CHAPTER 1 "Papa,why are you looking so worried? Is it those people again?" Prez father looked at his eight year old daughter? he could not keep anything from her no matter how well he hid it. Adela Vick, Prez father had five children, two girls and three boys, he loved them all so much but Prez was his favorite and they both knew each other deepest secrets even though Prez was just eight years of age. "Prez dear, leave your father alone, let him rest? he has had a long and tiring day." Her mother entered with a tray of food for her husband. Prez shrugged "Okay mama, love you both." Then she left the room to join her siblings outside where they were sitting with her childhood crush Xavier. After Prez left,her parents started a serious discussion. "Hmmm! What are we to do now? These thieves are bent on stealing and taking away our merchant group, why can't we report to the authorities ehn?" Prez mother asked worriedly. Adela Vick shook his head vehemently "They are Philnians,they won't listen to us, even though we might be right, the fact that we are Skornians made us wrong." They both sighed in unison. Their merchant group is a famous one being coveted by a Philnian. The Adela family were at a crossroad about what to do and the action to take. *************************

CONTINUATION Outside wher Prez and her siblings were sitting with her brothers friend Xavier, Prez smiled shyly at Xavier while Xavier pulled her chubby cheeks. One of her brothers soke up. "Xavier,this one that you are treating Prez like a fragile egg, are you crushing on this little brat?" Prez smiled shyly and looked away, she was eager to hear Xavier's answer. Xavier smiled. He knew Prez was crushing on him and he didn't want to hurt her feelings. Pulling her cheeks again he said. "What do you expect? One look at this beautiful face and long hair and you are gone. She has queenly charisma and I will treat her as one." All of them laughed. Prez was secretly joyous because Xavier was handsome too. Girls were attracted to him and her brothers like bees. Prez immediate sister spoke up. "Xavier, remember you promised to take us to the Circus this coming festival in two weeks time." Xavier laughed "Of course I remember don't worry Kat. I will take you and my queen here and you will have a fun filled day." Prez giggled "Thank you Xavier" Xavier bowed gracefully while Prez giggled the more and her brothers looked on. There was no other person they trust to look after their sister and take care of her other than Xavier. They had discussed with their parents to give Prez in marriage to Xavier when she was come of age. *************************

CHAPTER 1 CONTINUES The days sped by quickly and then the day of the festival came. Prez woke up early with her sister, they were ready to go. Prez happiness spread like wide fire in their family so everyone was smiling that morning because of Prez. Little did they know tragedy will come knocking that very day. After breakfast and saying the family prayer, Xavier came to take them to the Circus with the stern warning of proper behaviour and hugs and kisses. They went out of the house into the streets. They watched different type of shows in the Circus and after that proceeded into the market .They toured the market, buying and eating things, watching puppet shows, dancing and acrobatic performances, magic tricks performances e.t.c. Before they knew it, night came calling. Xavier called to them and they went back to the house. On getting there, they were about to enter when they saw their father's business rival and some fierce looking men leaving their house carrying swords and spears. Xavier hid them until they had completely left. Then they ran inside. What they witnessed was horror. Their father had been beheaded, their mother in a pool of her own blood naked,it was evident she was raped so many times until her private part dripped with blood, then she was stabbed to death. Their brothers too were also stabbed to death,only one was barely alive. There was stench of blood mixed with fish oil. By then the house was burning. Xavier went and held him.

CONTINUATION Xavier went and held him. "Shama, Shama stay with me,don't die, open your eyes." He opened his eyes slowly. "I don't have much time left, listen carefully Shingu(my friend), protect my sisters, take them to the resistance camp in Young Village. No one can find the place, stay there. Am so sorry for putting this on you. Take care my friend." He gasped and died. Prez,Kat, and Xavier wept bitterly with hearts full of hatred for her father's business rival, Lrd Dang. Their house was burnt to the ground with her family inside. After the incident, Xavier moved to take them to Young Village but Kat wouldn't have it. "Am sorry baby sister, Xavier please take care of Prez, always make her happy, I can't stay in Skornia anymore or else I will just commit suicide. I have to go to another Kingdom to start another life. Prez I know you will be a great woman,I'm very sorry.Miennae(Am sorry), Xavier can take care of you more than I could. Farewell. May heaven be with you." Kat took the next ship to a kingdom unknown to Xavier and Prez. While Xavier took Prez to Young Village, where a new life began for both of them.

