My life this past four years has taken a drastic leap. When I thought my family situation couldn't get any better, my father got his gratuity of Six million Naira.
With that six million I advised him to start up a transport company and he did. Four years later it is the most booming business in Nigeria and we are now bastardly rich.
But before this happened, my father sent me to the states to learn how to pilot planes or any aerocraft. So that when I return I would be incharge of the airspace agency of the transport business.
This happened at the age of sixteen and now it's four years. I am twenty and I am returning to Nigeria with plans of my own.
My Name is Malvin Nwadike and I am the Watcher on the roof top... this is my crusade in Nigeria.

THE WATCHER : CHRONICLES OF MALVIN. EPISODE ONE: THE RETURN As Malvin stepped out of Muritala Mohammed Airport, he took in a fresh breath, there was no place like home. He looked around the busy road expecting to see the usual buses but all he saw the white transport taxi's of T'CON. His father's transport agency and company, T'CON (Transport Company of Nwadikes) had dominated the roads. After some minutes a black BMW pulled up with T'CON boldly written on it and his mom came out. She was a beautiful woman in her early fifties, dark skinned and on a permed low cut hair which she dyed brown. She was looking fresh in a suit trouser with a white silk shirt that brought out all the curves she was endowed with. "SoBoy." as she normally called him. She walked up to him smiling with tears in her eyes. "Ma!" Malvin was instantly reduced to her baby boy. How he had missed her. "Look how big you've grown. " She said in her native language Oguta. Overwhelmed Vinny dropped his bags and picked her up in a bear hug. "I ve so missed you. " he pecked her and let her go. "Turn around for me." she said and he groaned. "Mum! I am not a baby anymore. " he whined. "You might be twenty but you are still my boy. Nkwa tuharia! (now turn)" she twirled her fingers. Malvin made a sloppy show of turning for her and she laughed. "You look like a soldier. " "I'd lived in the airforce barracks, they treated me like one of their soldiers. " he said lifting his bags to put them in the trunk. "Let the driver handle that. " she gestured him to drop them. "Augustus, come get the bags." she said and lead him into the car. *** As they drove through Lagos, Malvin was surprised to how much change that had occurred since he had left. Lagos was now a Metropolis, bustling with well organized and supervised traffic. Skyscrapers blocked out most of the sunlight and people rushed in and out of them. It felt like he was back at Illinois, USA. "Nigeria seems to have changed a lot." he said. "Yes who would have thought that Shari (the president of Nigeria) would do so well." His mother replied in her native language. " I see he also favors the Company. " he glanced at her. "You've always been perceptive. -she smiled - yes he does, he banned buses and legalized our company as the number one transport company over the nation, that is why our vehicles dominate the streets. " "Is he coming up for a second tenure? " "He hasn't made his intentions known yet, but I hope he does. It will be good for business. " "He is old and should retire, if you ask me." vinny said. "Well, I didn't ask you. " she retorted. He scoffed. " So where are we heading to? " "To our family estate in V.I Victoria island. " she replied casually. "We now have an estate!! In VI at that. " he was surprised. "A lot really has changed. " There was an understatement about the house, it was a mansion in an estate acre of land. The grounds had four different wings plus the middle wing where the mansion was situated. As we drove into the compound and towards the mansion, a huge banner had been placed on a banister reading : WELCOME BACK MALVIN AKA vinny. His father and last two brothers with a bunch of some other people dressed as cooperate servants were waiting at the stairs of the house. As Malvin stepped out of the car, his youngest brother Kossy approached first. Kossy was taller than Malvin could last remember, the boy was sinewy and dark skinned, instead of his usual fat self. "God! Malvin you look different. " he gave Malvin a once over. "If I had been the one to pick you , I might have even passed you by at the airport. " he said and Malvin smiled. The kid still had a sharp tongue. "Is that the Good morning I get?" Malvin ruffled his hair. " Stop that! I am fifteen! " he snapped. "I'm not a kid." "But I am still five years older than you, dimwit." Malvin retorted. "Which kine accent bi dis?" Ifeanyi, his immediate younger brother swaggered forward. "Mom, are you sure he is not one of those impostors?" he said. "Impostor? " Malvin raised a brow at his mother. "Long story. " she rolled her eyes. "Well, an impostor wouldn't know this 'Hapu m ka Kuogwara gi' (allow me to beat you back) " Malvin teased him. When they were smaller, Malvin would beat Ifeanyi and Ifeanyi would come begging Malvin to let him beat back. "OK it's definitely Malvin" Ifeanyi smiled. " but a more muscular and tall Malvin. Geez! What were they feeding you there? " he poked Malvin's abs. "Fertilizer?" "Close to it." Malvin shrugged. "Let me help you with this? " Ifeanyi tried to grab the suitcase Malvin had been carrying all through his journey. The suitcase had never left his side. "No don't worry, let me deal with this." Malvin swatted his hand away and he frowned. "Soboy!" His father took him by the shoulder and began to lead him into the house. "Welcome back. " he said as the servants bowed and parted to make way. "Thanks dad, how has it been? " "You mean T'CON? It has been great, but we do have a lot to discuss. " "No dad, I meant the the family. " Malvin sighed. All his father thought about was T'CON at least that didn't change. "Oh we are fine. Just freshen up and come down for lunch. Adetola -a servant came closer- will show you your wing." he tapped Malvin's shoulder and disappeared around a corner. *** After a much needed shower and long nap. Malvin woke up and went down for dinner. The family was seated on a round dining table, except for his mother. "Who is making dinner? " he asked as he took a seat. "Mum" Kossy replied without lifting his face from his phone. "Mum is the kitchen? " he was shocked. "Yes, just this once. For you." She said walking into the room with servants trailing behind her carrying dishes. When everyone settled down and began eating. Malvin noticed three seats were empty. The seats were for his elder siblings. "What of Obinna? He asked. Obinna was his immediate senior and elder brother. "He will be coming in with your sisters tonight for the party." mother replied. "What party?" Malvin frowned. He didn't like parties, generally he didn't like crowded places. "Society party. " his father said. "To get you acquainted and to introduce you to your class and the Nation. " "I don't need to get acquainted with anything. You know I don't like those kind of things" his frown deepened. That was the last thing he needed right now. He has plans for Nigeria and to that he didn't need this spotlight. " You will have to cope, amongst the high echelons of Nigeria it's like a rite of passage. " His mother added. Malvin sighed in resignation. "What of NOOSIK?" he decided to change the topic. NOOSIK was a school his mother owned. "It's, well... she paused think... bigger than I had imagined. " "She is planning on making it international. " ifeanyi added. "Really? That's very..." ambitious was what Malvin was going to say but his father beat him to it. "Ambitious? " his Father said with a scowl. "I was going to say prospective of the future. " Malvin lied. He couldn't help but smile when his mother glared at his father. "Exactly! " Mother retorted. " we can't solely depend on T'CON." "OR you just want to have an independence of your own in the economy." Kossy said without looking at her. Malvin dropped his spoon and sat back studying his family as his mother tried to defend herself. He couldn't remember ever eating like this with his family. They had never shared a dining table, everyone ate differently. It was a welcomed improvement but it felt alien to him. "Malvin do you know that Nneka now owns a hospital of her own?" Ifeanyi said tired of the squabbling. "That's nice to hear. What of her family? " Malvin asked. Nneka was the eldest amongst his siblings. She was married with two kids, a girl and a boy. "They're fine. Kossy jnr and Kami is with their father at Dubai. Nneka would soon join them. " his mother replied. "Oge nko?" Malvin asked. "Oge is now a nollywood actress and a presenter. " Mother beamed. "She is making plans to Join Hollywood. " Ifeanyi added. "Hmm, I guess been ambitious flows in the blood of the Nwadike females. " he muttered but his father heard. "You Guessed right. " he glared at his wife. "Obinna nko? What does he do now?" Father snorted. "That boy?" he nodded in disapproval and kept quiet. Malvin raised a questioning brow at Kossy. "Father wants Obinna, No Derek as he is now called to become head of the T'CON hq in the north but Obinna refused and is now playing for Chelsea." "Chelsea?" Yet again they surprise him. "Yes, your mother sponsored him." Mr Nwadike said in between scowls. "How do you not know all this? "Kossy asked. " we are the second richest family in Nigeria and sixth in Africa and fifteenth in the whole world. The cameras are always on us." he added. "We are not the fifteenth but the twenty- fifth." Ifeanyi corrected. Malvin frowned. They couldn't be that rich? Was T'CON profiting that well? He glanced at his father who was suddenly uncomfortable. Some thing wasn't right. "The world is kinda blocked out in the barracks. We only know what they want us to know. " Malvin lied. He had chosen to remain blocked out from the outside world, where the earth was rotten to the core with corruption and injustice. The rich feeding off the poor and those wretched politicians siphoning money from the nation. He hated the game of politics. His reason for returning was to free Nigeria from the slimy and gluey grip of the corrupt officials. He was here to physically combat injustice and they that reveled in it. His thoughts traveled to the suitcase he had Locked up in his suite. The device inside of it was his greatest asset to his crusade. It was his weapon. But before he began his battle against corruption, he needed to put systems in place. Instinctively he stood. He needed to check on the case. "Hey! You haven't finished your meal. " his mother pulled his hand. "Remembering the food at the barracks upset my stomach. " he lied. "Will just go prepare for the party. " "Okay. " she said. He gave them a forced smile and left. This was just the beginning. The High echelons wanted to meet him? Fine, they would meet HIM. A/N Hi guys. This just the beginning. I will be posting every Friday. But for the first three episodes, I will be dropping them during the week. Comments are appreciated and questions too. Don't forget to like too and follow. Vinny *smiles*

