooperation” “ oh, nice to meet you young lady” , he had thought that she was one of the girls that had accompanied some of his men friends to the party but she just proved him wrong, “ we have meet before at a conference meeting five months ago in Dubai” Just then he remembered her, though they didn’t exchange any words that day, he has been impressed by her little presentation she did for who he guessed was the company she works for. “ nice to meet you again, though this isn’t a conducive moment to talk I am still very happy to see you, how are you enjoying the party” “ oh the party is great, thank you for asking” “ no need for that, I am the host after all, I will love to see you again that’s if you don’t mind” Don't mind, I so don’t mind “ not at all” “ good, this is my personal card, do call me so we can sit and talk” he said giving her his card he has brought out of his suit pocket, she collected it from him happily “ I will give you a call sir” “ will be expecting it, I have to leave you now, I have other guests to attend to, do have a nice night” He walked away after saying this with Nadia only nodding, she was so surprised as how things went, she had thought it will be difficult but God was on her side, she looked at the card in her hand, smiling inwardly, “ I will so call you, sir”, she said this putting it in her purse, now she needs to get out of here, there was nothing she was doing here and she don’t want to come face with Ethan, she quickly made her way out of the place, without looking where she was going as she walked hurriedly only to bumped into the hard back of someone, it was definitely a male judging from how hard and bond the back is, “ am so sorry, so so sorry….” She held her breath as the eyes of the only one she didn’t want to see burned through her eyes, so much for not running into him. Hello guys, I thank you all for the welcome greetings, and thank you for your understanding regarding the delay of my last post. . Continues.. . The day has been stressful for Ethan, with Richard not around he was finding it difficult to get some things right, I hope that his Human resources manager will be able to find someone before he comes back from Senator Philip's party, going to Lagos wasn’t a problem for him as his private jet was always ready whenever you wish to travel, he wasn’t going to spend long at the party, not that he wasn’t a social person, he is, but being around some old politicians wasn’t something he values. He was at the bar at the party drinking from a glass of champagne that was given to him by the barman, he was just waiting for Senator Philip to give his speech so he could run off to his room that was just on the seventh floor of the same hotel that the party is been held, the hotel belongs to him though only few people knows about this, and Senator Philip again decided to use his hotel for a party. Senator Philip was a man who loves parties that Ethan wonders how many parties he throws a month, he had refused to come but senator didn’t want to hear of it so there he was as always, he just don’t know how to refuse him. “ I knew I will find you around” Without turning to see who it was he already knew, he let it a frustrated sign before he could stop himself, turning around he came in face with Nina, who had a little frown on he face, she is obviously not happy not that he cares. “ you have been ignoring my calls?, please kindly tell me why?” she said crossing her hands on her chest, as usual she is dress in a red knee-length Bodycon bandage one shoulder midi dress with the drees cut open at the side to reveal her fair thigh, parking her hair into ponytail with no necklace on just gold earrings, matching it with her red heel and golden purse, and of course her heavy makeup that fits her perfectly, This’s part of the reason he just don’t like her, Ethan love sexy ladies but not definitely the kind you have to be dressed half naked in public to get attention. Ethan rolled his eyes at the question she asked, manner lost as always “Good evening to you Nina, it’s like you forgot your manners at home again “ “ oh please, yeah yeah yeah, manners lecturing again, that is obviously not the topic “ “maybe if you have asked more nicely I could have told you why am ignoring your calls” He said this dropping his glass of champagne as he made to walk away, Nina looked at him with her jaw dropping, how could he ignore her calls, she quickly caught herself as Ethan walked passed her but she wasn’t going to let him walk away, she just doesn’t know why she keeps trying to win Ethan love even when she knows Ethan has no interest on her, she always gets what she want and Ethan won’t be an exception, even if she has to wait, she will. She quickly got hold of Ethan arm turning him over to face her, “ you just don’t walk out on me okey” she said her voice a little bit raise, she wasn’t angry but she needed to pretend to be. “ so you did agreed to ignore my calls” “ I really don’t have time for this Nina, can we do this another day” “ well you don’t have another day as you are the one ignoring calls” He was about to growl in frustration only for him to feel the pressure of someone press upon his back, thank God for the work out he does, he could have lost his balance and obviously fall on Nina who was still standing opposite him, that could have been embarrassing, he was so ready to put all his anger on who so ever decided to be the scape goat, “ am so sorry, so….so…….sorry” he heard the person apologizing voice who obviously was a lady, he turned round with his angry face only for his face to be replaced with a surprise one on seeing who bumped into him. They both stood there just staring at each other, each not knowing what to say to the other because them were both surprised to see each other. Well Nadia wasn’t that surprise to see him here but she never expected to run into him, but as for Ethan, he was surprised to see her, after what seems like forever, Ethan decided to break the silent, it wasn’t exactly silent as there was light music playing at the background, it’s a party after all. “ what are you doing here?” he asked suspiciously but calmly Nadia was more surprised to hear him talk so calmly but she knew unbeneath that calmness there is a beast about to explode. “ hello, hi lady, can you stop staring at my man now”, that was Nina who snapped at Nadia who raised her eyebrows in surprise, was she for real or she was just trying to play a joke, any way she was going to play along, at least maybe she can use it to get away from here, “ oh so sorry, it’s my fault to bump into your man” she said stressing the last word, Ethan let out a frustrated sigh, he was obviously not enjoying this. “ so now I have apologized, I will just take my leave, bye bye” she was about to turn and walk away but Ethan wasn’t going to have that, he grabbed her by her hands lightly not wanting to leave a bruce on her soft skin, Nadia who didn’t expect to be pull back gave out a light gape of shock. “ no way you are walking out of here just like that” he said as Nadia stood now facing him, “ what…..”, Nina wanted to say, for she was shocked at what Ethan did, did they know each other?, or Ethan was just trying to vex his anger on her for bumping into him, but she was cut short by Ethan who interrupted her by raising one of his finger “ not now Nina” With that he walked away dragging Nadia along with him, Nadia tried to protest but the hold on her was not letting go, she fear for herself as he watched Ethan heading to the elevator, “ where……are you…. taking me to?” She asked stammering in fear, only to be ignored by Ethan. Not long they were inside the elevator yet Ethan didn’t let her go, the little sound from the elevator signal them that they have reached their destination and the door to the elevator opened, Nadia didn’t know the floor them where, but judging from the movement and how long the ride was, she knew they went downward, maybe to fourth of fifth floor. Ethan immediately let go of her as they entered the hallway, he has took her here because this floor was a private floor, so him and of course those he calls family and friends has rooms here and they all seems to be enjoying themselves at the party. “ now tell me, what are you doing here and how did you get here?” he was no longer calm, there were not in public so he had nothing to worry about, not that he care more about what others think but if he will end up getting married to Nadia, he wouldn’t want to give them something to talk about before they even get the chance to say I do. “ well isn’t it obvious, it’s a party after all and I know its not your party” She replied him, she needed to act as if she is unaware that senator Philip is his godfather. “ don’t play dumb with me Nadia” he snapped at her, he knows Nadia was here for something and don’t know how to shake the feeling off him. “ am I?, you are the one that took me to only God knows where and start asking questions” “ are you following me?” it was more like an accusation than a question Nadia raised her eyebrows in amusement “ oh please no, and why will I do that, okey look I know you have your doubts but hey, I didn’t come here for you, why will I even do that” “ really” he wasn’t convinced “ I am not following you okey, why will I even do that” “ I don’t know, you tell me” he said this taking a step closer to Nadia who in return take a step back. “ what….what are you doing” she was stammering, a little scared of what he was going to do to her, there was no one here so yea she was scared and she did nothing to hide it. Ethan didn’t stop moving until her back touched the wall, even at that Ethan went closer to her until they were no space between them only the hand of Nadia that rest on his chest preventing him from going closer, from the way they were standing, you will mistake them for lovely couples. Ethan was few inches taller than Nadia making her to look like a little child in the arms of a young man, Ethan was so tempted to take her into his arms as naughty thoughts came flashing into his mind, but he quickly shook it off, He placed his right hand on the wall few inches away from Nadia, Nadia hates the warmness his body brings to hers, there was so much warmness coming from this man standing in front of her but yet he seems cold, that’s why she just can’t seems to warm up to him. “ you are acting all smart now right?, that means the little message I passed to you this morning didn’t clear out things, did it?, I could have allowed you kept in their custody, maybe you wouldn’t be in here right now” he seriously said, Nadia thought about