*CHRISTIANA* I'm spooked and afraid of this trial. It has gotten to this stage that I have to be prayerful and watchful. The end is near and might come in anytime. This is such an imperilling situation that makes me sad, even annoyed at times. Should I say my parents were benighted or what? This is hilarious! They were still unrepentant after Richie spoke with them, they weren't impelled. It seems they did it on purpose. I'm nowfamiliar with Doctor Esther and Doctor Kate, they are my best friends after Stephanie. They've always told me to relax, all would be fine, they've been marvelous and interesting to be with. But, would all really be well? I can't give any guy my heart because I might die, and wouldn't want to cause him a broken or shattered heart. I hate seeing Stephanie up and doing just to keep me lively, I hate seeing tears in Richard's eyes, I hate it when there's no peace of mind just because of me, I also wish to be free like everyone! I wish to be free! I wish to be able to last for six months or beyond without being rushed to the hospital, I... I also.. want.. j... joy! ****** "There's no God!" Richard clouted the dressing mirror before him and kept his fist still on the shattered mirror that was left behind. He went down on his kneels and tears ran down his cheeks. Uche and Jay rushed into the room and met him on the floor. His left hand had started bleeding as he wept bitterly on his kneels. "This is too much for me to bear! It is!" He made a vehement outcry and laid on the floor. Uche and Jay stood close to each other and some steps away from Richard. The two gazed at each other continuously. They were becoming tired of Richard's rambunctiousness, it seemed his emotion had taken over him finally. "I don't like this, Richard. I don't!" Uche scowled. Richard raised his head slowly and fixed his eyes on Uche, just like a collector fixes his insect with formalin. "I don't like it likewise, I don't want this to happen too. The more I remember God, I get mad!" He snorted. "What on earth makes you run mad whenever you remember God? Do you know you're making me annoyed and even pissed off?" Jay spoke slowly. "Did I even mention God? Is there God at all? There's definitely no God! None!" He tried to push himself up but his left hand couldn't help. He fell back on the floor and swallowed. "God is wicked, that is if his existence is real." "Just because of this trial?" Uche smiled faintly and took few steps to him up. He helped him up while Jay was fixed on the same spot and watched them. "You are wrong, Uche." He said and struggled to gain a stand. He looked into his eyes for seconds and looked at his blood-stained hand then continued. "God is just partial." He said softly and closed his eyes as tears fell. "Richard, watch your mouth!" Jay rebuffed. Richard looked at Jay with a grimace and went on his kneels again. "This is so unbearable, it is so sad. I wonder how she's been managing, I fear death! She might die!" He burst into tears again. Jay then walked to Richard and ruffled his hair. "Stop this man, we have to get this wound treated now." He told him. Richard gave a soft chuckle and looked at his hand. "Why should it be protected? Let me die!" He shrieked. Uche sniggered. "Is this how you wish to die? You couldn't visit the kitchen to use a knife on yourself or even drink Dettol antiseptic, you should have perfected those ones before screaming." Richard was breathing heavily. He stood up and bit his lower lip. "It's time to ramble." He said as he made the move to walk out. Uche drew him back and looked into his eyes. "Let's get this laceration dressed and we then go to the club." "Club? Bar section? You know I don't follow you guys, you should know I hate drinking." He scoffed. "Just to drink away your sorrows, if you don't wish to drink, you should remain in the house. Don't make an aimless ramble on a winding course!" "In this house, I might do what you suggested earlier on. I think you guys can go, lock me up in the house." He smiled for some seconds and continued. "Don't worry, I won't die anyhow, I mean I won't die in a rough way. You will meet a neat and well dressed corpse in the living room." Jay laughed. "This guy still dey craze! E be like say you don dey drink the drink wey you talk say you no want?" Uche faced Jay. "Should we not go?" "Why won't we go? I've been sleepless throughout the week because I've not been able to set my eyes on the beautiful lady for seven days now." Richard hissed and walked into the bathroom to clean his hand and take a cold shower. Uche stood by the door, he wished he could monitor him more than that. He knew it had been tough on Richard, he had always felt for his sister who could die anytime. He took a deep breath and sat on Richard's bed when he discovered that he had just entered into the bathroom to bath, not to follow his deadly suggestions. If he were in his shoes, he might have done what he suggested so as to terminate his life soon. Really, of what importance is life when it cannot be lived gleefully? Richard had mostly been boisterous, was he really to be blamed? His enthusiasm had gone down the drain. He hardly smiled. A month wouldn't end without rushing Christiana to the hospital. It was irksome! It was very revolting! Richard had a strong aversion for it. He did mostly stare at his sister in the hospital bed and both would be weeping. It was such a jeopardizing situation. "Guys, go and get ready. I think I should follow you today." Richard said as he stepped out of the bathroom in towel. "You want to follow us?" Uche's eyes widened. "Yes, go and get dressed." He stared at him. Uche and Jay smiled. It was incredulous, wasn't it? They never knew Richie would concur. It was at least better for him that way, rather than meandering. The two dashed out of the room, it seemed the friday would be great. ---------------------- "Having two graduates is what I have always wanted, I thank God you guys concluded everything well." Davies smiled and sipped from the mist-covered glass of wine in his right hand. Pemisire plopped down the cushion and gave a long breath. "Dad! It wasn't an easy thing, all the same, a man's..." "-destiny" Pemisayo concluded it for her. She grinned as she shook her head wondering the kind of twin sister she had. Everyone knew her with those words- a man's destiny. Pemisayo rested her back on the chocolate- brown sofa with flared arms. Resting her back couldn't make her legs touch the the white terracotta tile in the living room which ties the interior to the exterior, practical and easy-to- clean type. She had to place her legs on the black glassy stool which was dazzling lustrous due to it's reflectivity, caused by the eye-dimming illumination from the wall sconces whose sources were concealed. The living room was a big one with an orange curtain round the windows and a 49inch LCD TV mounted to the wall, located about a foot below ceiling. It had two wall mounted shelves directly below the TV, two glass coffee tables with metal framing and two more lamps and leather recliner. As big as the house was, there was no derelict part in it. Pemisayo stared at her twin sister- Pemisire and beamed. She was clad in a black gown whose fabric was sequenced elegantly. She looked smart and beautiful in the dress. "Your nickname." She smiled. "It's the reality, if you guys don't know." She replied and licked her lower lip, she smiled and tweaked her nose. "A man's destiny will surely get him what it has in stock, either good or bad. I think the prayer should be - God should help us change anything bad in our destinies to good one." She added. "But in a man's destiny, there are some things that might look somewhat bad but they just look that way just to get the man to his or her promise land, they are good qualities." Davies chimed in as he dropped the wine glass on the stool before him and pressed his lips together. "Anyhow, I just know a man's destiny can't be changed." Pemisire sprung to her feet. "I guess I have to ease myself." She said as she dusted her skirt. As she stood, she was five feet, seven inches tall, dressed in a v-neck with an oval button which had a design of love on it. She wore a white skirt designed with flowers, the skirt had blue ruffles at the end and the flowers are light pink with yellow pollen. She also had a white belt at the middle which looked like strip. Pemisire was elegant and rich in glamour. If words could describe perfection, this would be it. She was not chunky, neither slim, 'average' could be the best word to use on her. "You and this english of yours... how do you guess you want to ease yourself?" Pemisayo chuckled. "I've been feeling ill at ease for a while, I think it's high time I urinated." She smiled and walked in. She walked slowly as she pressed buttons on her handheld until she flung the door open and yawned. It was late already, she was tired due to the stress she had that day. She had to dance with her friends at the get-together party for hours. After she had eased herself, she picked up her dairy and wrote something inside it. She sat on her Queen-sized soft-side bed and drooped the dairy on it. The room was a not too big, it had richly coloured tapestries on the wall, fuzzy black accent pillows with leopard and tiger rugs and a pink silk canopy. The room was painted pink, floor to ceiling with two shelves in it. One of the shelves had books of various types- novels, diaries and some other textbooks while the other was the home of DVDs. There were also one white acoustic guitar, a nylon guitar and an electric one that all inclined against the shelves. The room also had a flat panel television with two black speakers at the front. The dresser held the personal undergarments and unmentionable. The room had a centered traditional chandelier with a trasitional close- to-ceiling fixture that produced the basic illumination and created a welcoming atmosphere. The air conditioner and the window was blacked out. She sprawled on the bed when the door to her room screeched open. She dropped her phone and sat up. "Dad." She called and smiled chivalrously. Davies walked in with an attaché case which was a box-style case made of leather, scrunched over a hinged frame that opens into two compartments. "Daughter, I've come here because I think you can be trusted." He said and sat beside her. "Trust?" She repeated as she squinted her face. She wasn't sure of what trust meant at that particular time. She knew Lawrence- his friend whom he trusted so much, she wondered if he had been sold down the river by his friend, to make him come to her. Wasn't she to be trusted before? Since her mother died of cancer, Davies had no other person who he did confine in but Lawrence, was there any skirmish? "Yes." He smiled and dropped the attaché case on the floor. "Mart said he's going to die soon." He stopped abruptly and swooshed out a long breath. "He called me today and gave me this." He pointed his index finger at the attaché case on the floor and faced Pemisire. "Promise me you will keep this as a secret, even from your twin sister." He dimmed his eyes and looked more serious. "I... do Dad." She drawled. Her father's reaction was getting suspicious, what could be in the case that he kept from his friend and even Pemisayo? Though, Pemisire was an easy-going type, she did talk but wasn't a largiloquent type like her sister. All she did do was to admonish people concerning life, she was a serious and Godly lady. "Good." He smiled and continued as he picked up the case and placed it on his laps. "This attaché case contains Mart's classic documents. He said he insisted that he must be flown back to Nigeria because he was sure to die any moment and wouldn't want his business to collapse. This case contains everything that has to do with all he has all over the world." He was silent for a while before he opened the attaché case. "According to him, anyone who has this case with him or her is already like him already, a multi-billionaire. He has no child, neither a wife, not even a person to be trusted but me. He told me what he had written in his will, that anyone with the classic documents is entitled to everything he has on earth." Pemisire's eyes widened. For Davies to have the classic documents, they've sure have caught a big fish. Who didn't know Mart Foods all over Nigeria? It had various branches of the company in sixteen states in Nigeria and was a multi-billionaire. His real name was Michael Matthew and coined the name out of the latter. He had a food- processing companies, construction companies where various raw materials and finished products were been produced like- Mart noodles, Mart sugar, Mart rice and even Mart cement. "Dad." She called him softly. She was awed by the explanations her father had made and kept breathing heavily. She stared at him without blinking, it was a vital thing that her father just got. "Now, I'm not sure about my safety." He sniffled. "If anything happens to me, make sure you keep this case as a secret because I see danger on the way. Please Pemisire, know the kind of person you put your trust in, if possible don't trust anyone. I just got to know I've been confining in someone who do not wish me well. From all indications, Lawrence may attack me." "Dad, stop this joke! He's your friend now." "I got to know more about him today. He overheard everything Mart told me and when I left Mart's place, he kept staring at this attaché case with me. He looked annoyed and was portend. In case anything happens, make away with this case with your twin sister and keep your identity unleaked because every man on earth, even his lawyer would want to have these documents." It was eight years already that he had been working at the headquarters of Mart Foods with his best friend- Lawrence. He was a man in his late fifties and a cheerful type. Pemisire smiled. "Nothing can happen." "I pray so." He said and closed the attaché case. He handed it over to her and stood up. "I have to leave now so that your sister won't suspect anything." "But dad, this looks partial. You should have called her along." Pemisire stood carrying the case with her two hands. "It's not that I'm being paranoid to your sister, the fact that she's garrulous and I know you're reticent." He replied and walked out of the room. -------------- Richard walked into the bar- a dusky and dank place filled with best friends, lovers or maybe ex-lovers. As he walked in, he amalgamated the smell of drinks and various sweats that outraged his nostrils as he inhaled deeply. As he motioned further, his eyes were already adjusting to the imminent darkness. He turned his head and looked round, he could see seats that had been filled up. He walked with his friends to the empty barstroll in a corner where there were bright spots on the wall, illuminating faces and people in there. He could then see that it wasn't totally dark, it was his first time. "As usual." Jay said as he smiled at the bartender and sat down. "As usual?" Richard muttered under his breath and took his seat. He placed his wounded hand on the table and continued looking around the bar, it seemed someone was smoking there. He finally found the lady and shook his head. "I think meandering is far better than all these things." He tapped Uche as he spoke. "Abeg oh, Richard! Why would you meander? Let's drink and return home, this is the only way you can forget things easily." "Really? Drinking? All about forgetting all the bad things, right?" He smiled faintly. "Yes, it will wash down your worries." Jay cooed. Richard smiled faintly. "Red wine." He told Jay. "And, what's your usual?" He asked. Jay grinned. "You know say you be small boy, I take gin and tonic." "He's new in the game.." Uche chimed in, smiling. "Anyhow." He hissed faintly and smiled. As he smiled, he looked down and started thinking again. He was muttering in a way no one would hear him, wondering if God really existed. If he did, why would he give some people long life and even prosperity and on the other hand, give some people a short time to live on earth. It was pestiferous! Some people would be filled with mirth, while other people lachyrmose. He was in a flurry state. He was melancholic. It was usually a thing of great fear whenever he remembered his sister- Christina as an anemic patient. He had heard many people who did eventually die after all the struggles and pains. He had always asked himself if Christiana wouldn't end hers in the grave. He had head of testimonies likewise, he had heard people who scraped through and made it, but they've just been ten out of a thousand! Would Christiana be part of those that would scrape through it? He didn't know he had started crying again until he was tapped by Uche. He then raised his head and wiped his tears. He had been served the wine then and his friends had started drinking. "A skunk can't bite and give off it's scent at a time! Either you drink or be depressed! For God's sake your sister is still alive, she's not dead. You should be happy concerning that, if she sees you like this do you expect her to be happy? You'll even make her sadder because all she's going to be thinking of would be death! Man, be serious!" Richard sighed. "I believe all is well." He said and started drinking. They were the three young guys that worked with Maverick Company and had been friends since their tertiary education. The three were employed into the big company and decided to live together. --------------- ....a man's destiny... Temitope Daniel Abimbola

Episode 2 So how's Debbie?" Uche asked Richard. Richard stroked his beard. "We broke up." He hissed and picked up his drink again. "You broke up?" Uche asked again, this time surprised. He kept his eyes on the overwhelmed Richard and shook his head continuously. "This will be the third lady... I don't even know, I think fourth." He tried to remember as he closed his eyes. "Yeah.. four of them." He surmised. Richard chuckled softly. "They've been frustrating." He said as he stared at Jay who discussed with the female bartender. "I don't think you still follow your popular heuristic rule, this is annoying! When will you settle down? Guy, don't let your sister's health turn you to something else!" "I don't think they have true love for me." He smiled faintly and drank from the cup. "Is it that they don't have true love for you or that you an unrequited love for them? Guy, wake up!" "I love them, they've always tried to be rivals between my sister and I." "You should be optimistic concerning your sister, don't think otherwise. Try to calm yourself down, life is not a bed of roses, I have my own problem too." Uche said passionately. "Yes, you do! You're even wrong, you were meant to say that you have your problems too, oral diarrhea that won't make you keep shut!" He hissed. Uche was tight-lipped for a moment as he stared at him. "You still have a lot to work on, your sense of humor is really.. I don't know!" Richard laughed. "You won't know. I love my sister, I love Christie, she's my life." "It's not your fault." Uche started drinking. Richard swallowed. "It's my parents' fault! If the didn't marry each other, would they put my sister in such a menacing situation? I wonder what brought them together, I wonder why they deliberately married just to make themselves happy and make us unhappy. It's sad." He placed his head on his hands as he started weeping again. Christina was all he had. To him, she was the best sister in the world. She had a bad state of health because she was anemic, hardly would there be a month that she wouldn't be rushed to the hospital. He had fought his parents because they got married to ruin their joy, he had been an unhappy guy since his sister's sickness got worse. He wasn't chirpy any longer, he had developed hatred for ladies because they always caution him to take things easy. He'd say- they don't have true love, if they did, they would cater for his sister. "Guy!We aren't at home oh, we are in the public." Uche said softly as he tapped him. Richard wiped his tears and raised head again. "One thing about me is that I can't keep my characters for a lady. I love my sister, fine! If she loves me, she's going to stay and if she doesn't, let her go!" "Alright, that is if you've not been bad to these ladies." "If they see it as a bad thing, fine! I've always tried to clear my conscience, you know I'm guileless." He said and continued drinking. "Alright... alright." Uche gave an awkward grin and squinted his face. Richard and Christina were like two peas in a pod. ******* As Pemisire kept the attaché case under her soft-side bed, she rushed because her sister might walk in. After getting it done, she smiled and sat again. She picked up her diary and wrote inside, perhaps she might have written what just happened inside it. After she did that, she discovered she just made a big mistake. What if her diary was found? She nodded continuously, "I have to be very watchful." She picked up her mobile phone and called her best friend- Helen. She felt it was a while she heard her voice. After the call, she picked up her acoustic guitar and sat again. She was a music composer and had a lot of songs composed. She loved playing guitar anytime, it looked as if it did wash her worries down. Sometimes she remembered her mother, the guitar would be her best friend, to keep her lively. As she played, she moved her head slowly with the rhythm of the song she sang along. She was filled with mirth. Her soul was lifted as she sang with passion. It was her life, as her twin sister liked to write stories. Both were extremely blessed with talents. After she played for some minutes, she dropped it back and darted out of the room. She went to the kitchen to prepare herself something. She couldn't eat at the get- together party like her sister did and was famished already. She was in the kitchen when the doorbell chimed. "Who's this person? This night?" She asked herself calmly as she leaned against the refinished oak cabinet. The kitchen was a big one with a ceramic tiles, it had an open plan with a refinished oak cabinet and pane style cabinet doors. Stainless steel cookers which had at least five tops, a black dishwasher, a microwave which was near the white deep fryer plugged to the wall and sink which had a window over it, covered with a floral curtain. It had a rack for the utensils and brushed stainless appliances. She tried to peep and saw two guys that walked in. "Who are these ones?" She asked herself as she gazed at them. The guys sat down freely, smiling as they admired the house. "I think trouble is brewing." She said as she took in a long breath and exhaled deeply. Pemisayo locked up the door and decided to leave the living room for the visitors when she was called back by the guys, to have her seat. One of them started the discussion with a buirdly voice. "I learnt you are three inside this house, where's the last lady?" Davies was getting terrified as he stared at them. To him, they didn't look armed but if they weren't, they wouldn't come in just like that. The approach looked affrightening. There was silence for a while. Pemisire had stopped peeking, her heartbeat had increased as she left the place she stood. Her father had said it, it seemed they came for the classic documents already. What would she do? Run away? She wasn't certain, she wasn't sure of what to be done. She could maneuver her way into the room, but if she ran away, what of her father and her twin sister? She was now ill at ease properly, thinking on what to do. She had left her phone inside the room, and did that even matter then? What mattered was the safety of the three and the classic documents! She thought and peeped again. The earlier, the better. She walked stealthily across the dinning room. It was Pemisayo that saw her as she tiptoed inside the house, the guys sat backing the dining room where Pemisire walked through. She had to do everything with ease, it looked as if they were desperate to get her. She opened the door to her room gently and got hold of the attaché case when she heard the roaring voices of the guys from where she was. She looked around the room to reach her phone but couldn't find it. She must have left it in the kitchen, thinking she left the room without it earlier. She had started panicking as she held on to the case firmly. What would she do? She summoned courage and walked out of the room quietly so she could hear what the discussion was all about. "Get me the last lady!" She heard vividly. She was in the bigger sitting room that was upstairs then. Should she descend the stairs? She was antsy and confused already. Or has it been known that she was with the classic documents already? The documents every man would want to have. She heard the shout of her twin sister and the attaché case fell from her hands due to the fear. "Someone is still in this house, go and get her." One of the guys addressed the other as they heard the hollow thud made by the case. She picked up the case quickly. She had known that would stir up their zeal to get her. She ran through the stairs behind the house to the backyard. How could she tell if there was one of those guys at the gate? Her big brown eyes started squeezing out tears. ****** "Another.. shot!" Richard hit the glass cup on the table. He was drunk already and needed more of the wine. This time, Jay had returned back to his seat to start drinking. He stared at Richard and shook his head. "How many glasses has he taken?" "I don't know.. he's just been drinking." Uche replied as he yawned. "I don't think he should take anything any longer. Though, I think this is better than wandering around." Jay said. "A lot better! If he had been wandering around the whole place, he might be robbed or might have done something bad to himself. All the same, he shouldn't get drunk to this state." "If she dies, I die!" Richard said and started mumbling some incoherent words too. He had lost all coordination. "It seems this guy is going to cause a scene." Jay said as he dropped his drink and looked around if there was no one watching them. "Richard, stop this." He winced. Uche nudged him but he just laughed. "Christina is my life! She must not die oh! If she dies, everyone is going to die." He continued babbling until his friends helped him up. It seemed they overstayed already, they should get going. -------------

