@desire u ar confusing mass and weight, weight is mass x gravity given by mg... Mass is constant while weight varies with gravity. U ar 4geting Dat d box contains air which is a combination of gases much heavier than helium or hydrogen...... By replacing d air contained in d box with either H or He Dia wud b an upward force which tends to pull d box upward thereby reducing the overall weight, if d upward force is sufficient, d box will even float.... It's d Same with uptrust in liquids...... 4 instance... Objects weight less in a river...... U shud try it sometime

Quick thinking man, but i hope you also know that mass is always constant. The fact an object is walking against gravity doesnt make it any lighter.@paje

nah dats wia u got it all wrong, wen something works against gravity it weighs less. Else hw do u explain weightlessness in space,

In space everything weighs d d Same while there individual masses vary

Are you saying when you throw a stone of lets say 10kg upwards, the weight reduces to like say 8,5kg. And why would it lose its weight anyway? Sha we aint arguing but your theory aint true@paje

In space theres no gravity, so everything stays afloat, thats why scientist made space suit, the weightier, the better. Otherwise you'd drift into oblivion.

@ferdinard, wen an object does nt experience gravity , it does nt come down, if it doesn't come down, it has no Weight, but it still has its mass..... @desire 4get d daily misconception of mass and weight, mass is measured in kg, while weight is measure in kg/m^2 or newton(N), if a stone of 10kg is thrown into d atmosphere of earth with gravitational force to b 9.8,its weight wud b 10x9.8 = 98kg/m^2 or N, but if d Same stone is thrown up into a planets atmosphere or space with 0 gravity, it's weight wud b 10x0=0 kg/m^2 or N, but 4 simplicity, weight both on measuring instruments and measured items ar calibration in kg only..... Hence d mass of a bag of cement is 5kg......... Recall Dat kg is a fundamental unit