what he meant by what he said until everything clicked “ you did that just to get to me?” she said more like a statement than a question, Ethan leaded even more closer to her, she tense with his closeness now, this was too close, he didn’t seem to mind their position as he whispers in her ear “ oh I can do more if you don’t stop pushing me, I am that one man you should beware of, next time, you will not be this lucky, you will leave this place immediately, that is an order coming from me, and you will obey if you want to leave here in one piece “ he threatened Oh she really want to leave in one piece and he doesn’t need to threaten her for her to do that, she was always on her way out if not for him that brought her here, she didn’t say anything as he just stare at him, after saying that he stepped back and walked away, Nadia let out the breath she didn’t know she was holding, well now is for her to find her way back, she was scared that he could do something to her but hopefully nothing happened, at least she has gotten what she came for. Nadia arrived to Abuja the next day morning, she took an early flight because she wanted to arrive home on time to avoid unnecessary questions from her mother, because her mother wasn’t aware that she traveled to Abuja, she just has to come up with something to tell her, just as she has planned her parents were still sleeping when she arrived home, she went to her room and immediately went to bed as she was still very tired and sleepy due to the fact that she didn’t get enough sleep before waking up to catch her flight. The ringing on her phone woke her up, she picked it with looking at the caller, it was an unsaved number “ hello” “ Good morning miss William” She recognized the voice, she immediately sat up on her bed, sleep leaving her eyes, “ good morning to you, i wasn’t hoping to hear from you again” she said trying not to sound exciting, she was really happy to hear from him, she really needed someone that can help her in arranging her next plan, even if she doesn’t know him that much he felt he can trust him. Richard chuckles in the other end, “ well of course, just calling to know how yesterday went?” “ oh it went well, I met with him and luckily for me he left me his card” “ woah, that’s a good start, so have you called him” “ no not yet” “ so what are you waiting for, you have to call him so he can fits am appointment with him, you know he’s a busy man” “ yeah, I will do that once it’s mid day” “ it’s already midday” “ its already midday?” She asked surprisingly “ yea, it’s 2pm already” 2pm, she was surprised that she slept that long, she won’t blame her body, her body needed it. “ once we end this call, I will put a call to him” “ okey then I will leave you to it, just call me back once you are done” “ okey” With that the line went dead, she immediately got out of bed to her bag where she has kept the card, immediately she got hold of it she sat back on her bed and dialed the number, she did the sign of the cross as the line began to ring at the other end, after the fourth ring a male voice came through the phone, “ hello, this is Senator Philip speaking” “ Good afternoon Senator, am Nadia William, the lady you gave your card to yesterday at your party “ She hope he would remember her, since she knew he might have given his card to a lot of people that night, but what he said surprised her. “ Nadia, of course, I have been expecting your call, I know you have something you will love to share with me, so how about we meet?” Well that was easy again. “ yes sir you are correct, I do have something important to share with you, but at the moment I am in Abuja, but that won’t be a problem for me as I can take another flight to Lagos to see you” “ no, that won’t be necessary as I will be in Abuja two days from now, I hope whatever you want to tell me can wait still then” “ yes of course” “ good, see you then, I will save your number now and put a call to you one am in Abuja” “ okey sir, thank you sir” “ Don’t thank me yet, until whatever you want me to help you with is done, you take care” “ you too sir” and the line went dead. How was things working so easy for her?, though she has expected this, but she never knew it will be this easy, she was thinking she had to explain herself more before he will even agree to hear her reason for requesting a meeting with him, lord be praised, she quickly went through her call log and daily Richard's number. . Continues.. “ You are fired” Ethan shouted at the young boy that was trying eagerly to arrange the files that was placed on Ethan’s office desk, “ sir, am searching for it now, I knew I brought it to the office with me” “ yeah and it disappeared into tin air” he scowled at him defiantly, the young boy that was standing in front of him stopped what he was doing, it very obvious that he must have forgotten the file that Ethan has requested for at home. “ am sorry sir” he murmured loud enough for Ethan to hear “ yeah, sorry for yourself, now out of my office and from my company” With his head bowed, he walked out of the office. Ethan leaned deeper into his chair, the past two days since he came back from the party hasn’t been easy for him, he also has left the next day to Abuja and since then he has been working non stop, he thought he will be able to get a good PA once he got back from Lagos but that wasn’t what was happening, he contemplates on calling Richard back but his ego and pride won’t allow it. The door opened to reveal Jack, who walked in with his hands on his jeans pocket looking intently at Ethan, Ethan who could no longer stand the hard gaze that his friend was giving him spoke out “ what?” “ your new PA just got sacked again, do you realize that is the third you are sacking in just two days?, at least this one lasted longer than the other two” he said sarcastically “ yeah, tell me about it” he went back to tying on his laptop “ you are being difficult” jack remark but Ethan ignored his remarks as he continues to type on his laptop, jack got silent with his silence, he sat down placing his two hands on the desk as he leaned closer. “ why don’t you drop your ego and just call Richard back, that young man is good at what he does” “ so as everyone who has been working here as my PA for the past years” he restored “ and yet, you fire them, truth be told, Richard is the only one that has stayed longer that the rest” he pause few minutes then continues when he saw Ethan wasn’t going to comply to his request, “ you know I hate it when you choose to be stubborn and adamant on something, I really can’t get you to change your mind on something and its really frustrating” he said leaning unto his sit in defeat. The office was replaced with silent, the clicking sound of the laptop keyboard was the only sound that could be heard, but not quite long as the ringing of Ethan phone was heard, Ethan stopped what he was doing, taking the phone from the desk, he immediately picked the call as the name Senator Philip was written boldly on the screen. “ Good day sir………., that’s great…….. Of course…… I will……… bye sir” And the conversation was over, Jack raised his eyebrow in a WHAT’S HAPPENING way. “ it’s Senator Philip, he called to inform me that he is in Abuja and wants to see me” “ ohhhh” was all Jack could say as he went back to his phone. ************************ Nadia rushed out of her room as she headed to the sitting room, she just got a call from Senator Philip not long ago and he wants to make her in twenty minutes time, well she has use seven minutes to get herself really, she was dress in a simple wear of a blue skinny jean, a white button down shirt to go with it, on her foot was a simple flat and on her hand was a white small handbag, as always, her hair was loose with no make up on she look extremely beautiful. She spots her mum coming from the kitchen, she was obviously cooking, with the little cloth in her hands she wiped her wet hands with it, “ you are going out?” she asked “ yeah, need to meet up with a friend of mine, I will be back before dinner, I promise" “ okey, just be careful” “ I will” with that she went out of the house, getting into her car she speed out after the security opened the gate. As she drives, she thought of the out come of the meeting that she is about to hold with the Senator, and prays he understands her and agree to help. Her father was now getting better, though he doesn’t go out to work but sometimes walk round the house to exercise himself with her mother’s help of course, her mother and her try so much not to make his mind ward off to the situation at hand as the doctor has advised that he shouldn’t think too much, they have to prevent his blood pressure from increasing, she had feared for the worst but she thank God for helping her father, only one thing can bring her father back to his feet again and she was going to make that happen. She arrived at the address that was given to her by Senator Philip when he call earlier, she parked her car outside just close to the gate, getting to the gate she lightly knocked, a security opened the gate and came out almost immediately as if he was expecting her to knock. The security was dress in an army uniform to indicate that he was a soldier, of course who will be in the best position to protect one of the senator of the federal republic of Nigeria if not soldiers. “ good afternoon” she wasn’t sure what time was it as she didn’t check the time before she dashed out of the house “ good afternoon” the army guy politely respond “ Am hear to see Senator Philip, he knows am coming” she said giving him her best smile “ your name” “ Nadia William" “ yes, please come in, he is expecting you” “ thank you” Nadia walked in to the house as the army guy gave way for her, there were more soldiers inside the compound on guard, she was not sure if she made the wrong decision in coming here. What if the Senator isn’t a gentleman?, what if he tries to do something to her?, how was she going to escape?, what if he harms her?. She didn’t even told her mother where she was heading to. All this question was roaming around her head, she was lost in thought that she didn’t know she was standing at the front door that was already open and a young lady was standing at the door gesturing her to go inside, she turned to her side and found no one there, the security must have left when she was deep in thought, with a light nod she walked into the house. She didn’t have time to assess the house when she was walking in as her mind ran off, but she knew it was a two-storey building, inside design was very simple that she doubts