Episode 3 Pemisire was still at the same spot until she made a move to peep at the entrance, if there was no one there. She didn't know what would become of her father and twin sister if she ran away. She was agitated, short of ideas at that time. If she didn't leave that spot as early as possible, she might even be caught. -------------- "Alright, tell me. Where are the classic documents?" The guy questioned Davies. He had already made them kneel on the floor as he stood like a mountain before them, wearing the face of a hungry lion that could devour any animal seen. He was breathing heavily, to make his anger known to them. "There are no classic documents." Davies replied. "I hateliars!" The guy roared as he hit his hand on Davies' head and made him lay on the floor. His breathing hadn't changed, neither the look on his face. He looked into Pemisayo's eyes and walked closer to her. "I repeat, for the last time. Where is that bag in which documents are?" Pemisayo couldn't tell. She didn't even know any document existed, if she knew, she'd have told the furious guy before her as she shivered on her kneels. She was just quiet, it was just a earring that was on her, the second one must have fallen while she was trying to obey the assassin. He gave a wicked laughter and brought out his phone. He punched some buttons and stepped aside to make a call, maybe to the person who sent them. "Proving stubborn boss." He said and was quiet for a moment. "Alright, the ball is in my court? I'll waste them." He said and ended the call. He walked back to them exasperatingly and pulled Davies up. "Now..." he was about to talk when his accompanist stepped out. "No other person." He stated as he walked closer. "No problem. They will be wasted." He laughed and faced Davies again. "Where are the documents? For your information, Mart is already dead and all his companies would be shut down soon. You know what I'm saying, don't you?" Davies had lost control then, he looked worn out as he knelt before him. "I.. d.. don..don't." He stammered. "Don't tell me that crap!" He blurted as he stood upright and faced the fellow guy. "What do we do now?" The guy asked. "I was told they are three in this house, make sure you get that last lady! From all indications, it seems she has the documents." He responded swinging his hands along. "Alright." The guy replied and hastened back. ***** PEMISIRE I think I better go inside back. This guy keeps repeating that word 'waste', was it Lawrence that sent them? If this classic documents will be the one to destroy my family, I think going back will be the best. Pemisayo must not die, neither dad. What have they been passing through there? There's no way I can raise an alarm, I'm not sure if they've not been in some places, hiding and watching out to get me. This is frustrating! I reall.. I really don't know! Money is the root of all evil, if not for the wealth, why would they be looking for the documents? What's the..... wait, was that a gun...shot gunshot?" ****** "Pemi!" Pemisire screamed as she shook her twin sister continuously. She was shivering, tears running down her cheeks as she held on to her and screamed again. She had flung the attaché case to a side and was in the saddest mood ever. The white terracotta tiles had turn to red already as the blood of her twin sister and father had gushed out immensely. "No!" She weeped. She turned around and sighted her father again. "Your...id..identity..tity.." he said and gave up at once. She never knew he could still speak, she held on to his Ankara dress and shouted. She turned to her twin sister too, she didn't even know which to hold, it was still like a dream. She was breathing heavily, her cherished white skirt had turned red, even her v-neck was blood-stained. It really looked like the end. ******* SATURDAY MORNING. Richard rose up from his brass full-sized bed and yawned. He shook his head and yawned again and stretched along. As he opened his eyes fully, they caught the pieces of the shattered mirror on the floor. He couldn't pack it up the night before. He took a glance at his wounded hand and raised his head to check what time it was. It was six-thirty in the morning. He scratched his head snd sank back into the bed. As he sat, he stared at the picture of his sister that was placed on the Sony Television which was at a certain angle, facing the bed. His room was not too big but it was well decorated for him, by his friends. He didn't have time for decorating the room, all he did was to enter into the room to either sleep or cry. The room was wallpapered in predominantly christain calligraphies on the lavender walls. It had two windows, adjacent to each other and with a computer table which had a swiveling lamp, placed on it. He had his shoe rack at angle, near to his wardrobe and checkered curtains. The room also had a small gray bookshelf filled with some of his files and diaries, a well rugged abode with a brown ceiling fan. "I think this alcohol worked out." He said softly as he laid his hand on his sister's picture and stared at it. Usually, he wouldn't sleep like he did, he did sleep for few hours and use the remaining hours of the night to cry or question God. It would be a very nice thing to keep doing, if that would scare his worries away. "Christina Omolara." He called her name softly and smiled faintly. As he kept staring, his phone buzzed. "Hope there's no problem again?" He asked Stephanie as he picked up the call. "She's ill." Steph replied Richard almost instantaneously. "Again?" He asked as he looked terrible, down in tears again. He flung the phone to the other side of the bed and knelt on the floor as usual. "Anaemia!" He burst out. He stood on his feet at once and walked out of his room, aiming to drive to his parent's house. He looked bellicose

Episode 4 ------------ "Off to where?" Uche asked Richard as they both ran into each other. "Somewhere important." He replied without waiting to discuss more. "Richie! Where? You look horrible!" Uche shouted and walked before him as quick as he could. "Guy! My sister is ill again. I think I still have something to sort out with these parents of mine." He replied as he halted. "Your sister is ill, instead of you to go to her place and help her to the hospital, you're here talking about fighting your parents." Uche hissed. "You won't understand me." Richard walked away. ****** "Tell me this is a lie!" Helen shut the door and moved closer to Pemisire. "They... d..died." Pemisire cried. "Die? Wait.. I don't get this. You came all the way from Lagos to Ibadan here?" "Helen, please.. I just don't... I don't know!" She kept crying. "What happened? You shouldn't be here crying." Helen sat beside her on the Vitafoam that was on the carpet in the small room. It was a small room with the small matress at the left corner of the room when the door was flung open to the right. It had a black wall clock, a small television and DVD player with a fan near the reading table which was located close to the wall at the back of the room. The room was painted bice-blue colour and had asbestos ceiling. It was a rented apartment. "They were killed.. Dad.. Pemisayo.." Helen shook her head sadly and held Pemisire's shoulder. "You shouldn't cry, don't cry." She repeated. Pemisire couldn't hold the tears back, she didn't even care if she'd be killed overnight, she sat with the corpses till it was morning again and left the house when it was past four that morning. Her eyes were red and her body was still stained with blood. "I shouldn't?" She continued weeping. "Yes! Remember all you did tell me when we were in school, remember life is not a bed of roses, do you remember your nickname? A man's destiny? I think you should recall all those days you'd sit with me and admonish me about my future, about life. Don't let this weigh you down, and besides, what really happened?" She asked. They were close friends when they were still in the university, they were also roommates that did share everything they had. Helen had lost her family to a fatal accident while she was about completing her secondary school education. She was living with her father's sister who turned out to be monstrous to her overnight and made life uneasy for her after he tertiary education. She had to rent a room and became a chemistry teacher to make living. ----- --------------- "I was with my family, twenty-four hours ago. I was talking with my sister.. many hours back. I never knew that would be the.. the very last time we would talk." She burst out again. Helen heaved a sigh and wiped her lone tear. "You can't be like this forever! We should thank God for sparing your life. Let me give you one fact of life, one thing is that God created us in such a way that we are greater than all things. All the animals, even weather! We can shield ourselves whenever it rains or when it's sunny but animals can't do this! The first thing is to always thank God for creating you as a man, not a goat and even appreciate him even in the times of trial. You can't tell who might have killed your family but it might be you the person came for! Something is just that you can't have everything in life!" She clapped her hands together and paused. Pemisire turned around and looked at her. "One can't have everything in this life?" "Sure! I know you're full of wisdom and you're as well comprehensive. The news that was broadcasted last night was about the death of the popular man your dad worked with; Mart. It's all over the world already that the man died, even though he was in money, I mean cash! He didn't have everything! He had sickness, some people's maybe be barreness, others maybe any other kind of disturbance. It's for a purpose." "What purpose?" "Hmmn..." Helen smiled faintly. ****** "My friend, get out of my way!" Richard pushed the security man out of his way and entered into the house. He looked browned-off and blue in the face as he stepped inside the compound. For the gate keeper to have refused opening the gate, it must be an order from his parents. He was dressed in casual white shirt and a brown loosed-fitting trouser as he stood before the house in the compound, checking the house out. It had changed from how he left it. He hissed and walked in briskly, that wasn't what he came for. "Hello!" He bustled in through the door and met his parents on the dinning, already eating breakfast. "Breakfast?" He glanced at the wall clock and walked closer. His 'hello' wasn't replied, he never cared likewise. Wasn't it too early to eat? "I said hello!" He walked closer. "How did you get into this compound? Have you forgotten your words?" His father challenged him. "I came here just to tell you that you've succeeded in making her sick again, everytime she gets sick, I'll curse you!" "Was Musa not at the gate? How did you enter?" "I never knew you've told him you don't wish to see me any longer. I have never seen this kind of parents before, you're callous, always unmoved, wicked and heartless! Don't you two know you aren't meant for each other? See what you've turned Christina too, a sickler without hope.. you're wicked!" His mother smiled faintly. "You're so senseless! You lack courtesy and etiquette. She has anaemia, yes, we never denied her until you two behaved stupidly. I thought you could handle it yourself." "Is this a mother?" He gave her a stern look while the woman stood furiously and slapped him. "How dare you?" "I'm not moved to an inch, even if you wish to stab me. I know your type, always trying to satisfy your selfish desires at the detriment of your children. If she dies, I'm going to kill you, Dad and myself." He walked out as he held on to his cheek, weeping. ***** Lawrence walked into Davies' house with his two men. He looked enraged as he stepped into the house. "You mean that last lady must have escaped?" He asked. "Yes sir.. or maybe she wasn't around." One of the guys replied. "No, I'm sure! I'm really sure." He repeated. "We have to get this place cleaned up and make sure these corpses are packed. I called the hospital already, for the ambulance. And, search the whole house thoroughly for that attaché case, it contains the vital documents." "Yes boss." The guys chorused. "After we worked for many years, how could he be the only one who will inherit all the companies? Just get all that done, I hope you aren't armed." "We are not sir." "That's good, you know I have to be at Mart's place too, concerning his death and the likes." He said. "Alright boss." "So, search everywhere thoroughly for the documents or any vital evidence." He said and walked out. ***** Richard hastened into his sister's room as the door was opened by Stephanie. "Bestie.. how are you?" He quickly asked. She looked pale and ill. "I'm not alright at all." She replied as she breathed slowly. "Again? What really happened?" He asked Stephanie. "She's been feeling somehow since yesterday evening till this morning that everything had gone worse." "Alright... but you should have called me yesterday, that's not the case now sha, let's go to the hospital." He said as he brushed to his feet. -------------

Episode 5 "Did you bring your wears?" Helen asked Pemisire. "I'm with nothing but the attaché case on the floor. That was the last thing my dad gave me." She had laid then with her hand crossed over her head. "Like.. you mean the whole documents to Mart's wealth is in there?" Helen asked as she gazed at the attaché case. "Yes, all. I never knew that what all that would wipe my family out, if I knew, I would have fought against it." "How? You ran away when the beasts entered into your house, how would you have done it?" "Helen.. I'm not feeling very alright at all, I'm feeling sleepy but I don't know why I can't sleep." She spoke quietly as she took off her hand. "Hmmn... the best thing to be done is just to take a cold shower and then you sleep. I have lesson notes to write and as well wash some clothes, will you come and take your bath now?" "Ye..yes." She had started crying again. ******* "Romeo... a whole bottle." Richard sat down as he addressed the male bartender. He had dropped off his sister at the hospital with her friend and thought he should come and wash down his worries. It had been hard on him to avoid thinking on what was happening. The only new companion he had was alcohol, it would make the worries fade away. He smiled as the bartender approached him, he was wondering that he had started knowing various types of wines. "Thank you." He said and poured the wine into the wine glass cup before him. It was Saturday morning. He looked around and could sight just few people in there, they might have come to wash down their worries like he was doing. Within ten minutes, he finished the whole bottle of the red wine and demanded for more. It was working out for him, he smiled as he continued drinking until it was twelve noon. He was already drunk then and out of control. He went ahead to pay for his drink and overpaid before he walked out, into the sunny atmosphere with his eyes dimmed and laid down at the back seat of his car and slept off. He also knew if he should try driving that time, blood would flow. ****** 3pm. Richard came out of the car soaked with sweat. He stretched and yawned continuously and fickled his hand to check what time it was, on his leather wristwatch. "Ah!" He exclaimed and entered into the car quickly. He removed his phone and car key from the pocket as he shut the door with his left hand and yawned again. He had sixty-one missed calls already, from his friends and from Stephanie. As he sighted Steph's name, he sped off to the hospital to check on his sister. As he flung the door open, he saw Stephanie seated on a brown seat at the waiting room. "How far?" He approached her swiftly. "I don't know, I called you earlier but you didn't pick it." She said as she rose to her feet. "Yeah, I.. I was doing something. So where are the Doctors?" "See, her condition is somehow critical bro, Doctor Kate has been with her since." Steph explained. "Critical again?" "Yes, I don't even know what to do." She sighed as she sat again. Richard turned his back at her and looked sad again, he really looked annoyed and fed up of the whole situation, what would he do? Pray to a God that wouldn't answer him or what? "Whether you like it or not, my sister must live! Why do you like being partial? You give some people sound health and some, a very bad one! Some people are as rich as Dangote, Mart, Bill Gates and many more, why is mine this way? Why is my sister's health upside down? And you call yourself a God!" He shouted. "Easy, Richie." Stephanie tapped him. He had started crying again. ****** "We couldn't find the documents and attaché case but we found an evidence." One of Lawrence's guys stated. "Really? What?" Lawrence asked. The guys brought out Pemisire's diary and gave Lawrence. "This diary." Lawrence smiled as he collected it. "That's why I trust you guys!" He looked through it and found Pemisire's picture, and her top secret on the issue of attaché case that her father gave her. "It means this girl knows the secret, she has the documents, we must get her!" He stood up as he looked indignant. "She must be gotten!" He roared. "Yes boss, but how do we start?" One of them asked. "Just leave for now, I have to read this diary well, I think it should contain places where she might have gone to." "Alright boss, that's true." The guys stood up and left. Lawrence sat quickly and started reading the events in the diary well, he had to get Pemisire, she was his last hope then. --------- "He kept on repeating my identity before he finally died." Pemisire told Helen sadly, with her back against the wall as she was seated on the floor. "Really? So how do we start? We really have to hide your identity and this attaché case. If you're gotten, it might lead to something even more disastrous." "Yeah, the first problem is you. How are you going to keep it unknown to people that I'm not Pemisire, I'm not the one with these documents?" "It's a simple thing, we're sisters and I can't betray this trust that you have in me. Pemisire, the problem is you. You should be the one to know how you will keep your name unknown to people. You know you won't be able to return to Lagos, even for years because of this identity." Pemisire stood up and smiled faintly. "Alright, that's not a problem. Once I don't have a problem with you, there's no problem. The next thing is just about the work I'll start doing." "Can you work in a bar for now? I saw a vacancy post at Hexagon Club and Bar, the place is not really far from here." "I will, but for now I wish to be at home. I'm not in the mood to do any work, or else." She said and laid on the bed. "I understand you." Helen smiled too. ***** To be conti

Episode 6 Richard and Stephanie walked into the ward and met Christina in pain as she was treated by Doctor Kate and Doctor Esther. Both walked fastly towards them with widened eyes, wondering what had made her be in severe pain. "Doctors, what's wrong with her?" They chorused. "I think you should see me in my office." Doctor Kate told him. He quickly grabbed her hand and checked her pulse and face the Doctors again. "Her rate of breathing is severely bad, talk to me what's happening?" He started weeping as he saw tears in Christie's eyes. The Doctors also looked sad and unhappy with the situation on ground, "just let us meet." Doctor Kate said again and walked out with Doctor Esther, both were sad and downcast. "How are you bestie?" He held her hand again. She shook her head continuously, trying to tell him she wasn't alright. She was in pain as she writhe to the right and left sides of the bed, weeping along. Her heartbeat had increased rapidly and she had shortness of breath. "I'll be back, let me check in the Doctor. But, crying won't solve the matter, please don't cry." He wiped her tears with his right thumb and broke down in tears again. "I'm sure you will live, I'm sure this is just a test, I'm sure it's just a trial to know if we can withstand this. You will rise again to be greater than who you... who you.. are." He kept crying as he stared into her eyes. Christina wished to speak too but she couldn't. Her two lips were shaking but her words weren't heard again, Stephanie was crying also, pitying the condition she was in. She wished it could be taken away from her. If she really scrape through death, God really loved her and must have preserved her life for his glory. The room was filled with sadness and tears from them all. "Please stop!" Richard wiped her tears again, tears hadn't stopped rolling down his cheeks then but he couldn't watch Christie cry, even in her condition. ******* "What's the problem now, Doctor Kate." Richard flung the door open as he entered into the Doctor's office with her. "Don't be broken apart Mr Richard, please sit down." The young lady said as she took off the stethoscope from her neck. Richard sat quickly. "What's happening?" He asked again, impatiently. "The problem for now is the shortness of breath, the rate of her heartbeat and painful joints caused by arthritis . What we should start doing is to be prayerful concerning her health so heart failure wouldn't start soon because of too much iron from blood transfusions." She stopped for a while and continued. "We also have to carry out these tests as soon as possible. The Complete blood count ( CBC ), Hemoglobin electrophoresis and Serum creatinine." Richard placed his head on the table and continued crying. His face was oily already, the home sadness and tears. "Just do anything to save Christina, anything!" He repeated and stood up. He pulled up his dress to wipe his face before he left the Doctor's office to check on Christiana again, and drove back to his abode- Hexagon Club and Bar to drink. ****** "I'm getting impatient, Jay. He didn't pick up his calls since morning, neither did he call. I think we should go and check on hkm in the hospital." Uche said. "Do you think Richard is in the hospital? I don't think so." He hissed and squinted his face. "But at least, let's go and check on him." Uche said and rose up. Jay hissed. "I just pray this guy won't disturb my night, I have to be in club tonight." "Let's try, let's look for him and I'm sure he must be there." ****** HEXAGON CLUB AND BAR "What is your problem? I'm I not... not going to.. pay you?" Richard accused the bartender. "I just feel you've taken enough sir, please you should now take your leave." "What.. an insult! What's your.. own.." He spoke and hit his hand on the table before him. "I want Baron!" Uche and Jay walked into the bar and sighted him at their usual place. They had gone to the hospital and couldn't find him, it was Jay that suggested their search to the bar. "I told you!" He said as he walked in with Uche. "I never knew he could come here." Uche approached him. "Richard!" He called him as he stood at his front. "Tope, how are you?" Richard asked as he tried to raise his head up. "Who's Tope? This guy's completely out of it." Jay hissed and tapped him. "What's happening? Since when has he been drinking?" Uche asked the bartender. "For some hours. I was telling him to stop when you came in." The guy replied. Jay shook his head continuously, pitying him. They paid for his drinks and drew him out of the bar. *****

