Stretch marks are visible off-color lines on the skin
surface. Stretch marks are mostly found in the belly area,
can also occur over the thighs, upper arms, buttocks and
breasts as well.
Sometimes stretch marks can cover large portions of the
body.
Although pregnancy is the main cause behind stretch
marks, other reasons may be gain or loss in weight, rapid
growth, hereditary factors, stress and changes in physical
conditions.
The skin consists of three layers namely, Epidermis (the
outermost layer), Dermis (the middle layer) and
Hypodermic (the innermost layer). Stretch marks form in
the dermis or middle layer of the skin when the connective
tissue is “expanded” beyond it's elastic limit due to quick
expansion or contraction of the skin.
Stretch marks appear on the skin surface when someone
grows quickly, or puts on weight quickly.
Stretch marks can cause self-consciousness and make you
very uncomfortable about your appearance.
Luckily, there are a number of natural ways to reduce or
erase the appearance of stretch marks completely on your
body.
They are:
1. Castor Oil
Castor oil, as it is used in the treatment of a number of
skin problems such as wrinkles, moles, dark spots, and
pimples, can as well be used to get rid of stretch marks.
Apply some castor oil to the stretch marks and gently
massage the area in circular motions for 5 to 10 minutes.
2. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is effective in the treatment of many skin
problems too. Its healing and soothing properties can be
used to get rid of stretch marks also.
You can directly rub Aloe Vera gel on the affected area of
your skin, leave it for at least 15 minutes and then rinse
slightly warm water.
