Recipe of the Day: Peppered Snails
Ingredients:
600g of snails
150ml groundnut oil
1 tbsp thyme
3 small tomatoes and peppers
Seasoning cubes
1 medium onion
1 medium green pepper
Salt to taste
Preparation:
1. Remove the snails from the shells and clean wash thoroughly until it’s no longer slimy
2. Boil snails with sliced onions, salt, thyme, and seasoning cubes for 10-15 minutes or until the snail is tender to the bite. Check if tender at 10 minute intervals
3. In a pot add groundnut oil, and fry onions, greenYb pepper, tomatoes and fresh pepper, and saute on medium heat for 5 minutes
4. Add the snails and toss in the pepper sauce. Allow to simmer on medium heat for 10 minutes.
Serve on its own or with boiled rice/plantains