Episode two : The Return ii Malvin stared intently at the open suit case on his bed. In it was a device, the device looked like a normal military standard watch but he knew better. It was a weapon to be reckoned with. It was classified as one of the most powerful technology on earth And ran on every energy source known to mankind. He could still remember vividly how he had come to possess it. *It was on my third year in the barracks. Being the best pilot amongst the soldiers and understudies in the barrack, I had been picked to carry out a basic drill. To pick up a human in an African forest, Unh'chaka forest. "DFL-1238 just arrived and about to touch down ." I had said into the radio headset as I landed the plane in a glade. The DFL-1238 was the latest aircraft in the world; Though it hadn't been publicized yet. It was a plane, copter, glider, chopper and fighter in one. This one was designed to carry two pilots and two passengers. It could cover 10432miles/2 hrs and 5216muiles in an hour. It hit me, if this was just a drill why was I - a civilian involved and why was I piloting the fastest vehicle on earth. "Good day" a white head man climbed into the co-pilot's seat with a suitcase. "I'm Dr. Howard, your assignment." he said fastening his seat belt. "Good day to you sir. I am sorry sir but you can't sit there, except you can fly." I said. "Oh, I can fly." he replied nonchalantly putting on the co pilots headset. "You might be able to fly other planes, but not this baby." I patted the steering gear fatherly. "We shall see." he gave me a sly look. " DFL-1238 switch controls to seat 2." the Dr said into the headset. I jerked in surprise as a mechanical voice replied. "Switching." the Dr chuckled at the expression of shock on my face. I didn't know the craft could talk. "Begin ascension in chopper mode." he commanded. The propellers above gave a whirring sound as they unfolded and began to twirl. The Dr turned to me with a smile. "I built this baby." I blinked twice to make certain I wasn't dreaming. I have seen a lot of tech in the barracks but nothing like this. "You should probably know too, that this isn't a drill Mr Nwadike, Malvin." the Dr added after setting the plane in a regular speed. I had no name tags on. "How do you know my name? " The doctor hesitated for a minute before answering. "A watch told me." he patted the suitcase, he had fastened onto his belt. "I am sure you were told not to ask questions? " he smiled. I nodded in reply. We were almost out of the forest when the warning came. "Incoming cloaked missiles. " the mechanical voice said. The doctor and I darted our eyes over the greenery below but saw no signs of activity. "Switch to fighter mode." he instructed unfastening the suit case and fastening it to my own belt. "No matter what. Don't give this away. Keep it to your self." he said. "Impact in 180 secs" rang the voice of the plane. "What's going on?" I was scared, who wouldn't be. "Eject seat one." the doctor said. Immediately, with a hiss my portion of the cockpit was sealed off by a metal wall and was shot away from the DFL-1238. Some seconds later the plane exploded.* And ever since then, Malvin had hidden and protected the device. He knew people who were willing to kill for it. He sighed and shuddered at the memory following the incident, how he had suffered in that forest. That? He couldn't afford to think about now. Getting up from the bed, he walked to the window. From where he watched as the members of Nigeria's elite trooped in with their cars. Some were sheep, others were vipers and a few were worse than vipers. "Malvin are you ready? " Mr Nwadike called from the closed door. "Give me a minute." he was already dressed up in a black tuxedo for the evening. He walked to the case and picked up the watch and slapped it onto his right wrist. He felt the prick of the hundreds of tiny needles stab in to his flesh from underneath the watch, As it injected Nanites into his veins and as the watched melded and became one with his flesh. The Nanites flowed through his system, sharpening his eyesight, his hearing ability and even his sense of smell. It reconstructed his muscles and mind. He had just transcended into the level of a meta- human. He could smell every odor and scent wafting into the room and could differentiate every one of them. "Neural link complete." the watch said into his mind. Yes! Now he was the weapon. "I need constant Intel of every one that is in the mansion." he said mentally to the watch. Instantly images of faces and their profiles began to flash before him. Images only he could see. His brain was now like a super computer connected to every technology online. Taking a deep breath, Malvin opened the door and joined his father in the corridor. Mr Nwadike led him down to the party. "Malvin now we're alone." he stopped at the entrance to the hall. "I have an offer to make. " Mr Nwadike said. Malvin smiled he knew what the offer was. "Yes I will become the head of the airspace wing of the company and become the CEO of the T'CON hq at the east." "You will?" he was clearly surprised. "Yes but on my terms. " Malvin added. Mr Nwadike's face darkened. "What terms?" "I will build my own home in Owerri and my very own Fashion company. " he replied. "Fashion company? " "Yes I have my reasons. The company will be under my name and will be free from any affiliations with T'CON and the Nwadikes." Malvin proposed. "Why?" Father asked. "Reasons best known to me." Malvin smiled innocently. "Do we have a deal?" he extended his hand for a shake. "Deal." Mr Nwadike shook the hand. *** An hour into the party and he was already bored with introductions. The crush of bodies and their chatter was too much to his enhanced ears , the smell of different colognes addled his brains. He escaped to the Garden to get some fresh air. A bout of fresh oxygen can get his brain together again. He turned and leaned on a vase to study the people. This wasn't like an African party or a Nigerian party. It was like a frigging English come out ball. With ladies and lords of the ton. He sighed. He had been introduced to every single politician that could have made it to the party. His mother had kept sending girls his way, girls that had him recounting his stay in the barracks over and over again. Not to mention his sisters who kept fawning over him. He was tired and ready to bail. The watch alerted him of a friendly presence behind him "Hiding?" a familiar voice said. Malvin turned and smiled. "I have been looking out for you. Was told you came." he said to the guy standing elegantly in a black tuxedo with a girl clinging to his arm. "Chigozie Brown! You look good." Malvin pulled him into a hug. "You too bro." Chigozie smiled. He was Malvin's cousin. "Secret hand shake?" he said when he pulled away. Malvin laughed. "How can I forget? " they did their secret handshake and both laughed. "Vinny- he gave Malvin that name - meet Favour Uzonwanne and Favour meet Vinny." he introduced the girl he was with. "A pleasure Miss." Malvin took the girl's hand and kissed it, she blushed profusely. Chigozie glared at him but he couldn't help but grin. "Can you excuse us?" Chigozie said sharply to the girl. "What's your plan dude? To steal my girl?" he said once she was out of earshot. Malvin scoffed. "She blushes like a Virgin." "Virgin? " he scoffed. "Not anymore she isn't. " Malvin gasped. "Not on the Garden floor, Cypher! " that was what Malvin called him. "Everly the saint." Cypher rolled his eyes. "Not on the garden floor, the tool shed." Malvin glared at him. "And the difference is?" Chigozie shrugged. "She literally begged for it." "You scoundrel!" Malvin gestured a waiter with a tray of champagne flutes and took the whole thing from him. The waiter left with a look of horror on his face. "Bored much?" Chigozie gestured to the tray of flutes and Malvin nodded. "Me too." he grabbed a champagne flute for himself. "So what's up?" Malvin asked taking a large swig of the frothy liquid. " are you still presenting?" he knew the answer to that question. "I was never a presenter. An OAP man. On air personality, and I don't do that anymore. " "Why?" "Traveling around the globe doesn't kind of give you time for that." he replied dryly. Malvin chuckled. "You mean being an ambassador? " he grinned. "Call it whatever you wanna call it. It is not fun." Malvin cocked a brow, that didn't sound like the Cypher he grew up with. He glanced at chigozie. The dude wasn't that naive kid anymore. His eyes held maturity, maybe that's what being an orphan could cause. Chigozie and his elder brother, Ola had been orphaned fours years back. Parents died of same ailment. They had started hustling at a young age, when no one would take them in. "Nigeria has changed." Malvin said. "Yes and your Family changes with it." Chigozie said with an undertone Malvin couldn't explain. "I wouldn't know." Malvin replied. "It has changed for the worse, the very foundation of our government is built on corruption and injustice. " He spat. "The rich exploiting the poor." he gritted his teeth. This appeared to be a touchy topic for him and Malvin wanted to know why. "Isn't that the nature of Financing? The rich provides and the poor buys." Malvin replied. "I agree but we have a lot of RICH! Providing in exorbitant rates to the poor. " he snapped. "What can we do about it?" Malvin asked. Chigozie sighed in resignation. "It's not a one man battle." Malvin nodded in disapproval. "It