I attended a wedding few days ago, a
little girl whispered to me Aunty, why is
the bride dressed in white? I said
because white is the colour of
happiness and today is one of the
happiest day of her life" the child thought about it 4 a moment, then
said, so why is the groom wearing
black? :) I look at her and was dumbfounded.Actually, i was lost of words of how to reply, esp in Nigeria where people belief black implies something BAD or EVIL. I know the colour of your wedding wear does not implies a happy marriage, but the truth is, am just curious to no why people use those colors(white for the gown, black for coat). Besides, if you were in my situation, how will you reply the girl???

Tough one. I would tell her its the formality. Thats the way its done. White for woman. Black for man

Very qood question from the child and i must say am as well dumbfounded like u're..... . I aqree with @Blessedgirl's reply..... Itz jex the formality and it would'nt be nice to see the both of them wearinq white(coat and qown)....so the husband's black is only complimentinq the wife's white to make them match...
