EPISODE 1... ************** Milk in the hands of the tyrant A long tym ago, in the western part of Nigeria, was a village known as OROPO. As the name implies, the village possessed a large scale of land. This land of OROPO was “flowing with milk and honey”. The land could grow any kind of crop, the yield every year was bountiful not to talk of the animals in d forest that makes any hunter who ventures into the forest happy, because he knows he going to have a big catch. Clean water from various rivers and streams were not exceptions of the natural endowment of OROPO village. But the people of this village suffered from a tyrant king. He was known as OBA ADEAGBO. Adeagbo will always say to himself; “my fathers fought for this land, where were their fathers” he will boostfully say. “all the farm animals, forest animals, farm products infact everything belongs to me Adeagbo, whatsoever I want will I give to the people and that’s whenever I want it”. He will always laugh after saying this loudly in his beautiful, well-decorated and big palace. He had only one chief, definitely it will be his beautiful wife ADESEWA. Adesewa took after her husband, she was so proud and arrogant. ADESEWA was the controller of all the women at that time. She had hundreds of girls as her servants. Adesewa was cruel too, seizing daughters to become servants, beheading men who went against her wishes and so many abominable things she did to her people. The people suffered from this royal couple for a long time. (What is the solution to the problem of these helpless people…hmmm…who knows…). ***************** At the extreme end of the village which serves as a border between OROPO and the NEXT village called ARAROMI, lived a farmer and young lady that happened to be the wife of the farmer. The farmer’s name was OGUNDELE and his wife, FOLASHADE. This couple were a bit comfortable than any other family in the village because DELE practised a large scale in Araromi which was close to his house but pretends to be cultivating a small plot of maize beside the house so that the king’s guards will not know anything about his survival. A faithful day, Dele went to perform farm practices on his land in Araromi village. Dele was a very strong and hard working young man. As soon as he got there, of a surprise to him, the clouds began to change, everything was becoming dark looking as if it wants to rain. Dele was feeling dizzy heavily to the extent that he fell to the ground at some point. Dele’s eyes began to close when he observed that spirits were coming out of the surrounding trees……(What happened to Dele? Were the spirits after Dele? Why were they after Dele?…that’s what we will get to know in the next episode. Bye for now…) To Be Continued.....

EPISODE 2... ************** (You are welcome to another episode of this story. Do you remember we were talking about some spirits moving towards Dele… let’s get to know what happened) Dele was on the ground, his eyes were closing, the spirit were moving closer. The spirits were seven in number with the intention of passing some messages to Dele. Dele was conscious but his eyes were closed, too heavy for him to open because he was weak. The spirits surrounded Dele and immediately Dele was feeling cold and shivering. “Dele, you don’t know us but we know you” said one of the spirits. “We are the seven warriors that fought for OROPO land and forcefully took it away from the foreigners. We sent away all wild animals in the land and made it to be a village. We gave it the name OROPO because of the resources that is in abundance”. Another said “Dele, the trees, the wind, the waters and the land have received the grief and groaning of OROPO people. The gods have heard them and the gods are ready to deliver them”. Their voices were loud echoes of sound which seemed to be travelling afar but it was only directed to Dele. “Dele, we are not here to terrify you but here to deliver the message of the gods to you”. And their voices were unified and they said, ” Your flesh and blood will deliver this land Your flesh and blood will rule this land His flesh and blood will kill him”… After saying all these statements, they vanished slowly and passed away with the wind. Dele was still on the ground, tired, terrified, and still cold. After a while, a man who was tall, dark in complexion, with a great physique came out of the deep part of the forest which was near to the big farm of Dele in Araromi. The man was actually going home when he saw the body of Dele on the ground thinking it was a dead body. “Who is this?” He said quietly to himself. He turned the body in such a way that its facing heaven to realise that its Dele and that he is not dead.