only took one man to start world war 2" "To start you say. Who is willing to start things now-a-days. Every body wants a moving train. Nobody is bold enough to get the engine steaming. " he sighed again. Malvin patted his shoulder reassuringly. "I am sure there's someone out there willing to. " "Soboy." Malvin's immediate elder sister Oge cat walked out of the hall. He groaned, what did she want this time. "Yes?" he answered begrudgingly. "Oh don't be such a brat!" she smacked his lower arm with her purse. "I wanted to introduce you to someone. " she said. Malvin groaned. "Come on Vinny. It's your party after all." Chigozie said and pushed him forward. "Go on, while I wait out another damsel in distress. " he gave Malvin a very dirty wink. "Whore!" Malvin called before Oge dragged him off. She dragged him across the dance floor to a group of guys- no to where some guys were surrounding a girl. She cleared her throat and the guys fled. "Miss Amanda. " Oge said to the girl. "Oge! " the girl beamed and hugged her. "Amanda meet my brother Malvin." Oge said. "HI!" she said in a chirpy voice. "It's a pleasure. "He smiled at her and she blushed. She was a beautiful fair girl, that had hot Model written all over her. He didn't need the watch to tell him that much to find out. She was Omeonu Amanda. A top model and courtesan to a lot of top ranking men of the society. "Amanda's car is unavailable, would you be a darling dear and escort her home in my limo." Oge suggested. He turned and gave his sister a pointed look. Setup! "Sure, I am dying to get away from this party anyway. " he gave her a smile that said. I-Will-Get-You-For-This! And turned to take Amanda's hand. *** "Would you like a glass of champagne? " Malvin asked Amanda once the limousine pulled away from the mansion. "No, I had too much in the party. "she pulled closer to him suggestively. "So tell me about your time in the barracks. " she purred as she rested her arm on his thighs and massaged them. "Well, let's just say they are classified." he lied. Damn! He was tired of talking about it. By the way that was the last thing on his mind. He was trying to ignore Amanda's touch. "Classified?" she purred and brought her hand closer to his groin. "Okay I will settle with your training." she brushed her hand over the growing bulge in his pants. "Increase in hormonal excitement. " the watch warned. "They are too long to narrate." Malvin swallowed. Oh she was tempting him. "As long as your sword?" she grabbed his cock and squeezed. A groan escaped his lips. "Miss Amanda. " "Amanda! " she corrected and squeezed again. Malvin groaned again. "I haven't been in a woman for a long time now." he shifted to give her full access to his throbbing member. "If you don't stop now, I am not sure I can stop myself from taking you in this limousine." "I don't mind, it's not my first time in a limo. " at that she pulled down his zip causing his cock to bounce out and stroked his length. "I want to be the first to taste you. " she covered the tip of his cock with her lips and Malvin cursed. "Sh**T!" Malvin closed his eyes and relaxed. Amanda suckered and nibbled on the cock like a pro. A growl escaped his throat when she parted his slit with her tongue and suckered. Damn did she think she was milking a cow? She bobbed her head up and down his cock, swallowing it whole and running her tongue over it like it was ice cream. The watch warned that the vehicle was slowing down. And Malvin pulled her up from his unsatisfied cock and kissed her fleetingly. "Amanda, I have a strong sense about the places I have sex ...-she didn't even blush. Damn the girl Don go far-... and inside a limo isn't it." he set her aside and returned his softening cock to where it was supposed to be and zipped up. "I immensely enjoyed it and at the right place and time I will return the favor. " he added before the driver opened the door to let her out. "I have to say Malvin you have strength and endurance. " she said. He scratched his neck. "Oh, that's what happens when you haven't had a woman for a long time. " She smiled. "I don't mean that. I like you Malvin." she pecked him. "See you around. "She turned and left the limo. When the car began to move again. He sighed. He didn't need such distractions. He was a man on an assignment and getting emotionally or sexually attached could prove distracting for him. Proximity to him could only bring about pain. That was why he wanted to move away from his family. Nothing was going to stand in his way. He would make sure of it. A/N Shucks! I just couldn't wait to drop this episode. I had said I would post it on Wednesday. But some of the comments I saw encouraged me to drop it today. There I said it. Your comments encourage me, it gives me an opportunity to look into your mind as the reader and spurs me to write more. So don't hesitate to comment. Next episode coming up on..... Thursday or maybe Friday, depends on you. Yours Everly, Malvin. *grins*

Episode Three: The Night Manor. Malvin spent the days after the party meeting with the board members of T'CON to officially announce his new position as the CEO of the eastern branches. In his free time, he over saw the building of his house in Owerri and his fashion complex. Secretly, with the help of his agent Eisenhower, he imported the lastest gadgets he could get his hands on, for his crusade. His house staff and employees of his fashion company, were all indirectly interviewed by him. Each and everyone of them had experienced the hurt of corruption and injustice, that was the way he wanted it. He needed to surround himself with people who could remind him of his true intent, of his mission. The completion of his lair, home and fashion complex took him two months. Two months of intense planning and structure strengthening. Two months to form a list of all the officials he needed to take down. Two months of acquainting himself with the ups and downs of the government and how rotten they were. Well, two months was gone now. His home, the Night Manor was complete, with staffs awaiting his arrival and his fashion company fully functional and on the way to publishing their first magazine DE'ON (that was the name of the company.) *** Malvin gazed down at Owerri as they flew over it heading to the Night Manor. Owerri, a land mass he had spent the past month studying. He knew every nook and cranny of the city, even the rotten under belly. He needed to, because it would be the center of his crusade. He sighed to himself. Back when he hadn't left Nigeria, he hated the city not because of the city per say but because of what the city had meant in his life then. When he and his family had moved to Owerri seven years ago, it was when all their financial problems began, all the sufferings he went through began in Owerri. It was here their situation got worse and it was here it got better too. He would never forget that. Owerri had changed too. It was now a business city. With business towers and skyscrapers. It was the Manhattan of Nigerian. All the roads were tarred and the minor streets were cobbled. Buildings spotted helipads and rooftop swimming pools. Underneath all the beauty injustice rang high. It was a city of fashion and fun! The perfect place to hide a crusade, a crime fighting crusade. "Approaching the night manor." the watch informed him mentally. He lowered the helicopter until it landed squarely on the heliport built on the east side of his manor. He stepped out of the helicopter and instinctively brushed off his white and blue Polo Shirt and black denims. He ran a hand through his styled hair and readjusted his face cap. Some boys rushed forward to the helicopter to unload his bags. "Good morning, Mr Nwadike." His newly hired PA and head of security detail came up from behind the boys. He was twenty-four and an ex agent of Imo state secret service. He was falsely accused of wanting to blackmail the current governor when he refused an order to lie about a particular case involving the governor's son, who had raped and beat up a girl before him. The watch had located his case and Malvin had proceeded in getting him out of prison, with a lot of money at that. "I am Shola Eric Amby. Your personal assistant and chief bodyguard." "Good morning Eric, just call me Malvin." "Yes sir." he said. "The staff is waiting for you, this way." he pointed at a cobbled path leading to the manor. Malvin smiled at him but didn't move, he simply turned and studied the Manor. He was pleased with what he saw. From the outward appearance at least, his British architect had done an amazing job. Indeed, the Manor was the finest house amongst all the mansions in the Celebrity estate Akachi avenue. And the grounds were well kept. It's facade was impressive, he noted with some pride: made of brick with elegant stone steps and iron railings, The Night Manor stood four stories high. The work the post construction cleaners most have done to get rid of the dirtiness and get the house ready must have been staggering: all appeared pristine, from the gleaming brass knocker on the door to the immaculately swept stairs to the sparkling glass in the four rows of windows. "An amazing sight, isn't it?" Eric said with admiration pulling him from his study. Malvin smiled and nodded. "Lead the way." he said to the bodyguard. Eric lead the way up the stairs and to the doors. Before he could push the door open, the door opened on its accord. "Good morning Mr Nwadike." a fair plum woman who had seen the worst of bleaching creams stood before the open door. "Malvin please." he corrected unattentively. He was too busy studying the house. The inside seemed to glow with much vitality. The marble floor gleamed; the chandelier sparkled; the tall pier glass to his right reflected walls papered in a soft cream and green pattern that was radiant and the mirror's ornate frame, as well as the frames of various paintings adorning the walls were so bright a gold they cast a grand air in the the house. The deep reds and blues of the oriental carpet beneath him was very vivid and pristine. The banister of the wide staircase that rose steeply on the right was silky with silver polish and gild. Not the faintest smell of cement and concrete could be detected even with his enhanced nose. Antiquities