if the senator lives here, of course, this couldn’t be his home, many politicians have a lot of houses all over the country for security reasons. Not long after she was offered a seat and a cold glass of orange juice by the maid, Senator Philip came into the sitting room with a smiling face, “ good afternoon sir” she greeted him wanting to stand up but stopped mid way by his voice “ oh no need to get up, please have your seat” Nadia did as she was told followed by senator Philip “ I can see they have already offered you refreshment, that’s good” Nadia only nod with a smile platter on her face as she didn’t know what to say. “ now we are here, so without wasting your time and of course mine, can you now tell me what is it you want to tell me about” he asked looking straight at her. Nadia released the breathe she has been holding as she began to tell senator Philip everything that has been going on between Ethan and her father, excluding her out of it, senator listen with great attention as Nadia continues with what she was saying. “ interesting” that was what he said the moment Nadia finished with what she was saying, he has been nodding his head as Nadia was explaining the reason why she was around, not for once interrupting her. “ my friend, late Donald was a generous man, who help people without hesitation, he was and still remains my best friend and brother, so that is why I believe what you told me about him leaning such amount of money to your father, and I also believe your father didn’t meet up with the agreement because I know all about the loan, of course, late Donald was like a brother to me so we didn’t hide anything from each other but……… do you know your father is at fault” “ sir, I know, he made a great mistake for ignoring the agreement he made with last Donald and he has nothing to justify himself” “ well, I have heard what you said but I still don’t know what you want me to do” “sir, I am aware that apart from his grandfather, you are the closest person he call family, so I was hoping you could help me talk him out of this and we can put an end to what ever that happened and ……….” “ you should know that Ethan is a man of his own, he makes his decisions” he said interrupting her, she wasn’t going to back out now not when she is so close “ yes I know sir, but yet there is someone that he listens to” she said looking straight into senator Philip eyes, both of them glared at each other for some time before senator Philip broke the glared, he thought for sometime before opening his mouth “ you are one determined lady, I won’t ask you how you got the information regarding the fate that Ethan does listen to me and respect me a lot, but I will tell you to stop digging into his private life, he won’t like that and I too won’t” he said nonchalantly, even if he sounded calm, Nadia knew that was a warning and she thank God for him not asking where she got the information from, she wouldn’t dare to sell Richard out, but she tried not to show any fear, and tried to put away anything that will give her away. “ has he taken full ownership of the company and other properties of your father?” “ no sir, we were given a month to prepare, but due to my father illness, we haven’t done anything, sir I am not just speaking and pleading just for my self and my family but also for the workers of my father, many of them will go jobless and they are the bread winner of their families, please, help me, even if you don’t want to then help the children of those workers please”, she pleased with him, she don’t know but she felt broken, she was using all her will not to share a tear in present of him, Senator Philip also took note of this and the sincerity in her voice, he was amazed to see such lady. Senator Philip knew about the issue that was going on between Ethan and Mr William, from when it started to now, he wasn’t shying on Ethan but he has close eyes on him, he was a son to him and he was doing everything to make sure he is always safe, so his eyes are always on him, He has never got involve in the business of Ethan because Ethan has already proven himself to him that he was capable of running his business without fear, and he was proud of him, but on seeing and hearing from the young lady sitting opposite him right now, he don’t know why he feel like helping. “ I can gave out my help in talking to him and like you said he does listen to me” Nadia face light up immediately she heard him. “ but” senator Philip continues “ you will have to do something for me” The joy hasn’t left her face, she knew there will be conditions but she was ready for it as far as it has nothing to do with marrying Ethan, she will do it “ yes sir” Senator Philip observed her for sometime, he wanted to make sure that he was helping the right person, she has to prove to him that she is worth helping and prove also about the words he has heard about her from his shy. “ you will do one thing for me” he pause again to observe her, with the way he was delaying his words, Nadia knew something was up “ you will spent one night with me then I can and will help you” Nadia face grew pale, there was silence in the sitting, the only sound Nadia could hear is the numerous voices ringing in her head, she just can’t put together what he meant by spending the night with him, maybe he wants her help with something or or….. “ please make me understand by spending the night with you” she drawled out “ come on, you are not a kid, are you?” he asked smiling That did it, she was right, he wants to have sex with her, she breathe in deeply to clam her nerves, she didn’t want to sound rude to him because he was seriously, if not mistakly her father age group. “ I don’t expect you to answer me now” Senator Philip told her, he has noticed the reaction of Nadia but can’t understand it. Nadia got up quietly avoiding eye contact with him “ I thank you for having me sir, I will take me leave now” “ of course, call me tomorrow for your answer” Nadia didn’t reply him as she made her way out of the house and out of the building, she got into her car and drove off, her mind was in fast mood as so many things was going round her head, when she couldn’t hold it any more she parked her car, holding the car wheel she scream at the top of her voice immediately bursting in cry, Why will he ask her that?, Did she look that desperate to him that she will run into his bed?, She has never been embarrassed the way she was today, She felt stupid, He must has look at her like some cheat slut for him to make such request As she continues to think of these things she cried more, she cried for her family, for the employers that will lose their jobs, she cried because she felt useless, she cried because she let her parents down, she should be able to solve this, she help others with their problems, why was hers difficult, she continues to blame herself as she cried more in the closure of her car. ***************** Oh God I feel like crying.... Nadia and Ethan (Marriage contract gone wrong) . Sequence 18 . Written by Joy Osamudiamen . So sorry guys for the late post, I know I promised one sequence each day, but things always come up that takes my time, so please forgive me, God bless . Continues.. Nadia didn’t know how long she spent in her car but when she opened her eyes the sun was almost setting, she has fell asleep due to much crying, she was first confused seeing herself in her car but later everything started to come back to her, it breaks her heart thinking about that incident, her eyes was about to get watered again but she pulled them back, this wasn’t the time to cry, she has to think of something to do. The ringing of her phone penetrated through her thoughts bringing her out of her trance, she quickly opened her bag searching for her phone that she found after some time, but the call has already ended. She opened her call log and found 27 missed calls, 11 from her mother, 2 from Richard, and the others from some of her friends, she signs tiredly as she called her mother who picked at the first ring, she must have be worried and expecting her call. And to prove her right, Elena worried voice came through the phone. “ Nadia, whereareyou?, howareyou?, areyousafe?, didsomethingbadhappened?, whyWeren’tyoupickingyourcalls?,” she slurred “mother, woah” she chuckled, “relax mum, one question at a time and slowly this time” Elena from the other end seems to calm down a little “ okey, where are you”, you said you will be here before dinner and yet you aren’t, the sky is getting dark and you got me worried by not picking yours calls”, there was still a pitch of worry in her voice Exhaling lightly, “ I am inside my car”, she said to answer her first question, then she continued, “I slept off inside my car, and I am fine, you don’t need to worry”, “ why will you sleep inside your car?, Nadia are you really alright?”, she was confused, something must have happened for her to have slept inside her car. Nadia was not ready to tell her mother what was going on, she got a lot to worry about now and she wasn’t going to add hers to it. “ mum, nothing is wrong, after visiting my friends, I was coming back but there was a huge traffic and I was so tired that was why I decided to have some rest inside my car, not on the road okey, I parked somewhere, but am on my way now” “ are you sure you are telling the truth” “ yea, I am”, there was silent at the other end, she prays her mother doesn’t see through her lies, “ okey if you say so, the most important thing is to know you are safe, I will be expecting you home soon” She knew her mother wasn’t conceived but think God she allowed it to pass “ alright mum” With that the line went dead, she dropped her phone back inside her bag, she was going to call Richard and her other friends once she gets home, she starts her car and headed home, not wanting to think about anything but to being at home with her family, that matters now. Getting home she went straight to her room, not wanting her mother to see her as she knew her eyes must be swollen due to the tears that has been pouring out from there, she try not to remember the event that took place that has caused her to cry because she won’t want to cry again attracting the attention of her mother, she has a lot on her plate and wouldn’t want to add to it. After taking her bath, she came down stair when dinner was served, she tried so much to put in her best smile and a relax expression in the presence of her parents who didn’t notice the pain that is hidden behind her smiles, once in a while she could gales at her parents, mostly her father, she doesn’t know