WHY ALWAYS BEN?
Ever felt that felling when everything that went wrong was you? Anyhow, it really sucks. You were very close to Ben. Who spilled the milk? BEN! Who tore my file? BEN! Who took the sausage in the freezer? BEN! Who fought on the streets? BEN!
But on the other side-who made do of the garbage? KEN! Who mowed the garden? KEN! Who polished my shoe? KEN! You can see a family of four-dad, mum, Ken and Ben. Ken was always right even when he was never, and Ben was always wrong even if he wasn’t. Ben knew he was wrong a times, or mostly to be precise, but not always he thought.
“Maybe I should just leave the house for the three of them, even my twin dislikes me”, he thought, “but where would I go?” “I would just starve to death in the ghetto. I can’t leave a ghetto life and don’t want to ever. I’ve never imagined such a thing in my life.” He was still talking to himself and mum drove in, and came straight to the sitting room, “I would always remind you to open and shut the gate for me!” He cut in, “But mum I didn’t hear your horn…”
“How will you hear it when you don’t value me?” she countered him rhetorically. “I worth little or none to you.” She inquired again rhetorically, “True or false.” Well at this situation snubbing was the only solution and that was exactly what he did. The same time Ken came into the sitting room and ran to hug Ms. Samer. “Welcome mum.” He said excitedly, “how was work?” she smiled and replied, “It was fine my son, thank you, at least you care unlike your twin.” have you read Freedom Fighters? With that Ben didn’t need a goddess to tell him to leave the sitting room and that he did and straight to his room. He checked his phone and there was a missed call from Sandra, he took it and called back. She was inviting him to her birthday party that night and she couldn’t afford his missing it. It would be great she promised.
Ben left immediately and got a little gift for her; he wasn’t with enough cash then but wouldn’t go empty handed. He wasn’t crushing on Sandra but he had to get her something, at least for calling and for the fact that they were a bit close. He only had one crush in the class and it was Gwen. He told his twin of his plans to spend the night outside and together they took permission to attend a vigil, and off to 8 Hours, the club. When they reached, he checked around and there was no Gwen, he wasn’t happy. He had brought some money that they would spend together. His brother went off to the dance floor with his own girl and he was left with no option than to do same. He saw a girl, also a teen dancing alone, he joined her and the fun began. Sandra wanted Ben to be her boyfriend secretly. As she saw them, she took her phone and took some very nice photographs of the duo. It reached taking her own pictures and she also took very sensitive ones with him. He tried resisting but out of much pressure, consented. They all dismissed and everyone went to their houses. Sandra forwarded all the pictures to Gwen and real trouble began.
The girl Ben danced with was Gwen’s sister but she wasn’t in their school and he never knew her.
“Why was Ben always wrong?” he thought. Now he was wrong again. He tried calling Gwen on
Sunday and that was when he found out of the latest development. She refused picking up his calls and Ben knew what was wrong. He dialed Sandra’s number and she picked. “Did you post those our pictures on Facebook? I’ve not logged in since then.” He asked her. She laughed and said that she didn’t, but she actually uploaded them to their Whatsapp group and sent some to
Gwen. She wanted to destroy their relationship and that was what she did. Ben knew he was in trouble and you know what he did? It was very easy. The pictures were at night and he had an identical twin. He sent Gwen a text, telling her that it was actually Ken that took the pictures, but she should forget about him since she didn’t trust him again and the next five minutes, Gwen called. He took the phone and put off, and when he switched it on again, here was a text from Gwen apologizing. The next Monday, they were together again and off went Sandra to the back seat. Her plans failed again and this time, might be the last and as they were talking, Ms. Samer got into the class, “Good day Mr. George, where’s Ben Samer?” the teacher called him and he left with his mum. “So you’re now clubbing? She asked, “why always you Ben, why always?”