from all over the world hung on the walls casting a mystic and ancient glow to the surroundings. Eric cleared his throat drawing Malvin's attention to the house staff, standing arranged according to their ranks. Eric introduced the plum woman as the housekeeper Mrs Akpunaonu and continued to introduce the others. Malvin stopped infront of a maid servant- as he moved down their ranks. She was a girl in her late teens. She has had the most disturbing of all encounters with injustice. She was beautiful, a beautiful tan skinned with a lower pink lip. Now he understood why her case had gone south. The infamous Rita Edwards. Her body began to shiver under his intense scrutiny. Malvin didn't move until the watch warned him of the alarming rate her heart was beating. Was she scared of him? Malvin gestured Eric to continue once he noticed the bodyguard had stopped reciting off staff names and was studying him intently. The protection in Eric's eyes for the girl very clear as light. Malvin moved to the front of the assembly when Eric was done and clear his throat. "I am -as you have no doubt, know- Malvin Nwadike. Owner of this Manor, master and protector of all that is under this roof." he said in a calm powerful voice. "I am Malvin, not Mr Nwadike or Sir" he gave Eric a pointed look and Eric flushed. "I will be addressed as Malvin and nothing else." A slight murmur rose among the staff members. "Quiet!" Eric barked. "Thank you Eric. " He continued. "I'll keep odd hours and won't require any of you awake for my sake. If Seven pm is retirement time and I'm not back from where ever I will be going to by then. I urge you don't wait up for me. Moreso, My study is out of bounds to everybody even my mother except for Eric." more murmurs arose. Malvin raised his voice a cadre. "There! Will be no gossip of any sorts about the dealings of this manor with anyone that is not under this roof. You are not to disclose any information to any one -that's including my family - unless I say otherwise." he took a breath. "Notwithstanding the rules, I want a friendly and familial aura about us. If there's any other -" a three year old child came bounding out of a corner, heading blindly towards him. "Mama, mama." the boy stumbled and out of enhanced reflexes, Malvin dived and slid on the marble floor to catch him. Someone gasped. The child giggled, clearly fascinated about the dive, he wanted a repeat. Malvin got up from the floor with the child and settled him on his waist. "What's your name? "He asked the boy. "Gi''on" the boy chuckled. "Gideon? " Malvin asked and he nodded. "Where's mama?" he asked the boy and he pointed to Mrs Akpunaonu. Who was standing face down and drawing circles on the marble, obviously expecting to be fired. "You have a nice boy, my namesake at that. " Malvin said and watched relief flood her. "As I was saying... he went over and gave her the boy.....Eric will confer any other instructions. " he turned and headed up the stairs. *** "What else will you need? " Eric asked after pouring the boss a glass of pineapple juice. "I will like my breakfast brought and that will be all" the boss said quickly. "What would you like to have?" he asked. "Same thing everybody is having." the boss stated as though Eric had just asked a silly question. "Alright. "Eric turned to leave. Malvin sighed. "Wait, sit down. " he said sighing again. Eric turned to his boss and swallowed. "There's something I must say." Malvin said. *** Eric 's brain went overboard. He was overwhelmed. His new boss, Malvin had recounted his documented life right from inception, he even recounted deeds Eric had done while serving in the secret service: deeds Eric himself had long forgotten. The boss told him; he needed his skills and trainings, when Eric had asked why. He smiled and said. "I am expecting a visitor later on today. When he comes all your questions will be answered. Eric ran a hand over his bald head. What was the boss up to? He had to wait to find out. He headed to the kitchen to get his meal. "He is an engima." he heard Mrs Akpunaonu say when he got to the open kitchen door. "You see that dive? E dey like wen Chackie chan dey dive for gun. Na beta action bi dat oo." Woji the chaffeur replied. Eric paused before entering to see where the conversation would lead. "Woji no bi Chackie na Jackie. " Rita corrected. "Forget dat tin! Dat tin na show. Give am one month im go show una say e be rich man pikin." Agnes the skeptic said. Agnes was the cook and she was always wearing a scowl. "Hey! No gossiping about the boss." Eric decided to step in then. Agnes was at the cooker looking prim as ever. Mrs Akpunaonu was at the breakfast bar trying to feed Giddy- as Eric loved to call Gideon - some corn flakes. Woji the chaffeur was by the back door leading to Agnes' vegetable garden, Rita was arranging a tray for the boss and Michael the laundry guy was folding napkins. These six and the security details position all over the large compound were the only staff members the boss had chosen to live in the Night manor. "Na lie! Wetin e talk bi say may we no gossip with anoda pesin wey no dey live for here. Oga Eric you see outsider for here?" Agnes replied. "No, but still, come on? He could have walked in." Eric sighed and went to sit on a breakfast stool. "What do you think of him?" Michael asked. "I can't say for sure. -he whistled- but I have a feeling I will soon find out." "Small oga, If you get tori no forget say I bi your personal pesin." Woji said causing them all to laugh. "I like him." Rita said and every one turned to look at her. It was something she wouldn't normally have said. Eric frowned and she saw. "I mean we should be thankful that he is not one of those spoilt brats. " she explained quickly. "That's true. I thought I was done for, when Giddy ran out; I thought he would fire me for bringing my son to work. " Akpunaonu said. Agnes scoffed. "First time grace. Oya try am again. I tell you say may you lock am for quarters but you no listen. " "Imagine, how I go lock my pikin comot." Akpunaonu hissed. "I think he is kind." Rita said and the others nodded in agreement except from Agnes who scowled. "Alright, enough. " Eric said getting up. " He wants breakfast. " "Wetin he wan chop? Mai show am I bi beta chef." Agnes wiggled her brow. "He wants what everyone else is eating." Eric said shrugging. "Eh?" they all chorused, surprised. "He will eat what we are eating." Eric said laughing. "E bi like say oyibo people Don comot nut for im brain." Agnes replied. Eric nodded in disapproval. " No that's not it. He genuinely kind." Eric heard himself say. "Nkwanu oo." Agnes went over to the kitchen fridge. "I go microwave dat remaining jollof rice and beans." "You dey craze! Leftover for the boss?" Woji snapped. "C'mon Woji, there's nothing wrong with leftovers." the boss walked in and Eric twirled immediately to face him. How much had he heard? "It's better than what I ate last year. " he strolled towards the bar and sat between Eric and Mrs Akpunaonu. The kitchen suddenly went quiet, even Agnes stayed quiet. Everybody stood watching as he played with Giddy. "Come on Agnes, I am starving." she glanced at Eric asking with her eyes what next and the boss followed her gaze. "Do you have an objection to that Eric? " he raised a brow. "No sir." Eric said quickly nodding to Agnes. Does she want to put him in Gbe se! "But you said -" Eric began to say to the boss. "After two minutes of waiting for the said meal, I changed my mind and decided to come down and eat with you guys. Is that an issue? " Malvin asked frowning deeply. "No sir." "Then shush and let's eat." he rolled his eyes. "Come on guys, eating alone in that big study is not all that fun you know? " "Woji get a wine from the fridge, Michael set dishes, Rita we need glasses. Chop chop everyone. Today we will dine together and get to know each other. " simultaneously every one began to scramble about to do as they were told. Eric leaned closer to him and whispered. "Sir this will bring disrespect. " "Eric you would soon learn that I care more about loyalty than respect. What I am doing here is building trust. Trust me." the boss whispered back. "What type of jollof is it?" he said to Agnes. "Oga na Palm oil jollof, we cook am wen we never go market. If you wan I fi cook anoda tin, we don stock up ooo." Agnes said. "Nah don do that." he grimaced. "Actually it's my favorite. " he said and winked at Agnes causing her to Blush heavily. They ate in awkward silence. The boss letting giddy eat from his plate. "You know you guys are a terrible bore." he said after a while. "You are not fun at all, or accepting at that. Na so we go work together?" "Oga no...bi...like...dat ooo." Woji stuttered unsure if he should be speaking at all. "We no ....expect ......dis kine attitude. " The boss laughed. "Stereotypes! Well this is me. Get used to it." he said. "Eric?" a voice said from the intercom at the kitchen counter. "Yes?" Eric answered. "E get wan oyibo man wey dey fine Oga for gate, mai let am through?" "That should be Eisenhower, let him through." Malvin answered. "Eh? Nah Oga bi dat! Wetin im dey fine for kitchen? " the voice said. It was Larry, second to Eric for the security details. "Larry I can still hear you." the boss said laughing and standing. "Come on Eric it's time for answers. " he said and left the kitchen. "Answers? " Agnes asked. Eric ignored her. "Larry let the man into the compound and escort him to the study, we'll meet him there." he turned and followed his boss. At least he would know why the boss needed his cooperation and skills so much. He prayed this meeting will unravel the Mystery himself, his Boss he was beginning to like, Malvin Gideon Nwadike the enigma. A/N That's that for episode three. Expect for more to be revealed about Malvin's crusade in the next episode. Till then I would love to know your thoughts about his household staff. I enjoyed writing Agnes' character (though my pidgin is horrible) . So tell me who is your favorite house mate.(lol its now Big Brother Malvin -not Nigeria.) I appreciate your comments. PS: episode four comes up on Monday. Yours Everly, Malvin *blows a kiss*