CHAPTER 2 Twelve years later, Prez had become a full grown beautiful woman, she was still with Xavier who was also grown to become a very handsome man. They were both staying in Young Village where the resistance army was. The resistance army was building up everyday and secretly even the smart Philnians didn't know what was going on in Young Village. Everyone there were thought to be ordinary villagers but the people and Villagers knew better. But one very strange thing was that no one knew who the leader of the resistance army was. Prez, Xavier and some other people came to the Capital City KORS, where everything happened including where the Imperial Palace is. They came to speak to the Skornian Elders. They had both became the spokepersons for the Young Village people. It was on their arrival that they encountered problems. Prez friend,Lina, that lived in the capital city was raped and killed by the Crown Prince friends, no one dared to touch them so they got away with their atrocities. When Lina's parents narrated what happened to Prez, she was livid with anger, immediately, she went to their usual joint, Star Inn. "I am looking for Lina's killers? stand up before I fish you out." One of them laughed and said. "And what will you do? We are untouchable unless you want to face the Crown Prince wrath. Oh! Not before we have a taste of you one after the other like we did with yyour friend." He and the others laughed. Prez smiled "Really? Okay then, if you all beat me, you can have your way but if I beat you all, I will castrate you all." They all laughed because they were all good swordsmen. "Bring it on Aghassi(Young Lady)" In a swift, Prez unsheated her sword, in less than two minutes she had them all on the floor writhing in pain. She then went ahead and castrated them. When the Crown Prince heard of this, he threw Prez in prison. "You,how dare you? You will pay for this." When the Emperor heard of this and also the protest of the Skornian Elders he ordered the release of Prez because he didn't want rebellion from the Skornians.

CONTINUATION Prez became an heroine of the people because she avenged Lina's death while she became the Crown Prince worst enemy. After the incident, Xavier cautioned her. "Be careful we can't afford anybody eyes on us, moreover you are my responsibility, I promised to keep you safe." Prez answered angrily "I am fully grown now orabeoni(brother)?why are you treating me like a small girl? I am no longer eight years old, I am a warrior now." Xavier sighed "Am very sorry if that's how it seems to you. Your family were my family, you are the only one I have left that's why am so worried." Prez held his hands "You won't lose me Xavier, I couldn't do anything about my family's death, I should be able to help Lina's parents." Xavier nodded and hugged her. "Alright, just don't attract people to yourself." After the incident, they met with the Skornian Elders and left for Young Village. A year later, the Emperor died of an illness and the Crown Prince was to succeed him, then troubles started. The priestess and the Skornian Elders went to meet the Crown Prince concerning the next Empress. " Your Royal Highness, we have come concerning the issue of your Empress that must be chosen from Skornia, since it is customary to give out our daughters to every two Emperors, you are the next in line since your father never got one so, we came to discuss this with you." The Crown Prince shouted angrily. "No way, you audacious fools, get out right now before I cut your heads off." They all stood up to leave, the priestess spoke. "Your Royal Highness, we will leave but you will seek us right when the time is right." After this they left the palace.

CHAPTER 2 CONTINUES It was the time of the month for the meeting of the Skornian Elders and since Xavier and Prez were spokepersons for the Young Villagers, they attended the meeting. After the meeting, Xavier instructed Prez to stay back in the Capital because the priestess wanted to see her, while he left for Young Village. Prez was confused but she proceeded to the temple, on getting there, she met the priestess, the Emperor(The Criwn Prince had been installed as Emperor)and the Elders discussing. "Alright, I will pick an Empress from Skornia, this is because of my mother not because I respected you idiots." The Emperor said. They all bowed in unison. "Komaso, Your grace is immeasurable Your Majesty." Prez chose the moment to bow. "I greet our priestess,my elders, I bow Your Majesty,I was asked to come here." The priestess smiled. "May you live long my child, this current meeting is because of you Prez, Heaven has spoken,you will be the next Empress of our people. Emperor Kan as he was called was boilng over with rage because he was to be married to his worst enemy but he reined in his anger because of his mother, the Empress Dowager's instructions. He vowed to make Prez life hell. Prez on the other hand leaned on the wall for support? she was shocked to the bone marrow. "No, it can't be why would I be chosen?" Emperor Kan left since he had agreed to their terms, leaving Prez with the priestess and Elders. They all pleaded with her until she accepted. "We are sorry for this, but this Heaven's wish, we believe you are chosen to go to the palace for a greater purpose, for the sake of Skornia please accept."

CHAPTER 3 A week after Prez was chosen, she was crowned as the Empress, her official name was Empress Li. As was the tradition, she had her own set of chambers in the Imperial Palace called Empress Palace.The biggest set of chambers belonged to the Emperor, that one is name Grand Palace. But she and the Emperor shared the same sleeping chambers situated between their palaces. On the wedding night, Emperor Kan laid down his rules for her. "I accepted you because of my mother not because of heaven or whatever, you are nothing to me and I will never bed you, just sleep and supervise the women world in the palace, you have no official duties here. And don't worry about child bearing, I will take a Queen from among my people in Philnia, she will bear all the children I need, so just enjoy your stay here cara mia(my dear)" After his speech he left. Empress Li then knew that her stay in the palace will be hell. The following day she went to give her greetings to the Empress Dowager, the Emperor's mother. Then she wondered around her part of the palace. She would also go and visit her people outside the palace and help them since she had nothing to do. ************************* Six months later, true to his words, Emperor Kan made the daughter of his Prime minister in Philnia queen. She was a wicked and callous thing but Empress Li never minded. All the servants, slaves and workers in the palace prefer to serve Empress Li rather than Queen Lan just because of her callousness. One day in the middle of the night while Empress Li was sleeping, Emperor Kan barged into their sleeping chambers dead drunk, that will be the second time after their wedding night. Before she knew what was happening, he was on her, Empress Li was helpless to do anything. The next morning when he became sober, he realized his mistake and transferred them to Empress Li. He slapped and hit her hard. "You wench you had the guts to seduce me? Even if you give birth, it will still be a bastard because a mixed blood, half blooded Skornian bastard can never be my child nor my heir." After beating her some more, he stormed out of their sleeping chambers to his palace.

