Thanks for the comments, they mean a lot. i am sorry for not translating the yorubas, and also sorry for not indicating the episodes, i did that because it's a short story. i couldn't post everything up because i was just cooking it up.......
this is the final post on the story....
When I got to Oluwo, I took a taxi to Egbeda. I later got to the engineer’s shop at around 11:15am, but he has not come back. I waited for about 35mins before he got back, I finalized my business with him, and I left his shop. I was at Egbeda junction, when my phone started ringing, I checked the caller, it was my big bro. I picked the call but not without squeezing my face……
Me: hello sir
Bro Bimbo: Rahman, how far na?
Me: Not bad sir
Bro Bimbo: where are you?
Me: I’m in Egbeda
Bro Bimbo: you are not at work? What’s the problem?
Me: Delivering a message for my boss.
Bro Bimbo: ok. I hope you have sent the document to that agency, you now the deadline is 1pm.
Me: (perturbed) yeh! I have not, Mr. Festus ko ba mi (Mr. Festus has put me in trouble)
Bro Bimbo: how can you forget about your career, don’t let the application fee waste o
Me: I am going back to the office right away sir.
The document was actually meant for a scholarship program I applied for, and I have to submit those document before 1pm, now the time is 12:10pm, I have only 50mins and if I am not able to do this, my big bro may disown me and it would be a wasted opportunity cos I have everything in place for me……..aye mi, temi bami (I am in trouble).
An idea came to my mind, I must call Wale; Wale is a colleague and a friend at IITA, but in a different unit from mine, I called him to go to get those documents and help me scan them so that it won’t delay me if I get to the office. An idea also came to my mind, I gave him the site and told him to go on with the submission, but the only delay would be passport photograph, but I can actually do that when I gat to the office via my phone; I am already at Iwo-road by the time I pass the message to Wale, and it’s already 12:30pm.
After 5mins the taxi to IITA got filled and we started moving immediately, I started praying to God to place His hand on that taxi so that it won’t stop for any reason on the way. It seems like God loves me more than anybody in this world cos the journey went according to my wish. I got to the office at exactly 12:48pm, I quickly took the passport via my phone and uploaded it alongside the other document at exactly 12:57pm, the thing kept rolling and I started sweating under air condition, 1min later I saw SUCCESSFUL on the screen, I took a big sigh; what a day!
THE END
Lesson: we should always try as much as possible to give a proper schedule to our activities, all that happened because i nonchalantly procrastinate what and i could have done earlier that week. Unfortunately, i went through a restless day before preventing the opportunity from getting hurt because of my past actions. In a nutshell, what we did, or what we are doing, or what we are about to do, or what we are going to do would definitely affect our future affairs.