Episode 7 A WEEK LATER. "Getting more critical, all you need is prayer." Doctor Kate entered into the ward as she finished speaking to Richard and left him to start fighting with his weird thoughts again. It was a week already, he had been performing wrongly in the office and would always visit the bar everyday after leaving his place of work to 'wash down his worries'. Were the worries really washed down? He'd get back home and sink into the bed and wouldn't wake up until the next day into his worries and agony again. What else could he do to stop these bad imaginations from manifesting? Everything was bad for him and his sister, he always imagined the pains she did pass through every minute as she'd writhe to the right and left of the bed, the new news he just heard was that she now had Jaundice which bad started making her skin and eyes turn yellowish. She also had arthritis, what else didn't she have that might cut her life short? He had tured to an overnight drunkard just because of Christiana, he had turned his back against God and even ladies because they might be a source of disturbance to him. What else could he do than to walk out of the hospital to play with his new friend- alcohol. ****** "Pemisire, are you sure you will work at Hexagon Club and Bar?" Helen asked her as she stood up, dresses in an ankara gown and a pair of slippers. "Yes, for the mean time." She replied. "Alright, let's go there now because I have to iron the shirt I'll wear to school tomorrow." She took of her slippera and picked up her rubber sandals. Pemisire also stood up and wore one of Helen's sandals near the fan. "Are we set?" Pemisire asked. "Sure." Helen smiled and both walked out. ***** "I just found a name here, and also a mobile number." Lawrence told his guys. "Name? Tell us more boss." "Now, I found Helen and ber mobile number. As it was written in the diary, she's likely to be her best friend. She wrote something about Destiny or so.. I can't recollect but Helen is the only one found for now." He explained. "That's simple boss, Let's start with Helen." Another guy spoke. "So, we will start by calling her mobile number and disguising to be Michael." Lawrence smiled. "Michael?" The guys asked. "Yes, I also found that name here, she wrote something about that guy that he inspired her into singing, the day she went to the hall with her best friend, Helen. So, from there, they might know each other." He explained. "Wao! That's really cool boss." One of them grinned. "But what of the voice?" Another asked. "That one is small, if she falls and she asks about the voice, we will tell her the phone has problem. And, a place where problem might come from is that if she contacts the guy regularly or if she doesn't even know the guy or they aren't connected." Lawrence expatiated. "That's true, let's start from there." They laughed. ----------- RICHARD. In no time, people will start criticizing me concerning the way I drink. In no time, many people will start criticizing me that I blame God and doubt his existence. Many people don't know that his existence is useless to me, really worthless! She now has jaundice and God is alive, he's not dead, people say he doesn't sleep, neither does he slumber. Hmmn! Now I k-n-o-w! He does sleep to some people's problems and wouldn't to some other people. I do say it, I do lay emphasis on it that he is partial! Yes, arthritis, pains, jaundice, yellowish skin and many more. This is too much for her to bear, just unbearable! I wonder how she's been living, holding on to a thin rope that might cut at anytime. She cries and shows her sadness, I think Doctors are even getting tired of us. Useless at both work and home, heading to an unknown destination and you tell me God exisits? You tell me he's not partial? That's a lie! ****** Helen and Pemisire walked into the room together as Helen shut the door To be continued

Episode 8 ------------------ Stephanie kept bothering Doctor Kate until she was told to sit down in the office. She was really impatient as she stared at the Doctor, she needed to know what had gone wrong with her best friend, she couldn't just die that way. "Doctor, please speak up." She rose to her feet again, already sweating profusely. "I told you earlier to take things easy, your friend is not dead it's just that her condition just got worsened." She spoke slowly as she looked really unhappy. "Worsened? So, what is the 'worsened condition' all about?" She sat down. "Kidney, it's kidney problem now." She swooshed out a long breath and continued. "We need to get her operated as soon as possible, kidney transplant has to be done." The Doctor said as she hit the ball pen in her hand on the table continuously. "Transplant? What's wrong again? What's up with her kidney? Tell me! What's happening?" She screamed. "Easy lady! Anaemia causes low red blood cell count which as well causes kidney failure. It reduces the flow of oxygen also, so, please take it easy." "This is annoying! I wonder why this exists! I hate it when someone is in pain, what's the purpose of coming to the world if one will experience peace throughout? Her life is at stake, her soul is burning! I can feel it, arthritis, Jaundice, now kidney failure! Is she the only one? Even if this is a trial, it's getting too much!" She shouted. "Everyone in this world have a trouble or the other that he or she's battling with. If I tell you my story too, you're going to marvel. You guys are now more than my clients and Christie is more than a patient. I passed through even more difficult challenges." She rose to her feet and sighed. "More difficult? I'm sure you didn't pass through this pain, I'm sure." "I'm Kate, an asthmatic patient no one on earth could believe of her existence. I lost my blind father to a burning house which happened when my only brother was also fighting to become wealthy in life. He got himself into politics which made his fellow politicians who were fighting for a post burn down my father's house and killed him. I had to run away with my mother when everything we had became nothing. I was in my 500 level, that time. There was no place to go to, no one to help, we were hated! Isolated! I don't know what else to say right now... see lady, whatever the case will be, we will try our best." She sat sadly. "I wish to know what happened, how did you now become a Doctor? Even one that's loved in this place?" "Let's leave that for another day, but I lost my mother to an accident too, I almost died because of the attack I had when I heard about her death. I had no hope, no friend, no one. Just.. let's just leave it." "But, promise me my friend will live." She wiped her tears. "Hmmn.. I don't.. Alright, I do." She sighed. "Your reply was somehow. Be sincere, be truthful." "I think I have to get the Urologists and Nephrologists now, time is not our friend." She stood quickly. "Alright, what of the donor?" "You should be able to donate. Kidney transplanting is a very serious surgery, any slight mistake might lead to something disastrous. So, we have to run series of tests on you. Your blood sugar, blood group and others. So, let's keep our fingers crossed, let me get the surgeons informed." "Alright, let me get Richard and anything that would be needed." Stephanie rushed out. STEPHANIE rushed out of the hospital, in search of Richard who had left the hospital for a while now. She look frustrated as she entered into the taxi that took her to Richard's place to get him informed about what was happening next. She didn't even remember that she could call him, and besides, it was an avenue for her to leave the hospital. Leaving the hospital would at least make her less nervous than being in the hospital. She knocked at the gate continuously before Uche came to get the gate for her. She was sweating and her hair had ruffled already, she greeted him as she tried to smile to at least brighten her wrinkled face. "Good day." She bowed. "Yeah, good evening." Uche smiled and let her in. "How are you?" He asked as he shut the door. "I'm... good." I'm I really good at all? Can everything on ground make me even good? "Yeah." Uche smiled faintly as he turned to face her again. From all indications too, she didn't look good and chuffed to him, but as usual and almost 'Nigerian' he still had to ask her how she was. "You aren't looking fine as you've told me earlier, how's she? What's up?" He moved closer to her. "Things have gone worse. The Doctor said she now has kidney failure and she has to be operated as soon as possible." She said as she wiped her face. Uche was shocked. He opened his mouth wide open as he stood akimbo, shaking his head continuously. "Is Richie not in the hospital with you guys?" "So he's not at home, he is not with us either." She frowned. Uche sighed. "Alright, I know where he can be. Let me get dressed and take you there to see things for yourself." "Thank you." She said and walked to the gate to lean on it. Uche nodded and walked inside to pick his shirt. He just had his singlet and brown trouser on earlier. "I'm going in search of tyhat naughty guy, it seems he has gone to his place of work." Uche told Jay. "Alright, don't belong." Jay waved at him. "Is that all you'll say? Shouldn't you pick up your shirt and come with me?" Uche smiled, he knew Jay would not leave that spot to accompany him to Hexagon Club and Bar. "I'm going nowhere." Jay hissed and laid on the sofa, turning his back at Uche. "But all I know is that it's not his wish to be drinking too, this situation turned him into doing that. Besides, remember we introduced him into this, if we hadn't forced him that Friday, he would just be meandering around as usual. "So, his introduction to alcohol has made him so useless? We that got him introduced to it, do we drink like he does now? Who knows if this rambling around of a thing is just about drinking sef ." Jay hissed. "Anyways, the condition of his sister has gone worse again. Her friend is by the gate, she said she now has kidney problem and operation has to be done as quick as possible." Jay sprung to his feet immediately he heard that. "Kidney again? This is getting out of control, what on earth would Richie do on hearing this? And, what sin has this girl committed to deserve all these diseases, sicknesses and ailments? I'm sure this will turn Richard's brain around again." He gave a long breath. "Anyways, will you follow me now?" Uche questioned. "Alright, I just pity the guy too but I hate it if everything one does is getting too much!" He said as he buttoned his shirt too and walked toward Uche. They both stepped out of the house after switching off the electronics and bulbs, off to the Bar. ****** CHRISTIANA. When peace, like a river, attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll; whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, it is well, it is well with my soul. Though Satan should buffet, though trials should let this blest assurance control, that Christ has regarded my helpless estate, and hath shed his own blood for my soul It is well with my soul, It is well, it is well with my soul. Doctor Kate entered into my ward and came to me, she looked sad as she watched me cry and held my two hands. "Crying won't solve anything, crying won't let this problems leave, it will just add to it." She said as she shook my two hands slightly. "This is a cry of joy, I'm not crying because I'm going to die, I'm crying because of the perished souls. I'm crying because I'm wondering on those who might be in my shoes and would question God, I'm... Doctor..." I said as I kept crying. "I never told you that you would die!" Doctor's eyes widened as she shook my hands again, she had started crying then. The stethoscope she had around her neck fell as she wept along with me. I felt her agony, I felt her pulse that was like a flow of turbulent water from an ocean, I took of my hands, this time holding her own hands, we both continued weeping.

Episode, 9 ****** RICHARD HAD FINISHED A BOTTLE OF SPANISH WINE when Uche bustled through the door with Stephanie and Jay. "I said it." Jay said as they approached Richard. Uche tapped Richard while Jay winced at him and shook his head continuously, a twinge of disappointment went off inside Stephanie as she saw him, was he to be blamed? "I knew it, i really knew you'd be here, drinking. Now we have to visit the hospital." Uche said. Richard's vision had gone blur as he raised his head and looked at them. He couldn't recognize any of the three until he was pulled up and bundled outside, the next item on his sleep was to sleep off. Jay waited behind and paid the bartender before he walked after them, heading to the hospital. ***** "There is a uniform, didn't you see it on that guy?" Pemisire asked Helen. "Maybe, maybe not. Just be prayerful because it isn't easy to work in a bar." Helen told her. "I know, I'm not gonna spend so much there. I see myself working in greater places, but for the mean time, I have to bow for destiny." "That's true, not even with these documents, you're going places dear." She grinned. Pemisire chuckled softly. "The problem is still about the safety,I'm sure that man must be doing everything within his reach to get me." She snorted. "I acquiesce, but girl I don't think there's anyway he can get you here. Does he have any of your contacts?" Pemisire shook her head. "Then, all is well." Helen smiled as she hissed. "I just have a little plan." She drawled on the bed, moving closer to Pemisire who sat leaning against the wall and spoke to her faintly, thereafter, both laughed and nodded together. ***** "So Doctor, how do we start the preparation for the operation?" Uche asked the Doctor. They had gotten to the hospital already, Richard had slept in the car while he entered into the hospital with Jay and Steph. "The donated kidney may be from a living related donor, living unrelated one or deceased one. Now, it all depends on us. Everything to be done should be between a week because the transplanting will take up to two days." "Two whole days? It's just an operation now." Stephanie squinted her face. "Yes, the donor would be placed under general anesthesia before surgery and this means the donor would sleep asleep and pain-free. Then, we can use small surgical cuts with laproscopic techniques to remove the kidney. Note that the kidney would be transferred into saline for fourty-eight hours, so, everything is going under three days now. Another thing is getting a donor and running all the necessary tests again, this might also take time." "Anyways, how do we commence everything?" Jay enquired. "There's another problem." Doctor Kate stood up. "What again?" Steph screamed. To be continued

Episode 10 DOCTOR KATE SAT DOWN as she addressed Stephanie. "You should take things easy now, you don't need to shout." She cautioned. Stephanie was breathing heavily, she had been praying to herself not to hear anything bad concerning her best friend. she tried to calm herself down before she spoke. "Alright, just tell me what is going on, what's up with her again?" She asked. "The criteria in which one must have before donating a kidney." She paused for a while before she continued. "The person must not be a drunk, I mean the person must not be someone who drinks alcohol regularly because such people are already giving their kidneys more work to do." She paused again, this time, Jay and Uche glanced at each other and then the Doctor again. "Another thing is that the person must not be diabetes patient. Now, I hope you guys don't drink." She smiled. "Just once in a while, let's say every Friday night." Jay replied with a smile. "Even if it is just once per month, I won't let you donate because the complications after the surgery are usually severe if the donor has a faulty kidney." "Then I'll donate." Stephanie chimed in. "Alright, that's also cool." Uche said. "What of Richard? He doesn't look like a person who drink." Doctor smiled. "He's even the boss at it." Jay chuckled. "Let's see how it goes." Dr. Kate nodded continuously. ------------ MORNING. Pemisire had dressed up as early as possible. She was dressed neatly in a dapper and plush white collared shirt which she just bought together with the cerulean blue fitted true-to- size trouser and a pair of black sandals. She raised her head up after using her black belt and faced her friend. "How do I look?" She asked her with a smile. "I knew it, I knew you'd ask me that question." Helen chortled and continued. "They worth their prices, you look great dear." "You just made me remember Pemisayo, that's what she did she anytime I conclude my dressing. She'd say I look good, any man who would marry us must be a great man." "Don't let us talk about that again, bringing back memories will make us uncomfortable." She cuddled her. "Alright, Chemistry Teacher." She laughed. Helen hit her and laughed too. "Thank you, Mrs Bartender." "Anyhow, but I'm not a 'Mrs'" "I tell you, you will meet the man soon." She laughed. "I have no time for a guy now, I can't love anyone in this predicament." "Girl, I tell you, you don't know when the right man can come, be cheerful everytime." She smiled faintly and picked up her handbag. "You will make me be the most punctual teacher at the end of the term, I do leave home like fifteen minutes after this time. Anyways, it's a good thing." She grinned. "Hmmn.. You just talk like she did, you act like she did, she did tell me that no one knows when the angel might come, always look happy." Pemisire smiled faintly and picked the handbag. "Just be a good girl, I'll get the planned stuff as we've discussed." She smiled. "It's good but I don't think it is necessary, no one knows my hideout." "It doesn't matter dear." Helen said. "I'm off." She concluded. ******** "Kidney what?" Richard shouted as he flew up to his feet. He just woke up from his sleep and met himself lying on one of the sofas in their small sitting room. He got the bombshell from Jay who had been praying for him to wake up so as to hear the latest news as soon as possible. "Failure, boy." Jay replied him. "Not again, not again! This is too much for her to bear, it is!" He went on his kneels crying. "I knew you'd do this senseless thing, I knew it!" Uche hissed aloud and stood up before him. "This won't solve the matter, if you don't know. Now, what do we do?" "I should be the one asking, I think surgery is the next right? I'll donate, even the two." He said quickly. "Guy, use your brain! See, how can you donate two kidneys? And, for your information, you can't donate anything." Jay said. "Why would I not? I think i should get going to the hospital, I want to see my bestie." "You now drink, a person who take alcohol like you cannot be a donor, especially when her case is very tough like this present one." Jay said. "Who told you? I think I really need to go." Richard's phone rang. "Stephanie, how are you?" Richard asked as he picked up the call. "I don't have much airtime but... your attention is really needed here, it seems something is going on." She paused. "What? What again?" He quickly asked. "I don't know." Stephanie started crying." "What is it? What?" Richard fainted. To be continued

Episode 11 Pemisire walked into the Manager's office and bowed as she saw the woman in her early fifties that was on seat. She was seated on a burgundy leather desk chair that reclines to an almost obscene angle. There was a deep blue curtain and a cherry wood desk with a long brass-pull cord, a large office with a nice scent. "Good day ma." She greeted. "Yes... Destiny, how are you?" She asked her as she dropped her ball pen. "I'm good ma." She bowed again and smiled. "Welcome to Hexagon Club and Bar, this is the citadel of enjoyment." She smiled. "Yes ma, I came as scheduled." She said. The Manager swiveled her chair and smiled. "Now, no time for laziness. I see that you're a responsible lady, for you to have come here as early as possible. Now, Destiny, here you have to be totally truthful. I hate people who lie, i have a strong aversion for it. The schedule will be released soon but today, you are on morning duty which will end by 7pm." She explained. "Thank you ma." She bowed again. "So, the work starts now." She stood up and led the way. ******* RICHARD got conscious after an hour of unconsciousness on the hospital bed. His eyes darted around the ward and rose up instantly, "where are they?" He asked himself and exhaled deeply. He rushed outside and met them seated in the waiting room. "Guys!" He called them as he approached them. "How far?" Uche rose to his feet instantly. "How's she?" He quickly asked. "Still the same, what Stephanie called you for was to tell you about her parents. According to the Doctor, she's been driven away by her parents because they don't want her to be the donor." Richard opened his mouth in surprise. "Did she tell them?" He asked. "Who knows? Doctor Kate said she will do everything within her reach to get a donor soon." "I can donate for God's sake!" He shouted. "Yes you can, but it's dangerous to you guys' healths." Jay said. Richard sighed. "What do we do? I want to see her." He said. "Let's go to her ward." He asked. "Bro, just keep... keep praying for me." She started breathing heavily. "Praying to who? Is there anyone to call on? See dear, don't be deceived, that man called God doesn't exist." "Bro, he does." She tried to convince him. "Spare me! He doesn't! He doesn't! Episode 12 "Will you please leave me alone?" Richard said. "Alright, it seems you look unhappy. God will make you happy." She took some steps, walking away. "God.. hmmn.." He chuckled and poured some wine into the cup. Pemisire halted and turned around. "What is it about God? You don't look like a Muslim, are you one? Even Muslims believe in God's existence." She walked back to him. "Who are you? What do you want from me?" Richard wiped his tears as he spoke. He was down already, crying as usual. He found it difficult to stop thinking about Christie, what would become of her? Where would he get a donor as soon as possible? "You're crying, what's wrong?" Pemisire was concerned, she frowned her face instantly as she approached him. She hoped she hadn't started being too familiar with a stranger, all she was after was to make him attracted to the bar so as to patronize regularly. "Please.. just leave me." Richard said quietly dismissing her with the wave of his hand. "You can't tell if I can solve your problem, there's no man without his or her own problem." Pemisire spoke softly. "I'm... sorry, you can't be of help and besides I don't share my personal details with strangers." He said. "Alright, I pray God will make you happy then." She smiled and walked back to her post. Richard watched her as she walked back to her post, wondering how friendly she was. Despite she didn't know him, she was friendly. Wait, I can't tell, she might be of help! Can't she donate the kidney? Who knows when a donor would be gotten? I can just pay her off and besides she can use the money to start something meaningful other than being a bartender. "Hey." He waved at her. Pemisire smiled and waved back. "What else should I bring?" She asked. "Bring yourself here." He said as he dropped the cup of wine. Pemisire looked around. The other bartender that had been putting her through the work had left, there were also few people in the bar, drinking. She pressed her lips together for a while before she walked up to him. "Anything the matter?" She asked. "Why do you wish to be my friend?" He asked her. Pemisire laughed. "Your friend? I never said such, did I? I was concerned about you and God." "That man and I? So, what about me? Why are you concerned about me?" Pemisire tilted her head for a while. "Why did you term God as 'that man'?" She asked him. "You've not answered my question." Richard said. "Neither have you answered mine." She replied, squinting her face. "What's your name?" He asked. Pemisire grinned. "Call me... the unknown." "You are weird!" Richard smiled. Pemsire laughed again. "Honestly, you're weirder." "Why do you now work here?" Richard asked. Pemisire exhaled deeply. "Why do you come here to drink too?" "Why are you difficult!" "You're more difficult!" Richard smiled again. "You haven't answered any of my questions." "You haven't answered any of mine either." Pemisire replied him. "You've made me smile, even in my predicaments. I don't know the kind of person you are. Alright, which of the questions do you want me to answer?" He asked her. "Just be patient, I'm on duty right now. I have to leave." Pemsire left him on seat, smiling. She relates well, she's full of life! This kind of person will make Christiana happy, wait... she hasn't told me her name!

