God speaks to us in so many ways, but it only takes His grace and spirit of discernment to understand. I can never forget how God delivered my kids and I, on our way one fateful Sunday.
On the 26th day of April, 2015, my kids and I were travelling from Owerri (where my younger sister resided) to Umuahia. As soon as I paid our transport fares at ITC park, Owerri, my then baby of a year and two months started crying. I did everything I could to pacify her, but all were efforts in futility. Oh, I was almost losing it when one woman opted to help me carry her. The woman, being a mother rocked her, petted her, did all she could, but my baby continued being cranky.
When we got to Obowo, our bus suddenly lost control. I didn’t even know what was happening! I realized we were in danger when some people started shouting and praying. “Hmmmm, my God, is this how I’m going to die with my kids?”, I thought.
That wasn’t all… The road was one lane, a very narrow one at that…
A trailer was at our right hand side; oncoming vehicles on the left, Imo river was close by…
We intensified our prayers God, we reminded God of His promises, we asked Him for mercy, and God heard…
Suddenly, we saw ourselves through all those deadly obstacles, to a very safe distance where our bus stopped, and we alighted without a scratch!
Till today,it still remains a mystery.
Again, as soon as the we rushed out of the bus, my baby slept off. It never occurred to me that God was trying to speak to me through her, but mercy said no!!!!!
This incident taught me a lot of lessons, one of which is never to ignore a crying baby, and to pray against anything that could be making the baby. It might be God trying to minister to you…
May God’s mercy continue to speak for us, and may we be enabled to hear His voice at all times.
