THE INCIDENT (Weekend Special)

All she saw was darkness when she opened her eyes.
She felt slightly woozy and her head hurt.
Have I been drinking....Where am I ?She wondered.
The last thing she remembered was getting into her car outside her office.
She'd had a rough day with a boss from hades.
She remembered staring at her tired eyes in the rear view mirror and thinking about John.
She remembered missing the taste of his lips and the feel of his skin.
Then she remembered seeing the black figure in the back seat.
She remembered being terrified as Strong hands grabbed her and pressed a sharp pungent smell into her face.
Then the darkness followed.
It was the same sort of darkness before her eyes now.
She was in a seated position.
There was a beeping sound was coming from somewhere behind her.
She tried to turn around,but she couldn't move her head.
In fact she couldn't move most of her body.
She was tied up.
Though the air inside the room was cool she could feel tiny beads on sweat on her forehead.
What the hell is this?She wondered as she squeezed the sides of the chair.
My God,I've been kidnapped.She thought.
"Calm down Nimi"She whispered to herself.
"Is anybody there?"she called out.
The sound of her own voice in the darkness was unnerving.
But the silence was worse.
Suddenly a bluish light appeared a few meters in front of her.
The intensity of the large rectangular light increased.
It's glare hurt her eyes briefly as she continued staring at what she now realised was either a Plasma or L.E.D screen.
For a few seconds,Nimi stared at the blank screen.
Even with this light,it was impossible to gleam details of her surroundings.
Beyond the glow,there was just darkness.
The bluish screen flickered once and became a room.The floor of the room was untiled and jagged.
The walls were dirty .
In the centre of the room was a single tattered filthy looking bed.
Nimi gasped in horror.
There was something on the bed.
Something dark.
It wriggled about, contorting it's alien body,writhing as if in pain.Part of it's body extended a little beyond the boundaries of the bed over a black bucket.
As more details of the ..."thing"became clearer,she realised what she was looking at.
It was the naked,tied up body of a man.
His head suspended over a black bucket as he struggled with his restraints.
At first,the man's facial features were distorted.But as her eyes focused a little bit more,she recognised him.
"My God,...John!"she gasped as her mind processed more details.
Aside from being stripped naked,his wrists and ankles were bound and his lips sealed by what looked like duct tape.
Nimi's heart froze.
"What the hell is this?"She screamed into the darkness.
"What the hell is going on???"
John's muffled screams were her only reply as his panic-stricken face seemed to be staring at something outside the Camera's View.
A figure entered the screen.
Nimi felt her heart racing.
He was wearing a weird looking black mask.
The eyes she saw behind the mask were dead.There was no emotion nor life in them.It was like peeking into an arid winter wasteland.
It chilled her to stare at them.As it moved,she caught a glimpse of a large kitchen carving knife in its hand.
The masked figure held the sides of the screen...and adjusted the angle of the camera.
Now she could see John a little bit more clearly.
She could hear his frantic breathing as he continued to struggle.
This is a dream,....a joke....it had to be.She thought.
The figure stood by John's head now....still clutching the knife in its right hand.
"Here's an interesting question.......,"came a strange Deep and distorted voice.
She didn't just hear the voice,she Felt it in her bones like the tremors of an earthquake
It was coming from the Masked man.
"...exactly how much blood does the human body carry...........enough to fill say ...a bucket??"
More muffled screams from John.
The figure was like a marble statute next to John's struggling frantic form.
Try as hard as she could,Nimi couldn't tear her eyes away from what she was seeing.
She was too frightened to turn away.
".. ...We will find out soon enough."The figure knelt down,grabbing the struggling man's head and placed the blade against his throat.
John's frenzied struggles and stifled screams intensified.
"Oh my God!!!"Nimi gasped trying to free herself from her impossible restraints.
The Masked man paused.Almost as if he had heard her.
He turned his head slowly towards the camera.
Muffled screams continued.
"...Oh!..One more thing....John's Death is on your head....Nimi!!!"
The sound of her name suddenly shocked and repulsed her.
"How did you know my nam....??"
In a blink,his blade returned to John's throat...and sliced through the flesh.
The Blood ruptured from John's throat bursting into the bucket in a vicious spray.
The sounds from John's mouth ceased immediately as his body broke into a series of uncontrollable spasms and twitches.
The Man just remained where he was,watching John bleed out.
Nimi blacked out.
Loud knocking.
"Nimi!!!"Came a man's voice.
More loud knocking.
She woke up with a start.Heart racing.She couldn't feel any restraints on her.
She was in her car.And it was night time.
She recognised the street in front of her.
She was parked outside her house.
Had it all been a dream?
Loud knocking.
Nimi almost jumped out of her skin.
She turned to the window on the driver side to see the terrified face of her husband staring at her.
The night was cool in comparison to the stale air of the car.
"Are you okay?"Emeka's frightened face enquired as he helped her out of the car.
The images of John's twitching body still filled her mind.
Had she been dreaming?....How had she gotten home?
"Where have you been?"Emeka's voice probed.
"W-what happened?"She heard her own voice ask.Her head was in a fog again.
This was all so confusing.
Was John okay?She wondered.
Emeka's stare was unfaltering she could feel his eyes drilling holes into her head.
"....I should be asking you that,you're the one who vanished for a whole day.I called your friends,your sister even the police.....I demand an explanation Nimi!!!"
She could hear the rage in his voice.But it was something he said that formed a huge lump in her throat.
"...a whole day...??"
Emeka was silent.But his folded arms and steady gaze told her he wasn't messing around.
"....John's death is on your head,Nimi"
The voice echoed in her head again.
Had it all been a dream?Was John still alive?
"....I don't know what the hell is going on Emeka,but I think something terrible might've happened"
"....Please,like what?"She hated the sarcasm in his voice.
"....besides my wife disappearing for a whole day...and scaring the crap out of me?"
Long pause.
He was right.She thought.
There was nothing for her to say.
What exactly was she going to tell her husband?
'I think I was kidnapped last night.I woke up tied up to a chair in some weird dark room with a large screen for company.
Oh!And and I watched some one get murdered on the screen.Then I passed out again and woke up here.
P.S did I mention,the guy who was murdered is a guy I've been shagging behind your back?
He's ten times better than you in bed.But hey,that's life.I'm glad to be home....whats for dinner?'
She wondered what would happen if she'd actually told Emeka that.
One could never be too certain with Emeka.
He stood there regarding her for a few seconds.
Long Silence.
"Emeka,I'm sorry....I ....I needed some time by myself....been going through alot at work and em....I just needed my space....sorry if I upset
you."
At this point,she really didn't give a crap if he bought it or not.If he'd been taking care of "business" in the bedroom,she wouldn't need a John in her life.
Her primary concern at that point was John,not the over grown weakling standing before her.
She was done talking.
Nimi started making for the house.She had to find a way to find out if John was ok.
"That's it.......?"Emeka asked incredulously
But she never replied.
She just kept on walking.
Emeka stared after her until she disappeared into the house.
Long pause.
He chuckled.
"I'll set the next one on fire...and feed him to you."Emeka said with a cold smile.
"As long as you keep cheating,I'll keep on finding and killing them....you slut"
