************EPISODE FIVE************* [b]The evening of that same day as Betty was pounding yam for dinner and her husband was already home and shouted at her for still cooking, as she was rushing things she started feeling a bit dizzy and head ache, she thought it was something minor so she continue pounding the yam, after some minutes, the head ache became unbearable and it was like someone was hitting a big nail on her head. that was when she knew that if something is not done immediately to stop it, it might turn to something else, she started going inside their room to get some drugs, when she got there she met her husband busy with his laptop as usual. Stephen: is the food ready cos I'm very hungry Betty: No dear, please pass me that basket of drugs over there. Stephen: you want to add drugs to the food you are cooking or what? Stephen asked still facing his laptop. Betty: no, I'm not feeling fine so please give it to me now Stephen: I'm very busy here so come get it yourself. Betty: Honey please I can't, I'm really dying here, just help me get it over there Stephen: you are not serious When Betty knew that her husband was serious about not helping her get the basket of drugs she tried and stood up to get it herself, before she could get there it was been kept, she fainted . Stephen seeing her on the ground became afraid. Stephen: Betty what is it ? is this one of your numerous plank or what? please get up joor. he touched her, pushed her but she didn't move, he put his finger near her nose and Lol and behold she wasn't breathing again, he became extremely scared. "Betty honey pie, please get up, I'm really sorry I won't do it again I promise, please don't do this to me, I love you. here is the basket of drugs you asked for, please wake up. Junior, Junior!!" he started calling his son who was busy watching Sophia the first. Junior: yes daddy, what do you want me to.. on seeing his mum on the ground unconscious, he was shocked. "ahaaa daddy what did you do to mummy? why is she lying on the floor? haaaa daddy has killed mummy ooh!" he started shouting Stephen: my friend will you go and get me my phone before I beat the stupid hell out of you. Junior went and get the phone, Stephen called Debbie who is a doctor by profession. Stephen: hello Debbie where are you now Debbie: I'm at home now, why are you asking? anything the matter? Stephen: My wife just fainted oh! she don't even breath again Debbie: And you are still there talking, bring her to the hospital right away let me start coming too. Stephen: OK, thank you. he cut the call and took his car keys, carry Betty went and put her at the back of his car and left for the hospital, on getting there he met Debbie already waiting for him. They carried Betty inside the emergency room, Debbie went inside and asked them to leave the room. 20 minutes later she came out looking exhausted. She met Stephen standing at the door. Stephen: Debbie dear, how is my wife. Debbie: she is fine now, at least she has regained consciousness. see me at my office. Stephen followed her to her office, "now tell me what happened to her? why did she faint?" he asked curiously. Debbie: she fainted because of too much stress, the way I'm seeing it, your wife has been stressing herself too much and it has weakening her body. Stephen: How is that possible? the only thing my wife does is house chores, you know I don't allow her to go to work. what else do you want me to do? Debbie: Do you think doing house chores and taking care of a home is a small job? you stopped her from working and in turn made her a slave at her own house. Stephen I'm really disappointed at you. Stephen: Hey Debbie don't insult me here please, just do your job and let me take my baby home. Debbie: Sorry Mr , she isn't going anywhere with you today, until she is better and fit, she won't be leaving this hospital so go home, get some of her cloths and some things she would be needing including what she will be eating this night. Stephen: Hi *he said to her* Betty: hello, good evening. Stephen: evening baby girl, how are you doing? hope you are getting better? Betty: yes, my God is at work Stephen went closer to her, hold her two hands and looked into her eyes "baby, I'm really sorry for what happened please forgive me" Betty: its alright, I have already forgiven you. Now tell me, how are my little angels at home? Stephen: all fine ooh, I just served them dinner before coming here and I'm sure that before I come back they must have slept off. He opened his eyes and looked around to his greatest surprise, he was sleeping on the table with Eva still tied on his back. Stephen: More than terrible **he whispered** Betty: What dear Stephen: I mean its very good dear Betty: I know it should be. please I called to wake you up so that you can start the morning duties to avoid the kids from going late to work. Stephen: okay **he murmured before cutting the call immediately . With heavy eyes full of sleep, Stephen said a brief prayer he went to the bathroom and washed his face before heading to the kitchen. He opened the cupboard and brought out the things he will be needing for the food. He started with cooking the white yam, when he was through , he used his phone and searched how to make egg sauce from the internet "got it! the