Episode 13 Doctor Kate sat down as Uche and Jay sat too. She got them invited concerning the donor, it seemed she found one already as the guys could read in her expression. "What of Richard?" She asked them as she put the stethoscope on her table and rested her back. "He went out, probably to drink as usual." Jay replied her. "That's bad, you should have at least stopped him, anyways, I found one already but there's a problem." "Problem? Is it concerning the donor or our girl?" Uche asked. "Concerning the donor." She replied and kept quiet for some seconds before she spoke again. "He's demanding for a huge amount of money because of that." She added. "Wao! Like how much is the guy collecting? Why are people thieves like this? Whenever they see you in a problem they tend to take advantage of you, it's not right." Uche hissed. "Do you know I'd have volunteered if we had the same blood group? But, that's another problem on ground." She said. "That's true." Jay scratched his head. "But how much is the money on ground?" Uche asked. "Three hundred thousand." She replied. "What? Then Doctor, we have to go then, let's go and try our lucks outside there if someone better can be gotten."Jay stood up. "That's also good, it's a nice idea. Who knows if the guy has contracted a deadly disease?" She laughed. ******* JUNE 11. Everywhere was busy already, a time for bars and joints to make money and sell even more than their satisfactions. Hexagon Club and Bar was full of both males and females ready to watch to watch the very first match of the World Cup that was held in South Africa. It was time for South Africa to face Mexico when Richard took a sip from his cup again. It was just 4:00pm, the match was about to be started when the bar became full. Richard had been thinking that Pemisire would soon be through with all she was doing so that they would talk and know if she could donate kidney to her sister. From the look of things, it seemed she would be really busy that evening. Several people had started making their orders and she was occupied already. He picked up his phone and called Uche to know what the latest development was when he heard that there was still no donor. He would have left the place if not for Pemisire that might be of help to him, he still had to wait, he needed something. It was the end of the week already, he looked around and saw the people already ready to watch the game all in the name of buying a bottle of wine to chill and watch the two countries trash each other as the first to kick the ball after the four years of wait. He wondered when Pemisire would conclude her work, he needed to talk with her and share his story to make her pity him and donate her kidney for his sister. He was cursing Jay and Uche deep inside him, if not for them, he would be able to donate the kidney for his sister. "Weldone, the unknown." He smiled faintly as she passed beside him to serve the guys next to him. Pemisire grinned, exposing her beautiful and neat white set of teeth. She looked even more beautiful as the grin supplemented her beauty. "Thanks." She replied, rushing back to her duty post because an order might be placed very soon. She's beautiful, is she from a poor background or what? Buit if not, would she be working in this kind of place that can make one lean like a cane? Anyways, I pray she closes soon so that i can know my fate. But wait, there is another match between Uruguay and France tonight, when will she be through? He wondered. He sighed and sipped again as the match unfold and the players played on. ***** 7:45pm. Pemisire waved at her colleague as she left the the duty post for the guy. She had concluded her own part that day, she was weak and tired. It was her first day, people could be really troublesome, ordering almost every time. "Unknown, you through?" Richard asked Pemisire as she left her post. Pemisire walked to him with a smile. "Yeah, I'm through for the day. Why have you decided to wait till now? You wanna watch the match by 8:30 too?" She asked him. "Did i watch the previous one?" He stood to his feet. He had just taken like three glasses from the bottle of wine, just unlike him. On a good day, he'd have drank up to four or more bottles, and possibly be ranting nonsense then. "Are you going home now?" "Y... yes but why the question? I think I have to leave now because it's getting late." "Please wait, can't I take you home?" Richard asked her. ....please Pemisire, know the kind of person you put your trust in, if possible, trust no one... Her father's voice reechoed after Richard asked her the question. She swooshed out a long breath and shook her head. "I'm alright." She told him. "You think so or what?" Richard asked. "I'm sure, I think I have to leave now, it's dark already." She smiled. "Wait... I need your help." She said stammering. Pemisire stood akimbo as she stared at him. "Please let it be tomorrow, I'm really tired. Or is it urgent?" She asked. "Yes, a matter of life and death." Richard replied sadly, already making up tears. Pemisire tweaked her nose. "Let's go outside." She told him and headed outside. *********

Episode 14 PEMISIRE SMILED AS SHE HALTED OUTSIDE THE GATE, she looked tired but had to know what Richard wanted to say. "So what?" She asked him. "I need your kidney." He said. "You need my kidney? What do you mean?" Pemisire frowned. "I don't know how tired you are but I know you must be very tired. But i want you to hear my story if it will move you to give me one out of your kidneys." Richard spoke. Pemisire chuckled and stared at Richard at the same time, wondering what he meant. "I hope I am safe, I don't understand all what you're saying. Please, hope I am safe?" She repeated. "That man called God is a wicked person, he's heartless and wicked! Just tell me why he is so partial to people, tell me why some people are in sound health why some people are in real sickness and even die, why is he as wicked as a hungry Lion? Is it fair? It isn't fair! It is not!" "Easy man! You are somehow funny." She chuckled and continued. "I'm late already oh, and what is this thing you are saying about God? It isn't good to be saying rubbish about the maker of heaven and earth, what is your problem?" "We were just two, two children from useless parents that do notcare about my sister and I. I don't know why they got married, just to punish the poor girl. I don't know why they are still heartless after the crime that cannot be forgiven which they've committed, I don't know another name to call them." He started crying. Pemisire sighed. "Take it easy, you've not told me what the problem is, tell me what it really is, tell me." "My sister is down, she's anemic. I fear death, I don't want her to die, I don't!" "Alright, now it's getting vivid. She's in need of a kidney right?" "Yes, the sickness has caused her jaundice, arthritis, and many more. Now, it's kidney failure. Where has he been? Why hasn't he performed as they call him, is he not the miracle worker again? I know he knows I'm in problem, he just likes closing his eyes when it comes to my sister and I." "Alright, I won't add petrol to the burning fire. I know you are hurt already but I want you to calm down because if you keep talking, you'll utter something worst than you've been uttering. I hope your sister is not like you." "Like me? How? What do you mean?" "I hope she's not an unbeliever like you." She told him. "It's just that I need your help, will you donate?" He asked again. "I'll meet you tomorrow." She said and waved at Richard. **** PEMISIRE was deep in thought as she walked down to Helen's house. She was wondering on the kind of person Richard was, was he real? If he was, his type would be rare on the surface of dust. Many guys wouldn't care that much, never. Who could tell her if he was planted to be trailing her or if he was real? She couldn't get it right, she was confused already until she knocked at Helen's door leaned against the wall, waiting for her. "He's cool, he has a soft heart with all I've seen. See how he was crying like a baby, as if it was his lover that was in a big problem. His sister..." "Pemisire!" Helen tapped her as she opened the door. She got self conscious again and sighed. "How are you?" "I'm good, really good." Helen smiled and walked inside with Pemisire. "What of you?" "I'm not really good, I was weighed down by someone." She replied as she dropped her handbag. "Weighed down? Because it was 1-1 South Africa played? Helen grinned as she sank into the bed. "Hmmn.. That match got many people glued to their seats, it was breathtaking but at the end, a draw. But, someone made me uncomfortable." She said. "Uncomfortable? Who's the person? How was work?" Helen asked. "It was a guy, he told me about his sister and her illness. He wants me to donate kidney for her." "Kidney? Is the person real? I pray you don't dig yourself into trouble." Helen said and paused for a while. "What did you tell him?" "The story of that guy was pathetic, very sad. I think I should do it." She sighed. "Pemisire! Do what again? Don't forget some people might be out there spying! Girl, wake up!" "Helen, we should always try to help. I think I should see the lady." She unbuttoned her shirt. "Hmmn... now that you will be coming home very late, how'd you do it? And, know that I'm not in support of it." "But I feel I should... I didn't tell him my name oh." "That's nice, it's a good thing. But, just tread softly." "Thanks, let's just see how it goes." She smiled. To. be continued

Episode 15 Richard rushed back to the hospital to check on Christina again, thank God it was Friday evening, even if it wasn't, he had been unfaithful to his work. He was sad as he saw her just lying on the bed, probably thinking she might die. "Christie." He tapped her as he sat besde her, on the plastic chair. "Welcome back bro, how far?" She asked. "Still hoping, I met a lady and I discussed a little about us with her. I pray she considers me and help us out." He said. "Will it even be necessary again?" She smiled. Richard frowned and stood up. "Don't start saying any rubbish, don't say anything frightening over there, Christiana." He warned and sat again. "Bro, it's a matter of knowing the truth and the truth, setting one free. I pray I'll be alright, but..." she smiled again and kept quiet. "It is better that way, than saying any rubbish that might annoy me. What have you eaten or what will you eat?" He enquired. "I'm alright." She waved her hand. Richard stared at her as she waved her hand. She had grown leaner than before, it seems that yellowish pattern on her skin has reduced but she looked dehydrated also. He sighed and kept quiet for a while. "I'm asking, what are you going to eat?" He asked again. "I'm serious, I'm alright." She replied. "You've grown leaner, but your beauty can't fade. I love you Christiana." He said, squinting his face as tears almost fell from his eyes. "I love you too, Richard. I think you should go home and rest properly." Christiana said. "What are you saying? I can't leave here tonight, I'll sleep over." ******* Jay clapped his hands together after receiving a call from the Secretary of the office and sat down beside Uche. "This one na die." He clapped again. "What did she say? At least we got the Boss informed about our absence today, hope we are not in trouble?" "None. She told me the Director asked her to draft Richard's sack letter this afternoon, isn't that bad?" He hissed. "Sack letter again? In this problem! Though, to be realistic, hs deserves it, but Director should have at least pitied him." "He has done his worst, my prayer is just that his sister doesn't die, the guy might die too. But, today na Friday night na, we no go go club tonight?" "I'm not in the mood, I don't feel like." Uche laid on the sofa. Jay took a deep breath. ******* "When the frustration one is passing through is too much, the person might say bad things to God." Pemisire said as she dropped the bread In her hands. Helen cleared her throat. "What on earth are you trying to drive at again? I hope it isn't that you want to cry again? Pemisire had started crying within a twinkle of an eye. "The last time I ate bread, it was with Pemisayo. She was discussing about death that day we were eating. She told me one isn't ready for death until it comes, she never knew her own days were numbered already." "Just take it easy! If I knew you'd do this, do you think I'll allow us take bread tonight? Stop it!" She cautioned. Pemisire snifled. "Alright." She wiped her tears and dropped the bread. "I have never seen a guy weep like the one I met today, I never knew many people love their siblings too." "I hope you won't tell me you aren't eating this bread again." "I lost.. I lost the appetite." Pemisire replied as she stood up. "I miss her, I miss Dad, I miss my acoustic guitar and... Helen!" She exclaimed. "What?" Helen raised her head quickly. "My diary! It is still in that house!" She shouted. "What do you mean? Did you write anything implicating in there?" Helen asked. "I wrote the secret about the attaché case, I left it on my bed. They must have read it!" She shouted. "Take it easy girl. They might know you have the attaché case but how are they going to get you? You better let go of these scary thoughts." "No, I repeat, no! Something tells me I might be caught, Helen, do you think this place is really safe?" She asked. Helen laughed. "You this girl, even if they get hold of your diary, how will they know you are here? It is not possible! You have no mobile phone that can be used to track you down, and many things like that." She smiled. "I pray so." She sat again, battling with her thoughts. ******* Pemisire got to the front of Hexagon Club and Bar and met Richard out there, crying already. It looked really strange. It was early in the morning, why would he come and sit at the front of a Bar and start crying? He also cried the night before, wasn't it getting too much. What could be making him weep? Or has his sister died? She felt she was getting to close to him, as a stranger but his tears had always made her affable. She felt for him as she saw him. She had felt something even much more than that and knew how it'd be to loose such a treasured person. She stood awhile from him watching him as he cried there. She couldn't force back her tears too as she swallowed hard and started crying too. Seeing him made her remember her twin sister and father again. She also remembered her mother who had died of cancer. As his last hope, if his sister should die, he might not forgive her again. When his sister was still alive and he turned himself to a useless person through drinking, what if everything should end? She swallowed again as she wiped her tears. Though, she didn't know him, though they just met but it seemed Richard was real. It must be her gregarious character that brought him back to her again, if the transplant is protracted, she might really die. If a pea falls out of the pod, leaving the other pea, it would be so sad and lonely of the pea still enclosed in the pod. She had stood there for five minutes already, crying and wiping her tears, wondering if she could help him out. If she had someone to help her, her family might still be alive. "I'll help him!" She said and looked determined as she approached him. "Hey." She waved at him. Richard sprung to his feet on seeing her. "Unknown, please help me." So, he hasn't forgotten this my name... She thought as she smiled faintly. "Where are you here as early as this?" She asked him. "Because I really need you to help me. A week is running out and the kidney transplant hasn't been done on her, please!" He begged her, crying. Pemisire looked at him with leery eyes and shook her head. 'He looks real!' She affirmed deep in her. "Even if I die all in the name of helping him, I have a reward from God." "Em... What's your name?" She asked. "I'm Richard. I'm really serious, I'm real." He repeated. "I think I'm going to give up on working here becaus of you, I don't think kidney transplant is an easy thing. I.. I believe all will be well. Can you take me to that sister of yours and let the preparations start." "Wha? You are really.." Richard jumped happily, that was what she also wanted, joy, happiness, being ecstatic, being enthusiastic. "Are we good to.. good to go?" He stammered. "Yeah." God please help me, please assist me. I'm just acting by your words which is to assist anyone in problem. I still have many battles I have to fight, please strengthen me and don't let this guy turn out to be a hired killer. Episode 16 RICHARD AND PEMISIRE walked into the hospital and headed to Christiana's ward after they've greeted the nurses on duty. "Hey Bestie!" Richard walked in, smiling. "Bro, good morning. Good morning to you." She greeted the two of them. "Yeah, good morning. How are you?" Pemisire asked her. "I'm good, and you?" She asked while Richard stood smiling at them. "Same here, dear." "To cut the long story short, this is Christiana, my sister i told you about." Richard introduced. "I don't need the intoduction any longer, i know her already." Pemi grinned. "And you, this is the unknown . She has failed to tell me what her name is, and said i should call her the unknown." He laughed. "With time, she will tell me her name." Christiana grinned. "I pray so." Richard continued laughing. "Have you seen Doctor Kate this morning?" He asked her. "No. It's early now." She replied. "That's true, but we can't tell, she might be on the night duty but I know if she was, she'd have checked on you." "So, Mrs Unknown, we have to wait for the Doctor to know what the next step is." Richard smiled at Pemisire. Pemisire nodded. -------- THREE HOURS AFTER. Lawrence stepped into the balcony with his men, with a strange look on his face as he spoke to them. "Don't you think it's high time we called this lady?" He asked them. "I have been wondering too, we ought to have finalized all that to know what the next step would be." One of the two guys replied. "That's cool then. We have to call her right now." He said as he brought out the diary and flipped some pages open, showing his men where Helen's mobile number was. "Now, go and get across to her and feed me back." "Yes boss." They echoed and walked away. **** "This is Doctor Kate." Richard smiled as he introduced Pemisire. "Good day lady." Kate smiled as she shook her. "Yes Doctor, Good morning." She replied. "So, she's gonna be my donor." He told her. Doctor smiled. "I pray so, and, is it your own donor or Chrisitie's donor?" Richard chortled. "Anyhow. And, why did you utter 'I pray so'?" He asked. "Blood group and other tests. Anyways, I'll start everything today, don't panick." "Thanks so much, I pray everything results into the expected result." Pemisire prayed. "Amen, let's get to the business. The tests should begin, now." She stood up with her stethoscope in her right hand. "Let's go." She said and led the way. ******* "Hey guy!" Jay said as he walked into Christiana's ward. "How na?" He smiled on seeing Jay and Uche. "We dey oh, how are you? Christiana." Uche asked. "I'm good." She replied smiling. "That's good to hear." Jay sat down. "We found a donor already." He informed. "Really? Where? Who?" Jay asked. "One cutie, she said she'd donate." He replied smiling. Uche stroke his beard. "That's good to hear but are they compatible?" "The lady is in the laboratory, I can't tell for now." He replied. "Where did you meet her? Or was she gotten by Doc. Kate?" Jay asked. "Leave that one for now, I just met her sha." "Hmmn... what's her name?" Uche asked. "I don't know, I don't know what her name is... wait... the unknown." He laughed. "There's a new problem oh." Jay shifted forward and continued. "Mr man, you've been sacked." "Sacked? D..Director?" He stuttered. "Yeah, just take it easy, take it easy." Uche said. Richard's joy turned to sadness again, why is everything this way?"He hissed. "Another news.." Doctor Kate entered. To be continued