CONTINUATION Empress Li wouldn't mind, she had accepted her fate but there was one thing she vowed to do for her people and Empire before she died in the hands of the Emperor and that is to make the Emperor give her his blood oath and seal that after his reign, he would liberate Skornia and go back to his own Empire Philnia. A month after the incident, Empress Li started feeling funny and getting sick so her chief maid called the physicians to check her. "Olori? it is with great pleasure I tell you this. You are pregnant Your Majesty." After delivering the news they left. It wasn't long before the news spread around the whole palace. The Queen was furiouswhen she heard, she went to meet Emperor Kan. "Your Majesty, this people mock us, will you allow them?" Emperor Kan was angry when he heard about Empress Li's pregnancy. "Don't worry my Queen, I will take care of it." Queen Lan was very happy with the Emperor's response. The Emperor instructed the physicians to prepare an abortion tonic and headed to Empress Li's palace. She was dragged out by the Emperor's guards. A maid witnessed whatwas happening and reported to the Empress Dowager. "I heard you are pregnant, you slut." He hit her hard. "Arata, I won't argue with you. Give it to her, not a drop must be left Li." The tonic was handed to Empress Li who refused to drink it. "No, I can't, I won't drink it." The Emperor roared with fury "What! Alright, I give you two minutes to finish that tonic or I will remove that bastard from your womb with my sword." The Emperor threatned her fiercely and with shaky hands she carried the tonic to her mouth."No, stop don't drink it." The Empress Dowager ran into the gathering. "Your Majesty, please don't do this I beg you please am on my knees, don't make this mistake." The Emperor grunted. "Mother, why wre you doing this?" The Empress Dowager replied. "Because a mother knows best." Emperor Kan left angrily leaving Empress Li with his mother. Empress Li bowed " Thank you Your Majesty." The Empress Dowager turned and slapped her. "You must be crazy you are not fit to carry a child, wench, I don't want to ever see you near my Hall again or else..........." With that she walked away.

They believed there was still hope for them.

CHAPTER FOUR Throughout her months of pregnancy, Empress Li's people treated her well, brought hygenic foods for her and the priestess helped and guided her through pregnancy but she never let her people know of her travails in the palace because they might rebel and perish even though they had a clue of what was happening. On the day of her delivery when she went into labour, the physicians and mid wives were sent for but none came, they had been odered by Queen Lan not to attend to Empress Li. Luckily one of her maids knew the process of delivering a child so, her Chief maids and two other maids helped her out. The situation was reported to the Emperor and Empress Dowager but none of them came to her aid. After almost twelve hours of labour, Empress Li gave birth to a baby boy, she named him 'JilheVick Kan.' Jilhe which meant 'my joy', Vick was her late father's name and Kan was the Emperor's name. Outside the palace, everyone was drunk with joy but the Queen was furious, no matter her scheme, Empress Li was aided by Heaven. Jilhe grew quickly, he grew very handsome and resembled his mother even though his character was also like his father. He was very smart and intelligent but he grew up to witness his father's absolute hatred for his mother, he was always called 'My Lord' instead of the normal and traditional 'Your Royal Highness' used for the first born sons and heirs. He was also not allowed to call the Emperor 'father' rather he called him 'Your Majesty' Irrespective of this everyone loved Prince Jilhe very much and one thing Empress Li would always teach him was "Jilhe, never hate your father, he doesn't like me because he was forced to marry me and he loves you, he just doesn't want to show it, that's why." CHAPTER SIX A few days later, Empress Li finally woke up. The people of Skornia were very happy. When finally Prince Jilhe visited her, he insulted her. CHAPTER SIX CONTINUES A week later, things didn't turn out as expected because Empress Li went into labour, she was a week early, her pregnancy was not yet nine months old. Because of this a request was sent to the Emperor to let Empress Li be brought back to the Imperial palace for adequate treatment. Fortunately he agreed. She was quickly brought back into the palace while Prince Jilhe, Prince Kani, Lady Dora, Xavier and many people feared and prayed for the baby's amd Empress Li's lives. After so many hours of labour, Empress Li finally gave birth to a very beautiful baby girl who looked exactly like Emperor Kan, there was no difference. Well, the girl cried upon her delivery but after being cleaned up she smiled and laughed at anyone who carried her. Her smile was infectious. Empress Li on the other hand immediately went into coma after giving birth, the physicians were ninety percent sure she will die. The poison she took when she got pregnant also added to the problem, some of it were still battling with her immune system. But the Skornians believed she would not die, they all prayed and fasted, every Skornian looked up to Heaven to revive Empress Li. Xavier, Lady Dora and the Princes made sure no other person went near Empress Li, they believed they can harm her or the baby, so they took care of mother and child together. The Emperor and other Philnians were stunned at the level of loyalty showed to Empress Li, they had never seen such but that was just the beginning.