( You will be wondering how did he know Dele. The man’s name was OGUNSAKIN, a hunter in Araromi village who was in a trade by barter business with Dele; giving Dele meat in turn for Dele’s farm products. Sakin, also was a good friend to Dele). ***************** “Dele! Dele!” Sakin shouted his name, and after noticing that Dele did not answer, he carried Dele to his own home which was located in the middle of Araromi village. Sakin took care of Dele. Dele was okay and could actually recognise Sakin. Dele explained everything to Sakin but he couldn’t remember what the spirits told him. Early the following morning, Folashade who was worried about her husband that has not returned from the farm since the previous day. “Where did he branch?”, “what is he doing?”, “what happened to him?” These are the thought of the beloved wife of Dele. “How I wished he was home now to rejoice with me” she said. Not quite long after Folashade’s thoughts, sitting outside their clay moulded house, she saw Dele and Sakin coming from afar. She ran towards them, Dele face was still very dull and he still looks tired. “What happened?” She asked Sakin. “Just let him go in and rest properly” Sakin replied. Folashade offered food to both Dele and Sakin, “not now” Dele said faintly. “But before you sleep, oko mi(my husband), I’m pregnant” she said with so much joy. Sakin rejoiced and congratulated both of them but Dele couldn’t express his joy because he was still tired inside, he could only kiss Folashade and looked up to heaven to thank the gods. Afterwards he slept. Meanwhile in the palace, there was so much joy and happiness because the queen, Adesewa also had conceived a child. The king, Adeagbo called his People to come over to his palace. He gave them foods, meats, drinks and there was merriment. ************************* (Is the king beginning to change? Has the gods forgiven him? What happened to Dele and the message of the gods? Follow this tale to know what happened…thanks for your time…Bye for now)

EPISODE 3... ********************* (You are welcome to another episode of this story, king is happy, is the people happy too? Let’s continue) Dele woke up the next morning to discover that his wife was not beside him on their mat. “Sade! Sade!” He called his wife. Sade came into the house with a plate full of eba and another filled with well-prepared efo soup with meats Sakin gave to Dele.”Am here, I went to prepare our breakfast” that was Sade replying her husband. The farmer and his pregnant wife ate to their satisfaction. They became so intimate. “Thank you my love”.Dele said to his wife. Sade with a sense of pity asked her husband, “when will all this evil from this king end? Why would the gods and our ancestral seven warriors continue to see the people suffer?”. Dele was shocked because his wife knows about the seven warriors. “how did she know the seven warriors? Has she heard of the prophecy?” Dele thought to himself. “Sade, how did you know about the seven warriors of OROPO?”. He asked his wife. ” Ha ah, when I was young, my father use to call myself and my other sisters outside to tell us stories, the seven warriors of OROPO is one of the stories he told us and its not a secret story to anyone living in the village” she replied her husband. “Maybe because my father died when I was a young boy, is the reason I don’t know about the story”. Dele said. Dele still doesn’t want to tell his wife of the incident that happened in Araromi village, in other to change the topic, Dele with a smile on his face asked his wife “what name should we give our child?”. “With the way am feeling the child in my belly, I think the child will be a boy and we will call him OGUNLANA” she replied her husband. Dele took a nap after which he went to his farm in Araromi village to work. (The heart of a man is full of evil, who can comprehend him? Who will tame him?) This is the situation of Oba Adeagbo when he asked the guards to send the people who were celebrating the conception of his first child away. “Send them away, let them return to their miserable lives”. Said Adeagbo. That night, when Dele returned from his farm. He sat down at the front of his house facing the star-studded dark night, looking up to heaven. He was trying to remember what the spirits told him but he couldn’t. “Is this not going to be a problem for me and my family later on?” He thought to himself “Eleda mi, ma fi mi si le o”, this is what Sade heard Dele saying when she came out of the house. “You are back, what’s wrong?!” She asked her husband, sitting intimately beside him with her arms all around him. “Am just trying to beg the gods to make our child live comfortably more than us ife mi” he lied. “Don’t worry my husband, I know the gods will send a deliverer to us”. At this point, Dele began to remember the prophecy but it was still not clear. The two went in to sleep. In Dele’s dream, the spirits came to remind him of the prophecy.”Dele, truly Adeagbo is our son but you are going to conquer him”. One of the spirits said. Dele woke up, it was day break already. He could now remember the three prophecies well. So as not to forget, he went straight to Sakin’s house at Araromi village to tell him. “The prophecy is strange and confusing, how will his flesh and blood kill him,is he going to have a disease or what?”