The Super Eagles have moved three places up in the grading released by the world football ruling body, but remain 16th in Africa
Nigeria have moved up to the 67th position in the latest Fifa global rankings released on Thursday.
The Eagles remain the sixteenth ranked African side behind Algeria, Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire, Senegal, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Cameroon, Congo DR, Cape Verde, Mali, Congo, South Africa, Uganda and Guinea.
In July’s grading, the Super Eagles dropped nine places to 70th – their poorest drop in 2016.
The top twenty teams in the world remain unchanged owing to a quiet month of international football – which means that Argentina remain top, followed closely by Belgium, Colombia, Germany and Chile.
The next Fifa/Coca-Cola world ranking will be published on 15 September 2016.