Episode Four: The offer. Eric followed his boss silently. A man he was beginning to respect: nevertheless, he was still wary and anxious to know why the boss needed his expertise and skill. When he had been persecuted, all hopes for another job or career had been crashed. No one was willing to associate himself with an ex-secret service agent accused of attempted assassination. So when he had gotten the letter for this job as a Chief Security detail and personal assistant with a pay of 300K with accommodations and other perks, he had naturally suspected something was up. He had taken a huge risk accepting the offer but, the opportunity to get out of prison was too appealing to pass by. No one in Nigeria will pay for a bail worth millions, offer you a job of 300K, feed you, give you a place to sleep and not have a hidden agenda to it. Today he would find out his boss' hidden agenda. The boss opened the library and stepped in, Eric followed and bolted the door shut. "Mr Malvin." the Visitor stood instantly. "Eisenhower." the boss shook the visitors outstretched arm. "This is my right hand man, Amby Eric." the boss added when the man had raised a questioning brow at Eric. ".....It's secure for him to be here." the boss said smiling at Eric. Eric nodded in acknowledgment to the stranger. "Would you like me to get you anything, Sir?" he asked the man as he moved toward the built-in bar. "Just cold water or Juice." the man replied and seated himself. "You boss?" The boss gave a dismissive wave and seated himself at the other side of the table. He engaged the man in small talk as Eric readied a cup. Eric took the opportunity to study Eisenhower. The man was an elderly man, much older than the boss. Whereas the boss was twenty, Eisenhower should be Eighty. He had spottings of gray hair scattered all over his head and it was evident that he wasn't a Nigerian. His complexion was reddened by sun burn. And despite the man's age, he was bubbling with youthful vitality and it made Eric wonder what was at work. Eric dropped two ice cubes into the glass of juice to keep it cold, placed it on a small serving tray with some danish cookies. Though he hadn't been a butler before, he knew what to do because, he had received a two months training on the duties of a butler prior to the boss' arrival. He placed the tray before Eisenhower and returned to the bar. "Eric, Mr Eisenhower is my legal adviser, my attorney... the boss paused. ..... And my arms dealer. " Arms dealer? What was the boss up to? Eric looked from the boss to Mr Eisenhower, both were wearing smiles on their faces. Like that was a common thing to say. "I am also his technology developer and international spy." Mr Eisenhower grinned. These two were mad. "Spy?" Eric repeated. Was the boss a spy for another country? "Do not jump to conclusions, yet Eric. I am not a spy....the boss reassured.....Eisenhower might be a spy but he works for me." "If you're not a spy? What are you boss?" Eric asked, he didn't want anything to do with espionage that might place Nigeria in a precarious position. The boss smiled. "Sincerely I don't know what I am yet- he paused for a second - or what I will become. But I do know it's for the good of us all." "I think the legal sector and law enforcement would dub you as a freedom fighter? " Eisenhower suggested. Eric frowned. "I don't think Eric likes the sound of that? " the boss chuckled, he had noticed the frown. "Perhaps a rebel?" Eisenhower re suggested. Eric's frown deepened. "Nah! Even I don't like the sound of that." the boss laughed. "Vigilante then." Eisenhower said. "Ah! Yes." Malvin acquiesced. "Vigilante?" Eric was getting more confused. "Yes." the boss stood. He walked toward the bar, though the counter separated them both, Eric couldn't help but move back a bit, away from the boss. The boss' friendly aura was gone. The social and cheerful guy had vanished and was replaced with a cold, calculating and intense guy. The boss didn't look his age any more, he looked older, like one who just returned from hell. The change was quick and scary. The boss' eyes were narrowed, bristling with intensity and deadly determination. His gaze trapped Eric's with an intimidating stare, daring Eric to look away. There was nothing deadly with the way the boss had filled himself a glass of water but a deadly chill had filled the room. Eric decided against speaking or moving in fear he might say something thing wrong or do something wrong. Silently he wondered how Malvin could do that. How he could spike a man to fear. Now he understood why the boss needed loyalty more than respect; one look from this his deadly stare and whatever else he was doing, was enough to send the most rebellious of men in spasm of fear and this was no exaggeration. After what seemed like hours, in reality which was some minutes. The boss drained his glass and the chill lifted. The cheerful and social facade returned. He smiled and a sweat broke from Eric's brow. Eisenhower whistled in the background. "I hate it when he does that." he said to Eric. The boss ignored him. "No need to get worked up Eric. I know you think I am dangerous but I would never harm you or anyone under this roof." he turned and returned to his seat. "Unless you oppose our plans. " Eisenhower added and the boss scowled at him. "What exactly are your plans? " Eric asked. "Come and have a seat Eric. " the boss gestured the seat beside Eisenhower. Eric briskly did as told. When he sat down, the lights in the study dimmed instantly. And a holographic two way screen appeared above the desk. It was 15inch wide and 10inches long. The holographic screen held cropped images of a camera view of every room in the Manor even the kitchen and the compound except the staff lodges. That means the boss overheard their conversation in the kitchen. But Eric had not noticed any cameras around the house. The images on the screen faded and the face of the Imo state governor appeared. Eric gritted his teeth. He hated the man with a passion. "Our plan is to eradicate corruption in Nigeria." the boss explained. "We will begin by flaunting the plans of corrupt officials like him. " the boss said pointing to the image. Then he swiped at the surface of the screen and images of other politicians, business men and civil servants began to flash by like a slide show. "How do you intend to achieve this? " Eric asked. The boss smiled and gave Eisenhower a look. "We have our ways but we will need your help to achieve our plans. " Eisenhower answered. "Will these plans involve blood shed?" Eric asked. The boss and Eisenhower laughed. But when the boss answered there was no trace of amusement in his voice. "Blood will spill Eric of that have no doubt. But I assure you no one will die by my hands or ours. " he said. "Are you willing to join us?" the boss asked. Eric sighed. "If I choose not to?" "I will understand. You will still retain your position in my household...the boss paused.....Unless you decide to leave, and want nothing to do with me. I admit that would hurt but your bail wouldn't be withdrawn. " he added. "So Eric what do you say?" Eric thought for a second. He watched the slide show of Nigeria's most corrupt officials flash away on the holographic screen. What could he gain by saying no? A life free of baggage but with no job and meaning. This was a chance to make a change. An opportunity to avenge himself and the others Ikedieze, the governor had hurt. But that didn't stop him from wondering just how Malvin was going to change Nigeria without killing anybody. So when he gave his reply it was more out of curiosity than fear of his future or conviction. "I am in boss." he said. A/N Hey fam! I know this episode was very short but I made it so. You will understand when I post the next episode on Wednesday. So don't kill me or anything related to it. I just wanted to say thanks for all your comments. I saw them and replied but Coolval didn't post it, hmm I wonder what I did to them. *sighs* So I just showed you one of the watches ability, I don't know how many of you caught it. The ability to stimulate hormones responsible for fear in a man's system. I am looking for a cool name for it, any suggestions? And what do you think about Malvin's dark side? Expect to see more of it. Yours in with a Pen and Keyboard, Malvin. *winks*

Episode Five: The Lair. Malvin relaxed but not visibly at Eric's reply. He didn't need the watch to tell him that Eric wasn't fully convinced. At least he had consented. It was now up to Malvin to prove his words. "Good then." Eisenhower said standing. "Time is not on my side, Malvin. Why don't we carry on to why I am really here." "Sure." Malvin replied and waved his hand causing the lights to increase and the holographic screen to disappear. "Lead the way Eisenhower. " he said standing and Eric followed suit. Eisenhower lead them to the back of the bar counter. "Step onto the rug, please. " he said pointing to a chessboard patterned rug. They climbed onto the rug and he tapped a white block twice with his feet and the floor board gave a hiss and began to descend with them on it. Once the floor was over their heads, the opening they had left sealed itself shrouding them in darkness; which was short lived as lights flooded the vent from the walls. Fluorescent bulbs were built into the wall of the elevator vent. "The covering above looks just like the rug we are standing on." Eisenhower said and turned to face the back wall. "And descent into the lair can be overridden by the watch. " he added gesturing them to turn. "Good. That way I can keep track of entry and exit." Malvin replied turning. "By the way have you named the watch yet?" Eisenhower asked. "No, can I do that? " he didn't know that was possible. Eisenhower didn't reply, simply he raised Malvin's right arm, where the watch was camouflaged as an ordinary G-shock digital watch. "Watch drop camouflage." Eisenhower commanded (Good day, Mr Harvey Eisenhower.) The watch's mechanical voice rang out loud in the enclosed space and Malvin from the corner of his eyes saw Eric stepped back in shock. Malvin turned and gave him a reassuring smile. (Apologies, Mr Eisenhower that command cannot be obeyed. I was programmed only to obey Malvin.) it said and Eisenhower snorted. The watch, Malvin had discovered earlier was hard wired, soft wared and designed to obey only his command and Dr Howard's, who