what she will do if anything happens to them but as the thoughts came she quickly push them away, as she don’t want to think about it. She returned to her room after wishing her parents a lovely night rest, she began calling the few friends that have given her missed calls, after talking to about four of her friends, she called Richard, she didn’t want to call him at first but she knew she has to give him update about what happened, maybe he can find another alternative in the situation. Richard picked after the fourth ring. “ hello, so sorry, I was doing other things and didn’t hear my phone ringing in time” Came Richard voice. “ no problem” “ so how did it go?, did both of you talked?” “ well, we did” she drawl “ what is it?”, he asked noticing the uncertainness in her voice “ I won’t say everything is fine, because it didn’t go well” she answered sadly “ tell me what happened” “Well” and she went on telling him everything that had happened with Richard interrupting her once in a while to express his shock. “ no there must be a mistake” Richard said as soon as she ended, “mistake?” she asked confused There were silent in the other end as Richard was thinking “ Senator Philip is not the type of man that sleeps with his daughter age mate, yes he is a politician but he doesn’t, I have overheard Mr Donald praising him for that, that was one of the things that makes Mr Donald to have high respect for him” “ so?” she asked still confuse, if he doesn’t go out with young girls than why will he ask her to sleep with him. “ yes” Richard exclaim bringing Nadia out of her thoughts “ he is testing you” “ what?” “ yes, this might be a test” Nadia just believe what she is hearing, Senator Philip testing her, why… “ and what if its not?” “ I know it is, and we are going to find out tomorrow, you will call him as he said you should, give him your answer which I already know is a big no and see how he takes it okey” “ are you sure about this?" “ not really but let’s give it a try” “ if you say so, I will call him tomorrow, thanks, I was already going out of my mind” Nadia could hear him laughing from his end “ well, I will too if I was in your shoes, just relax, by tomorrow we will know what next to do “ alright, we will talk tomorrow then” After wishing each other good night they ended the call. SENATOR PHILIP RESIDENT Ethan came down from his car after the driver has parked just front of senator Philip front door, he was less busy today so he decided to come visit him, he has been given another PA who he also sacked, they all are just incompetent the way he puts it, the front door was open as soon as he rang the door bell, he entered not replying to the greeting of the maid that opened the door. Senator Philip face lights up immediately he saw Ethan, he wasn’t expecting him to show up today. “ good afternoon Uncle” Ethan greeted bowing his head in respect, Uncle was the name he always calls him when they are alone, they both agreed to it because most of Senator’s friend were using it to gain favour from him and he just didn’t like that also with the Senator, so when they are in public he is to refer to him as Sir. Because of this most people don’t know the relationship between them. “ come now boy” he gesture him to sit opposite him with a smile on his face. “ wasn’t expecting you to come today” “ I am less busy" “ I understand, you left very early the other day after the party” “ yes uncle, I did, I had a lot to take care of so I had to leave early”, he explained himself not wanting to tell him about him sacking Richard. They both went on to discuss about other things, mostly about business, it has been long that they have had a long conversation, and Senator Philip was missing this. Even though Ethan was not his son, he was fond of him, because they have a lot in common. They were still talking when senator Philip's phone began to ring, he picked the phone to see that it was Nadia that was call, he smiled, he didn’t expect Nadia to call back, maybe what he heard about her was wrong, she is indeed desperate to get back her father’s company. “ please excuse me I need to take this call” he said to Ethan who nodded in understanding “ hello, didn’t expect you to call” he said once he picked the call Nadia exhale heavily which didn’t pass senator Philip unnoticed “ yes sir, I called because I get it that you might be waiting for my call since you told me to call back today” She is right, he did told her to call, “ well, have you thought about what we talked about yesterday?” He asked not wasting time “ yes I did” “ and?” “ I really want to help my father and of course bring the company up to it’s former glory, but” she hesitated before she continued again summoning courage, “ I can’t do it by selling my dignity, I want your help so badly but I can’t sleep with you, am sorry sir for disturbing you with my problems, I will find another way out, thank you once again” A small smile crawl upon his face, you had wrongly judged her “ if you are not busy, I will like you to come to my house” “ sir, I can’t do what….”, she was saying but was interrupted by him, “ I would love you to meet someone, the person is sited with me now,” Ethan snapped his head toward him in confusion,. Nadia contemplated on what he said, is he being real now or is it a trick to lure her to him, but the word of Richard rang in her head, so she made a decision “ I will be there in 30 minutes" “ alright then, see you in 30 minutes” With that the called ended. “ who was that?”, asked Ethan as senator Philip dropped his phone “ oh, just someone that want to do business, she just need a little help and I think you are in the right position to help her” he lied, but not fully, he just didn’t want Ethan to know who was paying him a visit, since Ethan was there with him it will be better both of them meet so he could know what and how to interfere. “ a she? “ asked Ethan surprisingly “ yes a she, now back to our discussion” In no time Nadia was out on her way to Senator Philip's house, she wasn’t sure if she was making the right decision to go to his house alone to see him after what he requested from her, he might be up to something so that’s why she wrote a very short letter indicating where she is headed to and why she is going there, she gave the letter to one of the maid with the instruction that if she doesn’t return, she should hand over the letter to her mother, but she is to do it if she doesn’t return before the end of that day. Her mother wasn’t around, she went took her father to the hospital for check up, so her parents don’t know where she is heading to and she doesn’t know if she is going to come back unharmed but she is going to trust the word of Richard, that all this might be a test. Nadia and Ethan (Marriage contract gone wrong) . Sequence 19 . Written by Joy Osamudiamen So sorry this is coming late. . Continues.. She arrived at Senator Philip’s house, as usual she parked outside the front gate, the gate was opened for her and not like the other day she was immediately allowed in without question, she walked to the front door with all the courage she could gather to herself, upon getting there she rang the door bell, she tried to clam her nerves as it was taking control over her, the door opened by the same maid from last time, just as before she was smiling opening the door to let her in. Nadia walked towards the sitting room, the maid not going with her, it wasn’t a problem as she knew the way to the sitting room, as she drew closer the voices of two people was heard, she knew one belongs to Senator Philip but the other sounded familiar, not minding this she walked into the room only to stop in her track as she saw Ethan. Ethan has tried to excuse himself, promising to come visit some other time but was always held back by Senator Philip, he knew he didn’t want him to go as whoever that is coming needed his help but he too needs to get to work, after trying some many times to leave but fail, he decided to wait for who ever Senator Philip wants him to meet but what he didn’t expect was to see Nadia standing in the sitting room with a confuse or shock look on her face. “what are you doing here?” He voiced out even before he could stop himself, this wasn’t his house so he really didn’t have any right to question her but still his curiosity was getting the better part of him. “sir, what is she doing here?” He asked again but this time to Senator Philip who has a warm smile on him face. “come on Nadia, come sit”, he gesture for her to sit, she hesitantly walked to one of the couch that is just opposite Senator Philip making her to sit at the right hand side of Ethan. Ethan eyes burn through her skin as she sits quietly in her seat. There is a strong tension in the sitting room as no one said a word, Nadia was trying so hard not to grow cold feet, she wasn’t expecting to see Ethan here, she has prepared her self for the worst but this in nothing like worst, this is a suicide mission, what was he thinking that he could invite both her and Ethan to meet, she asked him to help but not this way. Ethan on the other hand was angry but because he was in the presence of his uncle, Senator Philip, he tried to control his anger, he doesn’t know why, he loves to see her and hates it at the same time, the way she rejected him was still fresh in his memory and to make things worst she just keep showing up, he already knew that what ever brought her here was because of her father’s company, she really did it this time, coming to his godfather for help, but what was more bothering him was how she knew about Senator Philip. Senator was enjoying the tension in the room, he knew it will be like this the moment he invited Nadia over, he hasn’t really expected Nadia to decline his offer, he was proud of her, not everyone will be in her position and still want to keep her dignity, so when the call came in, seeing Ethan was there he decided quickly to allow both talk things out. It will be better that way. “forgive my manners, I didn’t offer you anything, what will you like?”, Senator Philip asked Nadia who looked up at Senator Philip forcing out a smile. “there is no problem Sir, I am fine” she replied him quietly, she has been nervous since she saw Ethan, she didn’t know if it was out of fear, she doesn’t get intimidated by anyone so easily, but when it comes to Ethan, there is something that make her want to submit to him presence. “no way, you are a guest in my house, you should take something”, with that he called the maid who later brought some juice drink for Nadia. No one has said a word since the maid left after