Episode 17 CHRISTIANA DOCTOR KATE WAS BRIGHTER THAN USUAL, she walked in smiling chirpily. "She's fit." She informed. Richard's unhappiness turned to joy again as he rushed to his feet. "You don't mean this." He smiled. Doctor Kate kept on smiling, looking cheerful and giving a dazzling smile. I looked at her and smiled, I think lines are now falling in plesant places for me, I think God has finally heard me out to assist today. I pray this will be a new chapter in my life, to forget the moments of pains and agony, hatred and babbling, hysterical thoughts and berserk mood. "Really?" I asked Doctor Kate, looking happier than earlier. "Yes." She replied me, licking her lower lip and moving closer to probably hug or shake me. "She's now under a general anesthesia, the operation will commence soon but money must be paid." She said as she protracted her hand, to shake me. "About the money, don't worry." Richard said as he stared at her. "What.. I mean how much is the money?" He asked her. "Ninety thousand naira." She told him, blinking her eyes. "Hmmn..." He sighed and rushed out of the hospital to get the money for the operation. My only concern is that how will he get the money to pay for the operation that day? I'm pretty sure he has no money with him, it's a big thing of concern to know where the money would be gotten at ease. "We'll be back." Jay said as he stood with Uche to leave. Who knows if they are going out to get the money too? Thank you lord for sending the unknown to help me. If I even die today, make me worthy of your side. ****** Richard parked at the front of his parents' house and stared at the building for a while, before knocking. "I want to see my parents." He said to the gate keeper who was on fire on seeing Richard. "They are busy, come later." He said to him and wanted to shut the gate when Richard pushed the gate backward with full force and entered. "I think you are insane." He said as he entered forcefully, breathing heavily as if it was a stationary car he pushed. "Oga, you can't go in.." The gatekeeper rushed after him and held him by his brown shirt. "E be like say craze de worry your mama!" He wriggled off his hand and proceeded in his walk inside the house. "Wait, do you wish to die?" He got his shirt again. Richard wriggled off his hand again but this time turned to him and slapped him before he walked inside the house properly. The gatekepper had no other choice after receiving a thunderous slap from Richard's heavy fist. "You go learn today." He walked back and leaned against the gate while Richard walked to the main door and knocked. He waited patiently until his mother walked out and got the door. "Good day." He greeted. "Yes, what can I do for you?" She asked, wearing an angry face. "She's down again, we need money now." He said. "Money? From who? Who's your mother? By the way, what has come over Musa that made him let you into my compound? Now, leave!" I'm pretty sure she's is not her biological mother, not even mine. It is not possible for a mother who carried her for nine months and backed her for years will be rebuking her now. What has come over her? It is absolutely not possible for her to be the real mother. "Do you want her to die?" He asked, looking ferociously. "Do you wish to die even before her death too? I said leave!" She shouted. "Musa!" She called the gatekeeper from the was kept staring at Richard until the gatekeeper got to her place. "Get him out of this house." "Oga, abeg make u na dey go." Musa said grabbing him from behind. "Are you..." He couldn't finish the statement before his phone buzzed. "Yeah, who is this?" He asked. "It's Doctor Kate, just come!" She said, sounding so frightened. Is she dead? What is happening? Several questions ran through his mind in microseconds. "What? What is happening?" He asked again. "Doctor Philip!" He heard Kate shouting beneath the call, probably calling other Doctors. "That's the ward." She told the man bwfore she replied Richard again. "Please come, it's urgent." She said and ended the call. PEMISIRE Why are these Doctors rushing into Christiana's ward? What is happening to this lady? Even the Anesthesiologist left me for her ward, God please don't do this, don't let her die, please! My gaze swivelled over the waiting room as the ambulance doors swooshed open into chaos; beds lined in hall and each holding an accident victim, the nurses that were in blue patterned scrubs hurried up, shouting the names of the ER Doctors. The waiting room soon turned around to be filled with even some Doctors like the man who introduced himself as the Geriatrician to check what was happening, even the nurse that was with the digital thermometer had lost control as he approached them. Is the person one kind of a celeb? My ears would soon be deafened by the squeaks of rubber soles against the tiled floor, then, the grinding surgical drills had gone down and the patient were rushed into the ER ward. I can't see the patients from where I am all, do I even look like I care? All I want is for her to be alive, I don't wish the patients' death too but I don't want her to witness any pain again. I can see one, this is Richard! I shouted. ..... To be continued

Episode 18 CHRISTINA Wish to see you, wish to hear from you, wish to see you for the last time... Richard. There's no friend like the lady you brought, you better cling on to her. As for our parents, I don't think they are biological. JUST AFTER, Doctor Kate walked out of the ward, crying already. She could see other Doctors coming out of the ward too, with sad faces as they returned back to their various posts. She became frightened as she moved closer to Doctor Kate. "Don't tell... me!" She looked serious, her eyes already squeezing out tears. "Let's... let's me in my.. my office." She snorted as she walked to her office and Pemisire's mouth was wide open, in the waiting room. "Doctor.." She called as she rushed after her. "Please talk, you're crying already, Doctor what's it?" She was shivering already. "We.. we los.. we lost her." She finally said as she held Pemisire's two hands, weeping like a baby. "No!" Pemisire shouted, pouring out tears as if she had known her for a while. Her mouth was moving so fast as she shivered and was sweating profusely within seconds she heard the news. "Tell me this is a lie... tell me.. tell me!" She shouted again. "Please, don't be like this. The next thing to do is just to know how Richard will be informed. You should know it's not going to be funny." "Christiana... eventually." Pemisire couldn't stop crying and shivering along. What would be of Richard? How would he be informed? "Richard was involved in a ghastly accident." She informed. "Really? Was he the one that was brought in? Don't tell him anything, don't be sad." She tried to pet her, wiping her tears. "Is this a dream or what? Christi.. no!" "Just take it easy, we have to be very careful or else!" Doctor said, weeping too. ****** Richard rushed up from his bed and ran to the waiting room to check what was going on. He just felt better after the thirty minutes he had spent on the bed, in pain and as well thinking of his sister. To hell with drip! He said as he flung away the tube and rushed outside only to meet Pemisire seated on the brown chair in the living room, weeping. "What is it!" He shouted as he saw her. Pemisire was frightened. She rushed to her feet shivering, silent until Richard ran into his sister's ward and met her covered up. "No!" He said softly as he approached the corpse and shivered as he touched it. He removed the cloth from her face and saw that she was dead already. Pemisire had gotten to the door then, watching him as he displayed. "Christina, talk to me." He tapped her cheeks as he stared at her. "Christie!" He shouted. Pemisire rushed in and held his left hand. "Rich, you have to stop this!" She said. Richard was blinking already as he started crying, shivering along, he put his head on her chest and was weeping so hard. "Christina!" He shouted again, wriggling out his hand from Pemisire and went on his kneels. Seems like yesterday we used to rock the show I laced the track, you locked the flow So far from hangin on the block for dough Notorious, they got to know that Life ain't always what it seem to be Words can't express what you mean to me Even though you're gone, we still a team Through your family, I'll fulfill your dream (that's right) In the future, can't wait to see If you open up the gates for me Reminisce some time, the night they took my friend Try to black it out, but it plays again When it's real, feelings hard to conceal Can't imagine all the pain I feel Give anything to hear half your breath I know you still living your life, after death Every step I take, every move I make Every single day, every time I pray I'll be missing you Thinkin of the days, when you went away What a life to take, what a bond to break I'll be missing you "Christie!" He kept shouting until Doctor Kate ran inside. "Take it easy, please." She said as she held him. It seemed Richard was going crazy already. He ignored the deep cut he had by his arm during the accident and stood to his feet. He shook Christina continuously and keot shouting her name. All was still like a dream, all was still like a play, he felt it wasn't the reality. "Please wake me up from my sleep, I don't want to dream any longer." He shouted as he held Pemisire firmly, throwing himself jnto the air and crying. "Richard." Pemisire called his name, trying to calm him down but all was up to no avail. He was just spluttering. "He doesn't exist! Yeah, he doesn't!" Pemisire hung her head in sadness. She couldn't get things right too, why on earth is everything like this? She knew how he'd feel to lost his sister even after several years of sicknesses of various types. "God is wicked! Heartless! No... Christie. CHRISTINA. To be continued

Episode 19 What else could be so heartbreaking like what just happened? When Jay and Uche walked into the hospital with the money for the operation, they almost fainted on hearing of her death. "God's will, A man's destiny." Pemisire kept repeating as she held on to Richard as if they've known each other for a while. Richard jumped up suddenly and rushed ouside. Jay and Uche were still down, weeping when he rushed out. "Where's he going to?" She asked herself, wondering. She wiped her own tears and rushed after him. It seemed something had gone wrong completely. "Richard!" She kept calling him as she got outside and saw him pick a motorcycle. She stood and watched for a while, questioning herself of where he might be heading to. "She picked another motorcycle and started trailing him. **** "This is Michael." The voice told Helen. "Michael?" She sat quickly on hearing this. She just concluded her lunch, which Michael could that be? She kept wondering. "God! Babe, don't tell me you've forgotten me? Helen!" The voice said again. Helen smiled. "Wao! Michael, what's up?" She stood up. "I'm good, it's been a while. How are you?" "I'm good, how's everything?" She asked. The voice laughed. "You and these words of yours, I'm good sha. How's this your friend that said I inspired her into singing?" Helen noded, still smiling. "Wao! So it's been a while you heard from Pemisire too right?" She asked. "Don't mind me, I've been busy with Dad's business." He replied. Helen cleared her throat and began wondering. "Your voice has changed a lot, and besides which Dad? You told us your Dad has died." "Urh.... em.. Don't mind me, I call my uncle my Dad now. I'm releasing an album soon." The guy informed her. Helen was happy. "I must get that album! Oh! You're talented!" She jumped happily. "I wish to see you and your friend, there's a particular song I wish to feature you guys in." The guys told her. "Really? I'll tell Pemisire. She's here with me in Ibadan, she came... she just came to greet me." She replied. "Really? Pemisire is in Ibadan too? Send me the address to your house, I must come and see you guys!" He said. "I'll do that right away, take care." She jumped happily and ended the call. Michael was the one who lead an inspirational music when they were still in school and inspired Pemisire into singing and playing instruments until they became friends on campus and later lost their contacts. Helen sent the address instantly, she couldn't wait to tell Pemisire that Michael called her. She never knew it was Lawrence and his guys that were at work. **** Richard slammed the gate as he entered into the house. "I won't forget my words, if she dies, I die!" He muttered as he stepped into the house. Pemisire paid the motorcyclist and stood at the front of the house. She shook the gate softly but it was locked already. "What do I do? I'm sure he has gone in to harm himself." She said, looking around to get someone to help her out but none. Richard on the other hand had entered into the house and went straight to his room. He picked Christina's picture on the Sony Television and started weeping bitterly until he thought of the best idea to end his journey too. ...Story continues.

Episode 20 What would Richard do? She didn't know him really but she could read it in him that he was about to do something annoying. Richard on the other hand didn't know how to start with himself. He had been thinking if he should stab himself or maybe drink something poisonous. "Christie! Oh no!" He wept more as he stared at her picture and made up his mind. "Why would I fear death? That man they call God too is a wicked man, even if I kill myself or he kills me, I'll still surely die. Christie, wait, we are going to see that man together." He said as he rushed to his feet and ran to the kitchen. "Stabbing myself is the quickest way." He nodded as he picked up the knife as stared at it for a while. He didn't know how to apply it, death too isn't that easy, is it? He placed it on his neck and shook his head continuously, that would be a very bad place to die. He remembered the smiles on her sister's face, the tears, the affable characters and words of advice. "Christie!" He shouted and stabbed his belly and went down instantly. **** "Boss, it's done already." Lawrence's guys approached him, smiling. Lawrence's eyes widened as he stared at them. That wasn't enough, he had to stand up from the exhilaration reclining sofa in the living room. "Are you serious? Are you guys real?" He asked as fast as he could to express his utmost surprise and happiness. "Yes sir, she has sent her address." "That can't be real, I don't... just like that? Thank God for this diary!" He grinned. "It seems they were so close when they were in school, she was fluent with us. But one thing is about the voice, she didn't recognize the voice but I think her ecstasy has caused this." "That's her own business, the only thing is just that mission accomplished! Then, we move to stage two." He grinned for a while and ended the grin with a frown. "We have to get to the study, I have some plans to work out. The work must start as early as possible." He shook his head continuously. "But Boss, that girl... she must not live too." One of them said. "None of them will live, by the time I'm through with them." He laughed monstrously. **** "I see trouble." Pemisire said as she peeped through the gate. She didn't know what to do, she was short of ideas at that time. "God, why?" She hissed dryly and sighed. She rushed back to the junction and mounted on a motorcycle as quick as she could. She wasn't familiar with that place but knew the motorcyclist would locate the hospital again. Immediately she rushed down from the motorcycle and paid he driver, she ran inside the hospital to check on the Doctor if she could be of help. She hadn't met Uche and Jay so she didn't know how to approach them until the Doctor got the guys and took her along to get Richard from the house. Pemisire was sweating. She was wondering how it happened, it was just like twenty four hours that she met Richard already and now she was running around to save him. **** Jay and Uche rushed inside the house as Pemisire stood by the gate and watched until she heard the guys shout. She was filled with tension instantly, what was going on? She was still wondering until the guys brought Richard out of the house, all panting and crying along. "What?" She asked them, the rate of her pulse was on a very high speed. "He stabbed himself.. just get that gate opened." "Stabbed?" Pemisire rushed to the gate but couldn't get how it was being opened. Uche joined her and opened the gate. They flew to the hospital. To be continued

Episode 21 PEMISIRE. This same day, he lost his sister, he had an accident and even his job. He hasn't recovered from the shock of the accident when he got to know his sister has kicked the bucket too. I am quite sure he was discombobulated by the sadness, loosing a sister, hopeless. I believe when there is life, there is hope. But, no matter what happens, you must give thanks. Anaemia is baleful, kidney failure is very revolting too! He's the awesome one, isn't he? I pray you uphold the one you sent me to, I'm sure you sent me to this guy, I am sure!" **** Pemisire tilted her head, thinking as she sat at the waiting room. She remembered the little time she spent with Christiana before he sudden death. It was still like a shock to her too, wondering how she could just die when a donor showed up. Her head was aching her already, she couldn't tell if her stomach was aching her or if she was hungry. Doctor Martins who had been attending to Richard walked out and called them into his own office to tell them about the latest development. "Did you say he stabbed himself?" He asked them. "Yes, he did." Jay replied. "His situation is not really a challenging one but i pray nothing has happened to his Vasculature, solid organs and hollow viscus." He rested his back and swiveled the chair a bit. "What's all these about? Doctor, don't tell me Richard won't.." "No!" Doctor cut in instantly. "He's going to be fine but we have to get him operated. At first, this can lead to a term called peritonitis where stomach acids and bile will poison the system. The anaesthesia has been done on Richard already, so, the Doctor had started planning on the exploratory surgery laprotomy. He had discussed with his friends and Pemisire already about the internal bleeding he had. "Just pay sixty thousand for the surgery. The earlier the batter because it's a punctured wound and his anterior fascia is penetrated already." "Anterior? Anyways, we'll go pay the money right now, but please take care of him." Uche stood up. "Sure, he will be well taken care of. But, I don't want you to be afraid and you guys, he's going to need blood." He giggled. "Blood? We aren't in the same blood group. Has he lost so much blood?" Jay asked. "The one he will loose during the course of the operation and the one he has lost earlier is enough for him to need. So, you people aren't fit to donate then." He said. "What's his blood group? I think I can be of help there." Pemisire chimed in. ****** "Richard bleeped up! I never knew he had gone, why would he stab himself? He wanted to die too, will that bring back his sister?" Jay complained. "I can't blame that guy. You aren't going through a quater of what he is, are you?" Uche questioned. "Please Jay, spare me all that. After leaving the office, don't I get bothered about him and his sister?" Jay hissed. "What is this one saying? Were you neglected by your parents or were you sacked at your place of work? Come! Have you ever tried carrying it as a burden and see if you wouldn't drown? Guy! When frustration gets to a stage, you have no choice than to cross over." Jay sighed. "Anyways, I have heard you. But come to think of it, are their parents for real?" Jay asked. Uche sniggered. "How would I know? Na me born am?" "Real parents can't do what they've done, I'm really sure!" He hissed. "Anyhow, but they are really insane, i mean really crazy! I can't imagine my parents doing that to me, even if they aren't their parents, they shouldn't turn their backs at them!" "Oooh! Now you can feel a little of what Richard's feeling too right? That is just itty- bitty to what he feels or should better be said as what he felt during his sister's health. Guy, e no easy ooh. " Jay sighed. **** The operation would start by evening and Pemisire had donated her blood to be used immediately after the operation. She was tired already and still felt she had to stay to know how far with Richard. She had been brewing on how to contact Helen until it dropped in her mind that she could use Uche or Jay's mobile phone to call her and get her informed about the problems. She was a strong lady. Surviving that way after loosing her father and twin sister wasn't an easy thing but she had to shoulder all the pains and tribulations up to that stage. She also been cogitating on how Lawrence could get her, she had no idea, none on th way except the diary. Her own believe had been that she had nothing that could be used to trace her in the dairy, so she had no problem. The operation soon started by 8pm, Pemisire was with Richard's friends, all seated, praying to hear a good news. To be Continued

Episode 22 After some hours of the wait and patience, Doctor Martins that lead the surgery came out of the theatre with a knackered look. It wasn't easy: tearing, cleaning, administering and enclosing. He walked to meet Pemisire and the guys and smiled faintly as he approached them. "It was successful." He said after the guy had bombarded him with puzzling questions. Pemisire heaved a sigh of relief as she sank into her seat again. It had been a thing of concern to the guys on how she could be ride herd on the person she just met. She was really nice and congenial. Why wouldn't she? It was a sharp pain in her life, loosing her sister and father in the same hour. She also couldn't tell if she wouldn't join them soon because she had started hearing rumours concerning the attaché case with her. If Lawrence got hold of her, it might be her end. Relaxing her back, she licked her lower lip and glanced at the Doctor. Past memories started flashing back her mind again, remembering how she cried on Pemisayo's corpse and how Richard was shaking Christiana unremmitingly. To loose someone close to one's heart might make one loose control totally. She had got engulfed so much that nothing could change her mind about God. Yeah, some people might shoot off their mouths and pop off about his wickedness, but to her, she felt it was a man's destiny. Since she met Richard now, their first conversations had kept her stewing over frequently. She had always wanted a chance to get hold of someone to talk to about life, that was why she had been thinking God really sent her to him because of his problems. "He is resting and blood transfusion is also going on." Doctor Martins said and left them for his office, perhaps to relax and eat dinner. "Thanks so much, sister." Uche faced Pemisire, looking glad and at the same time unhappy. It was a normal mood for them then, at least the two siblings didn't pass on the same day. "I don't have to be thanked, all glory to God." Pemisire smiled. "But, it's still a thing of surprise to me, do you know him before?" Jay asked as he just picked his seat, since the Doctor left. "No, I don't." She still smiled, thinking Richard was lucky to have the friends he had. "Today is a bad day that can never be erased away from my diary. If I had my druthers, I'd bring that bright lady back to life." Uche said. "Diary.." Pemisire repeated keeping her head down and woolgathering where her diary might be. She sighed and raised her head again. "Richard must really be hurt, he is lucky to be alive, after piercing his skin that much." Soon, a nurse walked out and informed the three about the Doctor's wish to see them. The three hurried to meet him instantly. **** "Getting that lady was a very easy step, I just watch movies and criticize the writer whenever it comes to getting someone easily. It's really by luck." One of Lawrence's guys said to him. Lawrence yawned. "It's late already, I think you guys should go and rest too." The guys smiled and hastened to their feet. They were tired too, getting a big white board into the empty room wasn't an easy task that day. Lawrence had made up his mind that he would do everything to get the attaché case back before everyone would know about it. He had gotten a big white board and all other accessories that could be needed to get and track down Helen's movements and that of the attaché case after getting hold of it. He had been nodding continuously to his evil thoughts, if he should leave Pemisire untouched, she might later become an instrument of backlash to him. "We can't go to that place tomorrow. We have to plot the graph and get some other guys that might be of help." He said. "Why? Don't you think getting the attaché case will be easy? Firstly she's a lady, secondly, we have all the necessary information with us. So, it shouldn't be a tedious thing." One of them said. "Do you think a sensible person will keep that kind of thing in her friend's house? I have been painting a picture, perharps she might have gone into a bush to keep it. We have to get it, no matter what. So, we gonna research about that estate and street to know how kuch security in case an alarm is raised after our departure. Besides, we have to be masked." He expatriated. "I never knew this things will be taken this way." One of the two guys grumbled. "Don't you know we have to do everything without leaving a trace, a print? This are Mart's documents, don't you know?" The guys exhaled deeply. **** "Now, I don't think that blood will be enough for him, you guys will need to buy." Doctor informed. "I can still donate.." Pemisire said. "No, not at all. You're a lady and besides it's too early to." He smiled. Uche stared at her, she was wonderful. To be continued