"What happened to His Majesty? Speak." The chief physician bowed and spoke up. "It seems he is being affected by poison. When you ordered that the herbs you were supplying should be stopped, he started feeling sick." Empress Li faced him. "Moragoyeo(what!), I never stopped the use of the herbs, I knew about his condition that was why I ordered that the herbs be used to cook his meals. Now who stopped the use of those herbs? Speak up before I fish you out." The Queen and some Philnian officials sneered at her. The Queen spoke up. "Empress Li, you hypocrite, don't try to blame others for your crimes." Empress Li got very angry "well we shall soon see about that." She sent Lady Dora to get her whip. "Now who stopped the use of those herbs?" A physician ran out in fear. "Please spare me Your Majesty, it wasn't my fault, it was the Queen who told me the herbs were poisonous that is why I devised how to stop using them in His Majesty meals." Empress Li smiled. "No problem then. But from now on, I must not see anybody in this Palace until His Majesty recovers. Failure to comply is instant death. You can all open your mouths, I don't care but one thing is until His Majesty regains conciousness, I will handle everything in the palace. Any objection is ammounted to high treason. Only the Chief Eunuch can stay here with him." They all left very quickly while most think about what confidence and bravery came upon the quiet and easy going Empress Li."My Empress, will you be able to purge the remaining poison out from his blood stream?" Xavier asked worriedly. Empress Li smiled. "Am fine now brother, I can do it successfully." Xavier nodded. "I know but you just got better recently so let's do this together." Empress Li nodded. "Alright then. Let's do it." After a few hours they finally removed the poison from his body and gave him a relieving tonic. After this, no one except Empress Li, the Empress Dowager,and the children were able to see Emperor Kan. Empress Li then nursed and took care of him until he regained conciousness a week later.

Empress Li sighed. "I don't want to do this. Assemble our troops at Young Village secretly but wait for my orders, as much as I don't want the Prime Minister to overthrow His Majesty, I have to tread carefully." Xavier bowed. "Am at your service My Empress. There's more. The Emperor's loyalist army is seeking for our help but they don't know who we are or who our leader is, they just know us as a mercenery army that's all." Empress Li smiled."Alright,just don't give us away understood?" Xavier bowed. "Very clear Your Majesty, I must leave now." He then left, leaving Empress Li to her thoughts. The Queen seized this opportunity to lie against Empress Li before the Emperor. When Emperor Kan heard this he was angry at Empress Li. After the Queen left, he told the Chief Eunuch to summon Empress Li. The Chief Eunuch then spoke up. "Forgive me Your Majesty but I think at this point there are some things you need to know. "Emperor Kan frowned. "And what are those?" The Chief Eunuch smiled. "Your Majesty, I don't know anything else but one thing I know is that Empress Li is a very good woman. She has been taking careof you since she became the Empress. If not for her you would have been dead long ago." Emperor Kan was confused. "Moragoyeo! (What!) What are you talking about?" The Chief Eunuch sighed. "Do you remember that time when you are still a boy that you were poisoned? It was around the time you left Philnia to come resume your duties here as the Crown Prince. The poison was so strong that it was only a portion of it that was sent out of your system, we had all thought that you will die of the poison even before your ascension. She said it will detoxicate the poison and that if any is left later on she will help remove it from your body. She removed them a few days ago. When the Queen noticed this, she ordered that the herbs be stopped and that's why the remaining poison then almost killed you before Empress Li removed it." Emperor Kan was so baffled and confused. "You mean Empress Li did all this for me?" The Chief Eunuch bowed. "Yes, Your Majesty. She also protected and took care of you while you were unconcious, she cleaned and fed you, she also stayed with you all through till you regained conciousness. I don't think any evil person can do that and it is also evident she loves you no matter how you treated her." At this point the Emperor felt thoroughly ashamed of himself. He sighed. "But why would the Queen do this to me?" The Chief Eunuch smiled. "It's simple My Majesty. She, her father(the Prime Minister) and some people are planning to overthrow youand get rid of you." Emperor Kan became sad and angry. "What do you think I should do now Chief Eunuch? I have lost my people and even the throne am sitting on feels like I am only renting it." The Chief Eunuch smiled. "Believe Your Majesty, be bold and never be afraid to fight for your right." Emperor Kan smiled and nodded. "Your words encourage me thank you."