. said Sakin after which he was told about the prophecy. “That was all they told me and till now that’s all I know” replied Dele. “Have you told your wife?” Sakin asked. “I don’t want to tell her because of her condition. Wo, Sakin I have to leave now”. After Dele said this, he went back to his farm to work for the day. **************** Months later, when it was time for the queen, Adesewa to give birth. Adeagbo travelled to another village. Adesewa gave birth to a baby girl but the king was not around to make the announcement. Days after which she gave birth, Adeagbo was still not around in the palace. Adesewa was very angry and sad. The mystery was that, Folashade also has birth to a baby boy. There was dancing and singing around Dele’s house to the extent that the angry queen heard their merriment. “Adisa! Akin!” The queen called two guards. ” Go and check what is causing that noise”. The guards went and came back to tell Sewa that they also gave birth that’s why they are rejoicing. “How can they give birth to a child, the same time with mine and they are even making noise, go and bring me the child and the parents now” Sewa said angrily. The guards did as they were instructed. “Take them to the prison, when my husband comes around, I will execute them”. ***************** (You are trying to imagine how wicked Sewa is, if they will be executed how will the prophecy come true? Will the king ever come back…to be continued…thank u for your time…bye for now)

EPISODE 4... ************** ( You are welcome to another episode of this story, I know you want to know what happened to Dele and his family…let’s continue…) ********************** What a way to start a life,as Dele, his wife and son slept in the prison without giving the child a name. They were in that prison for four(4) days. What a way to start a family **indeed. On the fifth day, the king arrived. He came with foreigners who wants to trade for the farm products in his store. “Kaaaaabiesi ooo” all that servants at the entrance welcomed him. The oldest of them all said “kabiesi, you now have a princess”. “Do you mean my wife has given birth” the king asked joyfully. The king didn’t wait for anyone one to answer, he went straight to the queen’s room. “Olori mi, iyawo mi, ololufe mi, I heard we now have our own child” the king said with a smile on his face. “What if we don’t have our child, why did you just leave me like that? Its not fair! Adeagbo, its not fair!” Sewa was trying to express her anger and sadness. “I know you have all the reasons to be angry, but I’m sorry”. Adeagbo kissed his wife. They brought the baby to him. “She is beautiful just like her mother” Adeagbo said while looking into the baby’s eyes and immediately, he called the baby girl EWAADE. Adeagbo called for another merriment with the people. The people came again. (You will be thinking these people are foolish, hmmm, No they are not, they are just helpless. They have no choice.) During this merriment, the king’s attention was called to the Dele and his family in the prison. Adeagbo was drunk, he didn’t know when he asked the guards to let them go. Dele and his wife went straight to Sakin’s house in case the king will later change his mind. The king as usual sent the people away when he tired of the noise around his palace. The people continued to live in hardship and operated under tyranny. After five years, Dele and his wife alone came back to OROPO, leaving their son OGUNLANA in Araromi with Sakin. Life of hardship continued. Have the gods forgotten their promise? Why the delay? Dele and Sade were becoming old, what a love life they lived. They had to call OGUNLANA to come and stay with them so as to help them in cooking and to maintain his father’s farm land. At this moment, OGUNLANA was fifthteen. A handsome young boy like his father. EWAADE also has started commanding, but there was something about her, she treated all her servants like friends even though they run errands for her because she had a soft heart. Ewaade followed her servants on their way to the stream one day, it was a taboo for the princess to go near a river or stream. It was a rule used to protect her from danger. Ewaade stood near a tree waiting for her servant who has gone to the stream to fetch. “What is taking them so long? Am tired and I want to go home” Ewaade said to herself. Ewaade kept on waiting. While was waiting she saw a boy pluckin and gathering fruits from a tree nearby. “Hey! You! Come here!”