offering Nadia the glass of juice, and Nadia too hasn’t touched it yet. “so, let’s get down to business”, said the senator breaking the silent in the room. “Ethan I believe you know the young lady that is sitting just close to you, and the reason he is here “ well I know her doesn’t mean I know why she is here” he answered with a little pitch of anger on his voice. “ then let us start again”, Senator Philip said, he knew Ethan was not happy seeing Nadia and he is being rude but it is something he was going to ignore. “ Nadia why don’t we start with you”. Nadia looked shock at this but quickly composed herself, she wouldn’t want to feel weak now. “ well, sir, like I told you already, Mr Donald here….” “ oh please just stop the formality and call him Ethan”, senator said interrupting her, she gales at Ethan who in turn gales at both her and Senator Philip in surprise to what he just heard. “ she dare not call be by that, only important people has that right, which I don’t think she is one” he said with anger still registered in his voice, he knows he was sounding rude but he doesn’t care, he just can’t seem to control his anger. Nadia can’t believe what she just heard him say, that was an indirect insult and he has no problem with that, she has been trying to ignore him out of fear but that did it…. She put away her fear facing him now to see him clearly looking at her. “ why do you always have a problem with me?” she asked not letting her annoyance control her. “ why do you keep digging into my life” he snapped at her “ ENOUGH” senator voice silent them. They both were behaving like kids and he doesn’t know but he seems to be enjoying this. “ Nadia please continue “ Nadia inhale sharply before continuing “ well like I was saying, my father took a loan from late Mr Donald ten years ago with the promise of paying back, which he couldn’t because of some financial problem that the company is going through, but nothing was heard about it until now when…. E.. than”, she said stressing his name, he called him by his name not wanting to offend senator Philip, “requested that the money should be paid and in full”, she continues, “ but due to my father financial status, he just can’t meet up, but we were able to come up with half amount of the money, promising to pay back the remaining half with time, but he refused stating a condition that was impossible”, she said hesitantly not wanting to say the next word out. “ a condition?”, Senator asked not knowing about any condition, his shy didn’t say anything about condition. Nadia looked at Ethan not sure if she could say it out but Ethan face held no emotion so she turns her face back to the Senator. “ he want me to marry him, only then will he agree with what we said” Senator snapped his head to Ethan in shock, he didn’t see this one coming, Ethan was unmoved so he conclude that she was saying the truth. “ and you refused?” “ yes sir, I did refuse him, now my father has about two weeks to release the document to his company and of course, some of his other properties, due to this he had a heart attack which we are still taking care of him now, that company is his life, he might not live if its taking away from him”, she said pleaded Now he understands the reason for Ethan anger, Ethan was angry at Nadia for refusing him, he wasn’t good at getting refused, and he hate the thought of it because it brings bad memories , but what he don’t seem to understand was why Ethan will want to marry her for a little amount of money, for all he knows, Ethan wasn’t one to be serious in a relationship and marriage was out of the question. “ can you give me a minute with my him?” “ of course sir” With this Senator Philip got up signaling Ethan to follow him which he did without question but not before throwing Nadia a bad gales. “ marriage?, Ethan”, he asked as soon as they were alone in the other sitting room. Elena snapped her head toward the direction where she felt the presence of someone only to see her daughter, she felt relieved and at the same time burst into more tears, Nadia not baring to see her mother looking so valuable rushed to her and warped her hands around her as she too relieved the tears she has been trying so hard to hold. They stayed like that for a long time before they both disengage, Nadia head shifted to her father who is lying unconsciously on the hospital bed, he looked so pale, how can a man that was so healthy be reduce to this, she let her tear fall freely from my eyes, not bothering of wiping them, they were both lost in our own thoughts just staring at him. Then suddenly her father began to shake violently, they both spring up to their feet, they were confused on what was happening, her mother rest her head on his chest, rounding her arms around him as she tried to settle him, she was crying uncontrollably now, Nadia rush out of the room to get the doctor, who rushed in with her followed with two nurses, one of the nurses rushed to her mother taking her away from her father chest to give room for the doctor, her mother stood just close to her, Nadia eyes held fear as she gaze upon her father who has stopped moving, she prayed silently, the doctor stopped what he was doing as he faced both of them, her held a sorrowful expression on his face not knowing how to break the news, he has tried his best but nothing would have been done. “ is he okey now?”, asked Nadia who wasn’t patient to wait for the doctor to say something, Nadia saw the look on his face but choose not to believe what that looks means, she doesn’t want to believe it, she fears for the outcome, the doctor shook his head in sorrow, only that did pass the message as all hell was let loose, as the mother collapsed on he ground crying and shouting while the nurse tries to clam her down. Nadia and Ethan (Marriage contract gone wrong) . Sequence 20 . Written by; Joy Osamudiamen . So sorry for the late post, too much of things on my plate, lost someone so dear to me, May his soul rest in peace. **†********†****** . Continues from last Sequence.. Nadia woke up panting heavily, she put her right hand on her chest as she tries to stop her beating heart, she just can’t believe she just had a nightmare, she looked at the alarm clock that is on the night stand, it was past 7am, she haven’t dreamt about Ethan today but about her father, and it wasn’t a good one. And it felt so real to her, she immediately took her Bible that was close to her, she needed to pray, she just can’t believe that her dream could happen in reality, she wouldn’t live with herself if anything happens to her father. She was just about to get on her knees when a knock came on her door. “ yes come in the door isn’t lock”, she said to who ever was knocking. One of the maid opened the door quickly with a worried look on her face. “ Good morning ma’am, your mother is calling you down stair” noticing the worries on the maid face and in her voice she became alert “ what is it?” “ I think is your father, he just collapsed not long ago” “ WHAT?”, That brought her on her feet as she rushed passed the maid who ran behind her, she was so scared now fearing that her dream was about to come to pass, she prayed for God to keep her father alive as she ran to the sitting room. *************************** Waiting impatiently at the reception hall of the hospital was one of the longest wait she has ever done,, he mother was sited on one of the chairs there, she has been quiet even since her husband was rolled inside the hospital that Nadia was beginning to get worried for her, she has been silently praying to God for the life of her father. She couldn’t tell how she felt when she arrived at the sitting room and found her father on the floor, her mother and the security was trying to lift him up, she just pray she doesn’t experience more than that pain, she has managed to run back to her room and changed into a blue jean and a top before driving to the hospital behind her mother and her unconscious father who was drove by her father driver and one security with one of her father’s car. As soon as they got to the hospital her father was quickly rolled inside to be attended to as the doctor was their family doctor and her mother has earlier called to inform the doctor of their arrival, so it has been am hour now and they are still waiting for him to come and tell them how serious was his illness. Her mother has earlier told her that her father collapsed after reading a mail that was sent to his email that morning which says that Ethan will be claiming ownership of his company in two days time, her mother has managed to read the message so she was able to tell. Her father even when he is sick didn’t stop to work at home, still looking for a way to clear the bills before the end date, she guess he didn’t have much time left. She felt so weak, how was she going to help now?, now that time was not on her side. The presence of the doctor got both of them on their feet’s as they rushed to him, both blasting him with questions. “ calm down please, he is fine now” Nadia exhale lightly as she calmed down a little, as least her father was fine, she had feared for the worst, and her dream didn’t help matters. “ but” the doctor continued, gaining their attention again, “ we can’t tell if his heart will be able to hold another attack” “ what do you mean?” asked Elena “ I mean that he will die if another attack comes, so we all have to be carful, but for now he is stable And you can go see him” “ thank you doctor” Elena showed her appreciation “ we thank thy Lord” with that he left. “ come on let go see your father” Her mother said to her, bringing her back from her stance, she has been lost in thought ever since the doctor spoke about the father death that made her wander to her dream, that was a revelation she hope that won’t come true and she knows what to do to prevent it. “ mother you go, I will join you shortly” “ are you sure” “ yes, just need some fresh air” “ okey” with that her mother went further into the hospital. Nadia made her way to her car, she lied to her mother about getting fresh air, she just can’t tell her of her new plan and decision, she has the responsibility to save her father and she will do just that, bringing the car engine to life she drove straight to Ethan company. ************************* Ethan has be boiling in rage for the past two days now and he has been putting all his anger on his workers, everyone as been trying so hard to avoid him, none want to be sacked or worst arrested, he was fond of either sacking you or leave you to spend some days in the police custody, nobody knows the reason for his anger even he doesn’t know, if it was for the fate that he is yet to see a suitable PA or the fate that he got a cold rejection from Nadia two days ago at Senator Philip's house and the worst of it is that senator was there to witness it. ********************* *Two days ago at Senator Philip’s resident.