I missed seeing my daughter too, I hope to see her again, thatis if Empress Li will let me." The Empress Dowager smiled. "She will. I know that for sure." After their discussion, Emperor Kan began to talk to Empress Li, he began to show her love and affection but Empress Li was still cold to him but she allowed him to see Prince Jilhe and Princess Happiness. Emperor Kan thought the Chief Eunuch got it wrong when he said Empress Li was in love with him so he was devastated. He wanted Empress Li to love him like he loved her. "I only want your happiness My Majesty and it has come to the point where I have to tell you the truth, I really hope after this you will still trust and believe in me." Emperor Kan was confused. "What are you talking about?" Empress Li exhaled. "My family were brutally killed by one of our Philnia rivals, they took over our business and my sister and I were forced to part ways. Then I moved to Young Village with Xavier. There, a resistance was building up, I learnt all the martial arts I could and in no time, I along with Xavier built the resistance into an invincible army, I became a master both in master arts and use of poisons. I also made my army wide known and feared."

CHAPTER TEN CONTINUES I can use this army to help you take back your throne and Empire, if only you will let me." Emperor Kan was shocked. Empress Li was a great woman and he never knew,she could have destroyed him if she wanted to but she didn't.Empress Li looked at him nervously. "A-ar-are you mad at me?" Emperor Kan embraced her. "Thank you, you could have destroyed me if you wanted to but you want to save me instead, I love you." Empress Li felt relieved. She didn't want him to hate her for her secrets. "Everything I have is for you even my people as long as you treat them well." Emperor Kan smiled. It felt good having her in his arms. "So what's next now? Can you assemble them soonest? I will personally go there and meet your army." Empress Li smiled. "You don't have to worry, it will be suspicious if you go, I have already discussed with Xavier, the army is on standby, all that is needed is to join forces with your army and you will win this war." Emperor Kan smiled. "What can I do without you my love? I will make this up to you, I won't be afraid to declare my undying love for you."

Empress Li laughed. "And I love you too My Majesty. But there is one more thing you have to know." She exhaled. "Kani is not your son, the Queen took him and killed all his family." Emperor Kan was shocked and enraged. "Mora?(What?) I must kill her." Empress Li consoled and calmed him. "Calm down, at least think of Kani, how he..........." Before they could understand it, Kani ran out, it was obvious he heard everything. "Pae'ha, we will finish this later, let me go meet him." Emperor Kan agreed. She ran after Kani and consoled him. Xavier was going through the market when he saw someone very familiar, he followed her of course, when he moved closer he was surprised. "Am I dreaming? Kat! Is this you?" She turned to look at him. "Xavier? Orabeoni(brother)." She embraced him. "Wow! I never thought I would see you again." Xavier smiled. "Your sister and I have been looking for you since." Kat smiled. "Am sorry, I came back after a few years but I couldn't find you both, so I went back. Oh! This is my family." She introduced him to her husband and kids. After exchange of pleasantries, Xavier asked. "When did you arrive Kat?" She smiled. "We arrived last night and we are still looking for a place to stay. What about my sister, is she well?" Xavier laughed. "More than well, she will be happy to see you let's go to her, she will find you a place to stay." Xavier instructed a carriage to convey them to the palace. Kat was confused on their arrival at the palace gates. "Xavier, what are we doing here, is Prez working here?" Xavier smiled. "You will see." CHAPTER ELEVEN CONTINUES After putting them all to sleep, she went to Young chamber, she met Emperor Kan waiting up for her. "My husband, you are not yet asleep?" He smiled. "I am waiting for my empress to come home to me." She stepped into his embrace. "Thank you Your Majesty." He laughed. "So, did your sister and her family settle in well?" She nodded. "Yes, thanks for everything my crown." He grunted. "Oh! Stop saying that. You know I will do anything for you my heart." He kissed her passionately after which they went to sleep. The days that followed were full of planning on how to get the throne back. It was later decided that Empress Li will travel down to Young Village and prepare the armies(that of Emperor Kan and Empress Li) for battle. Xavier left first while Empress Li took her time to say goodbye to her sister and her children. She left them all in her sister's care. Most people thought Empress Li was going for her usual every year prayer, it was only a few people that knew what was really happening. It was at this time that Queen Lan's brother, General Krane came to stay in the palace with the sole purpose of watching Emperor Kan's movement, an order from his father, the prime minister. When he saw Empress Li, he asked his sister about her. "Is that the Empress?" Queen Lan hissed. "Yes, that's the wench, I will tell father to wipe out she and her family after he takes over the throne." General Krane laughed heartily. "Good. But I will have a taste of her first before you carry out your plan. You are sure she is harmless?"