food will definitely be delicious" he said. He brought out the things he will be using for it, fresh tomatoes, fresh pepper, onions, egg and the rest. "first I will have to wash and slice tomatoes, pepper and onions" he said to himself and started slicing the tomato, followed by pepper, then onion, when he was cutting onions, he started feeling its impact on his eyes, he used one of his hands to rub his eyes forgetting that he used it to cut pepper. immediately the pepper entered his eyes he started running around like a crazy man "haaaaa my eyes oooh! my eyeeeees, pepper, pepper! pepper want to kill me oo" he used his other hand to rub it and it worsened it " oh my goodness! pepper ooooooooh, my eyes, water water, where is water oh! water please show yourself oooh " he started looking for water with his eyes almost closed , when he saw water.on a basin, he rushed and put his hands inside it but unfortunately for him, it was a very hot water he used to cook yam. he removed his hand immediately he felt the hotness of it. "ahaa, now I'm sure my enemies are at work! my eyes ooo! my hand ooh!" he continued shouting while looking for water. someone tapped him on the back and he turned to know who it was Junior: Daddy please take this cold water I got from the freezer to wash your face and stop disturbing us with your loud voice. If mom had been shouting like this each time she cooks we all must have run mad by now. ** he said, giving him the bottle of water Stephen: Come on give me that water before I kill you now **he thundered snatching the water from him** Junior started laughing at him "Daddy the cook! after all these you will still bring out one concoction for us to eat* he burst out laughing again while Stephen gave him a murderous look. Stephen continued with his cooking, he fried the egg sauce, when he was through he set it aside and began cooking the spaghetti. it took him some minutes before he could finish, he checked the time and it was 6:45am already. "oh my goodness! this kids will definitely be late today" he rushed to their rooms and started waking them up. Stephen: Deborah! Junior! wake up, he patted them, Deborah was the first to wake up Deborah: Daddy good morning Stephen: good morning princess, help me wake your siblings up, tell them to remove their cloths and come to the bathroom for their bath now Deborah: yes daddy Stepen went ahead and got the bathing water ready before the children got to the bathroom. He bath Eva and Junior while Deborah bath herself . He dried Eva's body and put her school uniform on her. When they were all set, he served them their breakfast "Junior now pray before you guys start eating" Junior: [i]Oh Lord, we thank you for this wonderful meal we are about to eat, bless it and may it nourish us. I can't possibly eat this cos I strongly believe that behind this concoction lie another set of purging patiently waiting for us. Deborah: better lower your voice so that daddy will not hear us. Stephen thought about it for a while before accepting the condition. The woman called her daughter to stay at her shop while she followed Stephen to the bank. When they got there, he withdrew the money and pay her. He went to where he packed his car and drove off. On getting home, he started doing house chores. He swept the whole house and outside then he washed the toilet and bathroom, cleaned the kitchen, the rooms and parlour before dusting the chairs and tables. By the time he finished, he was sweating like a Christmas goat. "Oh thank God I'm through at least I can rest before its 4pm" as he was going to his room to sleep, he saw the heap of cloths to be washed.. Stephen; hmmmm, I'm really going crazy, so I can never rest again. look at this heap of dirty cloths waiting for its servant to wash it.. I really wish I had listen to Betty and bought the washing machine when she begged for it, anyway let me wash them. He sluggishly packed them to the bathroom and started washing them, as he was washing them, he slept off. by the time he woke up, it was 4:30pm already. "haaa what have I done to myself, this children must have been waiting for me. Let me start going." He went inside his room, changed his cloth and left. When he got to the school it was almost empty, he started looking for the kids. After some minutes he saw them at one conner waiting for him, Eva was already crying. Stephen: Hi kids, how are you guys? Deborah: We are fine daddy, Good evening Sir Junior: We are not fine daddy, we have been waiting for you for so long, if its mom she will be the one waiting for us and We are even hungry. Stephen: I'm sorry OK, let's go home now, I will buy food for you guys on our way. They entered the car and left, when they got home he told them to go to their room and change then come downstairs and eat the food he bought for them. He went back to the bathroom to wash the remaining cloths and spray them to dry. by the time he finished, his hands were paining him very well. He went inside the parlour to check something, on getting there he was dumbfounded at the state of the parlor. the kids has scattered everywhere."What is happening here? what is the meaning of this? now that I thought am through with everything, at least I can rest now but you kids intentionally created another work for me.