* Nadia has waited for some couple of minutes, she wonders what senator Philip wanted to discuss with Ethan in private, she just hope it could be in her benefit. Ethan and senator Philip engage from the private sitting room that they went to discuss, both took their seats. “ so sorry for keeping you waiting”, Senator Philip apologies, but of course nothing came out from Ethan, “ no problem sir” Nadia polity responded. Nadia focus was now on the senator that began talking already “ so, I have talk with Ethan, and he too has explained his own point to me and I will say he does have some points”, he pause “ but, with a little convincing, I made another condition in helping you with your problems” senator said calmly. Nadia knew they will be conditions, but she prays again that it will favor her. “ and what will that be sir”, She asked holding her breath as she wait for Senator to speak. “ he will forget all about the money, even the lawsuit, leaving nothing but” Nadia was happy to hear that, but she wasn’t going to put his hope up, Ethan narrowed his eyes on his Uncle, what the hell is he saying. “ you will have to marry him” “ WHAT?” Ethan blunt out “ yes” senator answered silenced him, he wonders what senator Philip was up to, he looked at Nadia whose face was pale due to shock. “ but sir, I can’t marry him” she voiced out after getting out from her shock. “ are you in a relationship?” She was taken aback at the question while Ethan waited for her answer, he doesn’t know but he was hoping for a negative answer. “ no, am not, but..” “ you know I should be the one talking here and refusing to accept this, I am the one that will be at lose, giving up such amount of money and for what?” Ethan said angrily, he just can’t see why she was claiming hard to get, he hates girls like that. “ I will not have you disrespect me” Nadia said feeling her anger raising up. “ disrespect, i haven’t disrespected you, disrespect is when I call you a whore, a bitch, a stupid spoilt child who thinks she can get what she want by just talking and not working for it” “ that’s enough”, she said standing up, she so which she has a very hot temper right now, it would have come in handy “ enough?”, Ethan stood up too, “who are you to tell me its enough when am talking, you should be blaming your incompetent father that couldn’t manage his father company that was passed on to him, oh yes, I know where he spent his money, on young girls”, he wasn’t stopping, his anger was having control over him now. “ that’s not true, my father is not like that”, with this she allowed the tears she has been trying to hold fall down her cheek, how could he talk to her father that way. “ of course, like father, like daughter, loose men and women runs in your family” he said with disgust Senator Philip head snapped at Ethan, he knew he was no longer referring to Nadia anymore, he is now talking out of hatred and he needed to stop him before he becomes uncontrollable. “ you are nothing but a arrogant, self esteem, a complete lunatic and a beast with a heart as ice, who cares only for himself, you have no feelings for anything, you think you are successful, but you are nothing and you will remain nothing,”, she shouted at him allowing more tear to blind her, senator Philip has his eyes widened with shock hearing Nadia words, Ethan just stood there as he take in all what she is saying, his anger arousing with the memories and the beast in him start coming to life. “ I will not marry you, I reject to marry a man that has no heart, it will be a curse to me if I think about it, it will be better if you stay away from me, I hate your stupid lonely dark life”, she finished her word panting heavily. “Take them back, I said TAKE THEM BACK NOW, TAKE ALL BACK”, right there he lost it, as he went for Nadia’s neck choking her. “ Ethan, Ethan,” senator rushed quickly to release his hold on Nadia neck, who was already finding it hard to breath, after much effort, Ethan released her, immediately Nadia began coughing taking in air, while senator Philip held on to Ethan calming him down. Ethan eyes was full of rage, the only thing he was thinking about was how he could get hold of Nadia so he could strangle her to death but of course his uncle was there, he wouldn’t want to disrespect him so he tried to calm himself down, but seeing Nadia was difficult for him to do so as the words Nadia has said were still fresh in him memory, he gave Nadia one last angry look before storming out of the sitting room towards the bar room, he needed to cool him anger down so maybe a strong drink will help with that. As soon as Ethan left Senator Philip turned to Nadia with a worried look on him face, Nadia on the other hand was still catching her breath, her hand still on her neck, gently rubbing it to stop the itchiness it was given her, she was still shaken for what just happened, if not for Senator Philip she could have been dead now. Ethan was not a beast or a monster, he was the devil himself, she thought to her herself. “ are you alright?” asked Senator Philip trying to inspect her neck “ am fine sir”. she choked on her words as a cough came out from her mouth. “ you don’t look fine to me, you should go home and get some rest okey, you need it” “ sir, please, can’t there be any other way to solve this”, she asked after finding her voice. Senator Philip gave her an apologetic look, he ready want to help but this was something he can’t do, the money has been on hold for too long, the money might be little to Ethan but it was important to him, that was the hard work of his grandfather so it won’t let it slide, not to make matters worse, Nadia had to anger him, there is no forgiveness in that, says the book of Ethan. Nadia sign in defeat, how was she going to make this work, she obviously can’t marry Ethan not with what just happened here, but still she wasn’t going to just accept defeat, no way, she will look for another way. “ thank you so much sir, for trying to help, I will take my leave now” Senator Philip nodded, Nadia picked up her bag and walked out of the room but stopped at the sound of senator Philip voice. “ are you sure you don’t want to reconsider the offer?” She exhale lightly, she has thought it through and NO was her answer “ no sir” she answered him and turned as she walked out the door. ************************* *End of flashback Back at Ethan’s office.* He has waited for two days as Senator Philip has advised, senator Philip tried reasoning with him to forget about the money or better still give them time to pay back, but he has refused and that will be, if not the first time he was refusing him a request. Senator Philip didn’t fight it or got angry by it as he too saw reason with him instead, no one on earth can forget about such amount of money and beside, Mr William disrespected his grand father by not following the agreement he made, and that was the list of why he so much want to see they suffer, spearing no one. Now for two day he has waited hoping that Nadia will come back to take his offer but he guess that girl was very strong will minded, but never the less he knows how to break will minded people, to him this wasn’t just about some money or some companies, this was a game, and will win at it, he will show to Nadia that he was a better player, and he will make her submit to him, if he has to break all her bones to achieve this, he will and nothing will stop him. He has sent an email to Mr William's Account to remain him that he will be holding possession of his company soon, than the other company will follow, lastly will be the house, by then, Nadia will come running to him and he will so find pleasure in tormenting her just as she has tormented him. The ringing of his office line took him out of his thought, he picked it up and placed it on his ear. “Good afternoon sir,” came the voice of his personal secretary on the other end of the phone, he didn’t need to reply, she continued knowing he won’t say a word, “ the first floor front desk says a young lady is wishing to see you, her name is Nadia Williams, should I send her in?” “ yes”, was all he said and the line went dead, he placed the land line back as a evil smirk appeared on his face, his game was moving just fine. Nadia couldn’t think straight as she drove to Ethan’s company, she didn’t even know if she will meet him there but she hope and prays that she does. There was no traffic on the way so she got there in a short time, after successfully packing her car, getting down from there was now the problem, Was she ready for this? Is she ready to confront him after what he did? Her hand mad way to her neck as she gently rubbed her palm on it, she was grateful that it wasn’t itching her anymore and haven’t left any mark. She didn’t know what else to do even if she didn’t want to see him, she has no choice right now, “What if he kills you in there, non one will fine you, or even rape you, he will surely get away with it”. her mind barked at her, The thought of him raping her or doing something awful to her sent an adrenaline to her body, “ I can’t do this”, she said to herself, she quickly placed her hand back on the key and turning up the engine of her car to drive out. “ what about your father, is he not worth it” That along stopped her body from moving, she close my eyes as a slice tear fell from her eyes, “ am sorry father for not helping out, am sorry that you are in this state but I promise to not let you down, I won’t let you down father” With that say she stopped the car engine, wiping the tear from her eyes and fixing her hair, she walked out of her car, after successfully locking it she made her way to the reception hall. At first the receptionist didn’t want to let her in, Though it wasn’t the same girl she has met there twice, she was more nicer, she made Nadia to understand that it was impossible to get to Ethan without an appointment and yes she know that already, after much persuasion and pleading the receptionist decided to put a call through to the personal secretary to Ethan, she waited patiently for her to finish her call, Nadia was anxious as hell, what if he didn’t agree to see her then all her efforts coming here will be wasted but she was so surprised when she was allowed to go see him, which means he agreed to meet her, she