Episode 23 Pemisire left the Doctor's office and waved at Uche and Jay, telling them she was leaving that night. It was past eleven in the midnight, she felt Helen might be uncomfortable without seeing her and besides, she would sleep and be able to bring Richard something to eat, the next day. "Let me go and drop you off." Jay said pushing Uche back. :Monitor everything that has to do with blood transfusion and getting blood from the bank." He told him. "Your help won't be needed, I'm really alright." She told Jay that was already approaching her with a smile. "You are a lady and besides it's very dark out there. I can't thank you enough, you are just like an angel God sent to us. By the way, what is your name?" He asked. Pemisire smiled. "I'm the unknown, you can't know my name for now." "You are beginning to scare me. Don't tell me you are really an angel from heaven or probably a ghos.." He smiled. "I'm none. When it is time, you'll know me better but for tonight, i have to go home now." "I'm serious with this, you can go out there all alone this night! Let me help!" Pemisire chuckled. "Alright, thanks." She concurred. **** Pemisire entered into the room and took off her sandals. She stretched and yawned before she reached for the brown towel hung near the wardrobe to take a cold shower. Helen had slept off before she disturbed her with creak of the door, she was sure going to explain everything to her after having her cold shower that night. "I'll be back." She informed as she walked out of the room. Helen sat up and yawned. The sleep had been disturbed already, she wasn't sure if she would sleep soon again. She picked up her phone and started punching some buttons there until Pemisire returned into the room. "Won't you sleep again?" She asked her as she enteted into the room. "Sleep? I don't think I can do that for now. By the way, what kept you this long? I think we should buy a phone tomorrow so that we can communicate properly." "Alright, maybe you should do that while I rush to the hospital tomorrow. I quit the job." She informed. "Quit? Where have you been?" Helen asked. "I ran into the guy I told you about and we went to the hospital to donate kidney for his sister but unfortunately, the lady died before the surgery." "That's sad! The guy must be totally apart now." "That would have been better but he went ahead to stab himself! It was a bad day." Helen shook her head. "The guy shouldn't have done that. So, good samaritan, you left your job because of him!" Pemisire laughed. "It was meant to be, not my own fault." They continued discussing for a while till Helen remembered Michael called her. She got Helen informed about her and his wish to come and greet them. "And are you sure it was Michael?" She asked. "Em.. Sure. Though his voice has changed but all what he said was real. Why did you ask?" "I am not comfortable with that call. Something in me tells me that wasn't Michael. My... diary! Your mobile number is in there." She remembered. "No, get this now, even if they get the mobile number, how did they know Michael? I don't know why you are always afraid." Helen laughed. "I wrote something pertaining to the three of us inside that diary, even close to where your mobile number was written. I am not sure we are safe any longer." "We are. You've written many implicating things too, I should be careful of future calls then." "You've sent the address already, why couldn't you reason that it might be me they tried to trace? I'm sure it wasn't Michael. The last time we spoke, he said he was traveling to Ghana for some years." "Maybe he just returned, who knows?" Helen added. "I know you are impervious, I pray he was the one." To be continued

Episode 24 Pemisire walked into the hospital, dressed in a simple brown gown and her pair of sandals. Her hair, though undone but was neatly packed, her face was a little oily and her legs too. She greeted the nurses at the reception and few Doctors before she checked the waiting room for Uche and Jay. She smiled on seeing only Jay on seat and approached him. "Good morning." Jay stood up and grinned. "Good morning, how was your night?" He asked. Pemisire blinked. "Short. Thanks for yesterday, God bless you." "I should be the one prostrating and thanking you." Jay grinned. "I see." She chuckled. "So what of Richard?" She asked. "He's fine, he's been expecting your arrival to thank you for the support. But, he's just been down in tears again because of his sister." He replied. "Really? It isn't easy though, has he eaten?" She asked sitting down. "He said he wasn't going to eat. Even the Doctors came and told him he must eat but he refused." Jay replied. "I brought... food." Pemisire drawled. "See you!" Jay laughed. "I'm sure he is not going to eat it." He concluded, still laughing. "Who told you? I'm sure he will eat." She smiled. "Hmmn... if he takes the food from you, then I'll have no choice tan to call you the names I called yesterday." He grinned. "Call me even worst ones, they are okay by me." She stood, smiling. "Can I see him?" She asked Jay. "Sure, let me lead you." Jay stood and led the way. **** "Summon the two other guys, there's going to be a meeting this afternoon concerning our move to Ibadan." Lawrence told his guys. "Alright boss, done already." The guys chorused. "The operation can't be done in the night, it has to be in a broad day light." He added. "I have been thinking we are going to appear there as thieves and take away the attaché case, so, why the daylight, boss?" "What if the attaché case is not inside the house? I think we have to all think together, that's why I want every hand on desk." "No problem, done already." The guys walked out. **** "Hey, Rich." Pemisire smiled in. Richard turned his head to rhe direction and smiled faintly. Though he wasn't crying, but his face was wet and it was glaring he just concluded a phase to mourning. Pemisire noticed immediately she entered and sighed. Richard was happy to see her too. It was marvellous to have her by his side just like that. He had been thinking too that he shouldn't die because he still had a lot to do on earth, after killing his parents, he then might die. "Good morning the unknown." He said. "Now you're greeting me and I'm sure you just finished crying. How are you?" She asked. "I'm better. I really appreciate you for your help, God bless you." He said. "God?" Jay chimed in, wondering if he heard the correct thing. "Did you just mention God?" He asked. Richard smiled. "Don't mind me and that man." Pemisire and Jay laughed. "I told you not to call him that man again." She cautioned. "He is still that man until I know the reason why he made my sister go through that much pains and trials. Thanks for saving my life." He added. "Hmmn... do you know you can't question him? By the way, your friends saved your life." "I thank you all. God still owe me a lot of explanations, a whole lot!" "Foolish guy." Jay chimed in again. Pemisire laughed. "Anyways, I heard you haven't eaten." She said. "He hasn't laughed too until he saw you, I said it, you are cherubic." Pemisire smiled. "I am not, I don't think I worth that word." She told Jay and faced Richard back. "I brought you food because you must eat." She said. "Who... who are you?" Richard asked slowly, looking into her eyes. "You forget things easily, I am the unknown." Pemisire replied almost immediately and grinned. Richard smiled too. "I don't know the kind of person you are. I think God purposely sent you to me." He said. Jay cleared his throat to get their attentions. "Mr man, wetin you dey talk?" Pemisire laughed. "Just sit and eat." Pemisire replied. "Then he will have to sit on this wheel chair." Doctor Martins smiled in. "Good morning Doctor." Pemisire bowed. "Yes, strong lady." He replied stretching his hand forward for a shake. He stopped the wheel chair beside Richard's bed. "This will be your help till you are really fit." He told Richard. "Wheel chair?" Jay asked. "Yes." Doctor replied. "Will you eat now?" Doctor asked him. "Yes." Richard replied. "Bad guy!" Jay laughed. Pemisire chortled. To be continued

Episode 25 **** It was two hours after, the guys summoned had gotten to the room where the secret meeting would be held. Not quite long after their arrival, Lawrence walked into the room and greeted them all. That must be one of the reasons that made him send his wife and two children abroad while he remained in Nigeria. He looked serious as he stood before them all and removed his gold-rimmed glasses on the table before him. If meeting the guys and working hard would make him get the attaché case, he was really ready to be patient. "Get everything set." He told one of his guys that headed to the laptop and punched some buttons. Pemisire's photograph was projected on the screen after the guy finished with the work on the laptop. "This picture was gotten from her profile pictures on Facebook." Lawrence said and pressed his lips together after. He was silent for a while before he continued. "To start with, the lady that sent us the address is a very close friend of the lady in question. The house is located at No 4, Omolayo Estate in Oyo State." He continued discussing with them until he picked up a marker and went to the white board. He made a point there and termed it Helen's place, he made another point there as an uncompleted mighty duplex and made the roads where they were meant to be. "From a reliable source, this can be pictured as the estate where her house is. Another thing is that the house is a rented apartment but we don't know the room for now. I hope you guys understand all I have been explaining?" He asked as he walked back to the table and dropped the marker. "Yes boss." The chorused. "The main reason why I am doing all these is because I want everything to be done neatly. I don't anything to be traced back to me at all." He said. "Yes boss." They replied him. "Now, let's get to businsss. From the look of things, I don't think our mission is inside that rented apartment. A place where she must have hidden it might be the uncompleted building." He said. One of the guys stood up. "I don't think so, and, is the uncompleted building on hold or are labourers still working there?" He asked. "No, it's been on hold for a while so I think she might have kept it there." He replied. "I don't think so, she must have kept it in a more secured place. And, she is new there, don't you think the case might be with someone she trusts so much?" "No. Her father didn't make her and her twin sister mix with his own family and that of her mother. I don't think she has anyone apart from Helen." "Alright." The guy replied and sat down. "So, when do we go?" He asked his guys. There was a brief silence. **** "When will he be discharged?" Jay asked the Doctor. "Anytime soon. I want him to respond to treatment well before letting him go for a while then he returns for us to complete the post operation." He replied. "Alright." Jay replied. "I have eaten enough." Richard said as he closed the flask. "I thought you were going to finish the food, glutton." Jay said, smiling. Pemisire laughed. "You are really funny!" "Should you be saying that? Instead of you to be caring, foolish boy." Richard said. "So, what should I have said?" Jay hissed. "A weldone should suffice." He replied, smiling. "Weldone? Na which job you come do?" Jay laughed. Richard frowned now. A moment when he tried to be cheerful but his sister's death would make him go down again. "How do we bury her." He asked, ready to start crying. "Richard! Just rest, I'll go and check on Doctor Kate now." Pemisire said. "Just don't start thinking, remember you have to rest and put your mind at peace because you just concluded a surgery." Doctor Martins told Richard. "Let's move him back to the bed." He added, taking to Jay. "No, I'd prefer if you allow me go there to check on my sister." He started crying. "No! You can't be going around now and besides you really need to rest!" Jay affirmed. "Rest? Jay, I want to see her!" He shouted. "You can't shout! Your internal organs need to rest for the wound to heal as quick as possible. Please, just sleep." Doctor Martins said. "Doctor, I want to see Christiana." He said again. "I think I should confess now, I spoke with Doctor Kate earlier, she.. she has been taken to the..mortuary." Jay stammered. "No!" Pemisire squinted her face. "Christie!" Richard bellowed. **** To be continued

Episode 26 "How do we bury her?" Pemisire asked Jay. "I don't know, he will be the one to tell. But, I don't want him to be there while burying her." Jay replied. Pemisire snorted. "It will tear him apart. So, when did they move her?" "Today. That was why Doctor Kate called me because of the money that would be paid at the mortuary. Now, she has to be buried as soon as possible because they take money everyday." He replied. "I don't wish to ask him but I think the best place is.. a cemetery. Do you know we have no choice but to ask him?" She snifled. Jay sighed. "Yeah, the earlier, the better." Jay replied. "What of that guy.. the other friend.?" She asked. "Don't mind him, spending a whole year to get Richard's clothes." He hissed. **** "We will move next week Friday." Lawrence said, walking around the room slowly. "Boss, don't you think that is too far? The earlier the better, Boss." One of he guys objected. "I think everything should be done in that Oyo State, we have to lodge in a place where we won't be noticed so we can go check on the street well before the operation and after the operation, if she doesn't want to release the documents, we have to kidnapp her to torture her well." He explained. "I reason with you boss, we have to get that done." Another said. Lawrence smiled. "We always have to think well and vey fast. So, I'll start making the moves on where we are going to lodge in, where we might put her if she wouldn't release the documents." "That is easy now, a hotel." One of the guys stood up and spoke. "How can we do that in the hotel? What if she raises an alarm or if the hotel has hidden cameras!" He shouted. "So, I'll rent a house for the operation. If she's silly and we are lucky enough, the documents might be inside that house, we just take it and waste her. If we aren't lucky, it might take days because she must tell us where the documents are before we waste her." He told them. "Yes boss." "So, start getting set. It might be an easy game, also a tough one." He laughed wickedly. **** Pemisire walked into Richard's ward and sat on the plastic chair beside his bed. "What would you like to drink?" She asked. "I'm alright." He replied. After the meal, his mood had been disturbed by the remembrance of his sister. He couldn't help himself too, it was just like a fresh wound that might take time to heal. Having his sister smiling, laughing was all that had always made him glad, seeing her corpse was the worst thing in his life. June 12, a day of remembrance. "I can prepare you a cup of tea." She said. "Unknown, I'm already fine." Richard replied her. Richard's phone buzzed. He picked up the call from the unknown number and waited patiently to hear the voice. "My.. my son." He heard the woman's voice. "Son? Please, who's this?" He asked. "You've forgotten your mother's voice right? It's me, it's your mother. Richard how are you and your sister?" "What?" Richard ended the call. "What nonsense! That was her voice!" He exclaimed, frowning his face. "I hope there's no problem." Pemisire said. Richard glanced at her. "You are now more than a friend, more than a companion and more than a helper. I don't know you from anywhere, so you don't too. Even though, you've been great and kind. I think that was my useless mother." He replied her. "Useless?" Pemisire sprung to her feet. "Never call her that again! No matter what has happened, never call your mother a bad name!" E Pemisire shouted. "She really is." Richard said, already crying. "She's not a mother among mothers, not a guardian among guardians, she's nothing but a useless one!" Richard repeated squeezing tears out. "No!" Pemisire sat down again, going down in her tears. "It...it's wrong." She stuttered as she started crying too. "Why are you crying? Because I called her a useless mother? Honestly, that's what she is! She's not a mother but a killer!" Richard burst out more. "No!" Pemisire repeated. "You still have a mother, if I had, I don't think I'll be in this state." She added. "But unknown, her death is better than her living body. If she had died immediately after giving birth to Christiana, it wouldn't have been better than living without impact!" He said. "A mother is a mother, no matter what." Pemisire wiped her tears. "Not in this stage, not now! Why on earth is she calling me after she killed Christina? I'm an orphan, no father, no mother. I'm better that way than having foolish parents." "Richard!" Episode 27 PEMISIRE HAD BEEN THINKING on how she could wash down her despondency, and that of Richard but no idea came up. She had tried to calm herself and had succeeded in doing that, Richard was just left still crying on the hospital bed there. "I have told you before, there is no God." Richard said, pressing his lips together after. "I don't want to start arguing on this again, you know yourself that he exists." Pemisire replied. Richard turned his head toward her and smiled faintly. "Where was he when I needed his help? Where was he when everything became tough? Have you ever wondered why you worked as a Bartender?" He asked her. There was a brief silence for a while before Pemisire replied. "Richard, I do. Maybe because of you, who knows?" "No! He worths to be questioned. Why are some people rich and some very poor?" He asked further. "Your questions can only be answered later. When the time comes, you will know. By the way, when will you call your mother again to speak with her?" Richard hissed as he turned his back at her. "I am not ready for any atrocious woman." "You should be passionate to the unpassionates, good to the bad." Pemisire said. "Em... Unknown, you don't know this woman, do you? She sent me out of her house all the time I went there and until I picked the urgent call that led to my accident." He said. "Forgive the person who doesn't worth it, you have to be kind." Pemisire told him. Richard gave a soft chuckle and shook his head. "I have a problem with you, it's this problem of lack of understanding. Can you forgive someone who killed your sister?" He asked. Pemisire stood at once and turned her back at him. Though, the guy was just saying his own, he never knew Pemisire had lost her sister. Pemisire soughed and faced Richard. "I think I have to leave now, I want to catch a friend of mine." She said. "It is not that I wish you sister death, I was only expressing my mind, hope it's not that you're angry with me." He faced her too. "No." Pemisire forced a smile. "What is no? You were more cheerful than now, you must be angry." "No, what you said and my departure are coeval. Don't think I'm leaving because of that." She replied. "You don't look like a Bartender, you speak eloquently. What made you take up that job?" Richard asked her. "If God wants you to know, I'm sure you will know soon." She smiled and waved as she walked out. **** "It wasn't easy because today is Sunday." Helen informed Pemisire. "Really? So how much did you buy the phone?" Pemisire asked Helen as she sat down on the bed and admired the phone. "I hope you know that's not a new phone, it's been used by someone before. So, I think you should be using my MTN sim that I don't use any longer." Helen told her. "Really? That's cool, at least it will safe hundred naira or more." She smiled. "Yeah, hope you like the phone." Pemisire smiled. "I have no choice, fairly used mobile phone. Anyways, I love it." She replied. "Thanks, you won't lack anything good." She added. "Abeg! It's because of you that I cancelled Church-going, you should prepare me what to eat." "Get me the sim as soon as possible, let me start getting set to prepare the food." She stood up. "Yeah." Helen stood up to get her sim card for Pemisire. She had used it before she couldn't find it again and now found it some weeks before then. **** MONDAY. "So, Doctor, when will he be discharged?" Jay asked Doctor Martins. "He should be discharged on Wednesday. He is now really better, just want to watch him till then." He replied. "I hope this is not a type that he will keep sitting on the wheelchair till everything would be fine." Uche chimed in, stroking his beard. Doctor laughed. "I can't say for now, he might be discharged tomorrow or Wednesday. But, all I can say is that he must not engage in anything stressful for a month, he should take his drugs regularly, eat and relax." He told them. "Alright sir." The guys looked at each other and echoed. -------- Jay and Uche were heading to Richard's ward when they saw Pemisire approaching. "Hey." Jay waved first, smiling. "Hey Jay. Uche, it took you years to get the clothes yesterday, isn't it?" She asked, trying to be familiar with the guys. Uche sniggered. "You! You're alo accusing me? I got stucked in the traffic." He replied. "Traffic? On Sunday?" She laughed. "So, how are you?" Jay asked. "How's Richard?" She asked her own question. "We are heading there." Uche said. "I hope he has stopped crying. Anyways, I'll see for myself." She said, turning back to lead the way. It was in the afternoon, the lunch time of Uche and Jay. It was an opportunity seized by them to quickly check on Richard. "What do you do for a living?" Jay asked her as they walked on. "You should have asked your friend." She said, dismissing the question with a wave of left hand. "Rich!" Pemisire smiled as she approached the bed. "Hmmn...lustrous, glowing, shinning, flickering set of teeth." Richard smiled. "King of wheedlers!" Pemisire chuckled and sat down. "Foolish guy, have you ever qualified me that way?" Jay bustled in. "Ha! I'm still looking forward to seeing the bright sun of that day." Richard smiled. "Which day? What is your friend talking about?" Uche asked. "You know he's been lying down for long, who knows?" He laughed. "Looking forward to seeing the day you guys would be sensible. If you had white teeth, I'd have told you, but you have nothing better than what you have there." Pemisire was impressed. She never knew she'd meet Richard in that cheerful mood. She wanted to ask how he was when she glanced at her phone and rushed up to another side. "It is the useless phone you bought, not my fault." She told Helen on the call. "I said I didn't! It was the work of the useless phone. Only God knows where you got the thing from." She laughed as she replied Helen. "Greet your students, bye." She said and walked back to Richard's place. "Can you see our friend has turned his back at us because of you?" Jay said, contorting his mouth. "What's my own business?" She smiled. "Take care of our Richard, we have to leave." Uche said as he stretched his hand forward to get Jay's attention. "We have to leave, we suppose dey go now.. " "Yeah, we will be back soon." Jay said as he waved at them. **** Lawrence and his guys just got to Ibadan in his Nisaan Jeep, trying to trace where Omolayo Estate was. continues...

