EPISODE 3/4
Rylie's never actually been introduced to him. He's usually working out of their New York location none of his visits to see Jayson seem to be just because, the few times she's seen him he is chastising Jayson for not showing up to family events or missing important meetings.
Clearing her dry throat Rylie tries again. "Mr. Braxton, I can appreciate that you are upset sir and I can understand you think I'm just concerned about my job, well I am concerned about it, but...well....you see...I'm...I'm not...."
Abruptly he cuts her off. "How long have you worked for my brother anyway?" He snaps.
Rylie puts her tongue in her cheek to keep from taking his surly head off. "I've known and worked for him for almost two years." She says stiffly.
"Did he hire you or inherit you from another department?" Is his unanticipated rapid follow-up question. Rylie doesn't know why he's asking but her frustration with him has reached breaking point.
"Thank you for making me feel valued as one of your loyal employees Mr. Braxton. You show up at my house threatening me with my job if I don't produce your wayward brother for you like I'm his babysitter. You really don't know my name but I'm sure you can now pick my ass out of a lineup. For your information, I have been one of your loyal employee's for four years. I didn't want to stay late tonight, I really just wanted to get home and cook this meal. You see I had this recipe and I've been holding on to it for a very long time. I couldn't think about working on the Caldwell case another minute today after he tried to pinch me on the ass this morning. I mean I'm a hard worker you know, but I'm sick of Mr. Caldwell and his flirting. He thinks he's so irresistible because he has money but he's really just a garlic breathing old fart. I wanted one night off, just one and....and....."
Rylie looks up catching a glimpse of his face. His hands are in his pockets he seems to be listening although he's wearing a deep scowl, she stops rambling.
"To answer your question, no your brother did not inherit me, I unfortunately inherited him but you're not a stupid man, I'm sure you already know the answers to the questions you're asking me." She finishes in a deep sigh to his scowling stare.
"Who's Mr. Caldwell?" He says so calmly she almost thinks he's being nice.
"Huh...he's the owner of Syntax Technologies. We're buying some apps from them." She informs him.
"Mm, not their company just the apps, how much is the account?" He inquires.
"They wanted twelve million apiece for four apps, I've got them down to eight." She responds with a nod of her head feeling proud of herself.
"And my brother hasn't been around to help you with this deal?"
"Well...uh?" She doesn't want to snitch.
"Are you my brother's mistress?" He simply ask her.
"No Mr. Braxton." She fidgets with her hands then puts them behind her back looking up into the purest pair of round obsidian blue eyes she's ever seen.
"Chace." He says aware that she's still nervous about him.
"What...?" She says seeming confused.
"Chace, my name is Chace. Mr. Braxton is my father." He responds unsure if she's lying he has no way of knowing whether she's telling the truth.
"What are you cooking?" The smirk is momentarily gone she feels like she achieved something but she's still wary of him.
She doesn't know if he believes her but he's no longer as intimidating as he was in her doorway. He's really a lot to take in up close. She did turn the oven off but she's feeling really warm anyway.