was now dead. "Watch, drop camouflage and do as Eisenhower commands presently." Malvin instructed. The watch phased and turned to a complex watch head sticking out of Malvin's wrist like a broken bone. "Ah! Mo gbe! " Eric muttered not believing his eyes. "Watch you will be given a name and from here onward you will answer to that name. Is that clear? " Eisenhower took obvious pleasure in commanding the watch. Ever since the day Malvin had showed Eisenhower the device, Eisenhower had tried to no avail to get the watch to do his bidding. It was now a thing between him and the device. (Yes, Mr Eisenhower.) The watch sounded prim. It wasn't happy about the new development. "What would you like to call it, Malvin. " Eisenhower was grinning from ear to ear in obvious pleasure. Malvin thought for a second. "You will be called Vinny." Malvin said. (Well picked.) Vinny replied. "Good, Vinny can you feel the motherboard of the lair's system? " Eisenhower asked. (Quite well, Mr Eisenhower) Vinny replied. "I want you to access the motherboard and override it. Take 100% control. " he said. (I can't.) "Why not!" Eisenhower snapped. (That's because, Mr Eisenhower the time frame for 'Presently' has elapsed.) vinny retorted and Eric chuckled. Eisenhower turned and smothered him with a withering glare and Eric pretended to cough. "Do it, Vinny." Malvin couldn't help but laugh too. "How deep is the lair, Eisenhower? " Malvin asked since they were still descending. "Thirty feet beneath the manor. " Eisenhower said in pride. "Wow." Eric muttered. "Vinny, can you override the elevator mechanism and make descent faster? " Malvin was beginning to feel claustrophobic. (Yes.) it replied and after a minute the elevator came to a stop; the lights went off, everything stopped working and suddenly they came back to life and the elevator began to drop at a faster pace. (Motherboard override complete. System reboot complete. ) Vinny's voice was no longer coming from the watch but the walls. (I am now in control. Beginning physical scan and bio confirmation. ) it said and a green light fell on Eisenhower and Eric. The elevator came to a final stop. (Mr Harvey Eisenhower, Shola Eric Amby: Welcome to the lair.) Vinny announced. Eisenhower snorted and muttered something about him building the damned lair. With a soft mechanical hiss, the wall we stood facing split apart to reveal a sea of darkness. Malvin was the first to step out of the elevator and the others followed. The only light which came from the open elevator, disappeared when the elevator doors slid back together. "Lights, Vinny?" Malvin called. When the lights came on Eric gasped and Eisenhower grinned. They were on an elevated platform and the Lair was spread out before them. "Welcome to the command center. " Eisenhower said dramatically and pressed a button causing the platform to descend. From the paneled floor of the lair to the magnificently vaulted ceiling was about another 20feet. So from the lair's floor to the manor was a total of 50feet. When they touched the floor, they stepped off the platform and it remained. The command center was drilled into a very large rectangular space. At the right and left walls stood two metal doors each. These doors stood adjacent to each other. And dividing the right wall horizontally at the center was a metal platform, like a balcony which held glass cases like the ones you would find in a mall. One of the cases contained a hollowed mechanical suit a man could enter and It was similar to the weaponized suit used in the movie G.I Joe. Another case contained a metal pack with a pair of goggles and ear piece resting on a utility belt. The case following that one held a hazard suit and head gear. The other cases held white featureless mannequins. Malvin turned his gaze to the left wall, where a platform had divided it too. Instead of cases this time; the platform held stacks and shelves of weaponry. From bladed weapons, to deadly projectiles, to automated guns and explosives enough to wipe out Douglas. "This is a computerized table." Eisenhower said pulling Malvin from his study. They had been moving forward the whole time and now they stood at the center of lair. A round table with a diameter of 180 inches took up most of the space. Fluorescent lights were suspended above it casting a silhouette on everything that wasn't on the table. The top of the table itself gave off it's fluorescent glow. "What can it do?" Eric asked. Malvin was glad he was taking interest in what Eisenhower was saying, cause when he went Avenging, Eric would be here covering his back. "Oh it can- Eisenhower paused to touch the table top and a horizontal 3D hologram of Africa's relief formed. - run blueprints, schematics, maps both in 2d and 3d. It has other functions too, like holographic communication and the rest. Consider it a new age table top computer. " he said and Eric nodded. "And now the command console or bridge. " Eisenhower added with flourish, turning to the end of the command center. On an elevated plaform, like a stage; A very big stage five feet above the ground, was a super computer. Its monitor was divided into three. Each as tall as the ceiling and together, they covered the length of the entire wall. We got onto the platform from stairs built in at the end of each side, to the right and left. At the base of the gigantic monitors, was a keyboard as long and tall as a normal office table. The only unique thing about it was, it was designed to curve like an arc around a swivel chair. The keys on the board were all foreign to Malvin. Silently he hoped Eric would figure how to use it. Eisenhower moved forward and tapped a key twice and the gargantuan monitors came to life. It had camcorder views of every where in the city. "I took the pleasure of bugging the city." Eisenhower explained. (I believe that was a waste of resources. Mr Eisenhower.) Vinny said. (I can hack into the traffic network and make use of their eyes.) "The traffic network has eyes only on the good side of the city." Eisenhower snapped. (True but you forget, I have access to satellites and I can see everything.) vinny retorted. "But not hear everything." Eisenhower came back. "The cameras were designed to look like flies, so they are mobile and can be used for Reconnaissance. " he added. Eric gave an exasperated sigh. "Will you two cut it out? " then he turned to Malvin. "Boss would it be pointless to remind you that I got an F in computer, in My WAEC?" Malvin laughed. "No worries Eric. Vinny is in control of everything. He will guide you through everything. All you need to do is ask and he will do." he refrained from calling the watch an it. "I thought it only answered to you? " Eric cocked a brow. "You have no command over Vinny as a watch. But as the lair's motherboard you do." Eisenhower explained. And Malvin nodded in agreement. "Vinny? Can you pull up a satellite image of the Imo state government house. " Eric tried something. (Absolutely Mr Amby.) the monstrous screens began to show the government house. People were flooding in and out. "Thanks." Eric muttered. "Eisenhower what are those? " Malvin pointed to the glass casings on the right wall. "Those? Follow me." he lead down the console's platform and had them climb a ladder to get to the casings. He started with the metal pack and goggles. "This is a legioner's pack." he touched the glass panel and it slid open. He lifted the pack and gestured Eric to come forward. Eric tentatively stepped forward, and Eisenhower turned him around and placed the pack on his back. Instantly a metal spine shot out of the pack and clasped onto his back. "Ah!" Eric exclaimed. Eisenhower placed the goggles on his eyes, plucked the ear piece into his ear, strapped the utility belt around his waist and then stepped back. "What now?" Eric asked when nothing happened. "Whoa! Mo gbe!" Metal wings shot out of the pack and with one languid flap lifted Eric 6ft above the platform. "I got the idea from the Movie avengers. I just knew there was a tech like that out there, I just had to get it." Eisenhower was grinning. "I call it the Nighthawk, it can serve as a drone and as well a flight pack. It has an A.I of its own. I am sure vinny can override it." (I have done that already.) vinny added. "Eh? Bros oooo. How I go remove this thing. I no like heights, my eye dey turn me." Eric called when the flaps got stronger lifting him higher from the ground. "And I am hearing vinny in my head? Is that good?" he asked in a panicked voice. Malvin laughed. "It's totally safe. " "Instruct it to come off." Eisenhower said. Eric did that and the metal spine unclasped from his back, dropping him with a thud on the metal platform. Eisenhower was quick enough to pluck the pack from the air before it crashed. "You should have waited until you were on the floor. " he reprimanded. Placing the pack back into the case and retrieving the rest of equipment from Eric who was rubbing his sore side. He moved to the weaponized suits. "And this is a mechanized suit. " "Let me guess, another idea from avengers?" Eric said dryly, pissed from his fall. "Oh it's nothing as fancy as the iron man suit." Eisenhower ignored his tone. "But it increases the physical performance of its wearer by a hundred fold and I am not exaggerating. " he parsed loudly. "It can fly, burrow through earth, cut through metal, it's water resistant, it functions under zero and below zero temperature. It's made of Proto Adamantium and vibranium." he continued. Malvin rolled his eyes at all the science. "Where do the other doors lead to?" he asked to cut Eisenhower short. "The doors beneath us?" Eisenhower asked and Malvin nodded. "The door closest to the super computer leads into a medical bay, gym and lab for forensics." he lead them down the ladder. "The other one, holds an interrogation room and state of the art holding cells." he added pointing. "Do you want to see them? " Malvin gave a dismissive wave."The other ones? " he gestured the other two doors at the left wall. "You need to see for yourselves." Eisenhower grinned and made one high pitched noise like an excited teenage girl. He led them to the first door on the left wall and clicked a green button by the side. As the door slid open, lights came on in the chamber. Malvin