. It was OGUNLANA. He answered and said ” why are you calling me?”. “Don’t you know me?” Ewaade asked “then please tell me who are.” Ogunlana answered. Ewaade was shocked, seeing a person to confront her for the first time but she actually like his confidence. “He is behaving like our guards” she thought to herself. “What is your name?”, “am Ogunlana” he replied. “Well am princess Ewaade”. “Ye mo gbe” Ogunlana exclaimed on his knees. “Your highness am sorry, I didn’t know you were the one”. Ewaade seeing a handsome boy, smiled and carried ogunlana up on his feet. “There is no problem” she said. And this was the time her servants were passing. Ewaade waved goodbye and followed them home. On their way home, Ewaade asked the servants ” do you anyone of you know that boy?”. All of them replied. “We don’t”.”I want to know that boy” Ewaade thought to herself. Ogunlana immediately liked the princess but he knows he is inferior to her. Because of this Ogunlana will go and sit under the same tree whenever he is less busy so as to see the princess again. The princess after some days sneaked out of the palace to the tree where she met Ogunlana. Ogunlana was there busy eating the fruits he has gathered. “Hey! Am happy to see you” said Ewaade. Ogunlana stood up quickly and asked her to sit. Ogunlana offered princess part of the fruits he gathered. “Thank you very much, I will keep it and eat it when I get to the palace” said the princess. It was obvious that the two were becoming intimate and even falling in love. “See you later” the princess waved bye. When the princess got home, she took out the fruit and was to eat…. “What are you doing? Where did you get that from?” The king asked and the princess was shocked and afraid… ********************** ( Do you remember its a taboo to harvest any crop to one’s self except if permitted by the king. If she says its Ogunlana who gave it to her, Ogunlana and his parents will die. If she lies she will be punished. What is that one statement that will bring punishment to either princess or Ogunlana? Follow this story to know what will happen…tnx for your time…bye for now). ***************** Don't Forget To Drop Your Comment

EPISODE 5.... ************* (You are welcome to another episode of this story, what will the princess say? Will she lie? Ok let’s continue…) **************** The king kept on asking Ewaade that same question. You could see the fear all over the princess’ face. Suddenly she came up with an idea; “kabiesi, the foreigners who came from LAYIPO village to trade with you, gave me the fruit when they were leaving”. “Are you sure?!” Asked the king. “Yes, I’m” the princess replied. “Whenever this kind of gift is given to you, make sure you tell me”. The king left her room. Ewaade was still terrified but as soon as she remembered her day with Ogunlana, she was relieved and she finished the fruit. She couldn’t wait for the following day to come, she was always happy around Ogunlana. The following day came, Ewaade was sneaking out of the palace as usual but this time she was caught by one of the king’s personal guards, Adisa.”Where are you going to?” Adisa asked. Ewaade was frightened because Adisa was the leader of all other guards in the palace and he was very wicked too. “I’m going to see a friend along the stream, I just want to go and play” the princess replied. Adisa thought it to be a normal thing for a child to play, so he allow her to go. “come back early o” Adisa warned the princess. “I will and please don’t tell kabiesi”. So she left, she met Ogunlana and played as they use to. She will not want to leave him but Ogunlana will force her when the night is drawing near. This continued for a long time. On a fateful day, Ogunlana and Ewaade were together, Ewaade was tired of the usual things they do when they are together. ” ‘Lana, can’t we do some other things other than gathering fruits, eating and talking?” Ewaade asked. Ogunlana was thinking and he came up with an idea, “do you mind if I take you to my father’s farm and his friend’s house in the neighbouring village?!. Ogunlana asked. Ewaade was happy, not just taking a walk with Ogunlana but also going out of the village for the first time. “I will like to follow you, let’s go”. Ewaade replied. ******************* Meanwhile in the palace, the king was sitting on his throne thinking, “Adeagbo, you are growing old. Now that I have a child, I think it is time I started showing her