Queen Lan laughed. "Harmless and useless." They both laughed and moved inside. At Young chamber, Empress Li bade her husband goodbye while he felt reluctant to let her go, Empress Li begged and pacified him for a long time before he finally agreed. Emperor Kan knew he had no choice than to let her go because of everything at stake including their being together. CHAPTER TWELVE After Empress Li left, Emperor Kan buried himself in work and strategies of war while he appeared to everybody as calm. The mere presence of General Krane infuriated him but he decided to pretended if he was okay with it. On hearing that Empress Li was coming all the villagers began to clean and decorate the village. They were so happy she was coming. After a week she got to Young Village. The people received her with joy while the army gave her a warm reception. After the celebrations she focused on her mission. "Reports Xavier." Xavier bowed. "The army is on standby, Emperor Kan's army are still begging for an alliance with us and are still begging for an alliance with us and the total number of our soldiers are now 800,000, total number of guards are 10,000, and assassins are 500 in number." Empress Li smiled. After about an hour, all the moles reporting to the Prime Minister in Emperor Kan's army were caught and killed while General Dan was stunned. Because the Prime Minister was so greedy, he decided to conquer Skornia for himself so he sent soldiers to General Krane to subjugate Skornia. .Little did they know that Empress Li knew of their plans. The battle was fierce in Philnia, the war took place at the outskirts of the capital city. It seemed that the Prime Minister's army was winning, so he sent a message to General Krane to subjugate Skornia. "What is the meaning of this rubbish General?" Empress Li asked in fury. She was surrounded and held by two soldiers. General Krane laughed and slapped her. "Neinom(YouWench). Emperor Kan sentenced all those who committed treason including the Prime Minister and his children to death by hanging, then all their heads were cut off and displayed outside the city gates. He also used the army to wipe out all the corrupt and powerful nobles and officials, after doing all the necessary reforms, he addressed his people. "My people forgive me for not being a good emperor and ruler to you all, but now I have woken up, thanks to the wonderful empress we have, Empress Li who helped me back on the right track. I now promise from today onwards, Philnia shall flourish and will be a great Empire and also as from today, Skornia Empire is no longer a slave to our Empire, I am still their Emperor but today, they become our sister. They fought with their lives selflessly to help us to be free from opression from evil people even though we have been opressing them for ages, this shows their sincereity therefore, Skornia is free from today onwards and they become siblings with us." Everyone shouted and cheered Emperor Kan. He became their best emperor and ruler, they all decided to abide by his decision and from then, Skornia and Philnia became sworn sisters feared by Nations and Empires around them, far or near. The Philnians also so much loved and idolized Empress Li that they built a temple in her name. Then, Philnia became prosperous and peaceful.

CHAPTER FOURTEEN CONTINUES A year after the late prime minister and his followers were subdued, Emperor Kan went back to his family in Skornia, he had built a powerful and strong army for his Empire, Philnia. He was received with jubilation and celebration by the Skornians. After his arrival, Empress Li addressed her people. "Fellow Skornians. Brothers, sisters, today, I give you a new Emperor who has forever change the history of Skornia." The people hailed and shouted. "........And also today, Skornia becomes a strong Empire, after all these centuries we are free." The people shouted in joy. "My people, let us remember today and celebrate it all our lives. I hereby declare a 7 days feast and merriment." The people hailed. "Long live Emperor Kan, long live Empress Li, long live the Royal Family." After this Emperor Kan addressed them and assured the people of their freedom, he also promised that hostilities are over between the two Empires and that they had become sister Empire to Philnia. The whole empire celebrated immensely, it was the first time they had and experirnced freedom. When other nations and empires heard of the tales of Emperor Kan and Empress Li,they were sore afraid to cofront them.

After the speech and his arrival, Emperor Kan met with the council of Skornian elders and the priestess, it was there that he informed them of his decision to leave Skornia throne and go back to Philnia, to his people. Therefore it was finally concluded after much debate that Empress Li should be a reagent for Prince Jilhe, who will assume the full responsibility of the Emperor whe he reached the age of maturity. After making the decision, it was announced to the whole empire. Skornians were celebrating the fact that Empress Li will start the new dynasty for Skornia while Empress Li was not pleased, so she went to confront Emperor Kan. "Your Majesty, what is this announcement about? I can't accept this decision, please rescind your decision."

"But you don't look alright, tell me what's wrong." Empress Li turned and sighed. "Am sorry for the other day, I was wrong please forgive me. Maybe you are right afterall, I need to stay for my people and you, you have to go rule your people and you, you have to go rule your people and sire a heir to your throne. I guess this is my destiny afterall." Emperor Kan looked at her in pains. "Prez, I have no other woman in my heart and making Jilhe the heir here is my punishment for making it impossible for you to conceive again. I should be the one asking for your forgiveness. I love you and I am sorry I have to leave you all here but believe me only you will be my empress, after your reagency here, you can finally move over to Philnia and we will live together, me and you." They both moved to the front of the palace ground and the golden crowns of the ancient Skornia were placed on their heads. "Today, I give you Prince Jilhe as the new emperor of Skornia and our Empress Li as the reagent and Grand Empress of Skornia Empire." The people hailed and shouted. "Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!" After the people have calmed down and were settled, Empress Li addressed them after which Jilhe now known as Emperor Likan also addressed them.