stepped in behind Eisenhower and his breath caught. Standing beautiful, in raven black was an improved version of the DFL-1238. The craft was well waxed and polished, so pristine that the lights of the chamber bounced off it. This one was customized for a single passenger. Designed for speed and maneuverability, he could tell from its dynamics. "Malvin, Meet the Nightingale, DFL- 1300" Eisenhower said smiling. "Isn't she a beauty, she can move four times faster than the DFL-1238. It's a vast improvement; a submarine, a boat and space craft. It's made of Pro-Ada-Vib (Proto Adamantium & Vibranium) too." he explained. Malvin was enraptured. His love for planes sent him into a sort of trance. He walked forward and touched the craft and it came to life like a beast. (Bonding with the Nightingale successful.) Vinny announced. Sending a mental command, Malvin caused the cockpit's hatch to open and climbed in. Sitting himself he picked up the headset and wore it. Before him where the controls were meant to be, were just screens with touch command effects. There was no steering gear or wheel. (The craft runs on mental and voice command, sir) Vinny explained from the headset. (But if you prefer a more manual approach, that can be remedied.) what looked like a glove compartment opened between Malvin's knees and a steering wheel pushed forward. "That's better Vinny. Keep the steering wheel out always. I feel weird sitting in a craft without a gear or wheel." he said into the headset. He glanced around the chamber through the wind shield. The chamber held nothing else but another door - more like an exit hatch. It was big enough for two planes to fly in and out simultaneously. "What's behind that door?" Malvin asked when he had joined Eisenhower and Eric on the floor. "That's not a door, it's a hatch. And behind it is a tunnel that runs out to the excavated gullies in Aba road." Eisenhower said pronouncing the igbo words stupidly. "What would prevent people from entering the tunnel from the other end and getting here?" Eric asked. "At the other end there's another hatch cloaked to look like the gully wall and besides I bought off that part and closed it off, then we filled it with debris. Trust me no one would near there. " Eisenhower answered. He then proceeded to lead them out of the chamber to the command center and through the second door. They stepped into a smaller chamber. It was retangular in shape and not as big as the other one. It was empty and half portion of the ceiling was opened to become an elevator dyke. The chamber itself was divided by a metal lift shaft, which was grounded. "Where does the lift lead to?" Eric asked. "Up to the isolated garage, at the far end of the Night compound, where the car can leave the compound through a hidden gate, undetected. " Eisenhower answered. "The car? What car?" Eric asked climbing onto the shaft to peer up into the dyke, but he ran into an invisible barrier and Eisenhower laughed. "Kai!" Eric exclaimed pressing his hand on the barrier. "Vinny? " Malvin called. (the car sir.) Vinny replied and a shimmering black car phased into sight. "An invisible car?" Eric said in shock. "Indeed." a grin was evident on Eisenhower's face. "How manage? There had to be a shadow with all the lights. " Eric asked clearly admiring the car. "The body was designed to refract light in stealth mode, hence zero shadow. Same with the Nightingale. " Eisenhower explained. As he rattled off the many many things the car could do, Malvin took his time to study it. It looked like a sports car, with just three seats. The drivers seat in front and at the middle and two others at the back- he knew this from Eisenhower's droning because the wind shield and window were made of mirror glass so he couldn't see inside of it. But he did notice it had no tires, just a flat under. "Where are the tyres? " he asked. "You haven't been listening. " Eisenhower glowered at him. "It has no tyres but a hover system, it's like a big hover board. The hover system runs all through beneath the car. Those exhaust pipes you see there, is really a thruster, used to propel the car forward." he explained pointing to the five exhaust pipes. "It can hover on any surface, name it." he added. "How can you get it to change direction? " Malvin asked curious. "That's a lecture meant for sitting and eating cakes." Eisenhower waved away the question. He probably didn't know the answer, Eisenhower was the last person who would give up the chance to lecture."Believe me it can change direction. How we got it to? Is a long lecture. " Malvin simply nodded. "Is there any other thing I need to know?" "Yes the roof can retract like a convertible. The glass is bulletproof. And in times of heavy artillery, a metal shield protects the glass to prevent penetration. And inside, the windshield can act as a screen to show you the way when the metals are up." he parsed. "The car was structured to always land upright if it tumbles." "Good, cause something like this can easily be displaced. " Eric pointed out. Malvin wanted to agree when Vinny cut him off. (Someone is trying to force entry into the study.) he said. "I guess that's our cue to resurface." Eisenhower said whistling as Malvin lead them out of the chambers, His face filled with simmering fury. Who dared to invade his privacy? Why couldn't they have called? Was the manor under attack? Had they found him? He couldn't jump to conclusions yet. He needed to control himself. Vinny would have warned him of imminent danger if there was any. He just had wait and see. He was the lion here, if they came to his den? Then they must be stupid or really desperate. A/N There! Finally! I really had ups and downs posting this. Was busy yesterday and today but I was determined to drop this. I know there was a lot of tech involved in this, so I am up and ready for any questions you might have. Now, I must appreciate all those who followed this story as I built the characters and plot. I have laid the foundation, now expect some action. Episode six. Comes up on Friday. Yours with a pen and keyboard. Malvin. *sighs in relief

Episode Six: Memories. "Wait! Is there more to see?" Eric asked as they stepped onto the lift that would take them up the elevator door. "Yes, but not in here. Up at the manor- Malvin ignored their chatter, they seemed oblivious to his sudden mood change. He pressed the lift's button and it began to climb. -there are state of the art defense mechanism scattered everywhere.- Eisenhower continued; that statement seemed to make Malvin relax a little. - I am certain Vinny would help you figure them out. " they were now in the elevator and was climbing fast to the manor. The top of the elevator opened up and they emerged into the study. Someone was still banging on the study's door and was yelling something incoherent. Who the hell could that be? None of his staff members would do such a thing. Malvin started to make a beeline straight for the door in a rage when Eisenhower pulled him back. "Remember deep breaths. We need a nonchalant facade. You can't afford to end your crusade when it haven't started. " Eisenhower said and Malvin took a long breath to calm himself. "One more thing before I leave, there are hidden corridors all over the manor and you can get to the study through all of them. Vinny will help you find the access points. And please Mr Nwadike Malvin REMEMBER OUR DEAL. I will send the other package later on." Eisenhower said the last part almost teary-eyed and it made Eric wonder what this deal was. Turning to Eric " it was nice meeting you Mr Amby. If you would please resume your duties as a PA and get the door, I will take my leave. " he shook Eric strongly. "This way sir." Eric straightened his shoulders and lead Eisenhower to the door as Malvin took his seat behind his desk. The was a soft click and the door opened but Malvin didn't look up to see who was disturbing him. Vinny had already told him and he was working on controlling his rage. "Baby! I was beginning to think you were avoiding me." Ms Amanda rushed in with her chirpy voice. Malvin glanced up with a frown. Eric was at the door holding a very angry Rita back and Amanda stood before his desk in a skimpy dress and with a pout. "Amanda what are you doing here? " he scowled. Amanda gasped dramatically. "Is that all you would say to me? Even after that wretched girl -she gave Rita a disgusted look - and your entire staff embarrassed me." Malvin took a deep breath and released his Fear venom (fenom) on her. She whimpered and took a step back from the table. "You were only embarrassed because you came uninvited - He was saying in cold exactness -Rita here and my entire staff were acting on orders I gave them! " he barked. "I was just trying to...." she trailed off. The unnatural fear not allowing her to speak. "To surprise me?" Malvin stood with a scary smile. "You don't know me well enough to know that I don't appreciate people invading my privacy and that's why I will forgive you. " he stopped the Fenom and she almost collapsed in relief. "Why are you here by the way?" "I heard about your fashion complex and wanted to come work with you. I know Nigerian fashion well. You will need me in this venture. " she replied. Eric chuckled from the door and Malvin rolled his eyes. "I don't need you for anything, I barely know you." he said. "Then get to know me. Give me the chance to work with you? " she sounded desperate, Rita scoffed and muttered the word Gold digger. "Why?" Malvin asked. "I can't say yet." she lowered her eyes. "But please I need a job. " she whispered so that the other two by the door wouldn't hear. "Fine you will work for me, as Deon's lead model. " Malvin replied. "Work for you? " Amanda chagrined. "Yes? My home staff work with me. Whereas my business employees work for me." he walked to the bar to pour himself a drink. "You my dear has just proven that you don't know me well enough to work with me. But I wouldn't hold it against you. Since we've only met once." he gestured Rita and Eric to leave. "What do we do with the lady's bags?" Eric and Rita asked simultaneously. Bags? Malvin turned to Eric who nodded at all the pink luggage at the foot of the door. "Erm? What are the bags for?" he asked the hopeful teenager. Amanda