I’ve watched movies, read stories and even heard of news relating to a crime. I didn’t know how it felt to be in this kind of a situation, but I wanted to someday witness, only that I never knew it would be this early.
CHAPTER ONE
Allakamina Jewelry Limited, Abuja.
2026
* * * * *
It was a hot sunny afternoon; I rolled up my sleeve so as to get comfortable attending to the customers lined up in front of me.
After a few minutes, my computer went blank, which definitely meant one thing-(there was a power outage), but it was kind of unusual at this moment in time.
While I was ruminating on what the cause mightbe, a black van pulled up outside and suddenly, the door burst wide open ushering in three gunmen all dressed in black.
They shot the two security men standing at the entrance instantly and then one of them shouted “Everybody Down!” After which there were series of shooting at the lights and cameras.
Everyone laid down quietly, some shivering and panicking. I noticed two old couples muttering some words to each other and I felt pity.
I couldn’t take it anymore so I decided to do something. I picked up the phone quickly to call the emergency number but before I could do so, one of the gun-man ran towards me and landed me with a heavy kick; I staggered and fell to the floor shattering the phone in pieces.
He approached me; hit me with the butt of his rifle and everything dark.

I brought out my phone to check who was calling-it was my girlfriend.
Caller: hello baby.
I: hi love.
Caller: I’m back at Abuja right now and I’ve missed you so much.
I: yeah, me too.
Caller: can you come pick me after work so we could go get dinner.
I: oh! Definitely, I’d be right there.
I: love you baby.
Caller: love you dear.

* Now *
Few minutes later, I regained consciousness. I opened my eye a little, it was blurry but after a few seconds, it was clear again.
This time, I had been tied to a desk with a tape covering my mouth so as not to utter a word.
I sat there helplessly.
“Oh! What a cruel fate” I thought.
I moved a bit and I felt a sharp pain on my head. Something struck my mind
“Why had the gun man let me live? why didn’t he just shoot me? Why had he covered my mouth after tying me down?”
I was curious.
I watched as goods were being carried away and lots of jewelry worth billions of naira.

Finally, they were done and ready to move out, but something strange happened, the gun-man that attacked me earlier looked back at me. He had this kind of an apologetic face but then dashed away to join his colleagues. They all entered the van and sped off.
Minutes later, the police arrived but it was all too late. The deed had been done.
One of the cops came and untied me, he told me I’d be needed for questioning and I said ok. I was about moving when a text-message was received on my phone, it was from an unknown number but i opened it and it read thus:
“You wanted it, and now you’ve got it”
