Oh how Nelson Mandela (RIP)
Looks down on us from above
With a face so sad and hurt
' i should have been a great example' he thinks,
And a great example he was,
But from above he wonders,
' how is it that after so long a time Africa still hates Africa?'
' why is it that Africans have not yet learned to love one another?'
Oh Africa grow up!
Learn to love and put away the hate,
Embrace freedom for it were purchased with blood,
Treasure it dearly and let your Children walk free with heads held high.
Always moving in circles without any progress,
Things never getting better but worse every passing day,
The African democracy at a great risk,
You vote out a dictator only to democratically elect another dictator,
You vote out a corrupt regime only to democratically vote in another corrupt regime.
From the ashes we rose,
Victors from the iron fist of the colonial Masters,
Having dreams for a great Africa,
An Africa rich in love, peace and happiness,
To shine in a darker world and become a beacon of hope to the lost,
We were on track
Headed the right direction
But we lost the way
And became like the animal farm story.