Episode 28 IT WAS TUESDAY MORNING, Pemisire just finished dressing up when Helen was ready to leave for school too. She smiled as she waved at her, picking up her handkerchief. Just then, Helen walked back in, smiling and winking at Pemisire as she picked up her call. "Michael." She said softly as she conversed with the guy on phone. Pemisire cleared her throat and leaned against the wall as Helen made her call. It was after some minutes she concluded the call and grinned up to Pemisire. "He said he'd be here very soon." She said. Pemisire hissed dryly. "Honestly, I have forgotten you made a call the other day, didn't he tell you the actual day he would be here?" She asked. "He asked after you and said he'd be here very soon." She replied. "Honestly, I think we are in danger." She said. Helen snorted as she smiled. "You think so? Do you think it is a lie?" "I know this a lie! See Helen, I think we should leave this house as soon as possible." "What is Pemisire saying? You've taken this issue serious, why?" Helen hissed, frowning. Pemisire scratched her head. "This is serious, honestly. I have something in me telling me we are in danger. You've leaked the secret." "I didn't! I only told him you've been here, that's all." "Didn't I tell you not to tell anyone?" "Anyhow." She hissed and waved her hand. "Anyways, I have to go and see Richie." Pemisire picked up her bag. "Richard's wife." Helen pulled out her tongue and laughed. "But, give me his mobile number." Pemisire brought out her phone. Helen handed her the phone and flicked her hand to check what the time was. "I'm running late." She said. "I'm through too." She gave her the phone back and both walked out. **** "Now, things are going on smoothly, I think we can strike tomorrow instead of Friday." Lawrence told his guys. "Yes boss. What is the schedule for today?" One of his guys enquired. "Visiting the Estate again, to ask for their room." He replied. "But sir, the money we've spent so far is very much, I still see the possibility of we spending more." One of them complained. "Yeah. To get a house to rent, within just a day is not a small things, also the way we've planned everything. But, the documents we have come for will make even my tenth generation not to suffer." He grinned. "I ought to leave everything to you guys but I have to be here to see for myself." He laughed. "So, let's keep hoping and preparing to strike tomorrow." He said, nodding continuously. ---------------- "Who are you? Please tell me." Richard asked Pemisire as she sat beside him. "I don't know the number of times you want me to tell you I am the unknown." She smiled. "Is it because you care so much because of me that has made you come early or you ran away from home? How have you been coping, leaving your house when your parents and siblings are around?" He asked her. "Did I tell you I have parents?" Sher said taking her face away. "Really? Please tell me your name. For you to have left your Bartendering job because of me, I wish to know you more." Pemisire laughed. "I am the unknown, that's all." She replied. "I am sure my friends must be preparing to go to work now, but you are here taking care of me. I appreciate you." Richard said. "I told you earlier, maybe God purposely let us meet for me to let you know of his existence and let you know you have to forgive all those who have sinned against you, even when difficult." Richard smiled. "You are twisting the discussion again." Pemisire laughed. "The Doctor has assured me that I'll be discharged this morning. I wish to bury my sister today." He said, changing the mood. Pemisire sniffled. "Just.. be patient, take everything easy. I don't want you to start crying. I will help you start the preparations now, I think I should check on Doctor Kate." She stood up. "Thanks so much, I appreciate you." He said, trying not to cry. Pemisire smiled faintly. "ALL is well." -------------

Episode 29 Pemisire sat down beside Richard and handed him her handkerchief. She just returned from Doctor Kate to know about Christie. "I know it isn't easy, but you have to be patient." She replied. "You know it is not easy? As if you've passed this stage before. God is still merciful to you." Pemisire smiled. "Let me tell you a story about a set of twins." She sighed and stood up, turning her back at him. "The two were close, ate together, did buy clothes together, shared love and everything together with their only father. The two lost their mother when they were little to Cancer, lived all along without a mother. The father was rich, influential and really, he was popular. He did all he could do, by not marrying another wife, a nanny or anyone else. See, the family became one that even if someone wasn't around, others would not eat. Now, it was on a cold night that the family was killed but just one of the twins could run away. What do you expect her to do? Loosing the mother, father and even twin sister?" She said wiping her own tears too. "Don't tell me this is your story." Richard said as he ,managed to sit down. He was in pain but could risk his wound to sit because of her. Pemisire turned around and looked into his eyes. "Can you be trusted?" She asked as she wiped her tears again. "About you? I can keep anything, you are more than a sister to me." He replied. Pemisire burst into tears again as she spoke. "I am the only one left." She told him. "No! Tell me this is not true, tell me it is a lie!" "This is true, I tell you this is for real." "How have you been managing? You are a strong lady, rich in glamour, great in knowledge, I still can't believe it." He was shocked. "It all happened in less than a month now. I was down! I was broken apart! Richard, I lost Pemisayo and my Dad to the hands of a evil man because of something precious." Richard found himself crying for her. "Until you get to another person's farm, you won't know your's is even small compared to another's." He said. "You have to lie down, you know the wound is still fresh. I beg of you, don't cry any longer." She sniffed as she wiped her own tears too. "So, if I may ask. What is your name?" Richard asked. PEMISIRE, she answered. **** "Why would you be discharged as early as this? I never knew it would be as early as this." Uche said. "The Doctor said there has been a drastic improvement and besides my own case isn't bad, if not, I wouldn't have been allowed to eat for three days, would have been taking drips." He replied. "But at first, he painted it as if it was something so great.|" Jay hissed. Richard smiled. "How has been the office?" He asked. "Nice." He replied. "Where is the unknown?" Uche asked. "She went home to do something important." He replied. "The unknown's husband." Jay laughed. "Anyhow." Richard hissed. "Guys, you won't be able to return back to the office, we have something drastic to do." He told them. "Like?" Uche asked. "We are burying her very soon." He replied. Jay sighed and sat down. His mood had changed already. "Don't you think this can be handled when you are completely alright?" He asked him. "The earlier, the better. The earlier, the memory fades away." Richard replied. "Yeah, but where is the place?" Uche asked. "This hospital's cementry." He replied. "No problem, all is well." Jay sighed again. ----------- Richard and his friends got out of the hospital. He was already better then. The Doctor just left them, telling them the dos and don'ts concerning the injury. "Many Doctors like to allow patient stay in the hospital for about a week after the surgery for monitoring but I see you've responded to treatment and your internal organs weren't affected. There was no internal bleeding, that is why I am releasing you to leave. Besides, you have a lot people beside you and they are caring. The more you stay here, the more the money to be paid and I know your status." The Doctor told them. Christiana had been buried already. Tears of pain, sorrowful minds and wail that all would miss one another filled the air, during the burial. Richard's friend did all they could to make sure all was coordinated well and done that afternoon so they would forget soon and Richard would be able to rest at home. Doctors Kate and Esther were also present during the course, it was like she should come back to life. "I really thank you." Richard said to Pemisire. "All is well." She smiled. "Let me have your mobile number." He said. Pemisire dictated and hopped into the car with them. "You should at least follow me home." Richard said, managing to laugh though he was still picturing how his sister was buried. "No problem." "The Director said we should see him now." Uche sai as he dropped his phone. "That means you guys will be at home, we will be back soon." Jay said and sped off. *******

Episode 30 Pemisire admired Richard's living room as she stepped in the room had butter yellow walls, white crown moulding, red sofa and two red gingham checked chairs with decorations which include vases, decoys, moose and bear figures, a hand carved bear, wooden moose, planter, pine cones, a potpourri bowl, coasters, glass table tops in the living room. "This place is great!" Richard smiled. "Please, sit." He said, lying down on the sofa. "Now, you've been enjoying here too." She smiled. "What do you want to eat?" He asked her. "Eat? I can't laugh." She laughed. Richard chuckled. "Just tell me, I'll prepare anything." He grinned. Pemisire smiled. She had a flashback of how she was crying with Richard when they were at Christiana's grave. "Hmmn... have you called your mother?" "Pemisire, don't!" He rebuffed. "No, you have to do that." She said. "I'm not going to forgive that woman, I won't!" He hissed. "Richard." She said and picked up her phone. "It's this useless phone, I don't have it's time." She said as she picked up Helen's call. "I'll soon be at home, hope everything is still intact?" She asked. "Alright, later." She said and ended the call. **** "Pemisire." Richard called her name softly. "Yes." Pemisire replied. "I'll soon be living." She said. Richard cleared his throat. "I really appreciate you for all you help so far. May God bless you for me." He said. Pemisire laughed. "For you? God will bless me myself. And, wait oh, did you just mention God?" She grinned. "Don't mind me and that man, your story has made me cool down." She chuckled. "You haven't heard of anything! I don't know how soon I'm going to die too.." Richard's eyes widened. "What? What are you saying to yourself?" Pemisire laughed. "I am serious about this, that man that killed my parents can come for me." She replied. Richard exhaled. "He must be dealt with! What has your family done for him?" He asked. Richard, you won't understand." She waved her hand. "No! Tell me the reality. I need to know what the problem actually is, what have you guys done to that fool?" He was becoming more serious. Pemisire sighed. "Richard, who else is at home?" She enquired, her eyes darting round the living room. "My friends and I live here, just you and I are in the house." He replied. "I wish to tell you this because I might die soon too."She replied, making everything more serious. "I told you not to say that!" He hit his thigh softly. "He wants... how can I trust you?" She asked, gazing at him. Richard chuckled. "Believe me, even my sister's picture that is in my room won't hear this." He replied, smiling. Pemisire laughed. She started explaining her story to Richard as she stood up, walking round the living room. Richard had fixed his eyes on her too, like a goat expecting an owner to leave his things for it. It was quite heartrending to him too. He never knew he had been with someone with a greater problem but had no problem because she ad forsaken them to God. He kept on sighing until he spoke again. "Now, do you still wish to sleep in that house tonight?" Richard asked her. "Yeah, I have no choice, no othe place to go." He replied. "As you've said, I promise no one will hear this, not even my best friends. But, if I get you somewhere to stay for a while, will you stay there?" Richard asked her. Pemisire smiled. "Sure." She replied. "Jay's sisters have their own apartment, you can go and stay there for a while. Maybe you will move there on Friday because i have to tell my friends about it but not about the secret. I am sure they'll let you." He told her. "That is also good, I can." She replied. "Yeah. He is the only son, with three sisters as his siblings. So, the three ladies have a house where they all live in, it was bought by their parents. They have reasonable and good parents, unlike me." "Don't say that. It is either that they are not your parents or... I don't know but you still have to be patient and have a forgiving spirit." "But, can you trust me up to a level? Can you bring the documents for me to keep in my wardrobe here, locked up and safe from anyone. A rented apartment is even bad to keep such a thing, anyone can barge in at anytime and take anything away. Even if robbers rob us here, they can't take it because they will think it contains just ordinary documents." Richard said. Pemisire sighed and scratched her head. She began to think, wasn't he right that it might be stolen in that house, even before the appearance of Lawrence? Vital documents shouldn't be taken out just anyhow. She believed Richard was the best to be trusted at that time. "Expect me, tonight." She said and hurried out. It began to look like a reality, what if they steal the attache case before getting home? ------------------

Episode 31 PEMISIRE GREETED HELEN AS SHE CAME INTO THE HOUSE, she checked where they kept the attache case and brought it out. "Girl, I smell danger!" She said, ready to leave the house. "Wait, where do you now want to keep it?" Helen asked her. "With Richard." She replied. "Girl, don't put your trust in just anyone, it is very risky." Helen stood up. Pemisire shook her head. "With the little time I have spent with that guy, I am sure he is not a fake. I am sure he will keep it as a secret and can't betray me." She replied. Helen frowned. "See, I still don't want you to trust him that much. You just met like a week or so, why would you trust him to the extent of these documents?" Pemisire smiled. "I called that guy today and it didn't look like Michael's voice at all!" "His voice might have changed, we can't tell." She replied her. "We will discuss better, I have to leave before the arrival for his friends." She said and rushed out. I pray this girl won't run into trouble, why would she trust someone this much! Though, I haven't met the guy but I am sure the guy must be making her go crazy. But, wasn't that Michael? It's been a while we saw, his voice might have changed. If we call her now, her useless phone will just be wasting my airtime, picking up itself even before the owner of the ears the ringing tone. She hissed as she lamented. **** "Boss, are we striking early or late?" One of the guys asked Lawrence. Lawrence tweaked his nose and swooshed out a long breath. "I think morning should be the best because they might leave the house after." He said, still thinking. "Are you guys sure you asked well and you were told their room is the third one to the left?" He asked them. "Yes boss." they echoed. "So, we should be there very early to check if the attache case is in that room, if not, we will carry the two ladies to the uncompleted building found near the bush there to beat until they tell us where the attache case is." He said, looking down. "So, be preparing. Tomorrow is the D-day." He swooshed out a long breath again. "Yes boss." **** "Your friends are not back?" Pemisire asked Richard as she entered into Richard's place again. "They are not, who prays for their arrival in the next twenty minutes? We have to get this one done before their arrival." He stood up gently. "I hope the pains have subsided." She said. "Yes, thanks." He collected the attache case and walked into the house. Richard returned after few minutes. "Trust me, it is safe." He smiled. "I do, though no one is to be trusted." She smiled. Richard chuckled softly and laid down again. "But, you should know me, if I lay my hands on that man.." He hissed. Pemisire laughed. "What will you do?" The man wil just fling you away." She continued laughing. "But whenever I am totally annoyed, I can devour a person!" He laughed. "I have to leave now, it is getting late. Say me well to your friends." She stood up. "Ladies!" Richard shook his head and smiled. "What again?" Pemisire laughed. "I am sure if what you just said is to be written down, it won't have a comma, not even a full stop." Both laughed. "I really want to return as quick as possible. I am just getting familiar with Ibadan." She smiled. "What is the name of your friend?" He asked. "Helen." She replied. "Say me well to her and thanks so much, I'll be forever grateful." He waved. Pemisire waved back, not knowing it might be the last time of waving to him, a man's destiny. ***** "You didn't act well." Helen accused Pemisire as she entered into the house. "See, Helen, I have to pray to God. I mean a serious one for him to protect me for the two nights I am still going to spend here. In fact, when I leave, you have to leave this place too!" She said, sprawling on the bed. "Why would I leave? You should be patient! Who told you that wasn't Michael? His voice might have changed." She said. "What voice? Have you forgotten he is into music? He inspired me! We have spoken many times until I lost his contact when he left for Ghana." She replied. "So, Richard has found you a new place to live, right?" She asked. "See, Helen, I don't want this to cause a fight or disagreement between us. I know you before i got to know that guy called Richard. You are the greatest person that can keep my secret that is why you are my first suspect when it comes to Lawrence and his guys. They might have found your contact! Who knows if they have been spying since you sent them the address? You have to know this too." "I am just thinking straight. It is true! I will have to call our so-called Michael tomorrow to ask him some questions if he would get it." "You should have done that even before now! You should have asked him!" "I believe all is well. Lawrence and his foolish guys will all die!" She hissed. "I am hungry." She sat up. "I thought your husband should have given you food." Helen chuckled. Pemisire laughed. ****

Episode 32 WEDNESDAY MORNING. It was six am, Helen had been woken by her alarm clock and Pemisire likewise. Both were getting set to start preparing for their outings that day when they heard soft knocks at the door. They glanced at each other and faced the door, none of them was expecting a visitor that early morning. "Who is there?"Helen stood to get the door, putting on her slippers. "T.j" The male voice replied. "T.j?" Helen hissed and opened the door for the guy, hoping to see the real T.j as said but not the T.j she knew. "Please who are you?" She asked. "Ssh.."The guy held his lips for a moment before some other guys came in and locked up the door. "Where are the documents?" A husky voice spoke from behind. "Documents?" Pemsire muttered under her breath and scratched her head gently. That was what she had presumed, she could see it coming her way already. This is death. She kept saying until another voice thundered. "Where are they?" The two ladies maintained their taciturnity for a moment until the guys started their ultimate search and found nothing like the attache case, not to talk of the documents in it. The room had been made topsy-turvy in short time. "Get everything done." One of them commanded. The deed was done instantly. **** "The planned place, boss." One of Lawrence's guys said on call before he ended the call. It was some minutes to seven am, they have gotten to the uncompleted building planned to be used for their evil operation. "Just tie the ladies." One of the guys said, picking his seat. "What did the boss say?" They all started discussing between each other as some of them got Helen and Pemisire tied up to the pillars where they were, expecting Lawrence then. Few minutes after Helen and Pemisire were tied up, Lawrence appeared in his native and gold-rimmed glasses. "How far about them?" He asked as he came in. "They have refused to talk, we searched the whole room but there was no document in there." They explained. "One thing is just that did you do everything as planned? I hope there was no trace!" He said, moving closer to Pemisire and Helen. "Yes boss. I said it, I said I heard it when one guy was knocking at a door in that house yesterday and was calling T.j" One of them spoke. "So you guys eventually used T.j?" He grinned. "Yes Boss." They chorused. Lawrence laughed. "Where is the attache case?" He approached the ladies. Pemisire kept staring at him, breathing heavily. Helen was downcast, she couldn't speak too." "Are you deaf?!" He pulled Pemisire's head up by pulling her hair wickedly. Pemisire groaned. "She knows nothing about it, you should leave my friend." She said. Lawrence laughed. "Are you mad|?" He frowned and released her hair. "If you refuse to tell me where you put the documents, I am going to send you to..." Pemisire interrupted. "Do I look I care too? I wish to die too, IO wish to see my twin sister! Death is something I am not afraid of, I am not scared and not moved to an inch!" Another hot slap landed on her cheek. "Do you think you've started suffering? This place has been secured, don't think you can run away, you will suffer till you die if you fail to tell me the reality." "Everyone will still die, the time is just different! You killed your best friend, you killed my innocent twin sister, you destroyed my joy and peace, what else should I be afraid of?" Lawrence laughed again. "I see that you don't fear death but do you know death is better than some treatments sometime?" He questioned her. "Pemisire..." Helen called her name. "Don't speak there!" She shouted. "Let me talk..." To be continued