some vital places where I trade because death can come anytime” the king thought to himself. So he planned to take a trip with his daughter Ewaade to the villages where he trades. “Ewaade! Ewaade!” The king was calling her but there was no response. So he decided to go her room, to his surprise the princess was not there. “Adisa! call me all the servants in the palace”. Adeagbo commanded. All the servants came. “Who has seen the princess today?!” Asked the king. There was no response, “answer me!” The king shouted. There was no response still. “You all are deaf abi. If I don’t see my daughter by sunset, I will ask the guards to kill all of you. Immediately the king said this, one of the servants, out of fear decided to say what she knows. “Kabiesi, I think she might be with Ogunlana”. “Who is the bastard called Ogunlana?” The king asked. “He is a boy who lives along the border of our village and ARAROMI”. She replied. The king ordered the guards to go there and arrest him. Ogunlana and Ewaade had already gotten to Sakin’s house in Araromi after showing her his father’s farm on their way there. The guards got to Ogunlana’s house. “Is anyone in this house?!” One of the guards asked. Ogundele came out. “Please is this the house of Ogunlana?” one guard asked. “Yes, this is his house and I’m his father but he is not around”. Ogundele said. “Your son has the princess in his custody and the king asked us to bring him, so since we can’t see him we will take everyone else in this house to the palace” the guards took Ogundele and Sade his wife forcefully to the palace. When they got to the palace,”are you the parents of the boy that kidnapped my daughter? The guards will go and search and if they don’t see my daughter before sunset, I will behead the two of you”. The king asked the guards to take them to prison. ****************** (Ogundele is in trouble again, will Ogunlana come back quickly? Who knows how the prophecy will be fulfilled? Follow this story to the very end…thanks for your time… Bye for now.)

EPISODE 6 ************** (You are welcome to the final episode of the story, what will be his fate of Ogundele this time?…let’s continue…) Ogundele and his wife were taken to the prison after which the king commanded. At this time, Adisa was also thinking, “this king is so heartless, I can now see. If he can do this to other people then what is our fate? He can actually do the same to us too. It is time I started going along with the people and not him anymore” Adisa thought to himself. Then he secretly left the palace to look for Ewaade and Ogunlana. Ewaade and Ogunlana were now in Ogunsakin’s house. “uncle sakin good afternoon” ogunlana postrated and Ewaade also knelt down. “How are you and who is this with you?” Sakin asked. “She is the princess of our village” Ogunlana replied with a smile on his face. “Do you mean the daughter of Adeagbo, your king?!” Sakin asked again with a surprise. “Uncle, is there a problem about that?” Ogunlana asked. While Ogunlana was saying all this, Sakin was thinking to himself…” Is this how the gods want to fulfil their prophecies” sakin thought to himself. “My daughter, I’m sorry. We will be back. Lana please follow me”. Sakin took Ogunlana to backside of his house. He told Ogunlana the prophecy and the story behind prophecy. “Look my son, it is the plan of the gods for you and princess to kill the king. So that you will become the king of OROPO” Ogunsakin added. “Uncle sakin, everyone knows how wicked the king and his guards is. I don’t think I can do such a thing. I’m very scared right now. Uncle sakin, I will like to go home and confirm what you said from my father” after Ogunlana this, Ogunlana and Ewaade left Sakin’s house immediately. Ogunlana told Ewaade everything his father’s friend told him on their way home. Adisa was already waiting for the two of them. “Ha ah, Adisa what are you doing here?” The princess asked in surprise when she saw him standing at the entrance of Ogunlana’s house. “The king is looking for you. One of your servants have told the king about Ogunlana that’s why he arrested his parents” Adisa said. “My parents!!!” Ogunlana exclaimed. After Ogunlana said that statement, Adisa began to cry. “Adisa, why are you crying?” Ewaade asked. “The king said he will kill his parents if he doesn’t see you by sunset. And this is sunset already”…. Adisa finished this statement when Ogunlana wanted to run to the palace, but Adisa held him. “You better don’t go, the king will just kill you too”. Adisa told Lana. Lana was in great pain and sadness at that present moment. All what Adisa said was true. The king had ordered his guards to kill Ogundele and Sade. And also to give their bodies to the lions at the back of his palace. What a tragedy it was for Ogundele and his wife. Ogunlana cried and looked up to heaven…”Oh ye gods, have you forgotten your promises? If you can fulfil your prophecies, why did you tell us?”