The Super Eagles of Nigeria
climbed just a place up in the
latest FIFA/Coca Cola World
rankings released yesterday to
maintain their third position in
the continent.
Despite their impressive second
round finish at the World Cup in
Brazil, Nigeria have been ranked
amongst countries like Denmark,
Romania, Ukraine, Sweden,
Scotland, Venezuela, Serbia and
Turkey, who failed to qualify for
the biggest football event.
Nigeria remain the worlds third-
placed African side coming 33rd
on the rankings, with 673 points
behind Algeria and Cote d’Ivoire
who maintain their 24th and
25th positions respectively.
Newly crowned world
champions, Germany remain at
the acme of the ranking table
with 1736 points, followed by
Argentina and Netherlands with
1604 points and 1507 points.