Episode 33 "You can't talk here, what's your problem?" Pemisire shouted at her "Do you want me to die? I am afraid of death." She said softly. "That is a good thing. If this.. I think you are the Helen, if you wish to talk, don't worry you will be freed." He said moving toward her. "I don't know.." She said as Lawrence stood before her. "Do you think we are here to play? See guys, if they refuse to talk, torture them!" He commanded. "Yes boss." "I'll be leaving in a moment, when it is 12pm and none of them fail to tell you, kill the two, to hell with you!" He turned back indignantly. "Now, where are the documents?" The guys swum them like bees. "Kill me! Even if she tells you where the document is, she doesn't know the actual place. Kill me!" Pemisire said. "Is this one insane? I can shoot you!" He said and pulled out a gun. "Do you think that is a new thing? How did you terminate my parent's lives? Either you kill me or excruciate me, I'll still keep my secret to myself." "This girl is seeming too bold for her age, I don't have time for any nonsense, is she mad?" One of the came closer and slapped her again. In no time, the guys started their work of beating them up so as to tell them where the documents are. After some minutes of torture, they stopped to ask them where the documents were. Then, Pemisire was focused on because she was the one who knew the nook and cranny of the documents. She had started bleeding, the guys didn't pity the lady in them, they didn't act as if they were beating ladies up until they were satisfied. "No!" Pemisire said as she was pouring out blood from her mouth. She glanced at Helen and still smiled in her problem. "If it is my destiny to die, I know I will." She said. "Why has she been adamant? You don't fear death? You don't care?" One of them said, laughing slightly. "Where are the documents?" He asked her again. "How many times do you want me to tell you?" "I pity no man! If not for the Boss' command, I'd have killed you. I am waiting for twelve pm before i send you to your grave." **** "I have cooked rice for you, it has been packaged on the dining, make sure you eat!" Uche told Richard as he sat beside him. He looked into his eyes and saw that he had been crying. He sighed and scratched his head. "Richard, did you sleep at all?" He asked him. He was mute as he picked up the best of his sister's photograph and stared at it again. "Go to your place of work, I will eat my food." He told him. "Can you do me a favour by giving me this picture with you?" Richard gave him. "Do you think I still don't have a whole lot? I thank God she wasn't inflicted with a disease people would have been running away from her, I thank God she didn't go crazy before her death. Thank God for her kind of death, even though there were pains." Uche smiled. "I don't know where God sent that lady from, I am sure she did all these to you! If not, you'd be abusing God." "I don't have a choice." He smiled faintly. "Go to work now before the Director threatens you." He patted Uche. "Okay, bye." Uche grinned and walked out." **** 10AM. "Have they told you?" Lawrence stormed in again. "No boss." They echoed. Lawrence became frustrated. "Are you mad?!" He yelled, breathing heavily. "Don't spare them! We will waste them if they can't offer anything!" "Boss when are we going?" One of the guys asked. "I even almost missed my way the other time, this their Ibadan is annoying. How can they be calling a place Iwo road when and it is far from this our [b Ogo Oluwa Estate. We will leave when we finish killing them." "I am strict with time, you have less than two hours to die!" One of them announced. 11AM. "Just an hour to go!" One of the guys proclaimed. Helen glanced at Pemisire and smiles slightly. "We are going to die for real, Pemisire." She said. "I don't think I have a choice, you are the one that still have a choice. Tell them the truth but they can't get Richard." She replied. "Really?" She asked. "No! I see no possibility of you being released because you've known their secret now." She said. "See, that's exactly what I have been thinking too. I caused it all, if you die, we should go along." "I wish a miracle can happen, I wish someone should just appear and set us free." "What are you saying? Planning to run away?" A guy approached them. Pemisire hissed. "I don't care." She said. "Talk back you can, your life is about to end, anyways." He laughed monstrously. Pemisire smiled. "Have they talked?" Lawrence came in again. The other guys came of the small place where they have been, to meet their boss. "None." One said. "Alright, since morning! I see that you really wish to die but I won't hesitate to kill you. I got some slow and painful ways to die, you will soon tell me the truth." He moved closer. "What is it sir?" One of the guys asked. "Untie them! I am sure they will confess now." He smiled. The two ladies were untied. Pemisire was very tired, she stood at the same spot and looked backward, it was an opening that had not be closed. She could see a big soak-away down there and quickly raised up her head. "Go and get me the kegs of water and buckets at the back of my car." He told his guys. The guys were going when they heard multiple voices. "Freeze!" Lawrence looked back instantly and saw five armed policemen coming toward them. He brought out the gun with him instantly and rushed to meet Pemisire as his hostage. He held her by the neck and pointed the gun to her head. "If you shoot, she dies!" He shouted. Just then, Richard walked up and joined the policemen. "Pemisire!" He shouted her name. "I repeat, if you try to move closer, she dies!" The policemen stood firmly too and still pointed the gun at him. Suddenly a gunshot was heard. ------- "Pemisire!" Richard shouted shivering already, but Lawrence fell. His eyes widened as Lawrence was trying to fall and pushed Pemisire away. It seemed he had been shot by the Policemen that were downstairs, behind him. Pemisire lost control due to the gunshot and the push and fell too, just down the building to the open soak-away she saw ealier. Just then, they all heard a splash. Richard ran to the place and saw that it was a soak-away that was there. "Pemisire!" He shouted as he ran back. "It seemed she fell inside the soak- away." He shouted. The policemen stood firmly, still pointing the guns at the remaining guys when Richard rushed down the stairs to go and check. He got there and didn't meet the policemen that shot. He kept staring at the big soak-away filled to the brim and tears rolled down his cheeks. "Pemisire!" He screamed. "Pemisire!" Helen too screamed as she ran downstairs to meet Richard. Then, the policemen downstairs that had gone into hiding, after shooting Lawrence came out. "We heard a splash, how can we get her out now? Soak-aways are usually deep, she must have reached down there." "No-o-o-o!!" Richard screamed and seated on the floor. "We must go together!" He rushed up. The policemen got hold of him instantly, then Lawrence's guys were matched downstairs and Lawrence that was shot by his leg. He was still alive. **** *****

Episode 34 Richard had broken down in tears, he raised up his head to question God as usual when he saw Pemisire hanging on to a wood that came out from the house. It was a long wood and another one, near it and both placed side by side. A wooden platform was on the two woods which the bricklayers can stay on, while plastering the house. He could see some blocks on the the wooden platform as well, he rushed up as he screamed her name. "Pemisire! That is her!" He rushed up, and the policemen also. Some stood downstairs, near the soak-away in case anything happens again. Richard neglected his wound and stretch forth his hand to help her. He could see her tired and bleeding already. "Let us help." The policemen said. "No, I'll do it myself." He said, staying near the extreme where he could also fall. "Bring your hand." He said, breathing heavily because of his race to the place. He grabbed her right hand at last but had little strength to pull her up. "Try harder." Helen kept saying from behind. The policemen joined for help, it was a very risky place for them all. Pemisire was pulled back to the upper floor as she laid on the floor and Richard laid on the floor likewise, placing his hand on the stitched wound and crying. He stretched his left hand forward to hold Pemisire and Pemisire likewise. Both held their hands, and the other policemen who stood near the soak-away rushed up too. "So, how far?" One of the policemen asked the others. "She is fine, the blocks on the platform must have fallen instead the soak-away, she wasn't the one." One of them replied. "Wao! If not for the wood that was there, but it is rare for her to have clung on to the wood that came out from the house. Thank God." "That man is a bastard!" They all kept talking until the carried the two, heading to the hospital. **** It had been a thing of concern to Helen on how Richard got to know they were there. She was dying to ask but the situation on ground had kept her mute, though unstable. She could pay anything to know how he got to know, it was still like a dream as she kept remembering that scene where the policemen came in. She was also on her hospital bed, receiving treatment from the shock and beatings from the guy. She kept praying for everything to work out well so she could see Richard and ask him how he got to know. It was more than a dream. To be continued

Episode 35 PEMISIRE. It's all about destiny, how did Richard manage to know where I was? God is really great! He's really awesome. I thought it was really my end, I thought all was over but as I have always said it, he reigns! There are some things that are unbelievable, the fact that I didn't fall into that pit that would terminate my life almost instantaneously. At last, I am now free! Lawrence has been caught, his guys have been caught too. Father thank you. **** Richard Thank you God for the kind of phone you provided for Pemisire, I know you did it on purpose! I can now see that your existence is real! I can now see that you are marvellous to those who your mercies shine on, it is a privilege to have you. At first, I hate you, but now I really love you. But, I still don't know why you killed the only one that brought me joy, you have your wish but you should have been lenient. If not for her mobile phone that picked up itself and made me hear that evil man's voice and where they were, I am sure he must have killed the ladies, even the one that brings me joy now. Thank God for that phone. **** EVENING. JAY AND UCHE stormed into the hospital after receiving the call from Richard concerning the incidence. They became worried nothing bad had happened to them. They were at the reception when they were directed to meet Richard in his ward. ... "Richard!" Jay called him, looking so serious. "Guy!" Richard smiled. "How are you now?" Uche and Jay approached him. "It was deadly! Those guys were serious." He sighed. Jay smiled. "I heard the lady is Pemisire. How is she?" He asked. Richard laughed. "She's Pemisire and she is fine." He replied. "Nawa oh, some people are really insane in this world oh!" Uche blurted. Richard snifled. "Guys, it was serious!" He grinned as he remembered the scene again. "So, the wound was affected, right?" Jay asked. "Yes, but it is better than lossing her to an open soak-away." He chuckled. "I feel like returning back to that hospital where the operation was done, Doctor Martins will understand better." "Maybe we should return back to the hospital, we told the boss about all that happened and he said you should return when you are fit." Jay told him. "Na to on my own automatic answer wey dey my phone oh, that thing saved these ladies!" Uche clapped his hands together. "It's the work of God! He is awesome!" Richard laughed. ***** To be continued

Episode 36 The Doctor entered into the ward, smiling at Pemisire and Richard. "How are you now?" She asked Pemisire. "Pemisire grinned. "Better, but i have used the Diclofenac you prescribed. I think I am better this way than sleeping on the bed." She said. Doctor chuckled. "You still have a choice, it is this young Mister that doesn't have a choice. I wonder why you were discharged that soon, after the operation." She said. Richard smiled. "I was better, I was already alright and fit to go. Who knows if it was because of my sister." He replied. "Sister?" Pemisire faced him. Richard grinned. "Should I say sisters? You and your friend." He concluded with laughter. Pemisire hissed and laughed along as she fixed her eyes on him. she took off her eyes after a brief silence and faced the Doctor. "Doc, what is the next step? What is the next line of action?" She asked. "You guys will be discharged soon, it is just that Mr Richard should be very careful because of his stitched wound. Recommended from me and my colleagues, he should not walk or work for a whole month. Though the wound isn't that bad to that extent but it won't be good to witness the pains after operation." She said. "So, for a whole month, I won't be able to walk around?" Richard's eyes widened. "Yes. It will make everything work better for you and live a good life. It will be nice to keep stretching or sitting than walking around."She replied. "He will do that, don't mind him." Pemisire chimed in, smiling. "Alright, thanks." The Doctor walked out. "I don't know what your business is, na you go lie down for me, or na you go sit for the whole month." He grinned. "Pemisire laughed. "Anyways, just adhere because instead of you to keep on monitoring yourself, you are there, laughing at my classic phone." She chortled. Richard laughed. "Now, I believe! It is really classic!" He kept laughing. "I need a favour from you." He cleared his throat and wiped his face, looking more serious than ever. "What is it that you want from me?" Pemisire dimmed her eyes. Richard cleared his throat again as he scratch his head. "Are you sure you will do it?" He asked, making his feeling masked. "Alright, I am not sure because I don't know what your request might be. Who knows if you just want to kill me." She laughed. "Jokes apart, I really need it from you." He said, making the atmosphere serious. "What..?" Pemisire drawled. "Your kidney!" He grinned. "Kidney?" Pemisire laughed as she clapped her hands together. "Yes." He continued laughing. "At least you couldn't give my sister, give it to the brother." He laughed. Pemisire laughed. "I don't think you worth discharging today, you need to be in the hospital for a while." She laughed. "You must give me the kidney oh!" He continued laughing. Pemisire too was laughing. She never knew Richard was free and so friendly too, she had never tasted from his cheerfulness until then. His problems had put him under the bondage until he became vanquisher in his territory and beyond. **** EVENING. "I never knew you'd be discharged today." Jay said as he came into the house with Uche. "We Nigerians just like making things protract, I was just told to be stretching and sitting for a whole month. So, you guys will be monitoring that Kitchen for a month, wash my clothes, scrub the floor, clean the hou..." "Oh boy! Maybe you go employ cleaners be that oh! " Uche interrupted. "Lazy boys." He smiled. "Boys? We are guys!" Jay said, sitting down. "Anyhow. The only problem is just about these police issues. I was called, needed at station tomorrow." "Criminal, Pemisire's husband." Uche teased. Richard laughed. "Crazy guy! None of you must step that club house again, as a child of God, it is wrong!" He grinned. "See Pastor!" Jay and Uche laughed, shaking their hands. "If dem call any person make e come preach, shey na your type? You wey turn club and bar to your second house too dey preach. I no fit laugh oh!"Uche said. "Don't mind him. Have you forgotten so quick? Your order, Romeo "I am saved, that was then." He laughed too. "So, we will make sure we escort that man to the front of the prison before we return. Some people are just heartless!" Jay hissed. "What are you guys saying? As if you know everything that happened. He should be killed! If not for my new life.." He hissed. "The Pastor!" His friends teased him. **** Pemisire laid on the bed. Her pains had reduced this time as she looked round the house. "Helen, the stubborn girl." She said, smiling. "I know you are still going to accuse me of everything. I never knew!" She smiled too. "Anyways, we thank God, and the mobile phone you bought." She burst into laughter. "Naughty pikin can you now see I helped you out of the problem." She pulled her tongue out. "Anyhow." Pemisire hissed. "The hilarious thought of you drowning inside that pit.." Helen shook her head continuously as she remembered that incident. "Anyhow. Richard just called, he said we should visit the station tomorrow." "Assuming we were in total shock or wounded brutally, who will have time for any station." Helen hissed. "Anyhow, we just have to go." She sniffled. ****

Final episode please even if u avent commented before, let this b d first, I beg. Thanks, Happy reading. No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path. - Gautama Buddha Even if things don't unfold the way you expected, don't be disheartened or give up. One who continues to advance will win in the end. - Daisaku Ikeda Conclusion. **** "Yeah!" Pemisire jumped up for joy on getting back with Richard and Helen from the station. "I never knew it would be so soon." She said. "It is glaring, don't you know?" Richard smiled. Richard handled the driving, in Uche's small vehicle while Pemisire sat by his side and Helen was seated at the back seat. It was a nice thing to see Lawrence in the custody, confessing his crimes and begging for mercy. "At last!" Pemisire shook her head. "Honestly, nothing pays like patience and good character. How could he have done that? It is not good, turning a whole family to nothing because of your own selfish desires." Richard hissed. "Do you guys not think what I am thinking of?" Helen spoke from behind. "What?" Pemisire asked, turning to the back. "They have the power to turn everything upside down, I am scared." She said. "There is nothing to be scared about, it is glaring already. The only thing left is to showcase the documents in court." Richard said. "Yes, it's in the newspaper already. I see lines falling in pleasant places for us." Pemisire added. "All is well." "Guy, what of your parents?" Pemisire asked Richard. "Pemi! Abeg oh." Richard smiled. Pemisire laughed as she swooshed out a long breath. "Let go of the past. Of what essence is it when you believe in God and still have something in your heart, keeping you away from God?" "Pemisire! Those people killed Christie, have you forgotten" Pemisire smiled. "There is nothing to be forgotten there, no matter what!" "Have you forgiven that man and his fellow guys too?" He questioned her. "Yes. I honestly have forgiven them." She replied. Richard grinned. "So easy!" "You just have to let it go." She smiled. Richard sighed. :Alright, I have forgiven them but I don't think there is anything that can happen between us again." He told her. Pemisire laughed. "That is not forgiveness. Though, let us be verisimilar, one can't forget but try as much as possible to keep everything flowing because of God!" "Pastor Mrs, you don start!" Richard laughed. **** TWO MONTHS LATER Richard was breathing heavily. He checked his pocket, laughed and took of his eyes again. "My God!" He said and sank in his bed again. He picked up his laptop and typed something before looking down. Mission had been accomplished, the documents had been submitted to the highest authority for review and Mart Companies was Pemisire's own already. She had been excited and wished to celebrate with her friend, Richard and his guys. "It must be done!" He clapped his hands together again as he wiped off his sweat. The screeching of the door made him raise his head quickly. "Guy, are you not set?" His friends approached him. He grinned. "I am ready." Uche moved closer and peeped at the laptop before him. "Guy come!" He chuckled as he called Jay to move closer to him. "What?" Jay moved closer. "Your friend is searching for how to ask a girl out, on net." He laughed. "What?" Jay rushed closer to them. "Guy you funny oh!" He started laughing. "Don't laugh, I am just short of ideas." He grinned. Uche hissed. "See the person asking us not to laugh, you want to tell her about your feelings today?" He asked. "Sure, but I don't know.." He hissed. "Rubbish boy, wasn't it a way you asked Debby out then? This love.." Jay chuckled. "It is no longer funny, let us go, God will teach me. Don't you know Pemisire us different from Deborah?" He smiled. "Let's get going." Jay said. **** "Richard!" Pemisire sprung to her feet on seeing him. "How are you?" She asked. "I'm fine. Congrats concerning the companies." He shook her hand. "All thanks to God and you, I appreciate you all!" She said, smiling. "Uche and Jay, welcome." She moved closer to them. "Hmmn... you no see us before? No be Richard you go meet? Uche said. Pemisire laughed. "Don't be crossed with me, just keep shinning." She smiled. "Hey!" Helen waved at the guys. They exchanged pleasantries before Pemisire stood out to address them. She spoke happily, telling them how she appreciated them. She almost started pouring out tears when Richard stood up and mived closer to her. "It is our day of joy, we should rejoice and be glad in it." As he spoke, his eyes made contact with that of Jay that was winking at him. He almost burst out into laughter when he pressed hus lips together and drew Pemisire closer to himself. "We thank God." He said. Thank you." Pemisire smiled. "I am using this medium to appreciate friends that are more than my family, my guards, my persons, I don't know what else to call Jay and Uche because they are so marvellous. Since childhood till now, everytime I face trial, I see them there. Though, they almost pushed me to hell by letting me drink.." They all laughed as Richard paused for a while. "Yeah, it is the reality." He chuckled. "Then to the best sister, Christie was the best when she was alive. I'll never forget a sister like you because your type is rare! I love her deeply. Also to the one who accommodated this pretty lady beside me, I thank you, Helen. I thank you for buying her that phone that made this day come to fulfilment, I am still researching on how to get a phone of such." They all laughed again. "And lastly, to this pretty babe beside me. I have always asked her something she has never given to me, please help me beg her." He smiled. "What?" Helen asked. "Her kidney of course." He made them laugh again by his jokes. "Alright, I have something I want to officially ask." He cleared his throat and glimpsed at his friends. Jay winked at him again. "Alright." He cleared his throat. "I have never seen a lady as strong as she is. She is full of life, rich in glamour! She brought me out of the dark to the light of the day and she will forever be more than a sister. I.. hmmn..." he stared at his friends for a while before dipping his hand into his pocket. "I am officially asking Pemisire to marry me." He let out at last. Helen flew happily, Pemisire's eyes widened as she saw the ring with Richard. Her mouth was opened as she kept her gaze on him, unblinking. Jay and Uche and tapping each other on their seat, laughing. Pemisire breathed heavily. "I.. em.. Richard." She started stammering until she burst into laughter. "I'll marry you." She said. "Oh no!" Jay jumped up. "Oya na, let's go there!" He said as he moved closer to them. Uche kept laughing in his seat. "This is serious!" Helen said as Pemisire and Richard hugged each other. **** JAY. It has been a wonderful ride, I don't think I have seen such before! I am happy for Richard, he is now a happy man! He is no longer a guy, now a man. I felt God was bad too until I discovered he made some things look bad just to take us to the promise land. Yeah! I know, I am sure of it, this js an everlasting love! UCHE. I am wowed! The look on Doctor Kate's face was a very challenging and unpredictable one. It made me think if Christie would live. Though, she died but can never die in our hearts. I love how everything has turned to be. I love it now that Richard is now the CEO of Mart Foods and I am also privileged to be a Director. I never knew things would work out this way, he is the unquestionable God, I see! HELEN If I say I have seen something like this before, it's a big lie! My friend cried, was bloodstained, was deserted, threatened but still lived above them all. Thank God for the phone I bought for her, who knows if I would be dead by now? Thank God for the wooden platform in the uncompleted building, Pemisire might have fallen inside that pit! I am... I just don't know what to say, I am speechless! RICHARD From the start, I clouted the mirror. I sustained injuries, I questioned God, became an overall drunkard, I almost killed people when I had my accident, I felt it was the end when Christie died, I never knew all happened because God knew and knows my future. I am sure he sent Pemisire to me, she came in and acted the meaning of her name, calling me into everlasting joy. I, who was nothing, turned out to be a multi billionaire, the controller of many men and states, seeing Senators, Governors and even Presidents. I became the one people watch on television set because I have been lifted. If Christie didn't die, it means I'd have been somewhere, in total madness. I am now at peace with everyone, even my parents. From Bartender to the Unknown, to Pemisire and lastly to my wife! PEMISIRE. I'm now the subject of thanksgiving! I said it, a man's destiny can never be changed, it can be made to halt for a while but can never be tampered with. I knew God had planned everything, if not, I would have died too. So many cases of death! I passed through tribulations but now the happiest! As written by Temitope Daniel Abimbola 2014. FROM THE WRITER'S DESK. Love is our true destiny. We do not find the meaning of life by ourselves alone, we find it with another. - Thomas Merton I was inspired that until I started work on it, I wasn't myself. Once I am inspired that way, I do see it as if God wants to let people know something unknown to them. Don't blame God for someone's death, be strong and rejoice because you don't know what might have happened if the person didn't die! Many times, it might be when something disastrous would happen to someone that God would take the person away from the world to secure him or her but ppl wouldn't know! This is my own theory: Destiny is like a clock, each person has his or her own. Some people might set theirs, thirty minutes before or after but there is a universal one which everyone has separately. It can never be changed, it may be altered! When it is time for you to shine, no man on earth can stop it!