. “Please don’t say that to gods, the prophecies will come to pass”. Ewaade tried to console Ogunlana. “Wait, what prophecy are you talking about?” Asked Adisa. Ewaade told Adisa everything about the prophecy. “I think I know about this prophecy” Adisa said. “How did you know about it?” Ogunlana asked with surprise. “When I was taking a stroll one day, an old man was reciting a poem to the children around him, he said “OROPO my land, OROPO my happiness You will rise again, you will rise again Your flesh and blood will conquer you Your flesh and blood will deliver you….” He continued but I lost interested so I moved on to continue my stroll. Even after that time, I have been thinking about the poem but now I understand” Adisa said. The words of Adisa gave Ogunlana who was sad a confidence that he could avenge his parents. He rushed down to Ogunsakin’s house, Adisa and Ewaade followed him. “Uncle, the king has killed my parents…if I avenge them now, the gods will support me” Ogunlana said while he was crying heavily. Ogunsakin, who was becoming old couldn’t do anything but went in and he brought out his hunting gun and he gave it to Ogunsakin. “I think its time for the prophecy. Go and shoot that bastard” Ogunsakin said with so much pains in his heart. Adisa collected the gun from Ogunlana so that he wouldn’t mishandled the gun. The night was drawing near already when Ogunlana got to the palace. “You this wicked bastard that calls yourself a king, you better come out now!” Ogunlana shouted with all boldness and confidence. ( What a confidence in a 16 years old boy). The king came out. “And who are you?” The king asked looking at Ogunlana as if he was a rat. “I’m the Ogunlana you are looking for” he replied. “Where is my daughter?” The king was moving closer to ogunlana. “…you better step back or I will shoot you” Adisa said after he came out of his hiding place. The king was surprised and he said, “did you join this little thing to conspire again me?”. “As you can see,I think it is time for you to leave that throne. You this wicked, greedy and foolish bastard. “Guards!” The king shouted. Akin who was the second in command to the king’s guards came out. “Who are the guards you are calling?” Akin said this while he was moving closer to where Ogunlana and Adisa were standing. “Adeagbo, you are wicked! Oh! Do you think we are wicked like you?… All the years of your tyranny is over. And let me tell you, all those people you have asked us to kill in the time past, we usually take them to the OMI-OGUN stream that leads to LAYIPO village so that they can cross to the other side and continue their lives there. You are heartless and everything will end today!”. Akin continued. The moon had already come out. The people were gathering. “What do you want us to do him now” Adisa asked Ogunlana. “I want you to kill him, but the gods has already chosen the person who will do it”. Ewaade came out of her hiding place with tears running down her face. “It is my fate to do this to you, and I’m not sorry to do it because you deserve it”… Ewaade collected the gun from Adisa. And she killed her father with the gun. Everywhere was quiet at first because no one could believe the king has been killed and that he has gone forever. Adisa went to confirm if the king was dead, Adisa confirmed that and took his body to the lion’s den behind the king’s palace. The people started rejoicing. The fruits, foods, meats and jars of palm wine that were in the king’s store were released to the people. Meanwhile, Akin had gone to release the parents of Ogunlana from where he hid them. Ogunlana was so happy and joyous to see his parents again. Ogundele became the interim king of the people because his son is not old enough to get married. A bachelor can not be a king. After so many years, Ogunlana became the king and got married to Ewaade. “I crown you the king of OROPO, may your reign bring us peace and joy” said Ogundele while he was crowning his son. “What is the essence of having so much resources without peace, my wife and I have decided to change the name of this village to AYETORO” king Ogunlana said this after his coronation. “Kaaabieeesi ooooo” the people said while they were bowing for the new king and queen of AYETORO. Old Ogunsakin was also present at the ceremony.Adisa and Akin became chiefs of this new kingdom. Years after, Ogundele and his wife Sade passed away and the people lived happily ever after… (What a way the prophecy came through… thank you for your time…bye bye…) ************** ***THE END***