was beyond happy that he wish to hear her out, that was a start for her that day, but still she can’t just seem to shake away the fear that was building inside of her as she makes her way to his door after of course passing the secretary who smiled warmly at her and of course she faked a smile to cover up her fear. Once in front of Ethan door she took her a deep breath before ringing the bell. She waited for a while but heard nothing, she was about to ring the doorbell again what a “ come in” can through the doorbell speaker, she jumped a little not expecting the voice but quickly recovered from her shock. Ethan was surprised to see her jump in shock for his voice, he was watching her through the CCTV video on his laptop, his intention was never to scare her but still it amazed him why she was always shifting moods, on minute she is tough and the next, she is as gentle as a newborn. After calming her racing heart even if she wasn’t successful in that part she opened the door summoning courage to support her already weak and scared heart, she opened the door and came face to face with Ethan who as always has no expression on his face leaning on his office desk with one leg crossing on the other as his two hand were ford across his chest, as always he was on suit. “ are you going to stand there all day?”, came the husky voice of Ethan She walked inside the office not closing the door. She totally forgot about that since her mind wasn’t there, she was contemplating on how to start. “are you not taught how to shut a door when you opened it?” He said with a raise eyebrows. Nadia getting back herself closed the door, before turning to face him again, she wouldn’t just control her fears and Ethan notice this, this made him laugh inwardly, this was what he wanted, her summiting to him. “ I was actually expecting you, I know you will badge in here after receiving the message, though I didn’t know it will be this fast” “ you sent the message, to my dad, personally”, She asked wanting to be sure, her voice was low but she knew he could still hear her, “ I wanted to remind your father of the deadline, won’t want to drag him out you know, that will be so embarrassing but not for me, in as much as I want to see that happen, I still have better things to do with my time”. “ do you know that my father is still sick?”, she asked with a cracking voice, she didn’t even know she was crying until she tasted the sweetness of her tear. “ how could you send him such mail, Do you know that he is in the hospital right now because of the mail you sent” “ I thought as much, that’s the reason you came this fast,” he said not moved by any of the words that Nadia said or her tears. “ please, don’t take my father away from me, he will die if you take that company from him, please, I beg you”, she bagged him not able to control the tear anymore. “ well, I thought you came here to give me another version of your insult, this is a new sight I really don’t have time for”, he say as he stood straight on his feet, “ I hate when women cried, mostly in my office, so why don’t you go and meet your dying father, he will need that tear”, he said motionless as he turned to make his way to his chair that was in the other side of the desk. The last word hit her like a bomb, the thought of her father dying sent a cold breeze through her, her father can’t die, no way, he just can’t, so without thinking she said the first thing that came out from her mouth, “ I will marry you”. . Hey guys so sorry this is coming so late, and I know I haven't been keeping my promise, it all still related to my previous reasons, I so much love to write and quickly complete this story my I have limited time, so I plead with you all should be patient with my. Nadia POV It’s been a week since I agreed to marry Ethan, I was shocked when the word left my mouth, I really can’t tell what went off in my head that moment, maybe it was the adrenaline in me, maybe the fear of my father’s death that made me agree to what he wanted at that moment, but now I just can’t tell if I really want to marry him, not that I regretted what I did because my father has started to get better ever since he was told by his manager that Ethan wasn’t going to seize his company anytime soon, the call came in few minute after I arrived at the hospital from Ethan’s office where I hesitantly signed a contracts, stating that I am to marry him in a month time, he later sent an email stating that because of my father health, he was giving my father a month to hand over the company to him by himself. That was just a cover up because I begged him to keep it a secret until my father gets better, I wasn’t ready to tell him I was getting marriage to his worst nightmare. One month wasn’t want I expected to be given to my father to get better but was what I needed at that moment, one month was all I got from him before the marriage preparation will begin, only then will he drop the case against my father. The past one week hasn’t be easy on me mostly with the questions my parents, especially my mother has been throwing at me regarding the sudden change of Ethan decision, I don’t know how they came about the suspicion, it wasn’t as if I was the one that past the message from Ethan to them, maybe it was my sudden disappearance from the hospital the day my father was rushed in and then immediately I appear the call came in. But still I couldn’t tell them what was happening, I know they will definitely be unhappy with me when the news comes out but it was the only way at that moment to get my father health back to normal, I was going to break the news to them once my father is discharged and that will be in three days time, since his health is now better than before I suppose he won’t have another heart attack when the news come to him. I parked my car at the car, stepping out I signed heavily feeling exhausted, it was just half past 6 and yet the weather is still very hot, I was just coming back from the hospital after some little work I went to do at my father’s company, since he has been in the hospital I have took it upon my self to help with the company, after all it will be mine someday hopefully not soon, I walk heading to my room responding to the greeting coming from the maids, all I need right now was a cool bath and my bed, I opened my door and went in, closing it gently I turn around and my eyes was wide open in surprise. “Surprise”, my two wonderful best friends shouted happily as I just stared at them not exactly believing my eyes, they both rush to me, clutching me in a hug, that I find myself having hard time breathing, “guys, I can’t breath”, I managed to say and they both immediately release me, they were both smiling warmly at me, waiting for me to say something but I just can’t fine the right word to say as I look at both of the wonderful people standing before me, I don’t know what happened but all my emotions that I have tried to buckle up inside my heart came rushing down, I didn’t know I was crying until a hand starts wiping my tear away. “ hey, what up, why are you crying?” “ did we do something wrong?” They both asked with their hands still warped around me, I could see the worried look on there face, this was one thing I love about them they are always concern about me, and I have missed it so much, I shook my head, “ nothing, really, I just miss you guys” “ ohhhh, come on now child, no more tear, mummy is here now okey” Becky said with her motherly tune, hugging me but not too tightly like before which I have also missed so much Becky was a few months older than me, and was a law student, she was dark in complexion and I must say it fits her perfectly, she was part of the reason flavour sang BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL, she was clam and calculative in nature, always the one that sees the unseen thing in every situation, that why she is studying law, she behaved mostly as the mother in our little group unlike Mike who always likes to annoy me in every given opportunity he sees. Mike was two years older than i and was studying medicine, he was the funny and the jovial one who always brings fun to our friendship, when you feel sad, Mike was the right person to meet but just as he is funny, don’t be mistaken, he does have a temper, and his also a big brother to I and Becky. I meet Becky and Mike in my junior secondary school days, then Mike was in senior, Mike and Becky are siblings, so it wasn’t long until I became close to Mike. Even when mike graduated and went to the university that didn’t break our friendship as we went to join him soon making us close again. Becky was the only one aware of my feeling towards her and have urge me to tell her but I just can’t do it, I know Nadia wasn’t into any man and wasn’t ready for a relationship, countless time I have tried to bring up topics relating to relationship but she was never interested, so I decided to keep my feelings to myself until I am sure she is ready for that, I wouldn’t want our friendship to be awkward if I tell her my feelings. I was already worried as to why she was crying but she put my heart to rest once she finally made it clear the reason for her tear and of course I have missed her too. I and my younger sister Becky just came back from Italy on a two month vacation that we went to, it was a family ritual we always do every once in a year just to make our family bond stronger, no friends, no phone and of course no Internet, just us, my parents, my younger brother and my two lovely sisters. so I or Becky couldn’t keep in touch with Nadia, it was always like that but still I miss her when am not around her. As I watch Nadia who was so busy with her cup of ice cream, as we all now sat down in the sitting room watching a movie on Netflix, a smile crawl on my face, I always love to see her smile, so that’s why I was still mad at the so called Ethan who has put her through a lot while I was away, I so wish I could punch his fucking face, I will be so delighted, I don’t know but I have this strong feeling that there was more to it and Nadia wasn’t telling the full story, but what ever it is I know with tine she will say it out as we hardly keep secrets from each other. ************************* Woah new characters just came up. ETHAN’S POV I sat in my office working on my laptop and writing in my notepad, it close to noon and I haven’t had much rest since I came to work in the morning not that I am complaining since am used to working none stop, but without a good PA I have to do most of the work myself, okey, I still haven’t found someone to replace Richard, damn, that