smiled. "My home got confiscated, I don't have a place to stay. Your sister said you wouldn't mind if I crashed with you. " Malvin groaned. Oge!!!oge! He made a mental note to call her. "I am not father charity. " he said sighing. "Rita will set you up on any room of her choice. So follow her." "This way!" Rita said too eagerly with a mischievous smile on her face. "Rita?" Malvin called. "Sir?" "Be nice." he said. "Certainly sir." she nodded and shyly ushered Amanda out. Gawd! His home was silently becoming a house of commotion. God knew he didn't need this distraction. He heard the door closed and turned to see if Eric was still there. "Who is she boss?" Eric asked amused. "Long story. " Malvin sighed. "Careful, she has rich man hunter written all over her." "I am well aware. " he sighed. " we still have other things to figure out. Come on " Eric's face darkened in recognition, as it dawned on him that his boss' agenda was for real. For a minute there he had forgotten their voyage under the manor. The look on his face made Malvin remember just how real his situation had felt in the Unh'chaka forest. *lacking water and appopriate food, weak with malaria, my body ridden with sores and insects bites. My flight suit tattered and the suit case still clinging to my belt. I wandered around in the African rain forest not knowing if I had spent weeks or possibly months in the forest trying to hide from the ghost operatives that had shot down the DFL-1238. The thick undergrowth and canopy of trees made it impossible for me to tell day from night. I waded through knee deep river of fallen leaves, I was trying to stay awake because I was hungry and tired. And I was moving in the general direction my mind told me was north. It must have been very late in the night because the sounds of crickets were maddening and the calls of owls were loud and evident. My gaze jumped from one tree to another in hopes that I would see a fruit tree I recognized that was safe to consume. I cursed the air marshal who had put me in this predicament. Me Nwadike Malvin Soromkenechukwu Gideon, a civilian pilot who had no military training or survival training. What had he been thinking when he sent me on this fake drill. I heard a twig snap above the trees and I froze and crouched, my eyes darted around trying to spot a shadow or a silhouette. Anything at all but I couldn't see anything, my eyes weren't made for the dark. There was another snap but to my right this time. Was it a predator? Didn't this forest have loads of them? Snakes, big cats or was it a ghost operatives. I registered a movement off my right and I twirled sharply and held up the suitcase like a shield. From the shadows came a deep growl, my legs became boneless instantly when my eyes fell on and was trapped by huge yellow eyes. I swallowed when the creature, whatever it was snarled and showed me a fine set of vicious caked canines. All I could make of the creature were its yellow eyes and teeth. I saw the eyes lower and I knew it was preparing to pounce. And pounce it did with a snarl. I hid behind the suitcase and felt the creatures powerful claws rake it. Swinging wildly and blindly with the case; I heard and felt it impact with flesh, where I had hit the creature? I don't know but it must have hurt because it gave an angry whimper. I knew I had just made the creature angrier but I didn't wait to find out what it would do next, I turned and ran blindly like a rat through the forest, my hands outstretched to grope for trees. I couldn't hear the creature chasing after me but I knew it was, so I kept on running. I stumbled, got up and continued running until suddenly it felt like the ground had been cut off beneath me and there was no more land to run on. I fell head first into a deep unknown and landed in muddy water with worms swimming inside. It was a gully, a trap for game. For the ghost operatives? I felt woozy, I must have hit my head against a low hanging branch in my mad dash because my vision was blurry. With it though I could make out those menacing yellow eyes. The creature was prowling at the edges of the gully, snarling profusely and tempting to Jump in after me. Before I passed out. I saw a feminine silhouette join the creature. The feminine silhouette said in a soothing voice as though en treating the creature. "Talya! Bechk nuv." she chanted and the creature retreated. The next time I woke, the sun was on my face and I was naked and confused. A cold chill ran down my spine when a soft breeze caressed my skin. My eyes were still closed, I feared my predicament because I could feel my hands were tied to a pole and my legs were bound also. My thoughts went to the suitcase, I couldn't feel it on me. I could hear voices, people were speaking but I couldn't understand their language. It was strange but yet soothing and easily rolled off the tongue. I heard the voices come closer to my position, I pretend to be asleep. Some one prodded me with a stick. "¿Hiia ysh shteeyli shliaapiynj" some one said. It sounded like a question. "Pireateendynj" another scoffed. "Hiiarea" a blow landed on my stomach. "Jesus!" I screamed and opened my eyes. Sure I was hung suspended from a tree trunk, naked as the day I was born. I could see welts and bruises all over my dirty body. "Shaa." I looked down to find a guy and girl eye level with my crown jewels. They were naked too save for a piece of rag they used to cover their private parts. Their bodies were smeared in brown red mud and oil. They wore bone beads on their neck, waist and ankles. Then an animal hide band on their biceps and thighs. Cannibals? The guy looked tough as nail and stood proud with a warrior's handsome face. He had a domine's posture and he held a staff, which had to be the cause of my pain. He was grinning. "Aaah! You wake." the girl said in awful English. I turned my gaze to her, she was a beauty despite her unruly and uncombed hair. She was dark skinned with strange golden eyes that captivated me and she had my suitcase under her arm. "You come, we kestions for you. " she gestured the case. "Questions?" I wheezed out. "Iash!" she nodded excitedly, pleased that I understood her. Turning to the guy she said. "Brenq hiiym" and walked away. The guy pulled on a branch and the rope that held me snapped, dropping me on my face. He laughed and roughly pulled me up. He nudged me to follow after the girl. "Velik!" he ordered. I did as ordered and followed the girl. It seemed as if we were on a big tree camp, we were walking on a very broad branch, the branch was wide enough and thick enough to hold small huts. This was a tree settlement built over the forest undergrowth but below the first treetop canopy, which allowed enough light to tell day from night but enough to conceal the camp from aircrafts or drones. As we passed by, people came out of their tree huts to gawk at me. The girls would stare at my sex and giggle, while the guys would snarl like cats. These were the natives of the Unh'chaka forest. I followed the girl until we came to a clearing, a clearing made of naturally interwoven branches; of large vine branches. It was like a village square. I was taken to the middle of the square and forced to kneel. The girl climbed unto an elevated branch that had an old man sitting on a throne made of trunks. She bent and whispered to the man. The natives gathered round the square. "Mae Lowena, You?" the girl turned to face me. "Malvin." I replied beating my chest. "I am Malvin. Me Malvin. " "Mavlin!" she smiled nodding. "You one of- she pointed to the undergrowth. - One of Ground walkers? " I was completely confused. "Ground walkers?" I repeated. "Iash, ground walker." she mimicked a man carrying a gun. "Dem wit stick thunder. " she made the sound of a gun shot. Realization dawned on me; she was talking about the ghost operatives. "Ground walkers and stick thunder kill my we." she gestured the natives. "You ground walker?" "No!" I said quickly. The old man I quessed was their leader rapped to her in their language and she gave a reply that made the natives scoff. "You lie! We beleve nut." she said to me. "I am not lying - I tried to stand but the guy with the staff knocked me down, I glared at him.- look I have no stick thunder. " "We beleve nut, stick thunder here. " she raised the case and the native gasped when the sun glinted off the metal. "No, no! No stick thunder in there. " even as I said these, I realized that I didn't know what was in the case. "Chuma! Chaka Tayla!." she began to chant and every where went silent. She entered into a trance and her mantra grew louder. Suddenly she stopped. There was a resounding snarl in the branches above and every one shifted back from the middle of the square, even my staffed tormentor. Right before me, a dark furred jaguar dropped from the canopy and I stumbled back. It snarled and pinned me with it's yellow gaze. I just knew this was my last night's predator. "Hiiarea" lowena said to the creature and it turned and catwalked to her. Everyone feared the jaguar except Lowena. She lifted the case and it sniffed at it, then it licked it and the natives cheered. I didn't know what that meant. Did it mean dinner time? I lost all sensible thinking when the jaguar leaped to the middle of the square where I knelt. It glared at me and bared its teeth then pressed it's cold nose at me and took a long sniff all the while not removing it's gaze from mine. Then it licked my Face. "Nut ground walker!" Lowena declared and I nearly collapsed........* A/N My deepest apologies for not posting as I promised too. I have started work as a teacher so I am finding it hard to divide my time into writing lesson notes and episodes. But don't worry I am working on a system to remedy that. So this is two books in one, the life of Malvin in the Uhn'Chaka forest and in Nigeria, so whenever you see *thh* know it's a retelling. So what do you think of my language, I formed it myself . A:e, B:b, C:ch, D:d, E:a, F:fw, G:gee, H:hii, I:y, J:g, k:k, L:li, M:m, N:n, O:u, P:pi, Q:qc, R:re, S:sh, T:tee, U:o, V:w, W:v, X:xee, Y:i, Z:zi. This are the letter codes to decipher the language. Episode seven comes up on Saturday. Drop a comment to indicate you are still following. I love it when you do. Yours in servitude. Malvin. *smiles*
