Why

As the days gone past, I felt courageous to propose to Debby. On a sunny first day of May , I visited a groceries shop to get a diamond ring.

Till now, I wasn't able to pronounce the three words " will you marry me". On several occasions Debby nearly caught me having the ring in my pocket but as the saying goes "what ought to be shall be" fate. The crafty lady of treachery rescued me.

Debby, has been an old friend of mine way back, Primary school days. By chance we met people we see today and by experience we never saw them, but by fate they wander back. As beautiful as she could be, slender, straight legs, Debby is every man's dream. the only lady whose presence sing my heart to melody, it torn my heart to put you into writing, Oh Debby. Am now wretched, dear Debby.

I smiled at the shining diamond ring in it box, picked-up my phone and dialed Debby's number. Just a ring, "aaahh! Come over. My stomach" I stuttered those words, and stressed the last one "hello.. hello" Debby's once melodious voice now tainted with worries and concern lost it melody, I disconnected the calls. And breathe, "hope the prank works".

Out of precipitation, I started sweating. Every sound increase my heart rate, I waited over forty minutes for Debby but she didn't show up. I prepared everything and switch on the song by Ed Sheeran - perfect, put it on a replay and head upstairs.

Life could be beautiful with the gift it offer, one is you Debby. I smiled while reciting one among many of my poems that I wanted to woo Debby with. None was registered successful, cause I'll forget them or grow cold feet. From unsuccessful wooing it resulted to mere friendship.

I stared at the boldly painted decoration on the wall "will you marry me, my Laraba" I smiled. Footsteps, approaching upstairs, I wiped away sweat and quickly render a short prayer. I faced the wall, automatically backing anybody opening the door.

"Are all these sweet poems for me, Vic" Debby melodious voice echo in my head, I turned and nodded. We were both silent looking at each other straight in the eyes, I switch on the brighter light in the room which eradicated the shadow covering the writings on the wall.

Shock and surprise registered in her face, I knelt down "....the very moment fate returned you, my heart. From that very moment I knew you are the one for me, am not perfect but with you. I stand a chance to wage the wind of turbulence, will you marry me Debby?" Tears roll down from her eyes, Debby didn't answer. She ran away.

Why do you have to run of a sudden that day, it shattered me. It piece my heart to misery and emptiness, oh.. how wish I have knew that my intension are causal of pains and lost of you, I'd have remain in solitude. Daughter of mischief, the beautiful devil, the witch of Valora, why fortune. Why take the greatest fortune that I have ever wished for.

I remained broken from that day until a call that hurt most haunt my phone "hello, Vic...." I couldn't comprehend whatever they are saying "nooooooooo! It cannot be my Debby" I screamed at the caller via the receiver. "Why remain down there and not here with me?"

Standing at your graveyard, I wish that someone could explain why you left on your way to my house that night. I never knew you love me like I do and always wanted to be with me, I'll never believe that we are not met for each other. May 10th will always remain an indelible mark of pains in my life. Dearest among dear Debby.

THE END.