"It's an honour to be your Emperor today, I never thought it was possible after what I and my mother had gone through. I want to thank you all for your support for my mother, the Grand Empress and always there for her, I remember how you all prayed for her during the time she was dying and I also remember the love that you showed to me and my siblings, I thank you all and I promise you to serve with all my might and also protect Skornia. I also want to thank my dearest mother, Grand Empress Li , my aunt, my siblings and my awesome father, I am really thankful I have all of you all in my life. My People, I promise you all to do my best and make Skornia stronger.....Thank you all." All the people hailed and kowtowed after Emperor Likan ended his speech. They also threw a farewell show for Emperor Kan while the Empress Dowager decided to stay back in Skornia. Happiness, Kani and Empress Li's sister, Kat and her family were also officially made royalty, princes and princesses of Skornia. Xavier also made a High General and Grand Lord Xavier, brother of the Grand Empress, the rebel army was also officially made the Skornian Army. Finally Skornia regained back its popularity, power, might and wealth.

CHAPTER FIFTEEN CONTINUES The following day Emperor Kan and his entourage left for Philnia, it was a teary goodbye and princess Happiness couldn't hold her tears. After their departure, Empress Li concentrated on work, she was looking forward to seeing Emperor Kan at the border in six months time. The two empires were at the peak of their success and every six months the royal family met at the border. It was on one of such visits that Empress Li persuaded Emperor Kan to get a queen in order to get an heir for the Philnian throne. Emperor Kan was reluctant at first but he gave in eventually. The new queen was nothing like the former queen, she was kind hearted and loved Empress Li and her children very much even though they had not met, but since Princess Happiness was a regular guest at Philnia, she automatically became Queen Lin's daughter. Empress Li equally loved her and made sure to send gifts to her. But the Queen couldn't bear a son, she gave birth to twins, they were both gils and so adorable. At this point Emperor Kan lost hope and decided his girls will be his heir until one day. "Pae'ha(Your Majesty), did something happen in Philnia? Please talk to me. You don't look okay." Empress Li asked Emperor Kan worriedly. He smiled weakly. "My empress, I am fed up with looking for a son, one of the twins will succeed me." Empress Li sighed. "It's okay, that's a good one but you are not happy why?" He stood up and started pacing. "Because, I have looked for a son for so long, it's been five years already."

Empress Li sat him down and put his head on her lap. "It's okay Your Majesty, you have two already and all your children love you, please don't brood anymore, is this what you are doing in Philnia? The Queen must be worried." Emperor Kan smiled. "Ha! It feels so nice to know that I have caring wives that also love each other. I love you my empress." Empress Li smiled. "And I you my heartbeat." Emperor Kan pulled her closer and kissed her passionately. A few months after their usual visits to the border, Empress Li fell sick and the physicians were summoned. Her son, Emperor Likan was so worried. "Physician? what is wrong with the Grand Empress? Speak!" The physician stammered. "H-h-her Majesty is preganant, it seems impossible." Emperor Likan and his siblings couldn't believe their ears. "She's what?" Prince Kani was shocked. The physicians bowed. "It is a miracle Your Highness." The maids and court ladies bowed. "We congratulate you, Your Majesties." The palace was filled with celebrations, even Empress Li still couldn't believe it. The good news was quickly sent to Philnia. Everyone was so happy especially Emperor Kan and Queen Lin. The queen made sure herbs and delicacies were sent to Empress Li till her time of delivery. Everyone was anxious and worried, the delivery took longer period of time than expected but she eventually was delivered of a baby boy.

CHAPTER FIFTEEN CONTINUES When Emperor Kan heard the news, he was overjoyous. He set out with some of his ministers the following day to journey to Skornia. When the Skornian palace received the news of his departure from Philnia, they started preparing for his arrival. "Mother, we've just received news that he will soon be here." Prince Kani smiled and bowed. Emperor Likan laughed. "Finally, do you know since when I've been begging father to come?" Empress Li smiled. "It's good to see everyone so happy. Oh! Kani, I heard there is something you have to tell me about you and Happiness." Empress Li lokked at him, Emperor Likan feigned innocence and looked away. Prince Kani quickly went on his knees. "Forgive me mother, I didn't know what happened, I didn't intend to like her and then she likes me too and........." Empress Li smiled. "Shush my son. I understand. Myself, your father and Emperor Likan have agreed that you are the best person to take care of her, moreover, you both love each other and you my son have what it takes to be there for her." Prince Kani smiled. "Thank you mother, I am deeply honoured Your Majesty." Emperor Likan nodded and smiled. "You are my brother and I know that she is the best for you." Emperor Kan entered. "Must you finish this matter before I arrive? He has to receive my blessings too." They all stood and bowed while the Emperor and Prince Kani exchanged pleasantries after which they excused Empress Li and Emperor Kan. Emperor Kan embraced and kissed her while he checked on the new prince. After the naming ceremony of the child who was named Prince Daleh, Emperor Kan went back to Philnia. Prince Daleh grew into a fair and handsome boy, he so much looked feminine and that made him even more appealing and called'beautiful'. He totally took after Emperor Kan and right from a small age he was taught to fight and also taught official and royal duties.