gut was good at his job, I so want to call him back but my pride won’t just let me, hell no, I wasn’t going to call him, I haven’t called anyone back after they are fired and I will not start with him, don’t want anyone to think that they are irreplaceable in my life, I have lived like that before and won’t live like that again. So this is me doing the heavy work of both I and a PA, well I better do it myself then allowed those incompetents so called PA I have employed for the past weeks do it for me, I know I am not an easy going person but if they did their jobs well I won’t have to get angry or fired them, right?. The sound of the door opening told me that someone just entered my office and I really didn’t need to look up to know who it is, there was only one person that can come unannounced to my office even my in my home and that is Jack. “ I see you have lot of work to do”, I raise up my head seeing a smirk on his face, I know what that means, he was trying to mock me again, he has been doing so ever since I got Richard fired and it wasn’t really helping my predicament. “ and when I mean I lot, I seriously mean a lot” he continue glaring at the hips of files that I have on my desk. I ignored him going back to my work, “ you know you could just……”, “ oh come on” I exhale interrupting him since I already know what he was about to say, “ can you seriously drop the issue about Richard”, I removed my hand from my laptop keypad stopping my work, he really do know how to get my attention. “ what?” he shrugged with his eyebrow raise “ okey, you have all my attention, what do you want? and if you are hear for lunch, just fuck off cause am not in the mood “ I was really annoyed now, though I know he will never be moved by that and as usual, he shrugged not minding my annoyance. “ no you can continue with your work, there is no need going out for lunch when I already ordered lunch to be brought to your office” Did he just? “ who told you I am hungry?” “ me”, he raised his finger pointing at himself, “ I know you have been having a lot of work for the past few days and starving yourself too much, I as a good friend have let you be, refusing to bother you, but not anymore you are eating lunch”, he said with a stern face. “ in my office?” I asked in disbelief, Well not that I don’t eat lunch in my office I just don’t love the idea, I always does that when I have unlimited time to have lunch out and it has to be needed. “ well I figured that you will not want to leave your office”, he said leaning more onto the chair, I know there was seriously not point arguing with him, since he has already made up him mind to annoy me today. We both sat in silence as I went back to my work while he does what ever he love doing with his phone, they door bell distracted both us from what we were doing, as we both stared at the door. “well that must be our lunch”, with that he swing out from the chair and head to do the while I continue in my work. The lunch went well and I must confess the food tasted nice, my order was made just the way I like it but I wasn’t going to tell him I enjoyed the meal, wouldn’t want him to tease me with that. I close my laptop, wanting to rest a little after the lunch I just had, my secretary has come early to take away the leftovers, so we were just sitting down quietly as we allow our meal to settle in our system (stomach). Jack lean forward against my desk, with a devilish smile on him face, I raised my eyebrows at him wondering what he was now thinking in that dangerous mind of his, he places his phone on my desk as he lean forward, with a smirk on him face, he definitely have something up his sleeves. “ what?” I try not to sound curious, he was fond of joking around things am curious with and I wouldn’t want to get him something to joke about. “ nothing really”, he shrugged, with his elbows leaning against my desk gazing at me. “ you better say what you want to say, I know you want to” “well”, he raised from the desk resting on his chair, “ was wondering if we could go to the dawn today?, it been long we went there” The dawn was a big nightclub that was for the rich, where you are free to do what you like without being in trouble, it was a legal nightclub but with illegal things happening there but still it choose to be notice that everything was legal there, from the skippers, to the drugs dealer that give out drugs if you have are interested, even cocaine was approved there, and I will say even if everything in there wasn’t legal, it was so legal to the people that visit there. I and Jack usually go there to get laid, there are well trained professionals sex hawkers that you can be confident to laid with without the fear of contacting any sexual diseases. It was a place I love to huge out when am not busy. But……. not today. “ can’t men, have a lot to do”, which wasn’t entirely a lie, I do have a lot to do but that wasn’t the main reason why I didn’t want to go there, with the upcoming wedding I will…… might be holding in few days time, i won’t want to give the paparazzi a something to gossip about, The dawn is highly protected to safekeep the identity and status of their client from the social media but you couldn’t be more careful. With a frown face, “ come on, you have always been busy since I know you but you always find time to hangout there, so that is seriously not an excuse” he ford his arms under his chest resting on the chair. “ well for me it is”, I am not ready to tell him anything regarding Nadia and I for now, I haven’t told anyone about her visit and I intend to keep it that way until the marriage agreement is sealed, she asked for it to be a secret and to give her time to prepare which I did, she does really need the time, she looked so stressed the last time she came here, so I won’t want her to look that way in front of the camera when I will announce our engagement, ohhhh, she has no idea how I was so planning everything. “ are you being serious?” his gaze on me intensified trying to read me “ you can stop burning my flesh with your eyes”, I opened back my laptop to get to work, “I can’t go for now, you know I no longer have a competent PA that can help me with all this work, so I need all the time to myself to work” “ so how is that my concern”, he said uninterested, “ you were the one that love sacking people not me” he was annoyed, he took his phone mumbling to himself as he stood up with my eyes on him. “ are you leaving?” He sighed heavily and without a word he left my office, I really don’t know what his problem is, and I wasn’t really ready to ask him, as soon as the door close, I went back to my work. *************** NADIA POV Today is the day that my father is going to be discharged from the hospital, I am beyond happy that he is coming back home more healthy than before, I woke up early to prepare for his arrival, I was throwing a little welcome party for him, I didn’t invite much people, just Becky, Mike, Aunty Vivian and her husband, I really want to welcome him home after being away for three weeks, yes he has been in the hospital for good three week making it just a week before I start my wedding preparation, when ever I think about it I feel a disgust twist on my stomach but I just can’t back out from the agreement. Don’t want to find out what he might do if I refuse to marry him since he has keep his end of the agreement. “ please be careful with that” I called out to one of the maid that was carrying the glass bowl of stew, I stood just close to the dinner watching as they set the table, I have took my time to prepared all the meals that will be served today and of course with the help of the maid. “ you know that look isn’t suitable for you right” I turn my head to the voice of Becky who was just walking into the sitting room and a smile found it way to be my face. “ you made it” “ why won’t I” she said as she wrapped her arms around me in an hug which I gladly reciprocate. “you look stressed”, she pointed out in between the hug as she patted my back gently, I exhale lightly, I was stress no doubt, who wouldn’t be when I have a lot to thank about, I haven’t been having much sleep lately all thanks to Ethan who seems to find his way to my dream almost every night, but this time it’s a whole different dream but a little familiar to the pervious one, “ now come on let’s do something to relieve you and cheer you up” we both release the hug, she looked at me with a warm smile on my face but I can see the worries in her eyes, but I was thankful she didn’t ask any question, both she and Mike hasn’t ask anything even when they see my uneasiness, I was going to tell them the secret I am hiding from them after the party, they have the right to know, we walked in the direction of the dinner with her ahead of me “ what do we have here?”, she moved inspecting the meals that are place nicely on the table, there was a huge smile on her face so as mine, her being here with me was something I needed right now, I had called her to come help with the preparation and am happy she was just in time as there was so much to be done. The rest few hours went well as we all work together to make everything perfect, when the work was almost done I was dragged into my room by Becky to get dress, it was almost six pm when I finished dressing up, my parents will be on their way now and I had to be there to receive them. By the time I made my way downstairs, Aunty Vivian and her husband was already around, Mike was on his way, he will be running a little late due to the fate the he had something important to do for his father, i wasn’t bothered because i know he will definitely make it. Everything was set according to the way i wanted, I have put so much effort to make this happen so I wasn’t expecting anything lesser than this, i wanted this to be perfect as i didn’t know when i will have such dinner again with my friends and family, my family won’t want to have a friendly dinner with Ethan judging from the hatred they have for him but I wasn’t going to think about that now. My mother has called few minutes ago informing me that they were already close, so we all went outside to wait for them. The horn of a car got our attention, as we all have been discussing catching up on old times, a smile warm up to my face as I recognize the car that was driving inside the compound once the gate was opened, another car drove behind and of course I knew also who it belongs to. My smile grow ever wider knowing that all my love ones was here with me to welcome home my father so what could possibly go wrong. ****************** To be continued.. .
