Marriage is a life long journey
and it is essential for people
to choose their partners
carefully before going into it.
It is an institution that
requires cooperation from the
parties that would be involved,
you need to be sure your
partner is into it as much as
you are.
Sometimes ago, we looked into
some of the mistakes Nigerian
ladies make when they fall in
love as these things would
affect their relationships in the
long run. There are some
questions you need to ask your
potential husbands in order to
know how viable the relationship
would be in the long run.
Before you can ascertain
whether your partner would
give you the happy life you wish
for with holy matrimony, you
should be ready to answer
these questions and answer
them well. They are things that
would let you know what you
stand to gain after he has
become your husband.
This revelation would help
determine the duration of your
affair and union. At this point,
it would be important for you to
be sincere to yourself and
answer the following questions
truthfully. They are things that
would call your attention to your
supposed husband’s attitude.
If you answer ‘yes’ to all these
questions then you have not
found your perfect match. You
are still single irrespective of
the fact that he might have
given you an engagement ring.
Find below some of these
questions:
1. Do your family members
dislike him?
Before you start making future
plans with your partner, you
need to be sure of what your
family members think about
him. If your parents dislike him
in any way or show their
disapproval then you have not
found a husband yet.
It is better to listen to your
parents when they raise their
objections on issues like that.
But if you can give them good
reasons to like him, it may work.
2. Does he raise his voice at
you?
A man who likes to raise his
voice at you whenever you fight
or argue is most likely to hit you
someday. If your answer is yes
then you should know he is
temperamental.
Someday after you are married,
he could go overboard with the
anger and hit you. You do not
want to stay in a marriage
where you are constantly
abused physically.
3. Does he have other girls
that he is dating?
If your partner has other girls
he is seeing apart from you,
then you are on a very long
thing. There is no guarantee
that he would leave those girls
after marriage.
And the marriage may not
happen if the girls outside have
a stronger hold on him. It is
better to address this issue and
know where his priorities lie
otherwise he may end up being a
perpetual time waster.
4. Do you apologise first when
you fight?
There is the need to say sorry
when you have
misunderstandings. However,
when he waits for you to say
sorry all the time, there is a
problem.
This means you will end up
saying sorry for things you did
not do in order for peace to
reign. The gospel truth is that
you cannot keep saying sorry
for someone else’s crime.
You should be with someone who
would consider your feelings
when things are not right. He
should be able to let go of his
ego and take the initiative to
make things right.
5. Do you pay the bills
always?
As much as you claim to be miss
independent, your partner
should be financially
responsible. He should know
when to pull out money from his
wallet and act like a man.
If you start settling bills when
you are not married to him
there is the likelihood that you
would be the one to handle the
bills as soon as you are married.
6. Is his happiness dependent
on you?
If your partner is someone who
has attached his happiness to
yours, then there is a problem.
People like that would always
feel miserable when you are not
around them.
This may seem like love but it is
not; there is the likelihood that
they would choke you while they
are trying to be happy.
You should be solely responsible
for your happiness. Do not be
disappointed when you discover
your partner would still be
unhappy when you are there.
This could frustrate them and
frustrate you at the same time.
7. Does he become unsettled
when you hang out with your
friends?
Trust is an important and
integral part of a relationship.
If your future husband cannot
handle you being with friends
then there is a problem.
If he keeps calling you while you
are with your friends, then he
probably does not trust you.
You need to be with someone
who would allow you to have
your space. There should be a
balance.
8. Does he ask you to go
M.I.A. with your family
members sometimes?
If your supposed future
husband asks you to skip being
at your family events then you
should know that he probably
would not subscribe to you
visiting them once you are
married to him.
As much as marriage is
important, a family should never
be ignored. You do not need a
partner who would make you and
your family members estranged.
9. Do you think about
breaking up with him
sometimes?
If you have doubts about the
person you are dating it is
probably because there are
some issues you have not
addressed.
Your subconscious is calling your
attention to certain things
about him. If you do not see
him when you think of the
future, then there is a problem.
10. Do you struggle to be
someone he likes?
If your answer is yes again,
then you should have to rethink.
You should be with someone who
makes you feel happy; you
should be free to be yourself
and express your opinions.
If you try desperately to be
someone he likes, you may end
up becoming a shadow of
yourself. If he turns down your
opinions and ideas every time,
that means you are not right
for him.
You should be with someone who
shares your dreams and ideas;
and if he does not he should be
able to support you.
11. Does he freak out when
you look at his phone?
What is he like when you check
his phone or mistakenly read a
message? If he blows it out of
proportion then something is
wrong. There could be things he
does not want you to know.
When he locks his phone and
protects the devices he uses,
he has a lot of things to hide.
12. Is he rude or hostile to
people around?
If your supposed future
husband is rude to his folks and
talks to people anyhow then
there is a big problem. If he
does not give his parents the
smallest regard how is expected
to respect you?
Do not be fooled into believing
you are the only one that has
his mumu button, there should
be other people who can talk to
him when you have issues. He
should be kind to people around.