Finally after seven years, Empress Li handed her duties officially to Emperor Likan who had then become very powerful and adored by his people. Everyone in Skornia cried because Empress Li was finally leaving for Philnia. They gave her the most beautiful sent forth. Princess Happiness and Prince Kani cried all night, before she left. While Skornia was thrown into sadness,Philnia on the other hand was in a joyous and festive mood because finally the long expected Empress Li was soon to arrive in Philnia. Emperor Kan ordered the entire empire to be redecorated while Queen Lin personally took care of the palace, supervising the court ladies and palace maids. "Okay, so where is she now?" Emperor Kan asked one of the returning scouts. The scout bowed and replied. "Your Majesty, Her Royal Majesty crossed the border last night, she and her people are riding really fast, by tomorrow morning, she will be here Your Majesty." Emperor Kan smiled. "Trust my empress not to use a palanquin. Okay, you may leave now." On getting close to the border, Empress Li and Prince Daleh stopped, changed and relaxed, after much pleadings she finally entered her palanquin along with Prince Daleh. "Do you think my dress is okay? Will she like me?" Queen Lin rambled on nervously, while her daughters laughed. One of them replied. ."She will love you mother, relax." She swallowed and nodded. "Okay then." She went to join Emperor Kan to welcome Empress Li. Empress Li had no choice but to greet everyone at the palace gates who had come to greet her and prince Daleh. Immediately they both stepped down from the palanquin, everyone kowtowed. "Please stop, you can rise up now." After talking to them for a while, General Dan and his troops came and saluted her. "Allegiance my empress." He bowed. Empress Li smiled. "General, it's been a while, how is Lady Dora?"

"She is fine Your Majesty. His Majesty is waiting." He escorted her to the palace grounds. On seeing Emperor Kan she bowed and smiled. "How have you been My Majesty?" He smiled and replied. "Fine, welcome my empress. Where is Dalhe?" Empress Li turned and saw him helping afallen girl up. Emperor Kan laughed. "It seems you are rubbing off on him." Empress Li smiled and faced Queen Lin. "You must be my Queen." Queen Lin bowed. "Welcome Your Majesty." Empress Li held her hands. "Kre?(really) It's nice to finally meet you, you are very beautiful, I se where the twins got their beauty from. And thank you for taking care of His Majesty for me. Komaso(thank you)." Queen Lin bowed. "Thanks for the compliment my empress." The twins ran and embraced Empress Li. "Mother, we missed you." She replied. "I miss you too my beauties. But I am here now for you." After Prince Daleh also did his rounds of greeting, they all went into the palace where celebrations and festivities took place. Back in Skornia, few months later, Prince Kani and Princess Happiness finally got married while they received blessings from the royal familes, their parents and Emperor Likan.

EPILOGUE "Prez, what are you doing here? Have you been crying?" Emperor Kan frowned as he sat beside her. Empress Li quickly wiped her tears. "Not really, I was just thinking about Skornia and my children. I miss them." Emperor Kan held her hands. "My heartbeat, it's okay and I understand. As a good mother this is what you are supposed to do. Should I send for them?" Empress Li smiled and shook her head. "Anie Pae'ha(No, Your Majesty). I must learn to live without them. Komasmida(thank you)." Emperor Kan nodded and pulled her closer. He didn't like seeing her unhappy so he did his best to make her happy. "Can you see those stars my heart? That is us and our children, see even Heaven acknowledge us." Empress Li smiled. "Yes, that's right. I love you My Majesty. Thank you for all that you've done for me and my children, thank you for loving me." Emperor Kan looked into her eyes and smiled. "I should be the one saying thank you because you love me and you never gave up on me. You are a jewel of inestimable value and I love you too, forever and always." He kissed her passionately while he led her back into the palace. ************************* After many years of living and ruling together, Emperor Kan died and Empress Li who becme the Empress Dowager supported her sons especially Prince Daleh till he became very strong and so powerful. She eventually relinquished power and politics when Emperor Kan died but everyone still feared her. Her daughter, Prince Happiness then rose to be in charge of the Skornian army under the guidiance of her uncle, Grand Prince Xavier, she was given the title Grand Princess Li by her brother Emperor Likan of Skornia while the control of the Philnian army went to the daughters of Queen Lin, they were all known and feared by other nations far and near. The two sisters were known for their absolut loyalty to Prince Dalhe who later became Emperor Kanji. They protected him till their deaths while Queen Lin also became a pillar of support for him when Empress Li died. Prince Kani too gave his immense support to both Emperors and became a high lord in both empires. There was peace for many centuries in both Skornia and Philnia, no one dared to attack them because of their armies and unity. After Empress Li was buried, an epitaph was engraved on her tombstone, it read: Here lies the great iron empress of our time. EMPRESS PREZ LI. And so the journey of Skornia began. Till date everyone still adored and loved Empress Li. THE END
