When i came out of my house this morning,on my way to work,i saw some people gathered in our street.
I knew something was wrong but i wasn't really interested in finding out what actually happened.
I hurriedly stopped a bus and prayed he had "change" because the smallest denomination with me was 500naira.
I rejoiced when he said he had "change"
I know why i asked him in the first place.Its because i hate insults and embarrasments.
Just as i entered the bus,i discovered they were talking about the gathering of people in our street.
It was then i got to know the reason why people gathered in our street that morning.
Two able bodied boys had been caught by the vigilante group.
The boys were said to have broken into one house to steal but unfortunately,they met their waterloo.
About a minute after the bus took off from where i stopped it,we saw the two boys.When i say boys,i dont mean small boys but i have to call them boys.
I am pretty sure no one of them was below 27 years of age.
I regretted ever entering that bus.
If i had walked down the street a little more,i could have seen the boys well and take good pictures of them.
The bus driver should have told me he had no "change".
With the limited viewing time i had in the fast moving bus,i was able to see that their backs were designed mercilessly with cains as they were shirtless,just boxers and hand-chained with the vigilante group leading them slowly to their office to the entertainment of everybody.
The bus driver showed us some of their girlfriends as they were also watching the little drama.
"Maybe na their girlfriends ask dem for money"He added.
Some of the pessengers added that the tall one lives with his parents in their big mansion and they pointed at the big house for some of us to see and that left me wondering why he chose to spoil his name.
He doesnt pay for rent and i am equally sure he doesnt provide money for food.
Then the bus driver said something that got my attention.
"Na the worst disgrace for life be dis.
E go better say my mama and papa hear say i impregnate woman than to hear say i go thief for pesin house"
Hmmm...What do you make of that statement?
Is it truly better to be heard that you impregnated a girl than that you were caught stealing?
